Epidermal growth factor (EGF) activates many intracellular effector molecules, which subsequently influence the expression levels of many genes involved in cell growth, apoptosis and signal transduction, etc. In this study, the early response of gene expressions due to EGF treatment was monitored using oligonucleotide DNA microarrays in rat schwannoma cell lines. An immunoblotting experiment showed the successful activation of EGF receptors and an effector protein, STAT5, due to EGF treatment. The microarray study showed that 35 genes were significantly induced and 2 were repressed within 60 min after the treatment. The list of induced genes included early growth response 1, suppressor of cytokine signaling 3, c-fos, interferon regulatory factor 1 and early growth response 2, etc. According to the microarray data, six of these were induced by more than 10-fold, and showed at least two different induction patterns, indicating complicated regulatory mechanisms in the EGF signal transduction.

The work presented in this paper is divided into two parts. The first part presents finite urn problems which generate truncated negative binomial random variables. Some combinatorial identities that arose from the negative binomial sampling and truncated negative binomial sampling are established. These identities are constructed and serve important roles when we deal with these distributions and their characteristics. Other important results including cumulants and moments of the distributions are given in somewhat simple forms. Second, the distributions of the maximum of two chi-square variables and the distributions of the maximum correlated F-variables are then derived within the negative binomial sampling scheme. Although multinomial theory applied to order statistics and standard transformation techniques can be used to derive these distributions, the negative binomial sampling approach provides more information and deeper insight regarding the nature of the relationship between the sampling vehicle and the probability distributions of these functions of chi-square variables. We also provide an algorithm to compute the percentage points of these distributions. We supplement our findings with exact simple computational methods where no interpolations are involved.

현재 디지털 TRS는 2.5세대 스타-트리 토폴로지 기반에서 음성중심 서비스를 제공하고 있어 광대역 멀티미디어 서비스를 수용하기에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 패킷망 기반의 메쉬 토폴로지를 설계하고 우선순위 기반 동적 경로설정 알고리즘을 제안하여 우리나라 실정에는 홉수 우선순위기반이 거리 우선순위기반보다 합리적임을 확인하였다. 또한 백본 및 엑세스 망관리센터간의 대역폭을 분석한 뒤 장애와 병목현상을 완화하기 위한 여유용량을 포함하여 트렁크 용량을 산출 하였다.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of four elastomeric interocclusal recording materials and the weight change according to different storage period (24 hours, 48hours, 7days) and different conditions (dry, wet). The techniques for establishing the intercuspal position were centic occlusion interocclusal record with four elastomeric interocclusal recording materials (Ramitec, Stat-BR, Blu-Mousse, Regisil) (experimental groups) and location of the cast in a position of maximum in-terdigitation using tactile and visual method(control group). To evaluate the accuracy of four elastomeric interocclusal recording materials, the quality of contacts between the mounted casts was compared with the results of an occlusal examination of the same subjects. The results were as follows : 1. The most accurate method of articulating study casts at the intercuspal position was by hand articulation and no significant differences in accuracy were observerd among the experimental groups. 2. In case of interocclusal records storaged in dry sealed plastic box, no significant differences in accuracy were observed among the experimental groups. 3. In case of interocclusal records storaged in water, there was significant inaccuracy in Ramitec group. 4. The biggest weight change was observed in Ramitec group in all storage conditions

Chitinase is one of the most important mycolytic enzymes with industrial significance. This enzyme is produced by a number of organisms including bacteria. In this study, we describe the optimization of media components with increased production of chitinase for the selected bacteria, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, isolated from soil. Different components of the defined media responsible for influencing chitinase secretion by the bacterial isolate were screened using Plackett-Burman experimental design and were further optimized by Box-Behnken factorial design of response surface methodology in liquid culture. Maximum chitinase production was predicted in medium containing 4.94 g/l chitin, 5.56 g/l maltose, 0.62 g/l yeast extract, 1.33 g/l $KH_2PO_4$, and 0.65 g/l $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$ using response surface plots and the point prediction tool of the DESIGN EXPERT 7.1.6 (Stat-Ease, USA) software.

분할표 분석에서 승산비 (odds ratio)에 대한 추론은 중요하다. 이에 대한 정확한 추론은 비중심초기하(noncentral hypergeometric) 분포의 누적확률등의 계산이 요구되어 표본의 크기가 클 경우 많은 양의 계산과 계산시간이 요구되므로 StatXact 등의 프로그램을 이용하는 것이 일반적이다. 본 논문에서는 정확한 추론에 대한 대안적 방법으로 안부점 근사(saddlepoint approximation)의 결과를 이용한 점근적 추론법을 제시하였다. 이 방법은 비교적 소표본의 경우에도 정확한 추론의 결과와 일치하며, 기존의 정규근사를 이용한 방법에 비해 매우 뛰어난 정확도를 유지함을 예제를 통해 확인하였다.

