Seismic behavior of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) joints with new-type section steel under cyclic loading

  • No significant improvement has been observed on the seismic performance of the ordinary steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns compared with the reinforced concrete (RC) columns mainly because I, H or core cross-shaped steel cannot provide sufficient confinement for core concrete. Two improved SRC columns by constructing with new-type section steel were put forward on this background: a cross-shaped steel whose flanges are in contact with concrete cover by extending the geometry of webs, and a rotated cross-shaped steel whose webs coincide with diagonal line of the column's section. The advantages of new-type SRC columns have been proved theoretically and experimentally, while construction measures and seismic behavior remain unclear when the new-type columns are joined onto SRC beams. Seismic behavior of SRC joints with new-type section steel were experimentally investigated by testing 5 specimens subjected to low reversed cyclic loading, mainly including the failure patterns, hysteretic loops, skeleton curves, energy dissipation capacity, strength and stiffness degradation and ductility. Effects of steel shape, load angel and construction measures on seismic behavior of joints were also analyzed. The test results indicate that the new-type joints display shear failure pattern under seismic loading, and steel and concrete of core region could bear larger load and tend to be stable although the specimens are close to failure. The hysteretic curves of new-type joints are plumper whose equivalent viscous damping coefficients and ductility factors are over 0.38 and 3.2 respectively, and this illustrates the energy dissipation capacity and deformation ability of new-type SRC joints are better than that of ordinary ones with shear failure. Bearing capacity and ductility of new-type joints are superior when the diagonal cross-shaped steel is contained and beams are orthogonal to columns, and the two construction measures proposed have little effect on the seismic behavior of joints.

Experimental study on hysteretic properties of SRC columns with high steel ratio

  • 8 steel reinforced concrete (SRC) columns with the encased steel ratio of 13.12% and 15.04% respectively were tested under the test axial load ratio of 0.33-0.80 and the low-frequency cyclic lateral loading. The cross sectional area of composite columns was $500mm{\times}500mm$. The mechanical properties, failure modes and deformabilities were studied. All the specimens produced flexure failure subject to combined axial force, bending moment and shear. Force-displacement hysteretic curves, strain curves of encased steels and rebars were obtained. The interaction behavior of encased steel and concrete were verified. The hysteretic curves of columns were plump in shapes. Hysteresis loops were almost coincident under the same levels of lateral loading, and bearing capacities did not change much, which indicated that the columns had good energy-dissipation performance and seismic capacity. Based on the equilibrium equation, the suggested practical calculation method could accurately predict the flexural strength of SRC columns with cross-shaped section encased steel. The obtained M-N curves of SRC columns can be used as references for further studies.

  • 3RC, 3SRC, 4SRC, TFM등과 같은 몇몇 디지틀 PRCPM 신호는 정 진폭 특성과 밀집된(Compact) 전력 스펙트럼을 갖는다. 그러나 페이딩하에서 단순한 주파수 검파를 사용했을 때 이들의 BER은 너무 높다. 이는 근접 비트들 때문에 생기는 높은 ISI에 기인한다. 본 논문에서는 하나의 근접 비트 때문에 생기는 ISI 재기를 위해 DFE(Decision Feedback Equalization)을 사용하였고, 이때의 BER 성능 향상을 이론적으로 살펴보았다. 또한, DEF를 사용한 경우와 사용하지 않은 경우의 BER 성능 비교를 위해 수치 결과들을 제시하였다.

  • The effects of hesperetin and naringenin on $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation were investigated in normal rat kidney cells transformed by temperature sensitive Rous Sarcoma Virus (tsNRK). The flavonoids, naringenin and hesperetin, significantly reduced v-Src-induced $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation as well as phosphorylation of Akt and GSK-3 in tsNRK cells, whereas these compounds did not effect on platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)-induced $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation in $NIH3T3{\gamma}l$ cells. In addition, the DNA binding activity of SP-I was also reduced but that of AP-1 was not affected by the compounds. Our study suggests that Src-induced $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation could occur via Akt-GSK-3 pathway without $IkB{\alpha}$ degradation and that naringenin and hesperetin could be used in the treatment of cancer through the inhibition of $NF-{\kappa}B$ activation.

