준설토의 침강형태에 관한 연구 (Settling Mode of the Dredged Soil)

  • The settling of the dredged soil may vary with mineral composition, grain size distribution, initial water content and salt concentration of suspension of the site. A series of settling column test was performed to investigate the behaviour of solid suspension material from dredging and reclamation. Settling mode was divided into four types from the observation of interface and settling curves of clay minerals and marine clay samples, and the relationship charts of salt concentration and the initial water content were established to use in the dredging operation with any salt concentration. The critical initial water content which was defined as a threshold of zone settling and the consolidation settling was varied with salt concentration of water and was proportional to the plasticity of soil in sea water.

  • Molten salt-water explosion caused by the contact between molten salt and water is one of vapour explosions. An experimental study of the vapour explosion, which occurs when the molten mixture of Na$_2$CO$_3$-NaOH and water come in contact was performed. The pressure wave generated in each composition Of molten mixtures was measured. The results obtained are as follows: 1) The vapour explosion didn't occur for a molten salt of 100%-Na$_2$CO$_3$- 2) For a molten salt of Na$_2$CO$_3$ 80%-NaOH 20% mixture, a small vapour explosion occured initially, and a large vapour explosion, which showed the largest pressure wave among the present experiments, occurred after an induced period. 3) For molten salt of Na$_2$CO$_3$60% - NaOH 40% mixture and Na$_2$CO$_3$ 40% - NaOH 60% mixture, the vapour explosion occurred near the water surface shortly after they come in contact with water. This explosion would be caused by fragmentation of the molten salts due to impulse generated when thee molten salts and water come in contact.

  • Salt attack and freezing & thawing test, one of the combined deterioration tests was performed to explore the mechanism of concrete structure deterioration under marine environment. Simple submerging test was proceeded to draw out its diffusion factor with salt water at the same time. Some of the mechanisms were driven with using three types of cements and four kinds of salt water concentrations. $\circ$ TBC was more durable than OPC or SRC for freezing and thawing action $\circ$ The higher chloride concentration of salt water was, the faster relative dynamic elastic modulus decreased and the higher the loss of weight was. $\circ$ The diffusion factor of TBC was smaller than those of TBC or SRC at simple submergence of concrete specimens into salt water.

복합재료의 기계적 거동에 염수환경이 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of salt water environment on the mechanical behavior of composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 염수 침수 실험과 염수 분무 실험이라는 두 가지의 실험을 위그선의 구조재료로 사용될 3가지 다른 복합재료 시스템에 대해서 해수와의 접촉에 의한 물성저하를재현하기 위해 수행하였다. 140일간 염수환경하에서 노화시킨 후 탄소섬유 복합재료와유리섬유 복합재료의 인장, 압축, 전단 강성과 강도 및 층간 전단 강도를 측정하였다. 기본 물성파의 비교를 통해서 염수환경이 복합재료의 기계적 물성에 미치는 영향이 평가되었다. 실험을 통해 염수 분무환경과 침수 환경의 차이는 거의 영향을 미치지 않음을 확인하였다. 탄소섬유 복합재료의 경우 인장 물성에 적은 손실이 발생한 반면 유리섬유 복합재료에서는 인장물성의 저하률이 탄소섬유 복합재료에 비해서 큼을 확인하였다. 그리고 모재 지배적 물성들의 큰 물성저하가 관찰되었다. 이를 통해, 염수는 복합재료의 섬유와 모재 사이의 계면을 퇴화시키고, 또한 모재 자체 물성과 유리섬유의 물성을 저하시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

소금의 종류별 미네랄 함량과 외형구조 비교연구 (Comparison of Mineral Content and External Structure of Various Salts)

  • There are several types of salts that classifed into raw salts(Chunil salt, Saeng salt), purified salts (NaCl reagent grade, Hanju salt) and processed salts(Gueun salt, Saeng kum, Bamboo salt) in Korea. Their major element is NaCl but raw salt from sea water contains other minerals such as K, Mg and S. Mineral contents of the various kinds of salt analyzed with ICP-AES and AAS were different, especially on the contents of K, Mg and Ca. Chunil salt was abundant in Ca(1,037ppm), K(3,707ppm), Mg(10,266ppm) and S(7,459ppm), and salt water from the Chunil salt contained small amounts of Pb, Al, Cr and Hg. Processed salts contained high levels of Ca, K, Mg and Fe. Especially, high levels of K, P, Fe and Ge were detected in bamboo salt. Purified salts showed regular crystal form and raw salts exhibited irregular crystal form under the SEM. The processed salts were not crystal form, but fused and irregular round form.

사전수화 벤토나이트 방수재의 염수환경 지하구조물 적용 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Underground Structure Apply Properties to Salt Water Environment of Pre-hydrated Bentonite Waterproofing.)

  • 본 연구는 기존 벤토나이트 방수재가 염수환경의 지하구조물 적용에 있어서 초기 수화에 의한 팽창이 안 됨으로써 염수의 침입을 허용하여 구조물이 누수로 이어지는 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 최근 개발된 사전수화 시킨 형태의 벤토나이트 쉬트에 관하여 염수환경 적용 특성을 중심으로 연구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 사전수화형 벤토나이트 시트를 대상으로 염수환경을 기본 전제조건으로 한 상태에서 점결성, 팽윤성, 투수성 등의 시험을 통하여 그 성능특성의 변화를 중점 고찰하였다. 본 연구결과 염수환경에서 초기 투수를 허용하지 않았으며, 최대 $3kgf/cm^2$ 수압으로 72시간까지 투수가 발생하지 않았다. 점결성과 팽윤성 확인결과 담수환경에서는 겔화의 충분한 진행이 확인 되었고, 염수환경에서는 판상구조의 갈라짐 현상이 보였으나 이는 벤토나이트가 수화하면서 결정층간이 팽윤된 것으로 판단된다. 따라서 방수재 상부에 누름층과 같은 압밀조건이 형성된다면 염수환경의 지하구 조물 적용에 있어서 기대가된다.

