Effect of search algorithm execution time analysis education on logical thinking of elementary school student (파이썬을 활용한 탐색 알고리즘 수행시간 분석이 초등학생의 논리성에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a Python search algorithm educational program based on execution time to improve the logical thinking of elementary school students. This educational program was developed based on the process of ADDIE model, utilizing the results of pre-demand analysis conducted for 133students in elementary school in ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$. In order to verify the effectiveness of the developed education program, 25 students who participated in the education donation program at ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ University conducted 42 hours of classes during 6 days. The GALT test was used to analyze the educational effects of the pre- and post-test. The results of the analysis show that the SW education program developed in this study can positively affect the logic of elementary school students.

  • In a rapidly changing society with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, future students should have the skills to utilize and organize high-quality knowledge, not the amount of knowledge. With the launch of the revised curriculum in 2015, the curriculum has been reorganized based on competency and the software education has been seeking capabilities such as 'Cultural computing knowledge', 'Computational thinking', and 'Collaborative problem solving skills'. Therefore, practical collaboration tools and education programs that can be used in the field of education are developed based on Pair Programming, which is a specific collaborative learning strategy to develop cooperative problem solving skill. The educational program using this collaboration tool was developed with a focus on developing computational thinking and collaborative problem solving skills through Pair Programming rather than focusing on learning grammar of programming language and programming techniques. In a educational program, students will be able to use collaborative tools for pair programming and foster collaborative problem-solving skills.

The effects of SW education applying CSCL-based design thinking on Creativity and Problem Solving Skills of Elementary School Students (CSCL 기반 디자인 사고를 적용한 SW교육이 초등학생의 창의성과 문제해결능력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of SW education applying CSCL based design thinking on elementary school students' creativity and problem solving skills. The study was conducted on 28 elementary school students in grades 4,5,6 participated in J university-sponsored educational donation program during the winter break. A SW education program based on design thinking was developed and applied to experimental group. First, we conducted a pre-test to check creativity and problem solving skills. After that, SW education program applying CSCL-based design thinking was conducted for 42 hours. Finally, post-test was conducted to examine creativity and problem solving skills. As a creativity test tool, the TTCT pattern test forms A and B of Torrance were used and analyzed. As the problem solving skills test tool, the problem solving skills test for the elementary school students developed as a life-ability measurement tool were used and analyzed. As a result of the verification, it was found that SW education applying design thinking was effective in improving elementary school students' creativity and problem solving skills.

Analytic Study on the Effectiveness of Computational Thinking based STEAM Program (컴퓨팅 사고력 기반 융합인재교육 프로그램의 효과성 분석 연구)

  • A SW competency based on computational thinking is considered as one of the core competencies in the future society. However, the concept of computational thinking is difficult to be introduced to the class because of the lack of appropriate educational program and the shortage of proper understandings of students and teachers. Thus, we have applied computational thinking based STEAM program and analyzed its effectiveness to explore the educational possibilities of computational thinking. The 49 samples were selected, 23 for the experimental group, and 26 for the control group. Pre-post tests for integrated thinking abilities and computational thinking were done to explore the CT-STEAM program's effectiveness. As a result, the components of integrated thinking abilities, science preference and self-directed learning abilities were enhanced after CT-STEAM instruction. In addition, computational thinking assessment score was statistically significant. We expect new STEAM programs using various computing tools to be developed in the future.

The Effectiveness of Collaborative Learning in SW Education based on Metaverse Platform (메타버스 기반 협력적 소통 SW 교육 프로그램의 효과)

  • The educational environment, where the change to blended learning and AI convergence education through non-face-to-face is accelerating, is based on the cultivation of digital literacy. This study attempted to verify the effectiveness of future competencies by creating a collaborative SW education program on the metaverse platform that emerged by supplementing the problems through non-face-to-face. Twenty programs on how to design and create software were organized for small-scale elementary classes in the metaverse. In order to verify the effectiveness 4C competency tool presented as future educational competency was selected, and homogeneity test for the experimental group and t-test were conducted. The results showed the SW education programs based on metaverse was effective in improving collaborative communication skills, confirming the possibility of SW education through blended learning.

