  • Over the last few years, streaming audio and video content on Internet sites has increased at unprecedented rates. The predominant method of delivering video over the current Internet is video streaming such as SureStream or Intelligent Stream. Since each method provides the client with only one data stream from one server, it often suffers from poor qualify of pictures in the case of network link congestion. In this paper, we propose a novel method of delivering video stream based on wavelet to a client by utilizing multi-threaded parallel connections from the client to multiple servers and to provides a better way to address the scalability functionalities. The experimental results show that the video quality delivered by the proposed multithreaded stream could significantly be improved over the conventional single video stream methods.

  • This paper presents a computational object model supporting CM(Continuous Media) stream interfaces including QoS(Quality of Service) required in the distributed application method for the proposed stream interface including QoS. A stream interface consists of a data channel and a control channel. In this paper, the CORBA supporting communication channel is used as the control channel and various transport protocols can be used as the dta channel of the stream interface. Also, specifications of the application QoS are included in stream interface specification. In implementation, FIFO queues and timers are used to support transmission rate, delay and jitter control mechanisms of he stream interface.

  • The objective of this study is to determine the influence of free-stream turbulent intensity on the three-dimensional turbulent flow in a linear turbine cascade. The range of free-stream turbulence intensity considered is 0.7~10%. This study was performed numerically. The results show that the mass averaged loss coefficient increased according to the increase of free-stream turbulence intensity due to increased value of the mass averaged total pressure loss coefficient which was higher than the decreased value of the mass averaged secondary flow loss coefficient. The loss coefficient distribution was changed suddenly at a free-stream turbulence intensity of 10% while the loss coefficient distribution was rarely changed at a lower free-stream turbulence intensity of 5%.

  • This study analyzes about the variation of pressure and stream velocity according to the movement of tail wing. The pressure at the front part of airplane becomes lower than at the rear part and the stream velocity has decreased by being bumped against the wing of airplane. The pressure at the front part of rudder becomes higher than at its rear part according to the movement of rudder among the tail wings of airplane. The more stream velocity becomes decreased, the more rudder spreads out. As the tail wing of airplane folds, the pressure at its front part becomes higher. And the pressure at its rear part becomes lower than at its front part. The more tail wing of airplane folds, the more stream velocity becomes decreased.

  • The MILD combustion and pollutant emission characteristics were investigated computationally. The temperature of supplying air-stream and mixing rate (${\Omega}$) of exhaust gas in the air-stream were adjusted to investigate the effects of those parameters on the MILD combustion in jet flow field. The emission indices for NO (EINO) and CO (EICO) were introduced to quantify the amount of those species emitted from the combustion. The high-temperature region disappeared gradually as the mixing rate increased for fixed air-stream temperature. The EINO increased as the air-stream temperature became higher for fixed mixing rate, and the EINO decreased dramatically with increasing the mixing rate for each air-stream temperature condition. The EICO also decreased with increasing the mixing rate and it was nearly independent of air-stream temperature except for near ${\Omega}$ = 0.7. It was found that the CO supplied in the air-stream can be destroyed in the MILD combustion over the certain mixing rate.

  • To investigate the influence of livestock farm's wastewater on the near stream, the water quality of 3 different streams are analysed after seasons. In summer, the minimum T-N in the upper stream was 0.005 ppm and the maximum T-N in the down stream was 5.005 ppm. The phosphate was detected only in down stream of S2 point and was 0.5 ppm. COD was varied from 8 ppm in upper stream to 20 ppm in down stream. In fall, the T-N and the phosphate had shown similar results as that of in summer, however COD was varied from 3 ppm in upper stream to 6 ppm in down stream. In winter, the minimum T-N in the upper stream was 0.053 ppm and the maximum T-N in the down stream was 0.51 ppm. The phosphate was detected only in down stream of S2 point and was 0.5 ppm. COD was varied from 3 ppm in upper stream to 6 ppm in down stream. To be becoming fall and winter, the water quality of streams showed better than that of summer, and the wastewater from the livestock farms had little influence on the near streams.

