A Study on the Development Strategy of Gwangyang Port Using the SWOT/AHP Analysis (SWOT/AHP 분석을 이용한 광양항의 발전 전략에 관한 연구)

  • This study conducted a SWOT/AHP analysis to prepare a developmental strategy for Gwangyang Port. The SWOT analysis is used to analyze internal and external environment in the strategy stage. The SWOT/AHP analysis was proposed by Kurttila et. al. (2000) to improve usefulness of the SWOT analysis. The results of the SWOT analysis confirm what factors are present in the SWOT group. Therefore, when it is combined with the AHP analysis, it evaluated the relative importance of factors gained from the SWOT analysis and used them to develop strategies. To sum up the results, in the SWOT group, opportunity, strong points, threat and weak points were relatively important in a good order. In respect to factors of the SWOT, for a factor of strength, reasonable freight cost, good port site, and broad hinterland were relatively important. As to factors of weakness, absence of an efficient customs system, a complex transport system and port personnel were relatively important. As to factors of opportunity, an improved transport system through building various infrastructures, consistent development of a connected industrial complex, and increased cargos in northeast area were relatively important. As to threat factors, an improved transport system through building various infrastructure, competition with neighboring ports and small complex transport companies were relatively important.

  • The best business strategy leading to innovation and productivity can be achieved by carefully analyzing internal and external environments of a company. Many companies often require, but difficult to find a tool to determine their own internal/external environmental factors including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats(SWOT). SWOT is one analytical base model that is utilized in this research to design semi-automated environmental analysis process. This study investigates on SWOT generation system that is built on existing analysis database created by experts in each field. Companies can search and choose their best expressing environmental elements that are stored in the database. This semi-automated SWOT tool is expected to contribute that companies can recognize their internal capabilities more accurately, and help consider external environment changes around them.

  • The sustainable energy has globally become more important to maintain the future industry. Of various new renewable energy types, hydrogen energy had drawn a lot of attention as clean energy. Therefore, this study applied SWOT-AHP analysis to establish a strategy for the infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry. It drew the factors required to establish the infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry based on the literature review and experts' opinions were surveyed to redesign SWOT Matrix. The AHP analysis is performed to obtain the relative importance of developed factors by pairwise comparisons. Based on research results by applying SWOT analysis and AHP, this paper proposes the development of strategic plan for infrastructure of hydrogen energy industry.

  • 설계VE 프로세스 과정 중 기능분석을 성공적으로 수행하지 위해서는 VE대상의 선정이 중요하다. 그러나 설계VE활동시 대상선정 단계에서 설계VE 집중검토대상을 선정해야 하지만 그 활용성이 미비하였으며, 활용방법에 어려움이 따랐다. 이에 본 연구는 대상선정을 명확하게 하여 차후 기능분석에서 효과적으로 반영할 수 있는 방안으로 SWOT분석을 제안하고자 한다.

  • 기업이 자체적으로 기업환경분석을 하는 방법에는 여러 가지가 있다. 그 중에서 외부요인과 내부요인에 대해 수집된 정보를 통합하고 포괄적으로 분석하는 SWOT분석기법이 많이 사용된다. 그러나 기업이 직접 SWOT분석을 하기가 쉽지 않아 컨설팅 기관을 많이 이용하고 있는 것이 현실이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 데이터베이스를 활용한 SWOT분석을 통해 기업이 자체적으로 기업환경 분석을 할 수 있도록 돕고자 한다. 현재 SWOT분석에 대한 연구는 많았지만 실제로 데이터베이스를 구축하여 결과를 도출하는 방법의 연구는 많지 않다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 많은 정보를 수집하여 데이터베이스를 구축하고 넓은 산업분야에 적용시켜 기업의 의사결정에 도움이 될 수 있도록 연구하고자 한다.

  • 기업 내부 및 외부 환경 요인 분석을 통한 올바른 비즈니스 전략 수립은 기업의 최상의 결과 창출로 이어질 수 있다. 때문에 SWOT(Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Threat) 분석을 통해 기업 내부의 강점요인과 약점요인을 인지하고, 기업 외부의 기회요인과 위협요인을 정확하게 분석하는 과정은 매우 중요하다. 그러나 많은 기업들이 그들의 상대적인 강점요인과 약점요인, 기회요인과 위협요인에 대해 정확하게 판단하지 못하는 경우가 많다. 본 연구는 기업이 환경분석 과정에서 보편적으로 활용하는 분석모델 중 하나인 SWOT 분석을 지원하는 도구를 설계 및 구현한 것으로, 각 분야의 전문가들이 작성한 SWOT 분석 결과를 바탕으로 SWOT 분석 사례 DB를 만들어 사용자가 데이터베이스에 저장되어있는 각각의 환경요소를 조회하여 기업에 적합한 환경요소들을 선택, 수정, 추가하게 함으로써 SWOT 분석 시에 기업들이 고려해야하는 내부 및 외부 환경 요인에 대한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 통해 기업들이 자신의 내부 역량에 대해 보다 정확하게 인지하고, 외부 환경 변화에 대한 고찰을 도울 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Competitiveness Evaluation Factors and Strategic Development for the Port of Busan using the SWOT·AHP Method (SWOT·AHP를 이용한 부산항 경쟁력 평가요인과 발전방향에 관한 연구)

  • This study suggests a strategic direction for developing the Port of Busan based on evaluating and prioritizing the relative importance of competitiveness factors for ports using SWOT analysis and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. The Port of Busan is the world's sixth largest container port and the largest port in South Korea. The Port of Busan constitutes a key industrial infrastructure for an exporting country. Despite the economic and industrial importance of the Port of Busan, little research has examined its strategic development. This study derives a SWOT matrix for evaluating the competitiveness of factors from previous studies and expert reviews, and it constructs a hierarchical analysis structure model based on the SWOT matrix. To deduce a strategic direction for developing the Port of Busan, a questionnaire based on SWOT·AHP was distributed to industrial and academic associations to prioritize competitive factors. This study presents four strategic tactics based on strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T) (S/O, S/T, W/O, and W/T) as strategic directions for developing the Port of Busan. This study will contribute objectively to the overall effort by the government to improve the operation of the Port of Busan and establish development strategies.

  • The competition between many countries for Chinese outbound tourism which have developed at the most fastest speed and has enormous potential in coming years is bitter. So it's important to understand Chinese outbound tourism market and develop strategy to attract Chinese tourists for Korean tourism industry to compete with rival countries. Therefore, this study first researched the environment factors such as population, politics, economy, culture, consumer and competition by reviewing Chinese outbound tourism market and the actual conditions of Chinese tourists to Korea. Then looked out opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses by SWOT analysis. Finally suggested marketing strategy for attracting more Chinese tourists according to SWOT analysis and discussed the role of distribution.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the strategic development plan of the freight forwarding industry in Korea. In order to do this, 20 derailed factors were identified both from previous studies and from brainstorming professionals of the freight forwarding industry and these made info a 3 level hierarchy structure. SWOT/AHP technique identifies the relative weight of each level and composite relative weight of detailed factors. As a result, the strategic development plan of the freight forwarding industry priority in Korea has been proposed.
