Objectives ; A Supplementary Study for Sasangin Identifing is based on Chapter Pathophysiology Part V of [Donggyi Soose Bowon Chobonguan]. And I try to explain that with Sasang Constitutional Theory. After all I want this study given the basis of 'The Guideline of Sasangin's Diagnosis & Treatment(GSDT)'. Methods ; First, I divid ${\ulcorner}$part V${\lrcorner}$ into 4 cartegories (Normal Condition, Abnormal Condition, good or bad Condition, Better or Worse Condition). And then each symtom is analyzed by Sasang Constitutional Medicine(SCM). Conclusions; I am sure that it gives the first step toward Indentifying Sasangin of [Donggyi Soose Bowon]. All of Sasangin Identifing Supplementary are analyzed by SCM. They are divided the identifing for Sasangin classification and Sasangin diagnosis of the disease. And this study will give the basis of ‘GSDT’.

1. Objectives This case is to report that a Soyangun patient with Dizziness treated by Soyangin's Contitutional medications-Dojuckkangki-tang(導赤降氣湯). 2. Methods This patient was treated by several Constitutional medications (導赤降氣湯-地黃白虎湯-荊芳地黃湯) and acupuncture treatment according to the result of Sasang Constitutional diagnosis with western medical management. We used Visual analogue scale(VAS) for the assessment of dizziness. 3. Results and Conclusions This patient's chief complaints was dizziness. So he was treated by Soyangin's Constitutional medications (especially Dojukkangki-tang) and showed a positive response about his symptom. But then we consider that studies about that case like this are more needed.

1. Objectives: The purpose of this case is to report the effect of Onbaek-won(溫白元) which is based on Sasang Constitutional Medicine for abnormal uterine bleeding from Endometriosis in Soeumin. 2. Methods: We treated Soeumin patient that had abnormal uterine bleeding from endometriosis. We prescribed Onbaek-won(溫白元) for her physical symptoms. The improvement of her disease was checked her bleeding volume and other physical symptoms. 3. Results: After the Sasang constitutional medication of Onbaek-won(溫白元) was given, her bleeding volume and her physical symptoms was improved. 4. Conclusions: This case study show an efficient result of using Onbaek-won(溫白元) in abnormal uterine bleeding from endometriosis of Soeumin. Onbaek-won(溫白元) was used instead of Semen Tiglii(巴豆).

Spinal cord infarction in vascular impairment of spinal cord is rare in the world. and besides, because spinal cord has small cross-sectional area and almost all tract of sensory system and motor system pass away, spinal cord disease is one of the terrible diseases, that leaves usually permanent and severe neurological sequela. The case is about a patient who is 57 years old woman. Both of her legs were suddenly paralyzed and her case was diagnosed as spinal cord infarction in medical center. In our hospital, we focussed on her basic physiological condition-defecation, urination, dormitio, diet, etc. In the case of this patient, power and sense of both legs with physiolocal condition improved remarkably through Sasang Constitutional Medicine with rehabilitative therapy.

A 52-year-old female diagnosed with Atypical Parkinsonian Disorders (APD) about one year ago suffered from dizziness and gait disturbance. The patient was identified as Taeeumin esophagus-cold lung-dry symptomatology pattern and was treated with Jowisengcheong-tang. The patient's symptoms of dizziness and night sweats were assessed using Global Assessment Scale (GAS). And, the Unified Multiple System Atrophy Rating Scale (UMSARS) and the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) were used to assess the overall function of the patient. The patient's symptoms of dizziness and night sweats were significantly improved, and UMSARS and MDS-UPDRS scores were decreased. This case showed that Sasang constitutional medicine treatment can improve APD symptoms and improve the quality of life of the patient.

