This paper discusses study of torque ripple minimization employing an improved TDF(torque distribution function)-based instantaneous torque control to reduce acoustic noise and vibration problem of the SRM. As the flux linkage of the SRM is a nonlinear function of phase current and rotor position, design of optimal controller for the SRM is quite complicated. Hence, an accurate mathematical model considering the nonlinearity of the SRM is required. An improved TDF based torque control has been proposed in order to reduce the toque ripple at high speed operation. Dynamic simulation using Matlab/Simulink as well as Finite Element Analysis is presented. A prototype SRM for electric vehicle traction has been manufactured to validate the experimental results comparing the dynamic simulation results.
This paper presents a design of a 2-phase segmental stator type 4/3 switched reluctance motor (SRM) for air-blower application. The air-blower requires only one direction rotation, high rotor speed without torque dead-zone. In order to satisfy the requirements of the load, the rotor of the 4/3 proposed SRM is designed with wider rotor pole arc and non-uniform air-gap is applied on the rotor shape. With a special rotor structure, the motor generates a wider positive torque region and has no torque dead-zone. The stator of the proposed SRM is constructed with two segmental C-cores, and there are no magnetic connections between 2 C-cores. The flux follows in a short closed loop in each C-core and has no reversal flux in the stator. The static and dynamic characteristics of the proposed motor are analyzed by the finite element method (FEA) and Matlab-Simulink, respectively. In order to verify the design, a prototype of the proposed motor has manufactured for laboratory test. The performance of the proposed motor is verified by the simulation and experimental results.
The speed and position control of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) needs the encoder or resolver to obtain the rotor position information. These position sensors can be affected by the EMI, dusty, and high temperature surroundings. Therefore the speed and position sensorless control has been studied widely In this paper, the binary observer of the SRM which has two feedback compensation loops to control the speed of SRM is proposed. One loop reduces the estimation error like the sliding mode observer, and the other removes the estimation error chattering occurred in the sliding mode observer. This observer is constructed on the basis of variable structure control theory and has the inertial term to exclude the chattering. This method has a good estimation performance in spite of nonlinear modeling of SRM. The advantages of the proposed method are verified experimentally.
The FEM(Finite Element Method) can be used to analysis SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) as it can account for the salient pole geometry of the stator and rotor and the nonlinear properties of the magnetic materials. However, FEM requirers a lot of computer memory and computing time because, the kind of SRM drivers is verity and the switching strategies are various for one SRM driver. In this paper we proposed the method of analysis of a SRM which results are similar to FEM and has very short computing time. The Inductance and torque for each phase current at each rotor position are calculated by using two-dimensional nonlinear FEM analysis. Using the look-up table of inductance and torque and the voltage equations of SRM we obtained the phase current and torque. To verify proposed algorithm, 3 phase 6/4 SRM is analysed and found a good agreement with FEM results. And computing time is about 1/1600 of the FEM analysis.
The immunosuppressive activity of the Methanol extract of bark of Madhuca longifolia (Koenig) consisting of a mixture of saponins, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, phenol and glycosides was studied on the immune responses in mice. Methanol extract of Madhuca longifolia (MLL) was administered orally at doses of 50, 100 and 150 mg/kg/day to healthy mice divided into four groups consisting of six animals each. The assessment of immunomodulatory activity was carried out by testing the humoral (antibody titre) and cellular (foot pad swelling) immune responses to the antigenic challenge by sheep RBCs. Furthermore, the effect on hematological parameters as well as relative organ weight was determined. On oral administration MML showed a significant decrease delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response whereas the humoral response to sheep RBCs was unaffected. Thus MLL significantly suppressed the cellular immunity by decreasing the footpad thickness response to sheep RBCs in sensitized mice. With a dose of 100 and 150 mg/kg/day the DTH response was $7.66{\pm}2.75$ and $6.41{\pm}1.21$ respectively in comparison to corresponding value of $14.50{\pm}2.38$ for untreated control group. These differences in DTH response were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The study demonstrates that MLL shows preferential suppression of the components of cell-mediated immunity and shows no effect on the humoral immunity.
This study presents a novel twophase eight stator poles and six rotor poles (8/6) switched reluctance machine (SRM) that can compensate for the vibration and noise problems of twophase 6/3 SRM and compare the characteristics of two SRMs. In the case of twophase 6/3 SRM, the short flux path and the flux direction inside the stator are not reversed, so they have high efficiency characteristics. However, the use of three rotor poles causes problems of vibration and noise because the radial force applied to the rotor poles is not balance. The proposed twophase 8/6 SRM has advantages of 6/3 SRM such as the fluxreversalfree stator and it can improve vibration and noise by using six rotor poles due to balanced radial force acting on the rotor poles. In order to make a reasonable comparison between two SRMs, the electromagnetic field structure of 8/6 SRM is designed to have equivalent torque characteristic to 6/3 SRM and then the copper loss and core loss are compared and analyzed. Finally, we compare the effieicney of two SRMs using finite element analysis and compare the distribution of radial force acting on the rotor poles based on Maxwell's stress method.
Single phase switched reluctance motor has a merit in practical use because it has simple operating drives and control systems, very high energy density per unit volume comparing with three phase SRM. But it must have a starting device. This paper presents a single phase SRM model with a stepped rotor pole, so as to reduce the torque ripple. Also it is simulated the designed prototype model by FEM for the prediction of characteristics.
This paper presents a simple torque estimation method and switching angle control of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using Neural Network (NN). SRM has gaining much interest as industrial applications due to the simple structure and high efficiency. Adaptive switching angle control is essential for the optimal driving of SRM because of the driving characteristic varies with the load and speed. The proper switching angle which can increase the efficiency was investigated in this paper. NN was adapted to regulate the switching angle and nonlinear inductance modelling. Experimental result shows the validity of the switching angle controller.
This paper presents a proper switching angle calculation method of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) for drill. The characteristic of SRM drive is very related to the scheduling of commutation angle and current waveforms. Therefore, a selection method of switching turn-on and turn-off angle is suggested for adaptational operation of SRM with varied rotor speed and load. Simulation and experimental results are presented for the validation of proposed method.
This Paper analysis variable characteristics of inductance profiles and basic magnetic fields for Switched Reluctance Motors(SRM). The varying Inductance and flux linkage on operating control condition are very important for developing control algorithm and SRM accurate drive system. Therefore, we have analytical model for varying inductance and flux linkage with simulation and experimental method, and to find an analytical expression for the SRM coenergy. There are shown some good results that comparison of simulated and analytical inductance, flux linkage and current waves.
