A TSP(Tunnel Seismic Prediction) survey which is modified VSP(Vertical Seismic Profiling) survey applied in tunnel was carried out at Pyongtaek and Incheon liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) storage cavern during excavation. The TSP survey in Pyongtaek LPG storage cavern which is located below Namyangho was performed to confirm the location and orientation of the fault detected at pre-investigation stage. The TSP survey was carried out in access tunnel, construction tunnel, and watercurtain tunnel to characterize 3 dimensional figure of the fault. The results of TSP survey are compared four in vestigation boreholes drilled in shelter of access tunnel. The fault was also detected by borehole survey and the location was coincided with the result of TSP survey. Depending on the result of TSP survey and core logging, the design such as cavern layout and length was changed. Another TSP survey was performed in Incheon LPG storage cavern which is located below sea. Because of poor geological information at pre-investigation stage and suffering from heavy leakage of groundwater, the TSP survey to detect fracture zone was carried out. The support and grouting design was reflected by the result of TSP survey.
Telephone surveys miss, among other people, those who live in homes without telephones, people who are away from home at the time of interview and people who refuse to be interviewed. Recently, mobile phone survey has emerged as “A replacement technology” to the old telephone survey method. Mobile survey enables us to do many things we could not do or could not afford to do before, and reatly enhance the efficiency if the opinion surveys. Very specifically, the mobile survey enables us to control respondent's accessability, interviewer bias and to do incredibly fast and at a affordable costs. The authors analyze the results of mobile-phone local election polls and ELSI bio-technology attitude survey. The authors describe their results, the methods they used, including the use of demographic and propensity weighting to correct for substantial biases in the raw, unweighted data. The results show that mobile survey can predict the election outcomes with approximately equal accuracy to that of the telephone poll after weighting. This paper also cautions readers not to assume that mobile survey can be used with equal success in other elections and emphasizes the need for continuing research to improve mobile survey methods in the future.
There are limitations as to how internet surveys can be used. Applying various weighting procedures has not always resulted in error reduction. A good reference survey would increase the effects of the weighting method, but it is very difficult to get a reference survey for non-demographic weighting variables, which restricts the use of internet surveys. We hypothesized that time use variables could be employed as weighting variables. The time use survey is conducted regularly by KOSTAT and includes various time-related variables. We tested our hypothesis using the 2009 survey results, which had been gathered by KOSTAT in 2009. When we applied weighting variables which were based on the 2004 time use survey results to the online version of the 2009 KOSTAT social survey, the gap between the online and off-line versions was slightly reduced. This result shows that we could use time use survey results to develop a better weighting scheme.
Objectives: The current survey environment is changing and participation rates in national nutrition surveys are decreasing. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop strategies for improving the nutrition survey system in the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). Methods: To develop an alternative system for conducting the KNHANES nutritional survey, we conducted focus group interviews with stakeholders of the survey, SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, and expert reviews. In addition, spatial analysis of potential sites for conducting surveys instead of relying on household visits was performed, and the perception of nutritional surveys in the population eligible for KNHANES was evaluated. Results: Based on the results of the focus group interviews, SWOT analysis, and expert reviews, we propose two options for survey sites: vehicles specifically prepared for nutritional surveys and public facilities such as community service centers or public health centers. Among public facilities, community service centers were found to be more appropriate sites than public health centers because they were considered more accessible. About 90% of respondents would participate in the survey in public facilities and about 74% would in vehicles. Conclusions: Conducting national nutrition surveys in specially designed vehicles and public facilities could be a viable alternative to home visits. Next, the validity of these newly proposed nutrition survey methods needs to be compared to the results of the current national nutrition survey.
This study was conducted in order to examine the quantity of health and medical statistics survey in Medical Records Offices which was required by outside institutions and whether it is profitable for the hospitals or not. The thirteen outside institutions required health and medical statistics of the 24 types of the survey to Medical Records Offices. 16.7% of health and medical statistics of the survey was paid to medical records offices such as the National Cancer Registration Survey, Patient Survey, Tuberculosis Patient Survey, and Hospital Discharge Patients Injury Survey. Medical Records Offices' total length of time for the health and medical statistics survey was over 200 hours per year like the National Cancer Registration Survey, Healthcare Accreditation System and Hospital Discharge Patients Injury Survey. The Medical Record Administrators in the hospitals with fewer than 500 beds work full time from 1 to 3. It is indicated in the study that it is necessary to improve the health and medical statistics survey system in Medical Records Offices required by the outside institutions and to employ additional Medical Record Administrator for more accurate Health and Medical Statistics Survey.