Src Kinase Regulates Nitric Oxide-induced Dedifferentiation and Cyc1ooxygenase-2 Expression in Articular Chondrocytes via p38 Kinase-dependent Pathway

  • Background: Nitric oxide (NO) in articular chondrocytes regulates dedifferentiation and inflammatory responses by modulating MAP kinases. In this study, we investigated whether the Src kinase in chondrocytes regulates NO-induced dedifferentiation and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression. Methods: Primary chondrocytes were treated with various concentrations of SNP for 24 h. The COX-2 and type II collagen expression levels were determined by immunoblot analysis, and prostaglandin $E_2\;(PGE_2)$ was determined by using a $PGE_2$ assay kit. Expression and distribution of p-Caveolin and COX-2 in rabbit articular chondrocytes and cartilage explants were determined by immunohistochemical staining and immunocytochemical staining, respectively. Results: SNP treatment stimulated Src kinase activation in a dose-dependent manner in articular chondrocytes. The Src kinase inhibitors PP2 [4-amino-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-7-(t-butyl)pyrazolo(3,4-d)pyrimidine], a significantly blocked SNP-induced p38 kinase and caveolin-1 activation in a dose-dependent manner. Therefore, to determine whether Src kinase activation is associated with dedifferentiation and/or COX-2 expression and $PGE_2$ production. As expected, PP2 potentiated SNP-stimulated dedifferentiation, but completely blocked both COX-2 expression and $PGE_2$ production. And also, levels of p-Caveolin and COX-2 protein expression were increased in SNP-treated primary chondrocytes and osteoarthritic and rheumatoid arthritic cartilage, suggesting that p-Caveolin may playa role in the inflammatory responses of arthritic cartilage. Conclusion: Our previously studies indicated that NO caused dedifferentiation and COX-2 expression is regulated by p38 kinase through caveolin-1 (1). Therefore, our results collectively suggest that Src kinase regulates NO-induced dedifferentiation and COX-2 expression in chondrocytes via p38 kinase in association with caveolin-1.

폴리프로필렌 기반 자기강화 복합재료의 기계적물성 및 난연성 연구 (Study on Mechanical Properties and Flame Retardancy of Polypropylene Based Self-reinforced Composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 폴리프로필렌(PP), 폴리프로필렌 직조섬유를 이용하여 자기강화 복합재료를 제조하고, 자기강화 복합재료에 암모늄 폴리포스페이트(APP) 및 키토산을 첨가하여 난연 자기강화 복합재료를 개발하였으며, 시험을 통하여 기계적 특성 및 난연성을 확인하였다. 시험결과, 자기강화 복합재료의 기계적 강도는 PP에 비해 크게 향상되었으나, 난연제를 첨가하는 양이 증가함에 따라 강도가 점차 감소하였다. 두 난연제 중에서는 키토산을 첨가한 자기강화복합재료가 APP를 첨가한 자기강화복합재료에 비하여 우수한 강도를 보였다. 난연성의 경우, APP를 첨가할 경우, 키토산을 첨가하는 것 보다 더욱 우수하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 자동차 및 포장산업에서 경량화 및 재활용을 위하여 응용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

