Objectives We report a case which is based on Sasang constitutional Medicine for Soyangsangpungjeung of Soyangin who has chill and fever. Methods We have treated a Soyangin patient that had chill and fever which was diagnosed as Soyangsangpungjeung. We prescribed oriental medicine therapy focused on herbal medicine for that physical symptoms. The improvement of that symptoms was evaluated. Results After using oriental medicine therapy, patient's physical symptoms were improved. Conclusions This case study showed an efficient result of using oriental medicine therapy, especially herbal medicine in Soyangsangpungjeung of Soyangin.

Objective We report a case about a Soyangin patient with diabetic neuropathy. His symptoms were alleviated with Sasang Constitutional medicine. Methods A Soyangin patient with diabetic neuropathy was treated by herbal medicine, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture according to Sasang Constitutional Medicine. The progress was evaluated with numerical rating scale(NRS) and blood sugar test(BST). Results Sasang Constitutional Medicine seems to be effective for the symtoms of the patient with diabetic neuropathy in this case. Conclusions This case study shows that Sasang Constitutional Medicine may be an effective treatment for Soyangin's diabetic neuropathy.

1. Objectives We analyze Doctor-Patient Relationship in anthropological medicine, medical sociology Oriental Medicine and find out solutions about problems of Modern Medicine which are dehumanized through the meaning of Doctor-Patient Relationship in Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. Methods We consider various studies which are related with doctor-patient relationship from models of the Doctor-Patient Relationship, anthropological medicine, medical sociology and Oriental Medicine. And we compare and analyze Sasang Constitutional Medicine's meaning of doctor and patient through Sasang Constitutional Medicine's view of treatment and philosophy. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) In various studies, Doctor-Patient Relationship have been dualistic perspective which is divided into doctor and patient, and lay emphasis on relationship between them. 2) In Sasang Constitutional Medicine, anyone might be a patient because they are human being, anyone might be a doctor as cure their own disease. In other words, doctor and patient are not separated but united. A point of regarding human is the core of illness and cure can present new direction that solves problems of dualistic perspective Modern Medicine.

We report 1 case about Yukmijihwang-tanggagambang that was considered by Sasang constitution that was used for an elderly Soyangin patient with acute urinary retention, lower urinary tract symptoms and other symptoms. We treated an elderly Soyangin patient who suffered from acute urinary retention, lower urinary tract symptoms and other symptoms, who had history of benign prostatic hyperplasia. We considered his Sasang constitution and prescribed Yukmijihwnag-tanggagambang mainly. The improvement of his symptoms were evaluated by presence of symptoms, times of urination and visual analogue scale. After treatment that was been Yukmijihwang-tanggagambang mainly, patient's symptoms were disappeared or improved. And there was not any adverse effect. This study shows that using Yukmijihwang-tanggagambang that was considered by Sasang constitution can be effective treatment for an elderly Soyangin patient's acute urinary retention, lower urinary tract symptoms and other symptoms.

This study was aimed to report an significant improvement of urinary disturbance in overactive bladder patient using Soeumin's Sibimigwanjung-tang based on Sasang constitutional medicine. Methods A female overactive bladder patient with urinary disturbance including urgency, frequency, nocturia, tenesmus, weak stream was enrolled in this study. The patient was diagnosed as Soeum type greater-yin pattern and medicated with Sibimigwanjung-tang three times a day. Clinical improvement was evaluated with urination diary, International Prostate Symptom Score, Overactive Bladder Symptom Score, Numeric Rating Scale, and percentage of improvement compared to the day of hospitalization. Results Significant improvement was seen in urinary disturbance after 26 days of admission treatment. Also, symptoms of dyspepsia, coldness of hands and feet, and facial edema were improved. Conclusions This clinical case suggests that Sibimigwanjung-tang can be valuable option in treating urinary disturbance in overactive bladder within Soeum type greater-yin pattern.

