A Novel SOC Estimation Method for Multiple Number of Lithium Batteries Using a Deep Neural Network (딥 뉴럴 네트워크를 이용한 새로운 리튬이온 배터리의 SOC 추정법)

  • For the safe and reliable operation of lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles or energy storage systems, having accurate information of the battery, such as the state of charge (SOC), is essential. Many different techniques of battery SOC estimation have been developed, such as the Kalman filter. However, when this filter is applied to multiple batteries, it has difficulty maintaining the accuracy of the estimation over all cells owing to the difference in parameter values of each cell. The difference in the parameter of each cell may increase as the operation time accumulates due to aging. In this paper, a novel deep neural network (DNN)-based SOC estimation method for multi-cell application is proposed. In the proposed method, DNN is implemented to determine the nonlinear relationships of the voltage and current at different SOCs and temperatures. In the training, the voltage and current data obtained at different temperatures during charge/discharge cycles are used. After the comprehensive training with the data obtained from the cycle test with a cell, the resulting algorithm is applied to estimate the SOC of other cells. Experimental results show that the mean absolute error of the estimation is 1.213% at 25℃ with the proposed DNN-based SOC estimation method.

  • SOC projects entail inherently large-scale works, and need much capital and time. Because of these features, the design activities in SOC projects are performed through a complicated process involving many organizations. A great deal of information is generated and vanished during the process, and the communication among the related organizations plays a very important role in successful fulfillment of SOC projects. But, because the method of information communication has not yet systematically established, there are many difficulties in sharing information. This study aims at establishing the design interface management model which enables the participants to effectively share the information during the design phase. The contents of the study include (1) Restructuring performance organization, (2) A decision making method in collaborative design through partnering with experts, (3) A method to develop Open Design Information Integrated model using Standardization(ODIIS).

  • This Research suggested direction of development and analyzed necessity and given condition of CM(Construction Management) operation system of SOC private infrastructure project which is judged to grow up continuously from now on, Direction of development which is suggested in this research is largely there, (1)development of SOC private infrastructure project CM work standard process guide, (2)development of SOC Private Investment project feasibility study Performance standard, (3)checklist of SOC by stages and functionally private investment projects risk. Through this development, later we judge effect not only supply of a model case to artivate CM system but heightening of efficiency in domestic construction industry.

Treated Olive Cake as a Non-forage Fiber Source for Growing Awassi Lambs: Effects on Nutrient Intake, Rumen and Urine pH, Performance, and Carcass Yield

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of partial replacement of wheat hay with sun-dried (SOC) or acid-treated SOC (ASOC) olive cake on nutrient intake and performance of Awassi lambs. An additional objective was to study the effects of acid treatment of olive cake (OC) on its chemical composition and nutritive value. On DM basis, sun-drying of OC did not dramatically affect its chemical composition. On the other hand, treating SOC with phosphoric acid decreased (p<0.05) SOC contents of neutral detergent fiber. Twenty seven male lambs ($17.6{\pm}0.75$ kg body weight) individually housed in shaded pens were randomly assigned to one of three dietary treatments (9 lambs/treatment). Dietary treatments were formulated to be isocaloric and isonitrogenous by replacing 50% of wheat hay in the control diet (CTL) with SOC or ASOC and to meet all nutrient requirements. Dietary treatments had no effects on nutrient intake or digestibility except for ether extract. Lambs fed the SOC diet had (p = 0.05) faster growth rate, greater final body weight, and greater total body weight gain in comparison with the CTL diet, but not different from the ASOC diet. Additionally, lambs fed the SOC diet had greater (p = 0.03) hot and cold carcass weights than the ASOC diet, but not different from the CTL diet. However, feed conversion ratios and dressing percentages were similar among dietary treatments. In conclusion, replacing half of dietary wheat hay with SOC improved performance of Awassi lambs with no detrimental effects on nutrients intake or digestibility. No further improvements in the nutritive value of SOC and lambs performance were detected when SOC was treated with acid.

Effectiveness Analysis According to the Affiliation of Linear SOC Projects and Cadastral Resurvey Project (선형 SOC 사업과 지적재조사측량의 연계에 따른 효과 분석)

  • "Master Plan of Cadastral Resurvey Project" aims to put the governmental budget of 1.3 trillion Won into the cadastral resurvey project until 2030 that reflects the preliminary feasibility study, conducted by government at 2012. The cadastral Resurvey, which takes 78.8% of the expenses in the project, has to take an critical role for earning the most effective results from the project. The cadastral confirmation surveying take up almost 13% of the project and is controlled under the areal SOC(Social Overhead Capital) projects in current "Master Plan of Cadastral Resurvey Project". Also, the affiliations of cadastral resurvey and linear SOC projects are expected to bring advanced results, although those are excluded from cadastral confirmation surveying. For linear SOC projects, the land division survey is conducted by using boundary stakes in boundary survey, while the cadastral resurvey is conducted within the SOC project area, after the completion of the project. In this study, we could conclude that cadastral resurvey results with the world geodetic system from boundary survey at the point of land division could be produced without the duplication of land division and cadastral resurvey. As a result, the expected benefits are 73,877 parcels and 4,078 million won, annually.

