Homomorphic filtering improves image by enhancing high components and reducing low components in the Sequency domain based on FFT, as one of useful digital image processing techniques. In this study, the application program f3r homomorphic filtering was developed. Using this program, satellite imageries and geophysical image such as magnetic image data were processed and their results were analyzed. In case of applying to other techniques suck as histogram equalization and kernel-based masking f3r the same purpose. they often cause the slight distortion of boundary or overall change of brightness values on the whole image. Whereas. homomorphic filtering has ability to enhance selectively detailed components in a target image. Therefore. this technique can be effectively used for extraction or separation of complex types of characteristics contained in the satellite imagery. In addition, this technique would be applicable to investigate anomalous zone in various geophysical image data.

The bands 27.5 - 28.35GHz and 31.0 - 31.3GHz were allocated to the High Altitude Platform Station in WRC-2000. However, since these bands were already allocated to the existing fired-satellite service, the analysis on the interference effects between the existing FSS/GSO system and FS/HAPS system should be needed. To do study on the interference effects between above two systems, we can consider two frequency operational renditions, one is the Reverse mode and the other Forward mode. In this paper, we considered the Forward mode as the frequency operational condition and analyzed the interference effect from a number of GSO satellites to HAPS ground station due to the I/N values, the latitude of HAPS and the satellite separation. In future, these results will be vital data to share between HAPS and GSO systems.

On board satellite magnetometer measures all possible magnetic components, such as the core and crustal components from the inner Earth, and magnetospheric, ionospheric and' its coupled components from the outer Earth. Due to its dipole and non-dipole features, separation of the respective component from the measurements is most difficult unless the comprehensive knowledge of each field characteristics and the consequent modeling methods are solidly constructed. Especially, regional long wavelength magnetic signals of the crust are strongly masked by the main field and dynamic external field and hence difficult to isolate in the satellite measurements. In particular, the un-modeled effects of the strong auroral external fields and the complicated behavior of the core field near the geomagnetic poles conspire to greatly reduce the crustal magnetic signal-to-noise ratio in the polar region relative to the rest of the Earth. We can, however, use spectral correlation theory to filter the static lithospheric and core field components from the dynamic external field effects that are closely related to the geomagnetic storms affecting ionospheric current disturbances. To help isolate regional lithospheric anomalies from core field components, the correlations between CHAMP magnetic anomalies and the pseudo-magnetic effects inferred from satellite gravity-derived crustal thickness variations can also be exploited, Isolation of long wavelengths resulted from the respective source is the key to understand and improve the models of the external magnetic components as well as of the lower crustal structures. We expect to model the external field variations that might also be affected by a sudden upheaval like tsunami by using our algorithm after isolating any internal field components.

Payload fairing(PLF) protects satellites and related equipment from the external environment. They are separated before the satellite separation. Payload fairing made of composite sandwich materials due to their considerable bending stiffness and strength-to-weight ratio. Payload fairing have compression, shear and bending load during the flight. In this study, To check the strength of PLF and connected part, structural test of PLF accomplished using an actuator and a fixture. Purpose of structural test is to verify the strength of PLF in force of separation spring and combination structural load applied. Test result shows that the PLF have an acceptable margin of safety for the combination structural load and force of separation spring.
As interest in microsatellites increases, research has been actively conducted recently on the performance and use, as well as the orbital design and deployment techniques, for the microsatellite constellations. The purpose of this study was to investigate orbital deployment techniques using thrust and differential atmospheric drag control (DADC) for the Walker-delta constellation. When using thrust, the time and thrust required for orbital deployment vary, depending on the separation speed and direction of the satellite with respect to the launch vehicle. A control strategy to complete the orbital deployment with limited performance of the propulsion system is suggested and it was analyzed. As a result, the relationship between the deployment period and the total thrust consumption was derived. It takes a relatively longer deployment time using differential air drag rather than consuming thrusts. It was verified that the satellites can be deployed only with differential air drag at a general orbit of a microsatellite constellation. The conclusion of this study suggests that the deployment strategy in this paper can be used for the microsatellite constellation.

Koreasat-3 was successfully launched by an Ariane IV launch vehicle on September 5, 1999. Although the primary purpose of the satellite is to replace Koreasat-l, it also can extend its communication service coverage over the Asia-Pacific region. A spacecraft is subjected to severe dynamic loads during launch period. To verify the safety of spacecraft under the launch environment, dynamic tests should be performed such as sine sweep, acoustic and separation shock tests. This paper presents the launch environment test results of Koreasat-3. A total of 188 acceleration responses was measured and compared with the design requirements of components and spacecraft. Dynamic characteristic change was also investigated by comparing between low-level pre/post vibration results. From the review of test results, it is concluded that Koreasat-3 was designed and manufactured with the margin of safety enough to survive the launch loads of Ariane IV.

When a body falls in fluid, the body often experiences autorotations, namely, various kind of rotating motions, such as tumbling, flat spin and coming. Tumbling is a rotating motion with an axis perpendicular to a falling direction. Tumbling is a very important phenomenon in aeronautical and space engineering, ballistics and meteorology. For example, when an satellite re-en-tries into the atomosphere, its body collapses into many fragments which are disperse in the wide range of field. Some fragments fall in tumbling motion. Then tumbling is useful to predict fragment's motion.(omitted)

Under Resolution 122 (Rev. WRC-03), ITU-R is invited to study, as a matter of urgency, power limitations applicable for HAPS ground stations to facilitate sharing with space station receivers in the bands 47.2-47.5 GHz and 47.9-48.2 GHz. However, there have been no studies on this issue. Recommendation ITU-R SF.1481-1 which was developed during past study period, provides methodology and system characteristics for analyzing the sharing feasibility between systems in the FS using HAPS and systems in the FSS. System characteristics for a typical HAPS in the bands above are also given in Recommendation ITU-R F.1500. This paper provides the results on power limitations applicable for HAPS ground stations in accordance with Resolution 122 (Rev. WRC-03). As already shown in ITU-R Recommendation the results show that a sufficient separation distance is required for sharing between HAPS ground stations and FSS satellite systems. We obtain some examples of the sharing conditions considering reducing the power level of HAPS ground stations and using the antenna beam pattern with the low sidelobe to decrease the interference level affecting FSS satellite receiver.

The mission objective of STEP Cube Lab. (Cube Laboratory for Space Technology Experimental Project) classified as a pico-class satellite is to verify the technical effectiveness of payloads such as variable emittance radiator, SMA washer, oscillating heat pipe and MEMS based solid propellant thruster researched at domestic universities. In addition, the MEMS concentrating photovoltaic power system and the non-explosive holding and separation mechanism with the advantages of high constraint force and low shock level will be developed as the primary payloads for on-orbit verification. In this study, the feasibility of the mission actualization has been confirmed by the preliminary system design.
