In this study, the numerical analysis of a turbulent flow around both a staggered and an inline tube bundle was conducted using ANSYS CFX V.13, a commercial CFD software. The flow was assumed to be steady, incompressible, and isothermal. According to the CFD Best Practice Guideline, the sensitivity study for grid size, accuracy of the discretization scheme for convection term, and turbulence model was conducted, and its result was compared with the experimental data to estimate the applicability of the CFD Best Practice Guideline. It was concluded that the CFD Best Practice Guideline did not always guarantee an improvement in the prediction performance of the commercial CFD software in the field of tube bundle flow.

Background: Effective near-miss management is important in preventing workplace accidents. A company's inadequate response to near-miss reports can lead workers to feel insecure and dissatisfied with the company. We investigated the relationship between companies' responses to near-miss reports and turnover intentions of workers. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using online self-administered questionnaire survey to workers aged ≥20 years in Japan in March 2022. The analysis included 5,071 participants who had nearmiss experiences and reported them to their companies. The independent variable was companies' responses to near-miss reports, classified into three categories: adequate response group, inadequate response group, and no response group. The dependent variable was turnover intentions. We calculated the odds ratio and 95% confidential interval (CI) using multilevel logistic regression analyses nested for industries and adjusted for covariates. Results: Of the 5,071 participants, 3,058 (60.3%) were adequate response group, 1,484 (29.3%) were inadequate response group, and 529 (10.4%) were no response group. In multivariable adjusted model, compared with adequate response group, the odds ratio of inadequate response group and no response group were 1.80 (95% CI: 1.56-2.08) and 2.63 (95% CI: 2.15-3.22), respectively. Conclusion: Our results suggested that there was a relationship between companies' responses to the near-miss reports and turnover intentions of workers. It is important not only to collect near-misses but also to respond appropriately to the reports and provide feedback to workers.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the types of nursing problems in oriental nursing practice. Methods: This study employed a descriptive survey design. Nursing documentation was retrospectively reviewed for patients discharged from an oriental medicine hospital during three months. Nursing diagnoses documented were mapped into the Clinical Care Classification System. Data were summarized using descriptive statistics. Results: Data were collected from 110 patients using nursing documentation. The number of nursing diagnoses documented was 204 with a mean of 1.9 per patient. The frequently occurring nursing diagnoses were 'risk for trauma' (48.0%), 'pain' (13.7%), and 'urinary elimination alteration' (7.8%). According to the Clinical Care Classification system, the safety component (51.5%) was the most common nursing problem in oriental nursing practice. Conclusion: The study finding suggested that major nursing problems in oriental nursing practice were related to patient safety. Therefore, oriental nursing education on patient safety should be emphasized to improve the quality of nursing care in oriental medicine hospitals.

Results: The experimental group who participated in the storytelling-based disaster and safety education program showed a significant increase in disaster response knowledge, and disaster and safety practice scores compared to the control group. Conclusion: It was found that the storytelling-based disaster and safety education programs were effective in increasing disaster response knowledge, and disaster and safety practice. We hope that the storytelling-based disaster and safety education programs can be used in the elderly nursing curriculum in the future, and we suggest it should be applied as a nursing intervention.
Increase of automobiles become today's environmental problem decreasing space for our children's playground. The traffic situation around us shows automobiles over filled the public roads and started to intrude even on the side walks. Children's traffic safety education for the awareness of the danger from traffic mishaps, and for the behavior to cope with preventives measure by continual learning programs in systematized method is very important need in current health education. For this research, the subject was represented by 243 students from 4th grade in D Elementary School located at Daechi-dong, Seoul. During total of 5 weeks (September 4, 1997 to September 30, 1997), lessons were taught to the subject. Lessons consist of traffic safety education and customized education program that were designed and developed specificially for the subject level. In this research, Case group of 3 classes and control group of 3classes were predetermined before subject's degree of knowledge, attitude, and practice was analized. The difference before and after the training of this education was observed to verify the effectively and to find the influential factors of this education program. On September 2-3, survey study was performed after the training. the results of this study were as follows: 1. The knowledge analysis from the comparison between before and after of the training shows case group and control group scored(8.36, 8.86) before the traning, but scored(10.36, 8.52) after the traning. the difference from the result of the case group is statistically significant(p〈0.001). 2. The attitude analysis from the comparison between before and after of the training shows case group and control group scored(48.23, 49.87) before the training, but scored (51.05, 48.45) after the traning. the difference from the result of the case group is statistically significant(p〈0.001) 3. The practice analysis from the comparison between before and after of the training shows case group and control group scored (27.42, 28.08) before the training, but scored(30.49, 28.25) after the training. The differece from the result of the case group is statistically significant (p〈0.001). 4. The correlation analysis of traffic safety education's influence on traffic safety knowledge, attitude, and practice before training shows the relationship between attitude and practice was satistically significant(p〈0.05). The result after the training shows the relationship between knowledge and attitude, attitude and practice, and knowledge and practice was all statistically significant(p〈0.001).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine undergraduate students' level of knowledge, attitude, and confidence toward patient safety. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used. The subjects consisted of 932 senior nursing students who have had clinical practice in nursing schools in a metropolitan city in Korea. The data were collected from March 4th to 28th in 2011. Knowledge, attitude, and confidence on patient safety were measured using self administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: Knowledge of patient safety was relatively low and attitude and confidence were at moderate level. There were statistically significant differences in knowledge, attitude, and confidence toward patient safety according to gender, educational system, grades, satisfaction with nursing major or clinical practice, and experience of patient safety education or patient safety campaign. There was a significant positive correlation among knowledge, attitude and confidence on patient safety. Conclusion: The study findings suggests that concept and skills on patient safety need to be educated systematically during undergraduate curriculum linked with clinical practicum.
