간호대학생의 환자안전 역량에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors affecting nursing students' patient safety competencies)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify nursing students' level of critical thinking disposition, communication skills, and self-leadership and to identify factors that affect the patient safety competency of nursing students. Methods: This study employs a descriptive research, method and was conducted from April 20 to May 19, 2022, with students from three nursing colleges in Korea. The collected data were analyzed by frequency and percentage, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. All analyzes were conducted using IBM SPSS 22.0. Results: The results of the multiple regression analysis showed that the regression model was significant (F=17.30, p<.001) and that communication skills (β=.22, p=.001), self-leadership (β=.31, p<.001), patient safety education experience (β=.15, p=.009), and subjects for credit (β=.15, p=.006) explained 28.0% of nursing students' patient safety competency. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a self-leadership and communication skills improvement program and to organize rgular courses safety education subjects to improve the patient safety competency of nursing students.

Wireless safety monitoring of a water pipeline construction site using LoRa communication

  • Despite efforts to reduce unexpected accidents at confined construction sites, choking accidents continue to occur. Because of the poorly ventilated atmosphere, particularly in long, confined underground spaces, workers are subject to dangerous working conditions despite the use of artificial ventilation. Moreover, the traditional monitoring methods of using portable gas detectors place safety inspectors in direct contact with hazardous conditions. In this study, a long-range (LoRa)-based wireless safety monitoring system that features the network organization, fault-tolerant, power management, and a graphical user interface (GUI) was developed for underground construction sites. The LoRa wireless data communication system was adopted to detect hazardous gases and oxygen deficiency within a confined underground space with adjustable communication range and low power consumption. Fault tolerance based on the mapping information of the entire wireless sensor network was particularly implemented to ensure the reliable operation of the monitoring system. Moreover, a sleep mode was implemented for the efficient power management. The GUI was also developed to control the entire safety-monitoring system and to manage the measured data. The developed safety-monitoring system was validated in an indoor testing and at two full-scale water pipeline construction sites.

DC Appliance Safety Standards Guideline through Comparative Analysis of AC and DC Supplied Home Appliances

  • This paper provides a safety guideline for DC supplied home appliances through the comparative analysis of existing safety guideline for AC supplied home appliances. For this purpose, a predictive DC home appliance model is suggested and in special international safety standards of AC appliances are also analyzed. Moreover, a DC distribution system is built to verify the validity of the proposed safety guideline. The detailed analyzing process is explained with help of informative experimental results.

Artificial neural network for safety information dissemination in vehicle-to-internet networks

  • In vehicular networks, diverse safety information can be shared among vehicles through internet connections. In vehicle-to-internet communications, vehicles on the road are wirelessly connected to different cloud networks, thereby accelerating safety information exchange. Onboard sensors acquire traffic-related information, and reliable intermediate nodes and network services, such as navigational facilities, allow to transmit safety information to distant target vehicles and stations. Using vehicle-to-network communications, we minimize delays and achieve high accuracy through consistent connectivity links. Our proposed approach uses intermediate nodes with two-hop separation to forward information. Target vehicle detection and routing of safety information are performed using machine learning algorithms. Compared with existing vehicle-to-internet solutions, our approach provides substantial improvements by reducing latency, packet drop, and overhead.

  • Safety-critical systems related to the railway communications are currently undergoing changes. Mechanical and electro-mechanical devices are being replaced by programmable electronics that are often controlled remotely via communication networks. Therefore designers and operators now not only have to contend with component failures and user errors, but also with the possibility that malicious entities are seeking to disrupt the services provided by theirs systems. This paper discusses the safety strategies employed in the railway communications and proposes a security mechanism for Korean railway communication system.

