희귀행렬 SS-FEM에 의한 비선형 광섬유의 전송신호 해석 (Analysis of Signal Propagation in Nonlinear Optical Fiber using SS-FEM with Sparse Matrix)

  • Signal propagation in nonlinear optical fiber is analyzed numerically by using SS-FEM (Split-Step Finite Element Method). By adopting cubic element function in FEM, soliton equation of which exact solution was well known, has been solved. Also, accuracy of numerical results and computing times are compared with those of Fourier method, and we have found that solution obtained from using FEM was very relatively accurate. Especially, to reduce CPU time in matrix computation in each step, the matrix imposed by the boundary condition is approximated as a sparse matrix. As a result, computation time was shortened even with the same or better accuracy when compared to those of the conventional FEM and Fourier method.

  • 광섬유에서 전송되는 신호의 예측을 위하여 편미분방정식인 비선형 슈래딩거 방정식(Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation, NLSE)을 단계분할 유한 요소법(Split-Step Finite Element Method, SS-FEM)을 적용하여 해석하였다. 수치결과를 해석적인 해가 알려진 솔리톤의 해로부터 전송되는 거리의 증가에 따라 각 단계마다 오차를 계산하였으며, 그 결과를 단계분할 푸리에법(Split-Step Fourier Method, SS-FM)에 의한 수치해와도 비교하였다.

  • 광섬유 통신 시스템이 고속화되고 장거리를 전송하게 될 수록 편광모드 분산의 중요성은 더욱 부각되어 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 복굴절 광섬유에서 비선형 광펄스의 전파특성을 편광 모드 분산의 영향을 고려하여 시뮬레이션하였으며 이러한 현상이 발생되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 광섬유 비션형성에 의해서 GVD(Group Velocity Dispersion)와 마찬가기로 PMD(Polarization Mode Dispersion)에서도 부분적인 보상 현상이 나타남을 수치 결과를 통해 알 수 있었다. 이러한 광 전송 시뮬레이션을 구현하기 위해서 기존의 단계분할 푸리에 방식 (SS-FM, Split-Step Fourier Method)보다 장거리 전송시 오차의 발생이 적은 단계 분할 유한 요소법)SS-FEM, Split-Step Finite Element Method)을 적용하였으며, 또한 그 단점인 수행 속도를 개선한 희귀 행렬 근사 단계 분할 유한 요소법을 제안하였다. 그 결과 제안된 방법이 기존의 푸리에 연산법이나 일반적인 유한 요소법과 비교하여 더 빠른 수행 속도를 나타내는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • 광섬유에서 전송되는 신호를 예측하기 위하여 일반화된 단계분할 유한요소법 (split-step finite element method, 55-FEM)을 이용한 비선헝 슈뢰딩거 방정식의 해석 방법을 구현하였다. 사용된 방정식은 분산 및 감쇄, 그리고 비선형 효과를 모두 고려하도록 하였다. SS-FEM으로 계산된 수치 결과는 엄밀해와 잘 일치하였음을 확인하였으며, 계산 시간을 푸리에법과도 비교하였다.

  • ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) 조달용 일차벽의 제조 건전성을 검증하기 위해서, 일차벽을 구성하는 Cu/SS mock-up을 제작하여 고열부하 시험을 수행하였다. Cu/SS mock-up은 CuCrZr과 SS316L이 사용되었으며, 두 금속은 $1050^{\circ}C$, 150 MPa의 조건에서 고온등방가압법 (HIP, Hot Isostatic Pressing) 과정을 통해 접합되었다. 시험에 사용된 고열부하 장치는 일본 원자력연구소의 JEBIS (JAEA Electron Beam Irradiation Stand)를 이용하였으며, 시험 조건은 FEM 코드인 ANSYS 해석을 통해 결정하였다. 시험은 $5MW/m^2$의 고열부하를 15초간 인가하고, 30초간 냉각하는 방법으로 수행되었으며, 시험 종료 후 얻어진 시험결과와 해석결과가 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

냉연코일 수송화차 차체의 구조 강도 평가 (Structural strength evaluation of Freight Car Carbody for transportation of cold-rolled coils)

  • The structural strength assessment of a carbody was performed using F.E. analysis and static test to verify the structural safety of newly manufactured carbody of a freight car. The freight car for the transportation of cold-rolled coils in steel making company was designed with SS400 steel for underframe and SM490A steel for bracket. Prior to the evaluation of structural strength, commercial finite element method(FEM) software was used for the stress and structural analyses on stress distribution in a carbody of freight car. The strain gages were attached on the carbody based on the FEM results. The actual vertical loading test and horizontal compression loading test were conducted, and the stress and displacement were obtained. Finally, the structural strength of carbody was evaluated by using a engineering techniques.

  • The Different-volume- V-connection transformer is known as an electric power source that can supply 3-phase electric power and single-phase electric power at the same time. Usually, we use two single-phase transformers that have different volumes. In this paper, we propose the use of a 3-phase 5-leg transformer with the different-volume- V-connection. And, we examine the magnetic properties of the 5-leg core model with the different-volume- V-connection. The magnetic properties of cores with the different-volume- V-connection are compared with those with the delta-connection. In order to express the magnetic anisotropy of the core materials and to calculate the iron loss directly, the two-dimensional vector magnetic property is considered with the E&SS modeling in the simulation.

  • The electronic speckle pattern interferometer (ESPI) has been applied to many technical problems such as deformation and displacement measurement, strain visualization and surface roughness monitoring. In this study, we used an ESPI system based on the dual beam speckle interferometer method in order to measure in-plane displacement and vibration mode using the ESIP technique. This research was carried out for the purpose of applying the vibration analysis method employing Electro-Optic holographic interference technique to the vibration analysis of uniform rectangular cantilevers plate(SS400,STS304) with cantilevers span to breadth ratio of 150 by 75. And thickness of 1mm and 0.8mm respectively. We improved the ESPI technique in order to obtain the distribution of displacement component resolved in one direction through a CCD camera combined with an image processing system. To certify and to assess the accuracy in measuring by this ESPI, the results obtained with the speckle method and vibration mode analysis are to be compared with those results by Warbuton's Theoretical expression and vibration made in FEM analysis.

  • Failure behaviors of thin cylinder with corrosion are very important for the integrity of boiler and pressure vessel system. In this study, FEM with internal pressure are conducted on 1000 mm diameter (length 3000 mm and thickness, 5.9 mm) SS400 carbon steel. Failure behaviors of locally wall thinned cylinders were calculated by elasto-plastic analysis using finite element method. The elasto-plastic analysis was performed by FE code ANSYS. We simulated various types of local wall thinning that can be occurred at cylinder surface due to corrosion. Locally wall thinned shapes were machined to be different in size along the circumferential or axial direction of straight cylinder. In case of local wall thinned length 30 mm, internal pressure, when the crack initiation and the plastic collapse occur, didn't decrease dramatically even though local wall thinned depth was deep. In 400 mm, the more local wall thinned depth is deep, the more internal pressure decreased dramatically. In degraded materials, crack is easily initiation but plastic collapse was difficult.

  • In this paper, the arc beam is considered as a moving disc heat source with a pseudo-Gaussian distribution of heat intensity. The solution for temperature distribution on welds is derived by using the image heat source method and the superposition method. It is general solution in that it can determine the temperature-rise distribution in and around the arc beam heat source, as well as the width and depth of the melt pool (MP) and the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in welding short lengths, where quasi-stationary conditions may not have been established. As a comparative study, the results of this analytical approach has been compared with that of the finite-element modeling. As a result, The theoretical analysis presented here has shown good consistency and is more time/cost-effective method compared with FEM.