Objectives : The purpose of this case study is to report the effectiveness of Sasang constitutional medicine on 5 seborrheic dermatitis patients who were diagnosed as Soyangin.Methods : Among 5 seborrheic dermatitis patients, 3 of them were treated byyanggyeoksanhwa-tang, 1 of them was treated byhyeongbangsabaek-sanand 1 of them was treated byhyeongbangdojeok-san. The effects of treatment was measured by VAS score, photographs and Colormeter using Dermavision.Results : VAS scores of all patients decreased from 10 to 1,2. A㏄ording to photographies and Colormeter, all patients were noticeably improved.Conclusions : The result indicates that Sasang constitutional medicine is effective in treatment of seborrheic dermatitis patients. And the authors consider that continuous clinical study will be needed in Korean medical dermatology.

1. Objects: This case study reports a liver injury in treatment of constipation with Yeoldahanso-tang plus Rheum rhabarbarum. 2. Methods: The patient's subjective symptoms and the laboratory data including aspartate transaminase(AST), alanine transaminase(ALT), alkaline phosphatase(ALP), and gamma($\gamma$)-glutamyl transpeptidase(GGT) were observed before and after liver injury. We used the Roussel Uclaf Causality Assessment Method(RUCAM) scale in order to find out whether if Yeoldahanso-tang plus Rheum rhabarbarum was related with the liver injury. 3. Results: The patient's AST and ALT were elevated more than twice after a 3week administration period of herbal medicine. After discontinuation of the herbal medicine and administration of hepatic protective medication, AST and ALT decreased. The patient's general condition improved during hospitalization. The RUCAM score was estimated at 8. 4. Conclusions: This case is presented to bring more attention to the toxicity of herbal medicine.

1. Objective : This study aims to report symptomatic improvement of a Soyangin patient reporting general weakness, dizziness, gait disturbance, cold sensitivity, nocturnal sweating, and anorexia after treatment with Hyeongbangjihwang-tang. 2. Method : The patient's subjective and objective symptoms were observed daily, and the VAS scores for the main symptoms were recorded daily throughout the hospitalization period. 3. Result : The general condition of the patient improved by the end of the hospitalization period, where the VAS score dropped from VAS 10 to VAS 5 and the symptoms of dizziness, general weakness, cold sensitivity, and nocturnal sweating disappeared by day 4 of admission without recurrence. 4. Conclusion : Although the patient did not report diarrhea, one of the main Mangeum symptoms, the general symptoms improved with Hyeongbangjihwang-tang medication. This indicates that Hyeongbangjihwang-tang can be used to treat chief and subsidiary symptoms related to Mangeum symptomatic pattern when applied to the appropriate base and manifesting symptomology.

1. Objectives Uterine myoma and Ovary cyst is a common disease in gynecologist. These disease can also be treated by Sasang constitutional medical diagnosis and treatment. 2. Methods In treatment of the patient who has Uterine myoma and Ovary cyst, we had diagnosed her as soyangin by their own characters and prescribed Gamijihwang-tang(加味地黃湯). 3. Results The scale of Uterine myoma and Ovary cyst reduced and the occured syndrome with that disease was diasppeared 4. Conclusions In conclusion, this paper shows that the treatment and healing process of Uterine myoma and Ovary cyst.

1. The purpose of this study This study was performed on the basis of clinical consideration about rhinitis patients who suffered from sneeze, rhinorrhea, rhinocleisis and etc. And we checked the clinical inclination of this disease and the characteristic treatments of Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 2. The method of this study For 17 months from October in 1999 to April in 2001 we selected outpatients who had consulted for rhinitis more than twice in the department of the Sasang Constitution of the Bundang Oriental medical hospital, Dongguk University, and 31 of those were confirmed of their course of treatment. From their medical records and history, we learned the general characterisics and patterns of rhinitis, and the qualities and effects of its various treatment. 3. The result of this study The result were as follows ; 1) The rate of patients who have had the symptoms over the two years was 74.2%. 2) In the distribution of chief symptoms, sneeze occupied 80.6% of all appealed symptoms, rhinocleisis 77.4%, rhinorrhea 71.0%, intranasal pruritus 54.8%, postnasal drip 16.1%, orderly. 3) The treatment period was about 30days. The method of treatment was the Herb-med Tx, acupuncture Tx and etc. The herb-med ingestion was about two times in that period. 4) On the effect of treatment, Sneeze and rhinocleisis were improved. 5) The symptoms of rhinitis was more depravated by fatigue and stressful condition than weather condition. This result shows that the improvement of general condition has an effect on the rhinitis treatment.
