ECG consists of various waveforms of electric signals of heat. Datamining can be used for analyzing and classifying the waveforms. Conventional studies classifying electrocardiogram have problems like extraction of distorted characteristics, overfitting, etc. This study classifies electrocardiograms by using BP algorithm and SVM to solve the problems. As results, this study finds that SVM provides an effective prohibition of overfitting in neural networks and guarantees a sole global solution, showing excellence in generalization performance.

Ensemble learning is a method for improving the performance of classification and prediction algorithms. However, its performance can be degraded due to multicollinearity problem where multiple classifiers of an ensemble are highly correlated with. This paper proposes genetic algorithm-based optimization techniques of SVM ensemble to solve multicollinearity problem. Empirical results with bankruptcy prediction on Korea firms indicate that the proposed optimization techniques can improve the performance of SVM ensemble.
This study categorizes several voice characteristics by subjective listening assessment, and investigates correlation between voice characteristics and speech feature parameters. A model was developed to classify voice characteristics into the defined categories using SVM algorithm. To do this, we extracted various speech feature parameters from speech database for men in their 20s, and derived statistically significant parameters correlated with voice characteristics through ANOVA analysis. Then, these derived parameters were applied to the proposed SVM model. The experimental results showed that it is possible to obtain some speech feature parameters significantly correlated with the voice characteristics, and that the proposed model achieves the classification accuracies of 88.5% on average.
A robot needs a human detection algorithm for interaction with a human. This paper proposes a method that finds people using a SVM (support vector machine) classifier and a stereo camera. Feature vectors of SVM are extracted by HoG (histogram of gradient) within images. After training extracted vectors from the clustered images, the SVM algorithm creates a classifier for human detection. Each candidate for a human in the image is generated by clustering of depth information from a stereo camera and the candidate is evaluated by the classifier. When compared with the existing method of creating candidates for a human, clustering reduces computational time. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can be executed in real time.
A level set tree provides a useful representation of a multidimensional density function. Visualizing the data structure as a tree offers many advantages for data analysis and clustering. In this paper, we present a level set tree estimation algorithm for use with a set of data points. The proposed algorithm creates a level set tree from a family of level sets estimated over a whole range of levels from zero to infinity. Instead of estimating density function then thresholding, we directly estimate the density level sets using one-class support vector machines (OC-SVMs). The level set estimation is facilitated by the OC-SVM solution path algorithm. We demonstrate the proposed level set tree algorithm on benchmark data sets.

The traditional method of smoke image recognition has low accuracy. For this reason, we proposed an algorithm based on the good group of IMFOA which is GMFOA to optimize the parameters of SVM. Firstly, we divide the motion region by combining the three-frame difference algorithm and the ViBe algorithm. Then, we divide it into several parts and extract the histogram of oriented gradient and volume local binary patterns of each part. Finally, we use the GMFOA to optimize the parameters of SVM and multiple kernel learning algorithms to Classify smoke images. The experimental results show that the classification ability of our method is better than other methods, and it can better adapt to the complex environmental conditions.
A model based on genetic algorithm optimization, GA-SVM, is proposed to warn university students of their status. This model improves the predictive effect of support vector machines. The genetic optimization algorithm is used to train the hyperparameters and adjust the kernel parameters, kernel penalty factor C, and gamma to optimize the support vector machine model, which can rapidly achieve convergence to obtain the optimal solution. The experimental model was trained on open-source datasets and validated through comparisons with random forest, backpropagation neural network, and GA-SVM models. The test results show that the genetic algorithm-optimized radial basis kernel support vector machine model GA-SVM can obtain higher accuracy rates when used for early warning in university learning.
Support vector machine (SVM) is introduced as an effective fault diagnosis technique based on dissolved gases analysis (DGA) for oil-immersed transformers with maximum generalization ability; however, the applicability of the SVM is highly affected due to the difficulty of selecting the SVM parameters appropriately. Therefore, a novel approach combing SVM with improved imperialist competitive algorithm (IICA) for fault diagnosis of oil-immersed transformers was proposed in the paper. The improved ICA, which is proved to be an effective optimization approach, is employed to optimize the parameters of SVM. Cross validation and normalizations were applied in the training processes of SVM and the trained SVM model with the optimized parameters was established for fault diagnosis of oil-immersed transformers. Three classification benchmark sets were studied based on particle swarm optimization SVM (PSOSVM) and IICASVM with four multiple classification schemes to select the best scheme for transformer fault diagnosis. The results show that the proposed model can obtain higher diagnosis accuracy than other methods. The comparisons confirm that the proposed model is an effective approach for classification problems.
In this paper, we measured the user's EEG signal and classified the EEG signal using the Support Vector Machine algorithm and measured the accuracy of the signal. An experiment was conducted to measure the user's EEG signals by separating men and women, and a single channel EEG device was used for EEG signal measurements. The results of measuring users' EEG signals using EEG devices were analyzed using R. In addition, data in the study was predicted using a 80:20 ratio between training data and test data by applying a combination of specific vectors with the highest classifying performance of the SVM, and thus the predicted accuracy of 93.2% of the recognition rate. This paper suggested that the user's EEG signal could be recognized at about 93.2 percent, and that it can be performed only by simple linear classification of the SVM algorithm, which can be used variously for biometrics using EEG signals.

As machines have been automated in the field of industries in recent years, it is a paramount importance to manage and maintain the automation machines. When a fault occurs in sensors attached to the machine, the machine may malfunction and further, a huge damage will be caused in the process line. To prevent the situation, the fault of sensors should be monitored, diagnosed and classified in a proper way. In the paper, we propose a sensor fault detection scheme based on SVM and CNN to detect and classify typical sensor errors such as erratic, drift, hard-over, spike, and stuck faults. Time-domain statistical features are utilized for the learning and testing in the proposed scheme, and the genetic algorithm is utilized to select the subset of optimal features. To classify multiple sensor faults, a multi-layer SVM is utilized, and ensemble technique is used for CNN. As a result, the SVM that utilizes a subset of features selected by the genetic algorithm provides better performance than the SVM that utilizes all the features. However, the performance of CNN is superior to that of the SVM.
