  • In this paper, satellite searching and tracking method for the satellite antenna in naval vessels system are proposed. For fast searching satellite, Wide Range Search(WRS) algorithm is proposed where the signal strength of side-lobe is utilized as well as that of main-lobe. Satellite tracking algorithm to stabilize satellite antenna is based on conical-scanning which is accomplished by the use of the sub-reflector located in front of the focus of the reflector. The sub-reflector rotates about a slightly tilted axis by means of a motor and shapes the antenna beam to utilize stabilization. To show the validity of the proposed method, an experimental example is represented.

  • Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ku-band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 16 leaky-wave elements is showing 30 dBi of gain, 4.9 degree of beamwidth, below than -20 dB of sidelobe level, 45 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

  • Satellite television receiving antenna is required for watching TV on the vehicles, ship and car. Recently TV is not only facility as getting information but one of utility in our life. In Korea, already on the service multi-channel satellite TV using excellent visibility and sound, and there are many users using now by fixing antenna. On this thesis, developed ship's satellite TV receiving antenna, the azimuth controlling is adopted azimuth information using gyro sensor and differential of receiving signal strength algorithm, and elevation controlling used gimbals. The result of this research is successfully implemented Korean satellite tracking antenna as performance until ${\pm}$30 degree roll and pitch of ship motion.

  • Large number of SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites, one type of earth observation satellite, have been developed as they have the advantage of not being affected by surrounding environment during the earth image acquisition. In order to gain high image quality, SAR antenna should have large diameter. However, internal space of satellite launch vehicle is limited and this leads SAR antenna to be designed deployable so that it can be folded in launch vehicle and unfolded in space. In this research, values of various design factors of deployable satellite antenna were chosen considering satellite's target mission. Configuration of deployable satellite antenna was designed by applying the chosen values of design factors, and variation in deployable satellite antenna during satellite maneuver was observed through simulation.

  • The present study aims to design a multiplayer microstrip antenna with composite sandwich construction and to estimate structural behavior of this multiplayer structure for the next generation of structural surface technology. This is termed Surface-Antenna-Structure indicating that structural surface becomes antenna. Constituent materials were selected considering electrical properties as well as mechanical properties. For the antenna performance, antenna elements inserted into structural layers were designed for satellite communication at a resonant frequency of 12.5 GHz and final demonstration article was $16\times16$ array antenna. From electrical measurements it was shown that antenna performances were in good agreement with design requirements. Structural analysis showed this antenna structure was well designed for the mechanical rigidity. All constituent materials were characterized independently. The SAS concept is the first serious attempt at integration for both antenna and composite engineers and promises innovative future communication technology.

  • The satellite antenna for collecting information is mainly classified into reflector antenna, lens antenna, and phased array antenna. Among them, the phased array antenna with the excellent antenna pattern control performance for a multi-beam system is frequently used. Although the terrestrial signal information collection based on the satellite is not much effected geographically, it requires the accurate angle-of-arrival (AOA) information of the interesting signal. In this paper, we discuss the characteristics and the advantages/disadvantages of the antenna array shape employed in the phased array antenna. In addition, we present the Cascade AOA estimation algorithm based on a square array antenna mounted on the satellite receiver, and show the performance evaluation results through the computer simulation.

  • The 2nd KOrea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT -2) has been developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) since 2000. Multi Spectral Camera (MSC) is the payload for KOMPSAT -2, which will provide the observation imagery around Korean peninsula with high resolution. KOMPSAT-2 has adopted X-band Tracking System (XTS) for transmitting earth observation data to ground station. For this, data which describes and controls the pre-defined motion of each on-board X-Band antenna in XTS, must be transmitted to the spacecraft as S-Band command and it is called as Tracking Parameter Files (TPF). In this paper, the result of the development of TPF Generation S/W for KOMPSAT-2 X-Band Antenna Motion Control.

  • A performance analysis of LEO Satellite Communication Service is being made in a variety of ways. In this paper we examined the variation of interference caused by the distribution of terminals within a cell and the maximum number of users according to the average distance between terminals, which had not been considered in former researches. Also we examined the interference made by sopt beam isolation value of some antennas(tapered-apertured antenna, gaussian antenna) which are used on LEO Satellite Communication Service Assigning this interference to the bandwidth of channels in LEO Satellite Communication Service, and with principal parameters(bandwidth, number of carrier) we made a performance analysis. And comparing tapered-apertured antenna with gaussian antenna we will find out which one is more effective and more suitable for interference.

  • This paper deals with modelling and identification of a shipboard stabilized satellite antenna system using the optimal neural network structure. It is difficult for shipboard satellite antenna system to control and identification because of their approximating ability of nonlinear function So it is important to design the neural network with optimal structure for minimum error and fast response time. In this paper, a neural network structure using genetic algorithm is optimized And genetic algorithm is also used for identifying a shipboard satellite antenna system It is noticed that the optimal neural network structure actually describes the real movement of ship well. Through practical test, the optimal neural network structure is shown to be effective for modelling the shipboard satellite antenna system.
