Effects of the Hydrostatic Test and the Operating Condition on Weld Residual Stress at a Safety Nozzle of the Pressurizer (수압시험 및 운전조건이 가압기 안전노즐의 용접잔류응력에 미치는 영향 평가)

  • This paper presents the results of finite element analysis for the effects of hydrostatic test and operating condition on the weld residual stress at dissimilar metal weld of a pressurizer safety nozzle in a nuclear power plant. For the study, the weld residual stress at ambient condition was analyzed using ABAQUS in the first place. After the weld residual stress analysis, the hydrostatic test condition and operating condition was applied to the same model one after another. The weld residual stress was observed to change due to the successive hydrostatic test and operating condition. The axial residual stresses on inner surface of the dissimilar metal weld and HAZ region were decreased by hydrostatic test and operating condition, which gives beneficial effect on preventing primary water stress corrosion cracking.

Residual Stress Analysis for Repair Welding in Dissimilar Metal Weld (보수용접에 따른 이종금속 용접부의 잔류응력 해석)

  • Alloy 600 and Alloy 82/182 materials have been used widely in PWR plants. But these materials are known to be susceptible to PWSCC(Primary Water Stress Corrosion Cracking). Recently, there have been several PWSCC events in major components due to repair welding, because repair welding in the dissimilar metal welds during the construction increases residual stress significantly on the inner surface of welds. In this paper, various residual stress analyses for repair welding were performed using FEM to check the effect of repair welding on residual stress distributions in PZR safety/relief nozzle. The results indicate that for inside surface repair welding, high tensile residual stress is developed on the inside surface of the nozzles.

The Effect of Job Stress Responses on Human Error (직무스트레스 반응이 인적과오에 미치는 영향)

  • Job stress weakens physical ability causing the diseases related to working condition, decreases a production level, and increases mistakes and accidents. This study examined the relationship between job stress and human error, and focused on the moderating effect of age and maintenance type on the relationship between job stress and human error. The study used a quantitative design based on the 450 questionnaires of maintenance personnel in the Air force. The results of multiple regression analysis showed that physiological and psychological stress responses have positively related with human error. In moderating effect test, age appeared to impact on the relationship between physiological/behavioral stress and human error.

Accelerated Life Tests under Gamma Stress Distribution (스트레스함수가 감마분포인 가속수명시험)

  • This paper presents accelerated life tests for Type I censoring data under probabilistic stresses. Probabilistic stress, S, is the random variable for stress influenced by test environments, test equipments, sampling devices and use conditions. The hazard rate, $\theta$ is a random variable of environments and a function of probabilistic stress. In detail, it is assumed that the hazard rate is linear function of the stress, the general stress distribution is a gamma distribution and the life distribution for the given hazard rate, $\theta$is an exponential distribution. Maximum likelihood estimators of model parameters are obtained, and the mean life in use stress condition is estimated. A hypothetical example is given to show its applicability.

Design of a Laboratory Specimen for Simulation of Weld Residual Stress (용접 잔류음력 모사를 위한 시편 설계)

  • The objective of this study is to design a laboratory specimen for simulating residual stress of circumferential butt welding between pipes. Specimen type and method to generate residual stress were proposed based on the review of prior studies and parametric finite element analysis. To prove the proposed specimen type and loading method, the residual stress was generated using the designed specimen by applying proposed method and was measured. The measured residual stress using X-ray diffraction reasonably agreed with the results of finite element analysis considered in the specimen design. Comparison of residual strains measured at several locations on the specimen and given by finite element simulation also showed good agreement. Therefore, it is indicated that the designed specimen in this study can reasonably simulate the axial residual stress of a circumferential butt welding of pipe.

Workers' Job Stress Status and Related Factors - Using Korean Occupational Stress Questionnaire Short Form - (근로자들의 직무스트레스 수준과 관련 요인 - 한국형 직무스트레스 측정도구 단축형을 이용하여 -)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify workers' Job stress status and to analyse the influencing factors. Method: Data were collected from 456 workers with Korean Occupational Stress Questionnaire Short Form(KOSQ SF) and analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA. Results: Total job stress status of men was slightly lower than Korean workers' standard. In case of women, the score of total job stress was lower than Korean workers' standard. The most significant influencing factors to stressors were insufficient sleeping time and self cognitive bad health condition. Among seven domains of job stressors, job demand was affected by 8 characteristics. Conclusion: This study indicated that workers' job stress level were various by their characteristics except workplace size. The development of stress management programs by types of industry is required. On the base of the model program, planning of customized program for every company or employee is required. High job demand, insufficient job control, insufficient sleeping time, bad health condition are the key factors of workers' job stress in this study. The change of workers' health behavior with supportive environment is essential to stress management program. More researches for adding physical environment domain to KOSQ SF are expected.

