  • The GWNU (Gangnung-Wonju national university) solar radiation model was developed with radiative transfer theory by Iqbal and it is applied the NREL (National Research Energy Laboratory). Input data were collected and accomplished from the model prediction data from RDAPS (Regional Data Assimilated Prediction Model), satellite data and ground observations. And GWNU solar model calculates not only horizontal surface but also complicated terrain surface. Also, We collected the statistical data related on photovoltaic power generation of the Korean Peninsula and analyzed about photovoltaic power efficiency of the Gangwon region. Finally, the solar energy resource and photovoltaic generation possibility map established up with 4 km, 1 km and 180 m resolution on Gangwon region based on actual equipment from Shinan solar plant, statistical data for photovoltaic and complicated topographical effect.

  • Due to its high spectrum efficiency, 64-amplitude phase-shift keying (64-APSK) is one of the primary technologies used in deep space communications and digital video broadcasting through satellite-second generation. However, 64-APSK suffers from considerable computational complexity because of the de-mapping method that it employs. In this study, a low-complexity de-mapping method for (4 + 12 + 20 + 28) 64-APSK is proposed in which we take full advantage of the symmetric characteristics of each symbol mapping. Moreover, we map the detected symbol to the first quadrant and then divide the region in this first quadrant into several partitions to simplify the formula. Theoretical analysis shows that the proposed method requires no operation of exponents and logarithms and involves only multiplication, addition, subtraction, and judgment. Simulation results validate that the time consumption is dramatically decreased with limited degradation of bit error rate performance.

  • By the end of December 2020, an earthquake with Mw about 6.4 hit Sisak-Moslavina County, Croatia. The town of Petrinja was the most affected region with major power outage and many buildings collapsed. The damage also affected neighbor countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. As a light of this devastating event, a deformation map due to this earthquake could be generated by using remote sensing imagery from Sentinel-1 SAR data. InSAR could be used as deformation map but still affected with noise factor that could problematize the exact deformation value for further research. Thus in this study, 17 SAR data from Sentinel-1 satellite is used in order to generate the multi-temporal interferometry utilize Stanford Method for Persistent Scatterers (StaMPS). Mean deformation map that has been compensated from error factors such as atmospheric, topographic, temporal, and baseline errors are generated. Okada model then applied to the mean deformation result to generate the modeled earthquake, resulting the deformation is mostly dominated by strike-slip with 3 meter deformation as right lateral strike-slip. The Okada sources are having 11.63 km in length, 2.45 km in width, and 5.46 km in depth with the dip angle are about 84.47° and strike angle are about 142.88° from the north direction. The results from this modeling can be used as learning material to understand the seismic activity in the latest 2020 Petrinja, Croatia Earthquake.

  • IPS is an indoor positioning system that replaces GPS, which is less accurate due to walls and roofs inside buildings. Radio signals such as Wi-Fi are used instead of satellite signals, and complex methods are being used to increase accuracy. In this paper, we present a more efficient positioning method than before by applying high-level signals to high-accuracy fingerprint techniques. A radio map is configured with high-level signals collected by utilizing Wi-Fi APs, which are more than in the past. The suitability of use was confirmed by analyzing the pattern represented by the configured radio map for each location.

  • The purpose of this study is to extract agriculture-related information from high-resolution satellite imageries. Calendar of cropping pattern for crops detected on the image was diagrammed, and field investigation was done to check crop status, agricultural facilities and structures. As a result, high-resolution agricultural land cover map from IKONOS imageries was made out.

  • This paper presents photogrammetric processing to generate digital elevation models and deals with the accuracy potential of SPOT-5 HRG supermode imagery for DEM generation. The DEMs obtained from digital topographic maps of 1/5000 scale were used as the refernce DEM data. DEMs extracted from HRG dats were compared with digital topograpic map DEMs on severed test sections. And digital surface model(DSM), refering to above the ground like buildings, was produced about the test built-up area.

  • The rainfall estimates give sufficiently accurate information to map areas which have received the minimum rainfall necessary for outbreaks of pests such as locusts, thus cutting down the cost of searching for likely outbreak sites. At the other end of the scale, satellite rainfall estimates can be used to give timely warnings of changes in river levels and the likelihood of floods in large river catchments.(omitted)

  • In this paper, we proposed muli-dimensional feature vector matching method combined with disparity smoothness constraint. The smoothness constraint was calculated using the difference between disparity of center pixel and those of 4-neighbor pixels. By applying proposed algorithm to IKONOS satellite stereo imagery, we obtained robust stereo matching result in urban areas.