  • The Cheongdocheon has the reaches under reduction of stream flow. We analysed the cause of the reduction. We investigated the current status of facilities for agricultural water use. We also compared the discharge measurements with the results from the continuous simulation of watershed runoff The satellite image was a tool to find some reaches of stream flow reduction under doubt. Agricultural reservoirs block up the stream and water does not flow over the reservoirs except by storm. They also discharge water through diversion channels and the water diverted does not flow through the natural stream. Farmers directly take water from the stream by weirs. The infiltration gallery of water below the stream ground makes the reach dryness perfect in Kamakchon. These are causes of the stream flow reduction. The discharge measurements are less than the simulation results of watershed runoff, and we guess that the reaches investigated have dried. We found the reaches of stream flow reduction that were under doubt from some KOMPSAT satellite images with the resolution of 6.6 m. Then, we confirmed the reduction of stream flow by a field investigation. All the above reaches have infiltration galleries of water below the stream ground. The research results are a case study on the cause analysis on the reduction of stream flow. One can obtain the KOMPSAT image for a low price and can get prior information to find the doubtful reach of stream flow reduction.

  • This study was carried out to analyze the characteristics of forest environmental and stream morphological factors by using the quantification theory(I) for evaluation of the watershed stability. Present annual mean sediment yield of erosion control dams were investigated in 167 sites of erosion control dam constructed during 1986 to 1999 in Gyeongbuk. The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows; According to the coefficients of partial correlation, each factor affecting to sediment was shown in order of gravel contents, number of first streams order, number of total streams, length of total streams, forest type, length of main stream, parent rock, stand age, soil texture, stream order, slope gradient, soil depth and aspect. Descriptions of class I were as follow; Igneous rock of parent rock, hardwood stands of forest type, less than 20 year of stand age, less than 30cm of soil depth, sandy clay loam of soil texture, more than 41% of gravel contents, south~east of aspect, 2,501~3,500m of length of main stream, 21~25 of number of total streams, 5,501~10,000m of length of total streams, 3 or more than 4 of stream order, more than 16 of number of first stream orders and more than $31^{\circ}$ of slope gradient. Descriptions of class II were as follow; Metamorphic rock of parent rock, coniferous stands of forest type, more than 25 year of stand age, 31~40cm of soil depth, silt loam of soil texture, 11~20% of gravel contents, north~west of aspect, 2,501~3,500m of length of main stream, 16~20 of number of total streams, 3,501~5,500m of length of total streams, 3 of stream order, 11~15 of number of first stream orders and more than $31^{\circ}$ of slope gradient. Descriptions of class III were as follow; Sedimentary rock of parent rock, mixed stands of forest type, more than 25 year of stand age, more than 51cm of soil depth, silty clay loam of soil texture, less than 10% of gravel contents, south~west of aspect, less than 500m of length of main stream, less than 5 of number of total streams, less than 1,000m of length of total streams, less than 1 of stream order, less than 2 of number of first stream orders and less than $25^{\circ}$ of slope gradient. The prediction method of suitable site for erosion control dam divided into class I, II, and III for the convenience of use. The score of class I evaluated as a very unstable area was more than 8.4494. A score of class II was 8.4493 to 6.0452, it was evaluated as a moderate stable area, and class III was less than 6.0541, it was evaluated as a very stable area.

  • Researchers have suggested that the fractal dimension of the stream length is uniform in all the streams of the basin and the estimates of the fractal dimension are in between 1.09 and 1.13 which may be considerably large values. In this study, the fractal dimension for the Ieemokjung subbasin streams in the Pyungchang River basin which is one of the IHP representative basins in Korea are estimated for each stream order using three scale maps of a 1/50,000, 1/25,000, and 1/5,000. As a result, the fractal dimension of the stream length is different by stream order and the fractal dimension of all streams shows a lower value in comparison to that of the previous studies. As a result of the fractal dimension estimation for the Ieemokjung subbasin streams, we found that the fractal dimension of the stream length shows different estimates in stream orders. The fractal dimension of 1st and 2nd order stream is 1.033, and the fractal dimension of 3rd and 4th order stream is 1.014. This result is different from the previous studies that the fractal dimension of the stream length is uniform in all streams of the basin. The fractal dimension for a whole stream length is about 1.027. Therefore, the previous estimates of 1.09 and 1.13 suggested as the fractal dimension of the stream length may be overestimated in comparison with estimated value in this study.
