This study was focused on the use of partial replacement of cement with glass powder in high strength concrete and also copper slag as a partial replacement of coarse sand in concrete. The high strength concrete was prepared with different mineral admixtures like silica fume, fly ash and rice ash husk in different proportions. An experimental investigation has been carried to study about the effect of glass powder on high strength copper slag concrete. The range of glass powder was 10%, 15% and 20% as a replacement of cement. The range of copper slag was 0%, 20%, 40% and 60% as a replacement of natural sand. In addition to the different percentage of fly ash, silica fume, and rice husk ash 5% and 10% was also studied in copper slag concrete. Thus, a total of 51 cubes were casted and compressive strength test was performed on them. The result of the study shows that the value of average compressive strength of concrete after addition of 10%, 15% and 20% of glass powder are 70.47, 72.01 and 73.31 respectively. The value of average compressive strength after addition of 20%, 40% and 60% copper slag as a replacement of sand are 72.18, 74.38 and 73.08 respectively. The value of average compressive strength after addition of 5% and 10% fly ash as a replacement of cement are 71.56 and 73.22. The value of average compressive strength after addition of 5% and 10% silica fume as a replacement of cement are 72.33 and 73.53. The value of average compressive strength after addition of 5% and 10% rice husk ash as a replacement of cement are 72.86 and 69.49. At the level of 20% replacement of cement by glass powder meets maximum strength as compared to that of controlled concrete and copper slag high strength concrete.
Recently, With the increase of income level, many people desire to have agreeable and quiet surrounding. However, the extent and time of the exposure to construction noise and vibration is increasing, which is a factor that ruins the quietness of the surrounding and increasingly raises interests in its effects. In this point, this study attempts to survey the characteristics of construction vibration by SD(Sand drain) method in construction field. In addition, the result of study is presumed to be usable as the fundamental materials for an efficient counter-plan in case of the public resentment in relations to the construction vibration occurring henceforth.
This study was carried out to treat sewage using sand trench combined with septic tank process in rural areas. In order to find optimum parameters, design and operation mode was changed from Run 1 to Run 4. In order to facilitate nitrification and T-P removal, diffuser and iron plate was installed in the 3rd trench of Run 2 period. The septic tank played a role as pre-application process of sand trench system. The removal efficiencies of COD, NH$_4$-N, T-P at steady state were 94.6%, 87.9% and 54.5%, respectively. Addition of diffuser and iron plate in the 3rd trench has increased the removal efficiencies of the NIL-N and T-P. In this system, denitrification were not occurred because of the high DO.

Recitly, the use of sea-sand is increasing in the construction due to the rapid reduction of river-sand. In that case, one of the major problem is that a sand salt in sea-sand induce the corrosion of embedded reinforcing bar in concrete. In addition, the deterioration of concrete quality arises a social problem in the durability of reinforced concrete. This research is aimed at providing the data for the control of design method of repair and rehabilitation in the reinforced concrete structure by means of the evaluation of structural performance due to corrosion.

This study investigates influence of particle properties of crushed sand on the duality of concrete. The test shows that an increase of fineness modulus(FM) resulted in high slump and air contents, while compressive strength decreased due to decreased adhesion with reduction of surface area. As grain shape become rounder, the slump of concrete increased, due to reduction of internal friction, and increased air contents. The reduction of adhesion by abrasion of surface declined compressive strength during the process of manufacturing crushed sand. Increase of powder contents decreased slump and it also decreased air contents due to the effect of filling air void. In addition. using powder contents increased compressive strength, but could not find any difference of bleeding and tensile strength with particle properties.