Effects of SW Education Using App Inventor on Computational Thinking and Attitude towards Computer of Elementary School Students (앱 인벤터 활용 SW 교육이 초등학생의 컴퓨팅 사고력과 컴퓨터에 대한 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • SW education is considered important in the present age where various sciences converge. According to this tendency, SW education was included in the regular education course in Korea, which aims to develop the learner's CT. Therefore, researches on CT and educational tools are being activated. App Inventor is a simple app development tool that has many advantages over traditional tools. In this study, we developed and applied a SW instruction program that uses an App Inventor to develop CT for elementary school students. Moreover, CT was classified into two elements-calculative perception and calculative creativity- and performed tests after applying SW instruction programs. Furthermore, attitude towards computer were classified into three elements-c computer anxiety, computer preference, and computer confidence- and conducted tests. After performing paired t-test pretest-posttest matching samples on test outcomes, it was found that the CT of the learners who applied the program was increased, and the attitude towards computer also showed a positive change.

  • As the Ministry of Education has introduced AI education in earnest in the 2022 revised curriculum, there is growing sympathy for the need for data-related education along with AI education. In order to develop the competence to understand and utilize artificial intelligence properly, the understanding and utilization competence of data must be based on it. In this study, a data-driven problem solving SW education program using microbit was developed by synthesizing the results of demand analysis and previous research analysis. The data-driven problem solving education program was developed with educational elements that can be applied to elementary school students among the contents of data science. Through the program developed in this study, education that combines various topics and subjects can be linked based on real-life data. Furthermore, based on an understanding of data, it will lay the foundation for a more substantial AI education program.

Development and application of SW·AI education program for Digital Sprout Camp

  • To foster the core talents of the future, the development of diverse and substantial SW·AI education programs is required, and a systematic system that can assist public education in SW and AI must be established. In this study, we develop and combine SW·AI education modules to construct a SW and AI education program applicable to public education. We also establish a systematic education system and provide sustainable SW·AI education to elementary, middle, and high school students through 'Job's Garage Camp' based on various sharing platforms. By creating a sustainable follow-up educational environment, students are encouraged to continue their self-directed learning of SW and AI. As a result of conducting a pre-post survey of students participating in the 'Job's Garage Camp', the post-survey values improved compared to the pre-survey values in all areas of 'interest', 'understanding and confidence', and 'career aspirations'. Based on these results, it can be confirmed that students had a universal positive perception and influence on SW and AI. Therefore, if the operation case of 'Job's Garage Camp' is improved and expanded, it can be presented as a standard model applicable to other SW and AI education programs in the future.

A Topic Analysis of SW Education Textdata Using R (R을 활용한 SW교육 텍스트데이터 토픽분석)

  • In this paper, to find out the direction of interest related to the SW education, SW education news data were gathered and its contents were analyzed. The topic analysis of SW education news was performed by collecting the data of July 23, 2013 to October 19, 2015. By analyzing the relationship among the most mentioned top 20 words with the web crawling using R, the result indicated that the 20 words are the closely relevant data as the thickness of the node size of the 20 words was balancing each other in the co-occurrence matrix graph focusing on the 'SW education' word. Moreover, our analysis revealed that the data were mainly composed of the topics about SW talent, SW support Program, SW educational mandate, SW camp, SW industry and the job creation. This could be used for big data analysis to find out the thoughts and interests of such people in the SW education.

Study of Unplugged Education Program Based on Play Learning for the Lower Grades of Elementary School (초등저학년 학생을 대상으로 한 놀이학습 기반 언플러그드 교육프로그램 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the unplugged educational program for the lower grades of elementary school. For this, the study was conducted as follows. First, a play-learning-based unplugged education method was discovered, focusing on play activities according to the level of development of elementary school students. Secondly, unplugged educational programs to develop Computational Thinking were designed according to the discovered topics. each class is conducted by storytelling, and the content of the storytelling is related to the integrated curriculum 'Winter'. In addition, each class was analyzed based on the core elements of Computational Thinking ability. And, we developed educational materials that can be used in the designed unplugged educational program. Finally, the educational program was applied to the lower grades of elementary school, and the educational program was analyzed through case studies. As a result of the analysis, the educational program was organized according to the level of the students, and it was confirmed that this educational program is helpful in improving the Computational Thinking of lower grade students of elementary school.