Under some pathological conditions such as osteoarthritis, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) including MMP-13 have an important role in degrading cartilage materials. When the regulatory effects of some herbal extracts on MMP-13 expression were examined to evaluate the cartilage-protective potential, the ethanol extract of the radix of Viscum album was found to strongly downregulate MMP-13 induction in IL-1β-treated chondrocytes, SW1353 cells. Based on this finding, activity-guided separation was carried out, which yielded five constituents identified as 3,5-dihydroxy-1,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)heptane (1), hesperetin-7-glucoside (2), syringin (3), homoflavoyadorinin B (4), and 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,6'-dimethoxychalcone-2'-glucoside (5). Of these, 1 and 5 significantly inhibited MMP-13 expression in SW1353 cells, with 5 being the most potent. Compound 5, a chalcone derivative, showed the downregulation of MMP-13 at 20 - 100 μM. The mechanism study revealed that 5 exerted MMP-13 down-regulatory action, at least in part, by interrupting the signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) activation pathway. Furthermore, this compound protected against cartilage degradation in an IL-1-treated rabbit cartilage explant culture. All these findings demonstrated for the first time that Viscum album and its constituents, especially chalcone derivative (5), possessed cartilage-protective activity. These natural products may have the potential for alleviating cartilage degradation.

The S100 family proteins act as inducers of cancer cell apoptosis and inflammatory mediators. This study examined the pro-apoptotic mechanism caused by S100A8 and S100A9 in human FIP1L1-PDGFRα-positive eosinophilic leukemia cells. S100A8 and S100A9 elicited the death of EoL-1 cells in a time and dose-dependent manner. The activation of PDGFRα was suppressed by a decrease in PDGFRα after treatment with S100A8 and S100A9. Cycloheximide, a translation inhibitor, suppressed PDGFRα expression from 1 h to 5 h, and a co-treatment with S100A8 and S100A9 boosted the decrease in expression. The phosphorylation and expression of STAT5 decreased after treatment with S100A8 and S100A9 in EoL-1 and imatinib-resistant (EoL-1-IR) cells. S100A8 and S100A9 induced the chemotaxis of EoL-1 cells but did not affect the chemoattraction of EoL-1-IR. These findings indicate the cell death mechanism due to S100 family proteins and the development of leukemia therapy using S100A8 and S100A9.

Purpose - The main research goals by macroeconomic analysis is to assess the effectiveness of state regulation, the sustainability of development, and the financial stability of the state. Research design, Data, and methodology - The research were analyzed using the methods of multivariate statistics and application of the software package Stat graphics. The volume of data from the 1995 to the 2021 was analyzed by Russian Federation. The scale of research on Belarus: to be analyzed the amount of data from the 2015 by 2021, on Kazakhstan - from the 19941, on Kyrgyzstan - from the 2002, on Tajikistan - from the 2008, on Armenia - from the 2021, on Japan - since the 1970, on China - since the 1950, on South Korea - since the 1953. Result - The methods of multivariate statistics was demonstrated exact of result in forecasting of macroeconomic indicators. The most of tendency with the accurate results of are described using the second-degree polynomials. In the most research of country there are the macroeconomic proportion are broken. Conclusion - In the countries studied, the monetary aggregates have a significant growth rate. The shares with a substantial monetary stock and the speed of its growth are divided in the two groups: having placements in the real sectors of the economy and not having received the same result of development from the growth of the monetary stock.

Purpose: This study was designed to compare health habit and self-rated health status among early adulthood women in 1995, 2001, and 2007. Also, it was performed to determine correlations between health habits and self-rated health status. Methods: This research was investigated to identify a transition of health habits and self-rated health status. Participants who agreed to participate in the study were 18~25years old college women. Data was collected from 380 college students in 1995, 196 college students 2001, and 411 college students in 2007. Health habit assessment questionnaire was developed by authors. The reliability of the questionnaire were Cronbach $\alpha$=.87. Cronbach $\alpha$=.85, Cronbach $\alpha$=.90. The visual analogue scale which had 100 self-rating scores was used. All statistical analyses were used the Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows, Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Levene's test, repeated measure ANOVA, Brown-Forsythe test, Turkey test, Games-Howell test, and Pearson correlation coefficient test. Results: Health habit level, and self-rated heath status were significantly increased over time after 1995. Health habits was correlated with self-rated health status. Conclusion: Health habits and self-rated health status were influenced by health environments. Health practitioner can use perceived health status to access health habits.
