Importance of Store Attributes and Purchase Intention based on Cosmetics Shopping Orientations in the Internet Shopping Malls (인터넷 화장품 소비자의 쇼핑성향에 따른 점포속성 중요도 및 구매의도)

  • This study was attempted to examine female consumers' cosmetics purchasing behavior of subdivided groups according to cosmetics shopping orientation in cosmetics purchasing and to suggest basic information applicable to marketing. The sample was taken from 698 women who were aged twenties through thirties living in Korea. A total of 400 questionnaires were used in the final statistical analysis using factor analysis, reliability test, ANOVA , Duncan test, and χ²-test. The results of this study were as follows: First, The dimensions of cosmetics shopping orientation were composed of hedonic shopping orientation and utilitarian shopping orientation. Second, Evaluative criteria of internet shopping mall were composed of price and promotion, convenient shopping, reputation. Third, three groups were classified after group analysis of two factors in female consumers' cosmetics shopping orientation: consumers with high hedonic shopping orientation(46.5%), consumers with low hedonic and low utilitarian shopping orientation(29.0%), consumers with high utilitarian shopping orientation(24.5%). Additionally differences of the three groups were examined according to evaluative criteria of internet shopping mall, purchase intention and demographic variables.

  • Purpose: Previous research has found that organizational performance pressures and barriers have an effect on the long-term viability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, MSMEs' intellectual capital and strategic orientation, according to recent research findings, have an impact on this. The goal of this study is to see how intellectual capital and strategic orientation affect MSMEs' performance. Research design, data and methodology: The performance of MSMEs is the dependent variable, with intellectual capital, market orientation, learning orientation, and technical orientation as independent factors. With a sample size of 113 respondents, this research focused on information technology-based MSMEs in Indonesia's Solo Raya area. Data was analyzed use Confirmatory Factor Analysis for the reliability test and path analysis SEM. Results: The interaction between intellectual capital and strategic orientation in respect to MSMEs' performance reveals that innovation capability serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between intellectual capital and technical orientation and organization performance. Conclusions: In general, intellectual capital and strategic orientation have a positive substantial influence on innovation, according to the findings. Furthermore, they have a considerable favorable influence on the performance of MSMEs. It's just that intellectual capital has no discernible impact on knowledge sharing.

Compulsive Buying Behavior, Fashion Orientation, and Self-Esteem among Female College Students in Fashion and Business Majors

  • Compulsive buyers are individuals who experience and routinely act on powerful, uncontrollable urges to purchase. The relationships that existed between compulsive buying behaviors among college undergraduates are associated with intended majors, self-esteem and fashion orientation for female college students between the ages of 18 and 24 were investigated. A random sample of 182 undergraduate students completed a questionnaire that contained measures of compulsive buying, self-esteem, and fashion orientation. Based on literature review, three hypotheses were proposed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson Correlation, and Cronbach Alpha were used. The results found that the compulsive buying tendency is negatively related to self-esteem among college students among female college students. Also, the tendency toward higher levels of fashion-orientation was positively related to compulsive buying tendencies. Fashion major was more prone to have compulsive buying tendency when compared to business major. Based on these results, some implications for educators, marketers, consumers and would be suggested.

The Effect of Sexual Orientation on Suicidal Ideation in Korean High School Students (고등학생의 성적지향이 자살생각에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to identify the relation of sexual orientation and suicidal ideation. Methods: The study includes 33,309 Korean high school students: 31,213 of whom had no experience of sexual intercourse, 1,739 had heterosexual sexual intercourse, 191 had homosexual sex, and 166 had bisexual intercourse. The study used the 12th(2016) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey with complex sample logistic regression. Results: Adjusted confounding variables related to suicidal ideation of participants except for sexual orientation were analyzed, and suicidal ideation was higher in the homosexual and bisexual groups. These two groups showed a higher risk of suicidal ideation (homosexual: OR=2.28, 95% CI:1.54-3.39) (bisexual: OR=2.78, 95% CI:1.61-4.81). Conclusions: The study results showed sexual orientation was associated with suicidal ideation. Further studies and evaluations are needed.