간호대학생의 의사소통 중요성 인식, 자존감 및 의사소통능력이 환자안전태도에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Perception of Importance of Communication, Self-esteem and Communication skill on Patient Safety attitude of Nursing student)

  • 본 연구는 간호대학생의 의사소통 중요성 인식, 자존감 및 의사소통능력이 환자안전태도에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 시도되었다. 간호학과 3·4학년에 재학 중인 164명을 대상으로 설문지를 이용하여 2019년 5월 17일부터 6월 14일까지 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 빈도, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, 위계적 회귀분석으로 SPSS WIN 23을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과 간호대학생의 의사소통 중요성 인식은 3.75점(5점 척도), 자존감은 3.64점(4점 척도), 의사소통능력은 3.60점(5점 척도), 환자안전태도는 4.44점(5점 척도)으로 나타났다. 환자안전태도는 의사소통 중요성 인식(r=.57. p <.001), 자존감(r=.32. p <.001), 의사소통능력(r=.34. p <.001)과 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 의사소통 중요도 인식(β=.520, p<.001)과 자존감(β=.165, p=.039)이 환자안전태도를 34.9% 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 간호대학생의 환자안전태도을 향상시키기 위해서 의사소통 중요성 인식과 자존감을 향상 시킬 수 있는 프로그램의 개발 및 적용이 필요하다.

  • Research for Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication has been progressed in order to prevent accidents. In this paper, we decided the events that has high frequency accident of between vehicles on the road and we was arranged possible accident scenarios of each event; EEBL, LCW, BSD, FCW, PCW, IMA. When the event occurs between vehicles, we studied how to evaluate whether the information transmitted safely.

안전 코칭 프로그램이 안전행동과 안전 분위기에 미치는 효과 -고속도로 안전순찰원을 중심으로- (An Effect of Safety Coaching Program on Safety Behavior and Climate -Focusing on Expressway Safety Patrol-)

  • This study investigated the impact of a safety coaching program on the safety behavior and safety climate among expressway safety patrols. Four to seven patrols from each of the three branches participated in this study. The safety coaching program was developed based on the GROW model, with main contents including recognizing individual differences, exploring safety values, communicating near-misses, providing effective and efficient feedback, employing non-violent communication, and fostering commitment toward safety behaviors. Additionally, each session included self-monitoring and peer review of each item based on a critical behavior checklist developed for this study, with challenging goals set based on the monitoring and review. The safety coaching program comprised six sessions in three branches, while three other branches were assigned as a control group. A non-equivalent control group experimental design was applied. Dependent variables included observed and perceived safety behavior, safety climate, psychological safety, and feedback. The results indicated that the safety coaching program effectively increased patrols' safety behavior and safety climate. Furthermore, psychological safety and feedback improved. These findings suggest that the developed safety coaching program could serve as an alternative method to enhance safety management for expressway safety patrols. Finally, the implications, limitations, and directions for future research are discussed.

중소병원 간호사의 환자안전 간호활동 영향 요인 (Factors Associated with Patient Safety Care Activity among Nurses in Small-Medium Sized General Hospitals)

  • 본 연구는 중소병원 간호사의 환자안전관리 중요성 인식, 환자안전문화 인식과 조직 의사소통이 환자안전 간호활동에 미치는 영향을 분석하여, 환자안전 간호활동을 증진시키기 위한 보건프로그램 개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 시행되었다. K시에 위치한 200병상 이상의 중소병원 3곳에서 6개월 이상의 재직기간을 가진 간호사 210명을 편의추출 하였고, 2019년 2월 8일부터 15일까지 자료를 수집하였으며, 202부가 최종분석에 사용되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 이용하여 분석하였다. 환자안전관리 중요성 인식은 $3.60{\pm}.49$, 환자안전문화 인식은 $3.39{\pm}.41$, 조직 의사소통은 $3.29{\pm}.45$, 환자안전 간호활동은 $4.08{\pm}.50$이였고 환자안전 간호활동은 환자안전 중요성 인식(r=.597, p<.001), 환자안전문화 인식(r=.626, p<.001) 및 조직 의사소통(r=.559, p<.001)간에 유의한 양적 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 환자안전 간호활동에 환자안전관리 중요성 인식(${\beta}=.258$, p<.001), 환자안전 문화인식(${\beta}=.323$, p=<.001), 조직 의사소통(${\beta}=.160$, p=.044)은 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며(F=53.067, p<.001), 이들 간의 설명력은 43.7%였다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 중소병원 간호사의 환자안전 간호활동을 증진시킬 수 있는 병원 규모별 구체적 특성을 고려한 간호사들의 안전관리 자신감 증진, 비처벌적 환경 조성과 조직의 적극적인 의사소통 형성을 위한 환자안전 간호활동 증진프로그램의 개발이 필요하다.
