Vehicle Mass and Road Grade Estimation for Longitudinal Acceleration Controller of an Automated Bus (자율주행 버스의 종방향 제어를 위한 질량 및 종 경사 추정기 개발)

  • This paper presents a vehicle mass and road grade estimator for developing an automated bus. To consider the dynamic characteristics of a bus varying with the number of passengers, the longitudinal controller needs the estimation of the vehicle's mass and road grade in real-time and utilizes the information to adjust the control gains. Discrete Kalman filter is applied to estimate the time-varying road grade, and the recursive least squares algorithm is adopted to account for the constant mass estimation. After being implemented in MATLAB/Simulink, the estimators are evaluated with the dynamic model and experimental data of the target bus. The proposed estimators will be applied to complement the algorithm of the longitudinal controller and proceed with algorithm verification.

  • There are two methodologies to increase transport capacity of railway. The one is to invest railroad equipment or vehicles, and the other is to improve operation efficiency through optimization. All of these is intended to increase transport capacity by improving line capacity So far, we treat line capacity as the criteria for evaluating investment alternatives or for restricting tram frequencies, and this criteria is calculated statical and experimental numerical formula. But, line capacity has special attribute that change dynamically according to operational condition, so there is a need of new line capacity estimation system. The Purpose of this paper is to present a new line capacity estimation system based on the probability simulation and its applications.

  • 운송기관의 온실가스 저감을 위해 배터리-수소연료전지 하이브리드 철도추진시스템에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이 중 배터리는 빠른 응답 특성으로 하이브리드 철도추진 시스템의 효율을 극대화 시키기 위해 주요 전원으로 사용되고 있어, 시스템의 안전성 및 신뢰성을 높이기 위해 정확한 열화추정이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 사전 모델의 수립이 필요하지 않고 미소 용량 및 폐회로 제어가 가능한 재귀 최소제곱 추정 기법을 이용한 리튬이온 배터리의 SOH 추정 기법을 제안하였으며, 1S18P 배터리 모듈을 통해 열화 추정결과를 검증하였다.

But the problem of control for fire safety of museums should be solved. In connection with it approximate models for estimation el Level ol Fire Safety are developed on the basis of expert's assessment.   • Background: Interfacing-system loss-of-coolant-accident (ISLOCA) has been identified as the most hazardous accident scenario in the typical PWR plants. The present study as an effort to improve the knowledge of the source term to the environment during ISLOCA focuses on an improvement of the estimation method. Materials and Methods: The improvement was performed to take into account an effect of broken pipeline and auxiliary building structures relevant to ISLOCA. An estimation of the source term to the environment was for the OPR-1000 plants by MELOCR code version 1.8.6. Results and Discussion: The key features of the source term showed that the massive amount of fission products departed from the beginning of core degradation to the vessel breach. Conclusion: The release amount of fission products may be affected by the broken pipeline and the auxiliary building structure associated with release pathway.

AEBS Algorithm with Tire-Road Friction Coefficient Estimation (타이어-노면 마찰계수 추정을 이용한 AEBS 알고리즘)

  • This paper describes an algorithm for Advanced Emergency Braking(AEB) with tire-road friction coefficient estimation. The AEB is a system to avoid a collision or mitigate a collision impact by decelerating the car automatically when forward collision is imminent. Typical AEB system is operated by Time-to-collision(TTC), which considers only relative velocity and clearance from control vehicle to preceding vehicle. AEB operation by TTC has a limit that tire-road friction coefficient is not considered. In this paper, Tire-road friction coefficient is also considered to achieve more safe operation of AEB. Interacting Multiple Model method(IMM) is used for Tire-road friction coefficient estimation. The AEB algorithm consists of friction coefficient estimator and upper level controller and lower level controller. The numerical simulation has been conducted to demonstrate the control performance of the proposed AEB algorithm. The simulation study has been conducted with a closed-loop driver-controller-vehicle system using using MATLAB-Simulink software and CarSim Vehicle model.

  • National major facilities have been rigorously investigated using regular safety inspections and precision safety diagnosis since the Special Law for Facilities Safety Management was made in 1995. However, the process of safety inspection and precision safety diagnosis could be doubted due to intervention of facility owner for safety level evaluation, competition to obtain low price order, and low technical skills of inspection companies. Although the management processes for evaluating the inspection companies were used for several years, the process should continue to improve in the safety inspection field. This study analyzed the recent evaluation system and the ratios of insufficient inspection. Estimation of national loss expenses to the insufficient safety inspection was investigated to recognize the necessity for the improvement of facility inspection process and evaluation system.

On-board Capacity Estimation of Lithium-ion Batteries Based on Charge Phase

  • Capacity estimation is indispensable to ensure the safety and reliability of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles (EVs). Therefore it's quite necessary to develop an effective on-board capacity estimation technique. Based on experiment, it's found constant current charge time (CCCT) and the capacity have a strong linear correlation when the capacity is more than 80% of its rated value, during which the battery is considered healthy. Thus this paper employs CCCT as the health indicator for on-board capacity estimation by means of relevance vector machine (RVM). As the ambient temperature (AT) dramatically influences the capacity fading, it is added to RVM input to improve the estimation accuracy. The estimations are compared with that via back-propagation neural network (BPNN). The experiments demonstrate that CCCT with AT is highly qualified for on-board capacity estimation of lithium-ion batteries via RVM as the results are more precise and reliable than that calculated by BPNN.
