Functional safety is the part of the overall safety of a system that depends on the system or equipment operating correctly in response to its inputs, including the safe management of likely operator errors, hardware failures, systematic failures, and environmental changes. One of the essential concepts of functional safety is Safety Integrity Level(SIL). It is defined as a relative level of risk-reduction provided by a safety function, or to specify a target level of risk reduction. In this paper, each element of SIL assessment will be defined. Based on each element, specific process of SIL selection will be established by using flowchart. The flowchart provides a SIL assessment guideline for functional safety engineers. The proposed theory will be verified by applying to a oil refining plant for SIL assessment.

Construction workers are engaged in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards, such as falling, unguarded machinery, or being struck by heavy construction equipment. Despite extensive research in building information modeling (BIM) for safety management, current approaches, detecting safety issues after design completion, may limit the opportunities to prevent predictable and potential accidents when decisions of building materials and systems are made. In this respect, this research proposes a proactive approach to detecting safety issues from the early design phase. This research aims to explore accident precursors and integrate them into BIM for tracking safety hazards during the design development process. Accident precursors can be identified from construction incident reports published by OSHA using a text mining technique. Through BIM-integrated accident precursors, construction safety hazards can be identified during the design phase. The results will contribute to supporting a successful transition from the design stage to the construction stage that considers a safe construction workplace. This will advance the body of knowledge about construction safety management by elucidating a hypothesis that safety hazards can be detected during the design phase involving decisions about materials, building elements, and equipment. In addition, the proactive approach will help the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry eliminate occupational safety hazards before near-miss situations appear on construction sites.

It compared subcontractor with contractor that are wages, the labor hour and labor condition of the work environment back are inferior relative. The subcontractor which basically the contract workers evade the dangerous process or the difficult work, the dirty work back what is called 3D the case which does to keep a business is many. so With life it will be threatened consequent health directly. The possibility where the subcontractor will be exposed to danger work came to be high. Together the reason of subcontract at managing the big business the case which becomes accomplished in objective, about lower the immediacy safety&health problem, subcontractor assigned workers is the actual condition only it could not be deteriorated more in public finance of the supply and enterprise and technical ability insufficiency. Consequently it prevents the subcontract which danger work is insensitive from this research and immediacy of the subcontract workers who is weak hygiene circumstance complement the plan it will be able to secure the immediacy safety&health subcontract workers, substantially to prepare in the hazard subcontract proprietor.
The main objective of this study is to propose a method to enhance building safety using the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) schema in Building Information Modeling (BIM). To achieve this goal, a fire object relationship diagram is created by using the Model View Definition (MVD) and Property Set (Pset) methodology, as well as the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) based object relationship analysis. The proposed method illustrates how to represent objects and tasks related to fire prevention and human safety during a building fire, including variables that are relevant to these aspects. Furthermore, the proposed method offers the advantage of considering both the IFC object hierarchy and the project work hierarchy when creating new objects, thereby expanding the attribute information for fire safety and maintenance. However, upon confirmation via an IFC viewer after development, a problem with the accuracy of mapping between attributes and objects arises due to the issue of proxy representation of related object information and newly added object information in standard IFC. Therefore, in future research, a mapping method for fire safety objects will be developed to ensure accurate representation, and the scope of utilization of the fire safety object diagram will be expanded. Furthermore, efforts will be made to enhance the accuracy of object and task representation. This research is expected to contribute significantly to the technological development of building safety and fire facility design in the future.
Recently, the issue of construction safety is growing. In the construction industry, accidents have continued to increase since 2000. In particular, the number of accident deaths at small and medium-sized construction sites accounts for 72.11% of the total number of accident deaths in the construction industry. For construction safety, prior safety evaluation systems such as Design for safety and safety management plan preparation are in place. However, at construction sites, these systems are recognized as formal legal documents, and their effectiveness is greatly reduced. Therefore, in this study, a linkage model that links design safety review information and safety management plan information was presented so that the safety management plan can be efficiently established. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed process was verified as an example of actual work. The linkage model will contribute to improving the safety management environment at the site by increasing the productivity of safety management work by enabling easy sharing of risk factor information in the construction stage safety management work. The results of this study will be used as basic information for the development of the integrated safety management system.
The TANDEM project is a European initiative funded under the EURATOM program. The project started on September 2022 and has a duration of 36 months. TANDEM stands for Small Modular ReacTor for a European sAfe aNd Decarbonized Energy Mix. Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) can be hybridized with other energy sources, storage systems and energy conversion applications to provide electricity, heat and hydrogen. Hybrid energy systems have the potential to strongly contribute to the energy decarbonization targeting carbon-neutrality in Europe by 2050. However, the integration of nuclear reactors, particularly SMRs, in hybrid energy systems, is a new R&D topic to be investigated. In this context, the TANDEM project aims to develop assessments and tools to facilitate the safe and efficient integration of SMRs into low-carbon hybrid energy systems. An open-source "TANDEM" model library of hybrid system components will be developed in Modelica language which, by coupling, will extend the capabilities of existing tools implemented in the project. The project proposes to specifically address the safety issues of SMRs related to their integration into hybrid energy systems, involving specific interactions between SMRs and the rest of the hybrid systems; new initiating events may have to be considered in the safety approach. TANDEM will study two hybrid systems covering the main trends of the European energy policy and market evolution at 2035's horizon: a district heating network and power supply in a large urban area, and an energy hub serving energy conversion systems, including hydrogen production; the energy hub is inspired from a harbor-like infrastructure. TANDEM will provide assessments on SMR safety, hybrid system operationality and techno-economics. Societal considerations will also be encased by analyzing European citizen engagement in SMR technology safety.
This study aims at investigating basic safety consciousness as preprocessing of the establishment of experience-oriented safety education center in which citizens can have positive and active experience education, based on the data for which the investigators have investigated and analyzed such citizens' safety consciousness as awareness, consciousness and feedback of national safety accident, systematic prevention of safety accident and necessity of first-aid when safety accident happens, focused on citizens in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do where more than 1/3 of the national population live, for the purpose of establishing experience-oriented education center where citizens can be taught to prevent accidents wisely, picking up experiences of large or small accidents up to now. And the findings from the study support the followings : 1) Ordinary people think that danger factors have prevailed in our entire society, and fear that the danger may come to them directly.2) Ordinary people's consciousness of safety accident is low, that is because selfishness and 'take-it-easy' manner have prevailed in our entire society. 3) Ordinary people have the dread of safety accident individually, but they don't know how to deal with safety accident when it happened. 4) Although most people have taken lessons about safety accident, they still feel the need to have systematic education about safety accident. 5) Children and survey-respondents are highly concerned with prevention of safety accident, but there were few people who sent their children to 'safety accident prevention program by outside institute', still less they didn't participate in the above program. And especially they complained a lot about safety education conducted by school. 6) Most people truly felt the need that they should have experience-oriented safety education center to be able to see, hear and experience. The considerations (or suggestions) resulting from the above findings from the study will turn out that people will need such recreation facilities, rest and play space that the family can enjoy as space for the prevention of safety accident, appliance for field lesson and space for developed program, and in light of visitors' convenience, safer and more convenient vehicle service will have to be offered.