The Effect on CEO Entrepreneurial Orientation on the Innovation and Business Performance in Small and Medium-Sized Venture-Enterprises (중소벤처기업 최고경영자의 기업가지향성이 혁신성과 및 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CEO's entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance and business performance, and the mediating effect of innovation performance on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and business performance in small and medium-sized venture-enterprises (SMEs). To test the hypothesized relationships, we have conducted a survey of Korean SMEs. After excluding unanswered and untrustful item questionnaires, the final sample size for this study is 110 SMEs. The major findings of the empirical research are as follows. First, CEO's entrepreneurial orientation had apositive influence on innovation performance of a firm. Second, CEO's entrepreneurial orientation was positively related to business performance of a firm. Third, innovation performance had the partial mediating effect on the relationship between CEO's entrepreneurial orientation and business performance of a firm. That is, this result indicates that CEO's entrepreneurial orientation indirectly effects on business performance through innovation performance. Based on these findings, implications of the research findings are discussed, and recommendation for future research are provided.

The Impacts of Distribution Channel Governance on the Relationship between Market Orientation and Export Performance (유통경로 관리 지배구조가 시장지향성과 수출성과 관계에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - The objectives of this study are as follows. First, it aims to suggest an analysis model that has integrated the relationship between the two factors and export performance and conduct an empirical analysis of the factors. Second, the study seeks to analyze the mediating effect by setting direct channel governance as a specific activity to connect market orientation, a cultural asset, to export performance. Third, through these analyses, the study intends to apply the relationship between market orientation and direct channel governance that the existing studies have failed to observe comprehensively on SMEs in Korea. Based on these analyses, the study expects to expand the discussion of previous researches by analyzing the mediating effect of direct channel governance. Research design, data, and methodology - This study developed a model that has integrated market orientation, direct channel governance, and export performance. It established 7 hypotheses including the mediating effect of direct channel governance. Market orientation was consisted of customer orientation and competitor orientation, and 4 latent variables were measured by 18 questions. LISREL, an analysis tool of structural equation model, was used for hypothesis test and there were 183 sample for analysis. Results - The analysis results showed that customer orientation has a positive influence on direct channel governance, but competitor orientation did not have a statistically significant effect. On the contrary, export performance showed an opposite result. That is, customer orientation did not have any influence but competitor orientation had a significant influence on export performance. It was also confirmed that there was a significant influence in the relationship between channel governance and export performance. According to the analysis of mediating effect, direct channel governance had a full mediating effect between customer orientation and export performance. Conclusions - The study results demonstrated that it is important to build a direct channel governance on the export SMEs in Korea, especially since the direct channel governance complements the influence of customer orientation that does not directly influence export performance among market orientation activities. This implies that Korean export SMEs must strive to build an effective direct channel governance.

