  • VR content manipulation equipment is not easy for individuals to access because it requires high prices. Especially, in the case of a system for tracking the motion of the user among the VR contents, a separate optical sensor device using an infrared camera is generally used. The disadvantage of the optical sensor equipment is that the measurable range is dependent on the measurement direction when tracking the rotation motion when using only a single device. In order to solve the above problems, this paper shows that the inertial sensor of the smartphone, which is generally owned by the public, can track the rotational motion of the user regardless of the measurement direction . The system using the LeapMotion is used as the reference system, and the system using the smart phone is defined as the evaluation system, and the usability of the evaluation system is verified by comparing the user satisfaction of the two systems.

  • The purpose of this study was to find the rational method to analyze golf swing with specific property of club shaft. Three subjects were filmed by two high speed digital cameras with 500 fps. The phase analyzed was downswing of each subject. The three-dimensional coordinates of the anatomical landmarks were obtained with motion analysis system Kwon3d 3.0 version and smoothed by lowpass digital filter with cutoff frequency 6Hz. From these data, kinematic and kinetic variables were calculated using Matlab(ver 5.0) The variables for this study were angular velocity and accelerations, which were calculated and following conclusions have been made : 1) Golf swing time of stiff club is faster than that of regular club. 2) In shoulder joint motion of swing with the stiff club, x-stiff showed mort rapid negative acceleration than that of regular club. 3) In regular club, the velocity of club head would be more effective velocity, which was increasing, than those of other clubs before impact. 4) In wrist joint motion of swing with stiff club, x-stiff club showed faster than regular club in the downswing and impact more rapid negative acceleration.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the muscular force of swing using the soft golf club in comparison with the muscular force of swing using normal golf club. The subject was normal adult (twenties) and performed swing motion using normal and soft golf club. And then we compared muscular power soft golf club with normal golf club of the subject. The muscular power of the subject was measured by MP 100(BIOPAC Systems, Inc.). For the analysis of muscular power of swing using soft golf club, we measured EMG(Electromyography) of the subject. The position of muscle was deltoid, latissimus dorsi, external oblique and rectus abdominis of the upper limbs and rectus femoris, biceps femoris, gastrocnemius and soleus of the lower limbs. The result of experiment, muscle pattern of swing using soft golf club was similar to pattern of swing using normal golf club and muscular power of subjects using the soft golf was smaller than normal golf.

  • Background & Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impairment of SVMC(selective voluntary motor control) of the lower extremity by assessing each joints of lower limb and to analyze the motional relationship between each joints of lower limb using SCALE(Selective Control Assessment of the Lower Extremity) during the swing phase of gait cycle in children with spastic diplegia. Method : 11 children with spastic diplegia CP who could walk independently and 10 normal developing children were participated. SCALE(Selective Control Assessment of the Lower Extremity) assessments were conducted for 11 children with CP. Gait analysis were accomplished in all participants. Qualisys motion analysis was used as a statistical tool to assess the motional relationship between hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint in each limb. We used descriptive statistics, cross-tabulation, independent t-test, linear regression to analysis motional relationship between each joints of lower limb using by SPSS ver.17.0. Result : Firstly, there were significant differences in SCALE scores between the cerebal palsy group and the control group in knee joint(p<0.05), but no significant difference in hip and ankle joints during the swing phase of gait cycle. Secondly, the difference of SCALE scores showed no statistical motional difference in knee and ankle joints during the swing phase, and showed significant motional difference in hip joints during the swing phase(p<0.05). Thirdly, there was a liner relationship between the motion of hip and ankle joints during the swing phase. Conclusion : The nature of SVMC(selective voluntary motor control) in each joints of the lower limb may reflect the ability of gait, thus SCALE may be used for assessing and for treating the cerebal palsy patients who are able to walk independently. Also we knew that the impairment of SVMC(selective voluntary motor control) increases from the proximal to the distal joints.

  • The effect of the upstream flow conditions on the disc stability of the swing check valves was investigated at various upstream flow disturbance sources and distances from the tested check valves. The experimental loop was designed and installed to measure the disc positions, disc back stop load, and differential pressure at flow velocities lot 3 inch and 6 inch swing check valves. The selected disturbance sources are elbow and globe valve. The effect of the disc fluctuation is different depending on the type of disturbance and the distance between the disturbance and the check valve. Disturbances generated by elbow and globe valve located upstream from check valve create greater and more violent disc motion than uniform flow.

  • During the operation of crane system in the container yard, it is necessary to control the crane trolley position so that the swing of the hanging container is minimized. Recently an automatic control system with high speed and rapid transportation is required. Therefore, we designed a controller to control the crane system with disturbances and weight change. In this paper, we present the neural network two degree of freedom PID controller to control the swing motion and trolley position. Then we executed the computer simulation to verify the performance of the proposed controller and compared the performance of the neural network PID controller with our proposed controller in terms of the rope swing and the precision of position control. Computer simulation results show that the proposed controller has better performances than neural network PID with disturbances.

  • There is a large number of old athletes participating golf, and the shoulder, especially the nondominant or lead arm, appears to be at greatest risk for golf-related injury during extremes of motion. To reduce and prevent the risk of injury and improve the performance of golf, golfer should understand the biomechanics of the golf swing, increase flexibility, and perform stretching and strengthening exercises regularly .

  • This paper proposes a swing-arm type dual-stage actuator, which consists of a PZT actuator for fine motion and a VCM(Voice Coil Motor) for coarse motion, for SFF ODD(Small Form Factor Optical Disk Drive), in order to achieve fast access speed and precise track following control. We focus our attention on the design and control of the PZT actuator, because there have been a lot of previous researches related to the VCM and dual-stage actuators. Due to the dual cantilever structure, the PZT actuator can generate precise translational tracking motion at its tip where optical pickup is attached at, and the effect of hysteric behavior of the PZT element is reduced. The dynamic model of the PZT actuator is derived by using the Hamilton's principle, and verified by comparing with the experimental frequency response. The sliding mode control is designed in order to be robust against modeling uncertainties. Simulations and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the suggested control scheme.

  • In order to provide basic data to increase the efficiency and stability of seamanship at anchoring, the characteristics of the hull motion including dragging anchor due to external forces were observed at Mokpo and Jinhae anchorage for the avoidance of the typhoon. As a result, it is necessary to check the embedding motion and holding power of the anchor according to at initial position to decrease dragging anchor. Dragging anchor at anchorage seems to have been easily caused according to discrepancy between embedded anchor flukes and the towing direction due to the change in wind direction, rather than the wind speed. This discrepancy, thus, should be considered when anchoring. This test vessel with a small radius of curvature of the stem is relatively vulnerable to the influence of wind direction and wind speed, so it is easy to cause a decrease in the holding power due to an increase in the rate of turn. When the current speed is greater than or equal to 1 knot, the range of the rate of turn is reduced resulting in a relatively increased holding power. In addition, during the swing, the tension of the chain was high according to the angular velocity change of heading at three-quarters of the swing length rather than the left and right ends.