This study introduces integrated approach on detection of a leakage in a sea wall based on remote sensing, electric resistivity survey, electromagnetic survey, and borehole survey for the Seosan A-Region sea wall. The satellite temperature distribution from Landsat ETM+ data identifies water leakage distribution and period by analyzing temperature mixing patterns between sea water and fresh water. Electric resistivity survey provides both horizontal and vertical anomaly distributions over the sea wall showing below average electric resistivity. Electromagnetic survey(electrical conductivity survey) reveals the potential possible leakage areas with minimal background impact by comparing electrical conductivity values between high and low tides. Borehole image processing system confirmed the locations of anomalies identified from the other survey methods and distributions of vertical fracture zones. The integrated approach identified 41.7% of the sea wall being the most probable area vulnerable to water leakage and effectively approximated both horizontal and vertical distribution of water leakage. The integrated analysis of remote sensing, electric resistivity survey, electromagnetic survey and borehole survey is considered to be an optimal method in identifying water leakage distribution, period, and extent of fractures knowledged from the boreholes.
Background : It is increasing the concern for patient satisfaction as a customer information. This study was planned to investigate the activities related to patient satisfaction survey at the Korean hospitals. Methods : We performed the nationwide survey on 235 general hospitals by using the self-administrated checklist from Sep. 9 to Oct. 9, 1996. The response rate were 50.2%. We analyzed the descriptive statistics and chi-square test by SAS software on 118 hospitals. Results : First of all, 62.7% of study hospitals showed to conduct the patient satisfaction survey, and most of hospitals which did not conduct it had a plan to do it within 5 years. The reason that hospitals did not conduct satisfaction survey was due to a lack of administrator's interest or adequate questionnaire form. Second, the bigger, public and being more located in the big city or opened more than 10 years, the more hospitals conducted the patient satisfaction survey. Also, patient satisfaction survey was mainly handled by planning dept. or administrative team. Third, most hospitals had their own way of making questionnaires without proving reliability and validity. The results of the survey were applied to hospital management timely, and were mostly reported to top manager level. Most CEO concerned about the results of satisfaction survey. Fourth, the staffs in charge of survey had problems such as skill related to data analysis and development of questionnaire and they suggested that this problems could be solved through inducing the implementation of the survey results on hospital management, support for the development of standardized questionnaires and increasing the top manager's interests. Fifth, most questionnaires composed of lots of questioning items on hospital equipments and environment, and kindness of hospital employee to patients. Conclusions : Although this study had some limitations in generalization due to low response rate in big hospitals, it is meaningful to find the present state and the problems related to patient satisfaction survey of the general hospitals. We can conclude that there are increasing the concern for patient satisfaction survey among the hospitals nationwide, and it can be needed for technical support related to development of survey tool or method.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a systematic and standardized "The Survey on School Foodservice Program" that can identify the current status of school meals on the nationwide level. Methods: This study was carried out in six steps of the analysis of report/investigation data related to school foodservice in metropolitan and provincial offices of education, analysis of preceding research related to the actual status of school foodservice, field verification of the actual condition of the school foodservice site, development of a draft of "The Survey on School Foodservice Program", pilot study of a draft of "The Survey on School Foodservice Program", and suggestions of a final model of "The Survey on School Foodservice Program" from August to December, 2017. Information system outsourcing induces firms to concentrate on the core competence and to improve business value by utilizing specialized information systems outsourcing vendors. However, for those strategic effects, the outsourced information systems should guarantee a certain service level. Now companies are considering to adopt SLA(Service Level Agreement) as a method to check the service level of the outsourced information systems in quantitative terms. On the contrary, customer satisfaction survey supports qualitative analysis, and helps companies to understand the qualitative effects on information system more systematically. Recently, the growing use of the internet makes customer satisfaction survey to be carried out on the web. For that reason, lots of researches related to web survey have been performed. But these researches are just focused on finding out only items to be measured and the effect of web survey. In this paper, based on the service quality research model for information system outsourcing, we formalize and propose a web survey process, a system architecture, and a functional structure for information system outsourcing customer satisfaction survey. Additionally, we provide the implementation results for the web survey systems.