This study analyzed flowing and strength properties of mortar depending to fine aggregate types and replacement ratio by using blast furnace slag, red mud, and silica fume that are industrial by products. The findings showed that higher replacement level of fine aggregate increased air content while decreased table flow. In addition, compressive strength showed that the higher replacement level was regardless of fine aggregate types, the lower strength became. Mortar substituted by the dredged sand showed high strength.
In this study attempted to prevent defects due to blow holes among defects of sand casting products. It was intended to reduce the defect rate by reducing the blow hole of the inner surface. Currently, expectations and requirements for the quality level of non-ferrous aluminum casting in the casting industry are increasing. In addition, the shape is complex and the shrinkage precision is required. Among them, the test prototype is expensive to manufacture the mold, and the production time is also long, and the product is manufactured by sand casting. At this time, the highest defect rates are defects caused by shrinkage defects, surface defects, and blow holes.. At this study, the manufacturing time was shortened by using the shape of the fluid movement path in advance. Also, it is possible to reduce defects due to blow holes.
This study aimed to develop reference materials (RMs) for mortar that can simulate the initial flow characteristics with constant quality over a long period. Through the previous research on the development of RMs for cement paste, the combination of limestone, glycerol, and water was used as the basic matrix for developing RMs for mortar in this study. In addition, glass beads of three particle sizes (0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 mm) and ISO standard sand were selected as tentative candidates to derive fine aggregate substitutes. The mixture of glass beads could simulate the initial flow characteristics of mortar, but under the same mixing ratio, replicates showed an unstable tendency to indicate inconsistent values due to the generation of electrostatic properties between materials and equipment. On the other hand, the mixture using ISO standard Sand not only simulates the constant flow characteristics for a long period of time, but also shows stable results with little error in replicates. Therefore, limestone, glycerol, ISO standard sand, and water were finally determined as components that met the required properties of RMs for mortar. The effect of each component on the flow characteristics of RMs was analyzed. It was found that glycerol increased the cohesion between the particles of standard sand, resulting in a constant increase both in the plastic viscosity and yield stress. Both limestone and standard sand had a dominant effect on the yield stress. The relationships between various mortar mixing ratios and the corresponding mixing ratios of RMs were established. In addition, the results of the verification experiment showed that the rheological properties of the RMs obtained through the relationships correlated with various water/cement ratios and the fine aggregate volume fractions of mortar obtained with same manner. In other words, the RMs for mortar developed in this study can be used as standard samples because they can simulate the initial flow characteristics of mortar of various mixing ratios for a long period without any chemical changes.
The biodegradation of recalcitrant polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, pyrene was investigated in microcosm simulating the beach sand and seawater. The natural biodegradation rates of pyrene were between 30-2,200 ng/g(ml)/day in beach sand and seawater when the pyrenc loading rates were 100- 1,000 ppm at 5-$20^{\circ}C$. The effects of the inoculum size, pyrene concentralion, incubation temperature and surfactant addition were investigated in fertilized (Inipol EAP 22) samples. Generally the biodegradation in beach sand was higher than that in seawater. A mixed inoculum (Pseudomonus, Acinetobacter, Moruxella) showed the 3,120 nglglday of biodegradation rate in beach sand with 200 ppm pyrene, which was 7.8 times higher than the natural biodegradation rate. The highest transformation rate, 4,860 ng/g/day was obtained in the bioaugmented beach sand (1,000 ppm pyrene). The glucose and surfactant addition to enhance the removal have negatively influenced on the biodegradation of pyrene. In case ol surfactants, CMC (critical micell concentration) might bc the control factor for the biodegradation.
To evaluate the performance of high rate coagulation system(HRCS) for CSOs treatment, fundamental function of lab scale HRCS has been tested by using the Jar tester and lab scale HRCS. The optimum pH dose by Streaming Current value was found in the range of 5.3~6.0 in Fe(III), and in the range of 5.8~6.6 in Al(III) and the optimum chemical dose were 0.44mM of $Al_2(SO_4)_3$ and 0.93mM of $FeCl_3$. The removal efficiencies at optimum $Al_2(SO_4)_3$ dose were 75%($TCOD_{Cr}$), 97%(TP), 95%(SS) and 96%(turbidity), respectively. And the removal efficiency of particles with less than $5{\mu}m$ of diameter was 70% and that of particles with higher than $5{\mu}m$ of diameter was 90%. The optimum alum dose in lab scale HRCS was 150mg/L, and the treatment efficiency was the best with addition of 1.0mg/L polymer. The effect of Micro sand addition was not clear, because the depth of the sediment tank in lab scale HRCS was not long enough. But the HRT of this lab scale HRCS was able to be shorten less then 7 minutes by adding the micro sand. The surface loading rates with respect to using different chemicals were 0.43m/h with alum only, 5.78m/h with alum and polymer and 6.22m/h with alum, polymer and micro sand. As a result, HRCS using coagulant, polymer and micro sand developed in this study was evaluated to be very effective for CSOs treatment.