ASTROMETRY OF IRAS 22555+6213 WITH VERA: A 3-DIMENSIONAL VIEW OF SOURCES ALONG THE SAME LINE OF SIGHT

  • We report results of the measurement of the trigonometric parallax of an $H_2O$ maser source in IRAS 22555+6213 with the VLBI Exploration of Radio Astrometry (VERA). The annual parallax was determined to be $0.278{\pm}0.019$ mas, corresponding to a distance of $3.66^{+0.30}_{-0.26}kpc$. Our results confirm that IRAS 22555+6213 is located in the Perseus arm. We computed the peculiar motion of IRAS 22555+6213 to be ($U_{src}$, $V_{src}$, $W_{src}$) = ($0{\pm}1$, $-32{\pm}1$, $9{\pm}1$) $km\;s^{-1}$, where $U_{src}$, $V_{src}$, and $W_{src}$ are directed toward the Galactic center, in the direction of Galactic rotation and toward the Galactic north pole, respectively. IRAS 22555+6213, NGC7538 and Cepheus A lie along the same line of sight, and are within $2^{\circ}$ on the sky. Their parallax distances, with which we derived their absolute position in the Milky Way, show that IRAS 22555+6213 and NGC7538 are associated with the Perseus arm, while Cepheus A is located in the Local arm. We compared the kinematic distances of IRAS 22555+6213 derived with flat and non-flat rotation curve with its parallax distance and found the kinematic distance derived from the non-flat rotation assumption ($-32km\;s^{-1}$ lag) to be consistent with the parallax distance.

  • 본 논문은 IEEE 주최 국제대회 "2011 International Future Energy Challenge Competition (IFEC'11)"에 출품한 서울과학기술대팀의 차량탑재형 3.3kW급 배터리 충전기의 개발에 관한 것이다. 제안한 배터리 충전기의 부스트컨버터는 역률보상과 동시에 배터리의 전압 전류 제어를 수행하게 하여 절연부 SRC를 고정주파수에서 동작시킴으로서 전부하 영역에서 스위치와 다이오드의 ZCS 턴온과 턴오프가 성취되고 최적설계가 가능한 특징을 갖는다. 최대효율 94.6%(최대부하효율 92.6%), 부피 7.6L를 달성하였다.

축구 비디오에서 ULBP와 SRC를 이용한 얼굴인식기반의 선수 식별 (A Face Recognition Based Player Identification via ULBP and SRC in Soccer Videos)

  • 얼굴 인식 성능을 저해하는 환경으로 인한 축구 비디오에서의 낮은 선수 인식률과 제한된 해공간의 문제점을 해결하는 차원에서 본 논문에서는 다음과 같은 특징을 갖는 얼굴 인식 기반의 축구선수 인식 방법론을 제안한다: 1) 조명 변화에 민감하지 않은 얼굴 표현 방법인 ULBP를 사용하여 얼굴 인식 성능을 향상시킨다; 2) 얼굴 인식 성능을 저해하는 다양한 환경에서도 이미 강인한 성능이 검증된 SRC를 선수 식별 과정에 적용함으로써 안정적이고 높은 선수 식별 성능을 보장한다; 3) 클로즈업 샷뿐만 아니라 미디엄 샷의 정면, 준정면, 측면 얼굴 이미지를 대상으로 선수 식별의 해공간을 확장한다; 4) SRC의 점증적 갱신 학습 능력으로 축구 선수 얼굴 데이터베이스의 변화에도 능동적으로 적응한다. 실제 2010년 남아프리카 공화국 월드컵의 스페인 경기를 대상으로 제안된 방법론의 성능을 실험적으로 검증한다.

다방향으로 입체 보강된 복합재의 열전도계수 예측 (Prediction of Thermal Conductivity of Spatially Reinforced Composites)

  • 본 연구에서는 체적평균 개념과 열저항 개념을 적용하여 공간적으로 보강된 복합재료의 열전도계수를 예측하였다. 체적평균 개념을 적용한 방법은 기존의 미소기계적 이론들과 좌표변환관계를 이용하고, 열저항 개념을 적용한 방법은 열과 전자의 확산에 대한 유사성을 이용하여 SRC의 단위구조의 열전도계수에 대한 구성방정식을 얻었다. 이론적 예측을 검증하기 위해 4-D SRC에 대해 실험을 수행하였으며, 예측결과와 실험결과가 잘 일치함을 보였다.