WRAP-SALT를 이용한 저수지 염분 추적 (Salinity Routing Through Reservoir using WRAP-SALT)

  • The WRAP-SALT (Water Rights Analysis Package-SALT) simulation includes computation of end-of-month reservoir storage concentrations and mean monthly reservoir outflow concentrations for each month of the simulation. The model computes reservoir storage loads and concentrations based on load balance accounting algorithms and computes concentrations of water released and withdrawn from a reservoir as a function of the volume-weighted mean concentration of the water stored in the reservoir in the current month or previous months. A load budget accounting of the various component load inflows and outflows entering and leaving a reservoir is performed. A time history of storage concentrations computed for previous months is maintained for use in the lag procedure. This study presents computational methods for routing salinity through reservoirs for incorporation into WRAP-SALT simulation routines and methods for determining values for the parameters of the routing methods.

단기간의 에리스리톨 소금 섭취가 흰쥐의 요 중 전해질 배출에 미치는 영향 (Effects of short-term supplementation of erythritol-salt on urinary electrolyte excretion in rats)

  • 본 연구는 ET가 함유된 소금의 섭취가 요를 통한 나트륨 배출에 미치는 단기간의 효과를 확인하기 위하여 연구를 수행하였다. 실험기간 동안 일반소금을 섭취한 대조군, ET가 함유된 소금을 섭취한 실험군 Salt + ET에서 식이섭취 및 체중증가는 Day 7에는 통계적으로 유의적인 차이가 없었으나 물 섭취량은 Day 1과 Day 7에서 모두 Salt + ET에서 높은 경향을 보였다. 요량을 측정한 결과 Salt와 비교하여 ET를 섭취한 Salt + ET에서 약 27% 높았으며 Day 1과 Day 7에서 모두 통계적으로 유의적인 증가가 관찰되었다 (p < 0.05). 시험기간 동안 요를 통해 배출된 총 나트륨과 칼륨의 양을 산출한 결과 ET를 섭취한 Salt + ET에서 1일차와 7일차에 모두 높게 나타났으며, 특히 7일차에 ET를 섭취한 Salt + ET에서 유의적으로 증가하였다(p < 0.01). 혈중 나트륨 농도와 칼륨 농도에서는 두 그룹간 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 이러한 결과들을 종합하여 볼 때 단기간의 ET 섭취에도 ET의 이뇨작용으로 인한 요량의 증가를 통해 전해질 배출에 도움을 줄 수 있으며 부작용이 많은 이뇨제들 대신으로 쓰일 수 있는 이뇨제 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 향후 더 많은 연구와 분석들을 통해 혈압 강하제의 잠재적인 효과도 기대할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Cinnamon Plant Extract as Corrosion Inhibitor for Steel Used in Waste Water Treatment Plants and Its Biological Effect on Escherichia coli

  • The inhibition effect of cinnamon plant extract as a green corrosion inhibitor for steel in sulfide polluted salt water was studied by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM). The results showed that cinnamon plant extract in sulfide polluted salt water is a good corrosion inhibitor with inhibition efficiency reached to 80% at 250 ppm of the plant extract. The adsorption of cinnamon obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm, and acts as a mixed-type of inhibitor but dominantly as a cathodic inhibitor in sulfide polluted salt water.

Fates of water and salts in non-aqueous solvents for directional solvent extraction desalination: Effects of chemical structures of the solvents

  • Non-aqueous solvents (NASs) are generally known to be barely miscible, and reactive with polar compounds, such as water. However, water can interact with some NASs, which can be used as a new means for water recovery from saline water. This study explored the fate of water and salt in NAS, when saline water is mixed with NAS. Three amine solvents were selected as NAS. They had the same molecular formula, but were differentiated by their molecular structures, as follows: 1) NAS 'A' having the hydrophilic group ($NH_2$) at the end of the straight carbon chain, 2) NAS 'B' with symmetrical structure and having the hydrophilic group (NH) at the middle of the straight carbon chain, 3) NAS 'C' having the hydrophilic group ($NH_2$) at the end of the straight carbon chain but possessing a hydrophobic ethyl branch in the middle of the structure. In batch experiments, 0.5 M NaCl water was blended with NASs, and then water and salt content in the NAS were individually measured. Water absorption efficiencies by NAS 'B' and 'C' were 3.8 and 10.7%, respectively. However, salt rejection efficiency was 98.9% and 58.2%, respectively. NAS 'A' exhibited a higher water absorption efficiency of 35.6%, despite a worse salt rejection efficiency of 24.7%. Molecular dynamic (MD) simulation showed the different interactions of water and salts with each NAS. NAS 'A' formed lattice structured clusters, with the hydrophilic group located outside, and captured a large numbers of water molecules, together with salt ions, inside the cluster pockets. NAS 'B' formed a planar-shaped cluster, where only some water molecules, but no salt ions, migrated to the NAS cluster. NAS 'C', with an ethyl group branch, formed a cluster shaped similarly to that of 'B'; however, the boundary surface of the cluster looked higher than that of 'C', due to the branch structure in solvent. The MD simulation was helpful for understanding the experimental results for water absorption and salt rejection, by demonstrating the various interactions between water molecules and the salts, with the different NAS types.