The Effects of Emotional Intelligence on the Customer Orientation and Customer Relationship Management Performance of Hotel Employees (호텔기업 종업원의 감성지능이 고객지향성과 CRM성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose - This study aimed to (a) investigate the effects of emotional intelligence on customer orientation, (b) examine the impact of customer orientation on customer relationship management (CRM) performance (including CRM-related variables such as 'relationship commitment,' 'image of corporation,' and 'customer loyalty'), and (c) identify the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence. Research design, data, and methodology - The data were collected using a questionnaire given to a sample of employees of luxury hotels in the metropolitan area. To test the hypotheses, AMOS were conducted for the 271 respondents of the sample using the SPSS Win 17.0 software. The concept of emotional intelligence (EI) has been on the radar of many leaders and managers over the past few decades. Emotional intelligence is generally accepted to be a combination of emotional and interpersonal competencies that influence behavior, thoughts, and interactions with others. Emotional intelligence consists of four factors: understanding the self's emotion, understanding other people's emotions, emotion utilization, and emotion control. Understanding the self's emotion means to understand of my own emotions. Understanding other people's emotions is to understand of the emotions of the people around me and to know how my friends feel based on their behavior. The concept of emotion utilization means to set goals for myself and then try to achieve them, encouraging myself to do my best. The concept of emotion control means I can control my temper, handle difficult situations rationally, and calm down quickly when I am very angry. Results - As a result of the analysis, three factors (understanding the self's emotion, understanding of other people's emotions, and emotion utilization) were shown to have a significant effect on customer orientation. Emotion control had an insignificant effect on customer orientation. Only emotion control makes it difficult to solve customers' problems because it is a passive behavior. In order to solve the customers' problems, hotel employees have to show a positive attitude. Second, customer orientation had a significant effect on customer relationship management performance (customer relationship commitment, corporate image, and customer loyalty). In other words, customer orientation increases commitment to customer relationships. For example, employees who have a customer-orientated perspective provide good service to their customers, while employees who don't have a customer-orientated perspective can't satisfy their customers. Customer orientation can also generate a good image among customers, because they evaluate the image of a hotel through the behavior of hotel employees. So it is very important for employees to show excellent customer orientation. Conclusions - It is very important for hotel CEOs to manage their employees' emotional intelligence. In order to increase their employees' emotional intelligence abilities, CEOs have to manage the overall corporate culture and reward programs to achieve what they want. This is because the system can lead to a customer-orientated mind-set and CRM performance among employees. As a result, the hotel CEO has to pay attention to the emotional intelligence of employees to achieve strong CRM performance. The sentence as originally written was a bit unclear. The Effects of Emotional Intelligence and Achievement Goal Orientation on Career Maturity of the Elementary Scientific Gifted Students (초등과학영재의 정서지능과 성취목표지향성이 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of emotional intelligence and achievement goal orientation on career maturity for elementary scientific gifted students. For this purpose, emotional intelligence test, achievement goal orientation measure and career maturity test were used. Sample of the study was consisted of 107 science gifted students and 98 general students in Y City, Gyeonggi Province. The results of this study were as follows. First, scientific gifted students showed higher score than general students, whereas general students had highest score in type of avoidance goal orientation of achievement goal orientation. Also, scientific gifted students showed highest score in mastery goal orientation of those. Second, the correlation between emotional intelligence and career maturity of scientific gifted students showed significantly positive score in almost all the subelements. As a result of conducting a regression analysis on the influence of emotional intelligence on career maturity of scientific gifted students, job planning and self-understanding of career maturity were impacted by emotional intelligence, whereas independence was low influence by emotional intelligence. Third, for the correlation between achievement goal orientation and career maturity of scientific gifted students, mastery goal orientation of achievement goal orientation had positive relationship in almost all the subelements, whereas mastery avoidance goal orientation and performance-avoidance goal orientation had negative correlation. Also, as a result of conducting a regression analysis on the influence of achievement goal orientation on career maturity of scientific gifted students, achievement goal orientation had influence on all the subelements of career maturity.

Technological Innovation Orientation: Conceptualization, Measurement, and Its Relationship to Performance (기술혁신지향성: 개념화, 측정 및 성과와의 관계)

  • Despite its theoretically and practically important value, the concept of technological innovation orientation has not been theoretically well established and thus has not been operationalized appropriately in previous studies. Given such a gap in prior research regarding technological innovation orientation, this study proposed a refined conceptualization of technological innovation orientation and a new measurement instrument for capturing the refined concept of technological innovation orientation. More specifically, this study conceptualized technological innovation orientation as having two components of proclivity to technological leadership and openness to technological innovation and developed a measurement instrument for operationalizing the two-dimensional concept of technological innovation orientation. Based on the proposed conceptualization and operationalization of technological innovation orientation, this study also investigated the relationship between technological innovation orientation and firm performance. Based on a sample of 97 Korean IT SMEs, the results demonstrated a high reliability and validity for the measurement instrument developed to operationalize the two-dimensional technological innovation orientation. The results further revealed that technological innovation orientation is positively related to technological innovation performance and that technological innovation performance positively mediates the relationship between technological innovation orientation and financial performance.

A Robust Fingerprint Matching System Using Orientation Features

  • The latest research on the image-based fingerprint matching approaches indicates that they are less complex than the minutiae-based approaches when it comes to dealing with low quality images. Most of the approaches in the literature are not robust to fingerprint rotation and translation. In this paper, we develop a robust fingerprint matching system by extracting the circular region of interest (ROI) of a radius of 50 pixels centered at the core point. Maximizing their orientation correlation aligns two fingerprints that are to be matched. The modified Euclidean distance computed between the extracted orientation features of the sample and query images is used for matching. Extensive experiments were conducted over four benchmark fingerprint datasets of FVC2002 and two other proprietary databases of RFVC 2002 and the AITDB. The experimental results show the superiority of our proposed method over the well-known image-based approaches in the literature.