A Study on Stress Assessment of Standing Gas Pipeline Subjected to Ground-Subsidence (지반 침하를 고려한 도시가스 입상배관의 응력평가)

  • In this study, 120 cases of damage due to ground subsidence of city gas pipeline which is hanging on apartment outer wall were investigated. From the survey results, it was determined to be approximately 100m~200mm ground subsidence occurred and at severe damage, pipeline was cut and the gap was about 50mm between two cut pipeline. Device for measuring the amount of deformation of standing gas pipeline was designed and fabricated. And installed it on apartment outer wall for measuring the deformation due to ground subsidence, after 5 months measurement the amount of ground subsidence was measured to 1.3mm. Stress assessment was conducted based on results of ground subsidence occurred on standing gas pipeline.

A Comparative study on the Disaster Preparedness, Ego-resilience and Disaster Stress by Disaster-related Characteristics of Korean Adults (한국 성인의 재난관련 특성에 따른 재난대비, 자아탄력성과 재난스트레스 비교 연구)

  • Purpose: This study conducted to determine if people perceive differences in disaster preparedness, ego-resilience and disaster stress according to their perception of risk and disaster safety, safety of residence, disaster experience and disaster education experience. Methods: A total of 1,000 subjects voluntarily participated in a nationwide online survey. Data obtained were evaluated using the t-test and ANOVA. Results: The average scores were $2.66{\pm}0.73$, $2.64{\pm}0.81$, $2.89{\pm}0.85$, and $3.62{\pm}0.66$ out of 5 points for -the risk of disaster, disaster safety, safety of residence and interest in disaster, respectively. For 18.6% of the subjects who reported having experience with disaster, fine dust was the most common disaster experienced. Moreover, 50.1% of respondents reported earthquake was the most likely disaster. The disaster preparedness score was $4.91{\pm}3.75$ out of 16 points, ego resilience was $3.38{\pm}0.53$ out of 5 points, and disaster stress was $5.61{\pm}1.77$ out of 10 points. There were significant differences in disaster preparedness, ego-resilience and disaster stress depending on subjects' perception of safety or interest in disaster and their experiences or education regarding disaster. Conclusion: Our results suggest that it is necessary to increase awareness of disaster and to prepare a plan for persistent and systematic disaster education.

The Effect of Driving Specific Characteristics and Life Stress on Traffic Fafety (운전 상황에서의 개인특성과 생활스트레스가 교통안전에 미치는 영향)

  • The objectives of the present research are twofold. First, this research aims to compare the effect of trait characteristics(sensation seeking, social resistance and type-A behavior) with that of driving specific characteristics(driving anger and type-A driving) on problematic driving behavior. Second, the role of life stress as a mediator in the relationships between general trait characteristics and traffic safety index was examined. 1158 licensed commercial vehicle drivers were surveyed and their accident-related records were obtained in this research. Results showed that driving specific characteristics were significant indicators of traffic safety and life stress mediated the relationships between general trait characteristics and traffic safety index. These findings implicate that understanding drivers' driving specific characteristics and their levels of life stress is important to reduce problematic driving behaviors and enhance traffic safety.

Finite Element Analysis on the Strength Safety of a Hybrid Alarm Valve (복합알람밸브의 강도안전성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • This paper presents the strength safety of a hybrid alarm valve by a finite element analysis. The stress and strain of a conventional hybrid alarm valve are calculated for the given maximum test pressure of 2MPa. Especially, the FEM computed maximum stress of a conventional hybrid valve is only 18.6% of yield strength, 370MPa. This means that the conventional valve is designed with a thick thickness of a valve structure. But, new hybrid alarm valve model, which is developed by optimized design method in this study, shows more low level of 43% in maximum stress and strain compared with that of a conventional hybrid valve. These results may recommend the reduction of a weight and a dimension for an optimized hybrid alarm valve.