Sasang Constitutional Medicine is based on the diversity of Human being and medically developed the response variation to diseases and medicines. The diversity is categorized as four from physiology, pathology, symptoms, to therapy. So that is related the difference of individual characteristics in Western Science. Single nucleotide polymorphism is the basic tool to research genetic polymorphisms. We researched the polymorphism site of MTHFR gene on 1p36.3, which is relatively reported the occlusive vascular disease. In the clinical research of brain infarction, the occurrence was different according to constitution. The 677C/T Polymorphism site of MTHFR was not significantly different in constitution group. But this research was the first trial about the single nucleotide polymorphism according to constitution. The more researchs of many genes are necessary to find the characteristics of constitution.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study was to find out prevalence of chronic diseases according to Sasang constitutional. 2. Methods The medical records of 1,453 subjects who have taken health examinations and diagnosis of Sasang constitution from January 2003 to June 2003 at a health examination center of a university hospital in Seoul were reviewed. Sociodemographic factors and the prevalences of chronic diseases according to Sasang Constitution are compared and analyzed. 3. Results (1) Among the 1,453 subjects, 683(47.0%) were Taeumin, 421(29.0%) were Soyangin, and 349(24.0%) were Soeumin. (2) The prevalences of gastric polyp, diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, dyslipoproteinemia, abnormal liver function and fatty liver of T aeurnin were significantly higher than those of the other constitutions (p-value<0.05). And the prevalences of hepatic cyst and gall stone disease of Taeumin were higher than those of the other constitutions(p-value<0.l). (3) The prevalences of liver cirrhosis of Soyangin was significantly higher than that of the other constirutions(p-value <0. 05). (4) The prevalences of pulmonary tuberculosis on X-ray and anemia of Soeurnin were significantly higher than those of the other constitutions (p-value<0.05). And the prevalences of gastric xanthelasma and hypothyroidism of Soeumin were higher than those of the other constitutions(p-value<0.1). 4. Conclusions There were significant differences on the prevalences of some chronic diseases according to Sasang wnstirution.

Methods This patient was treated by several Constitutional medications and acupuncture treatment according to the result of Sasang Constitutional diagnosis with western management. So he was treated by Soyangin's Constitutional medications(especially Hyeongbangpaedok-san, Dojeokganggi-tang and Hyeongbangsabaek-san) and showed a positive response about his symptom. But then we consider that studies about that case like this are more needed.

Objectives To evaluate the neuroprotective effects of Hyangsayangwi-tang (HY), a Korean traditional medicinal prescription in a Parkinson's disease mouse model. Methods Four groups(each of 10 mouse per group) were used in this study. The neuroprotective effect of HY was examined in a Parkinson's disease mouse model. C57BL/6 mouse treated with 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP, 30mg/kg/day), intraperitoneal (i.p.) for 5 days. Slow behavioral responses and memory disorder is the major clinical symptoms of PD. In order to investigate the effect of HY on recovery of behavioral deficits and memory, we examined the motor function and memory by using Morris water maze and Forced swimming test. Ischemic mouse brain stained with TTC(2,3,5 triphenyl tetrazolium chloride) in the MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease to find out ischemia and tissue damage in mouse. The convenient, simple, and accurate high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was established for simultaneous determination of neurotransmitters in MPTP-HY group. To measure the amount of dopamine in mice brain, striatum-substantia nigra, was examined by Bradford assay. Immunohistochemistry was examined in the MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease (PD) mouse to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of Hyangsayangwi-tang on hippocampal lesion, ST and SNpc. Results and Conclusions Hyangsayangwi-tang (HY) prevents MPTP-induced loss of serotonin, hippocampus and TH-ir cell.

Objectives There is growing interest in the management of cancer survivors due to the increase in long-term survivors. But no literature research focusing on the management of cancer survivors has been done in Sasang Constitutional Medicine despite the superiority in comprehensive management of patients. Therefore, we planned to look into the perspective of health preservation in Sasang Constitutional Medicine.Methods We investigated the 『Donguisusebowon-Sasangchobongwon(東醫壽世保元 四象草本卷)』. We classified the contents which might be applicable to cancer patients. After classifying, we compared the contents with clinical experience and health preservation methods of Western Medicine.Results and Conclusions The health preservation is mentioned mostly as Joyang(調養). The Sasang Constitutional Medicine classifies the lives of people in 8 stages. Depending on the stages, there is a difference in the prognosis and management. Cancer patients can be regarded as being in the stages of Noeok(牢獄) and Wiegyeong(危傾). In these stages, patient's health preservation is important. In order to achieve long-term survival and to prevent disease progression, it is important to maintain requisite energy(保命之主). The attitudes that patient must have are simplicity(簡約), attentiveness(勤幹), vigilance(警戒), knowledgeability(聞見) for keeping one's own health and fulfilling the social obligations of human relations. The concept of health preservation in Sasang Constitutional Medicine covers the wide range of health. But detailed methods for patients to understand and practice are lacking. Moreover, it is hard for cancer patients to access the information. Therefore, further researches should be done to make the concept more specific and easy to access for cancer patients.