Background: While attention has been paid to physical risks in the work environment and the promotion of individual employee health, mental health protection and promotion have received much less focus. Psychosocial risk management has not yet been fully incorporated in such efforts. This paper presents good practices in promoting mental health in the workplace in line with World Health Organization (WHO) guidance by identifying barriers, opportunities, and the way forward in this area. Methods: Semistructured interviews were conducted with 17 experts who were selected on the basis of their knowledge and expertise in relation to good practice identified tools. Interviewees were asked to evaluate the approaches on the basis of the WHO model for healthy workplaces. Results: The examples of good practice for Workplace Mental Health Promotion (WMHP) are in line with the principles and the five keys of the WHO model. They support the third objective of the WHO comprehensive mental health action plan 2013-2020 for multisectoral implementation of WMHP strategies. Examples of good practice include the engagement of all stakeholders and representatives, science-driven practice, dissemination of good practice, continual improvement, and evaluation. Actions to inform policies/legislation, promote education on psychosocial risks, and provide better evidence were suggested for higher WMHP success. Conclusion: The study identified commonalities in good practice approaches in different countries and stressed the importance of a strong policy and enforcement framework as well as organizational responsibility for WMHP. For progress to be achieved in this area, a holistic and multidisciplinary approach was unanimously suggested as a way to successful implementation.
The Finnish risk assessment practice is based on the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act aiming to improve working conditions in order maintain the employees' work ability, and to prevent occupational accidents and diseases. In practice there are hundreds of risk assessment methods in use. A simple method is used in small and medium sized enterprises and more complex risk evaluation methods in larger work places. Does the risk management function in the work places in Finland? According to our experience something more is needed. That is, understanding of common and company related benefits of risk management. The wider conclusion is that commitment for risk assessment in Finland is high enough. However, in those enterprises where OSH management was at an acceptable level or above it, there were also more varied and more successfully accomplished actions to remove or reduce the risks than in enterprises, where OSH management was in lower level. In risk assessment it is important to process active technical prevention and exact communication, increase work place attraction and increase job satisfaction and motivation. Investments in OSH are also good business. Low absenteeism due to illness or accidents increases directly the production results by improved quality and quantity of the product. In general Finnish studies have consistently shown that the return of an invested euro is three to seven-old. In national level, according to our calculations the savings could be even 20% of our gross national product.
Aviation safety is increasingly important to secure the safety of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). A critical activity for enhancing aviation safety is to analyze an accident throughly and to identify causes that can explain it reasonably. The results of such a systematic accident investigation can be effectively used for improving information displays, task procedures, and training systems as well as for reorganizing team structure and communication control system. However, the current practice of analyzing aviation accidents in ROKAF is too superficial and simple to diagnose them systematically. Additionally, the current practice does not give a full consideration to human factors that have been identified as main causes of most of the aviation accidents. With this issue in mind, this study aims to suggest a new approach to analyzing aviation accidents related to human factors. The proposed method is developed on the basis of several models and frameworks about system safety, human error, and human-system interaction. Its application to forty-two human factors-related accidents, which have occurred in ROKAF during the last ten years, showed that the proposed method could be a useful tool for analyzing aviation accidents caused by human factors.
Objectives: To establish foundations for reinforcing radiation safety management in dental facilities. Methods: This study investigated the status of radiation safety management among radiation workers in dental facilities nationwide for a period of six months from July to December in 2018 and analyzed the factors that affect their compliance with radiation safety measures. Results: Compliance with safety measures was higher in the Honam region (p<0.01) and Yeongnam region (p<0.01), in university hospitals and general hospitals (p<0.05), along with an increasing perception of the importance of safety management (p<0.001). Conclusions: It is important to strengthen education about radiation safety management, develop a radiation safety guideline that could be reasonably applied to dental institutions, and implement relevant regulations or legal grounds to promote compliance with these measures.