Sense of Coherence and Coping Resources of Working Nurses at Hospital (병원근무 간호사의 통합성과 대처자원)

  • This study was designed to identify the relationship between the level of sense of coherence(SOC) and coping resources of nurses working in hospital. The subjects of this study were 248 nurses working at C University hospital in Seoul. The data was collected during the period from July 1. to July 14. 2001. The insruments for this study were SOC scale by Antonovsky(1987) and Coping Resources Inventory by author. The analysis of data was done by simple statistics, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient with SAS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Total mean SOC was 132.1/203.0 with a range 96.0 to 171.0. The mean score of this item was arranged according to three areas. The meaningfulness was 4.9, managability was 4.7, and comprehensibility was 4.2. 2. Total mean coping resources was 144.5/225.0 with a range 93.0 to 190.0. The highest mean score of item according to the area was social support 4.0 and the lowest mean score was self care coping 2.7. 3. A significant statistical difference between age, religion, spending money and SOC was found. 4. Significant statistical difference between age, educational level, spending money, working period and coping resources were found. 5. Coping resources by the level of SOC was high in the highest group of SOC(F=6.19, p=0.00). With respect to the area of coping resources, higher group of SOC was using much coping resources generally except area of leisure. 6. SOC was positively related to age(r=0.17), working periods(r=0.16), each SOC area, coping resources and all area of them except leisure. 7. The coping resources were positively related to age(r=0.21), working periods(r=0.21), SOC (r=0.49), each coping resources area, and each SOC area. In conclusion, we confirmed that the level of SOC of the subjects was low relatively and the high level of sense of coherence was related to the high score of coping resources. Therefore, it could also contribute to select suitable nurses in their fields. In the future, it's necessary to develop strategies improving SOC.

Development of Scale on Selection, Optimization, Compensation(SOC) Model as Successful Aging Strategies of Korean Elderly (한국노인의 성공적 노화 전략으로서의 선택·최적화·보상(SOC) 척도 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the scale on Selection, Optimization, Compensation(SOC) model as successful aging strategies of Korean Elderly. In first phase of the study, 64 pilot items were collected from researcher's indepth interviews with a purposive sample group of 24 elderly people(16 items) and original SOC scale(48 items). To analyze the factor structure and to verify the validity of the scale, 592 questionnaires collected from survey were divided randomly into 300 developmental samples and 292 validity samples. The items were examined exploratory with developmental samples and confirmatory factor analysis with developmental samples. Two factor analysis supported four factor structure of the SOC consisted of 20 items. Four factors are as follows: 'Elective Selection', 'Loss-Based Selection', 'Opimization', 'Compensation'. The cronbach's alpha estimate of the scale was .930. This scale of four factor model exhibited good fit, assessed by overall fit measure criteria(TLI=.939, CFI=.947, RMSEA=.058). The result of analysis by item response theory for SOC scale is satisfatory. Also, SOC scale was significantly related to the two successful aging scales for Korean elderly and life satisfation scale(SWLS). These results proved the validity of the scale.

  • The Wireless low floor tram uses the energy more effectively than other systems with onboard battery system. But for this the SOC(state of charge) management of the battery system is required. This paper is focused on the SOC management strategy of battery system for propulsion in wireless low floor tram. For minimizing consumption energy, the SOC management strategy that maximizes the regeneration energy is studied. The SOC operating region is divided to overcome the limited life cycle pointed out as a disadvantage of battery system. And the effective energy management strategy of tram is suggested through the charge/discharge of the battery system according to tram status in catenary/catenary-free section.

  • Sealed flooded lead acid batteries are becoming popular in the industry because of their low cost as compared to their counterparts. State of Charge (SOC) estimation has always been an important factor in battery management systems. For the accurate SOC estimation, open circuit voltage (OCV) hysteresis should be modelled accurately. The hysteresis phenomenon of the sealed flooded lead acid battery is discussed in detail and its ultimate modeling is proposed based on the conventional parallelogram method. The SOC estimation is performed by using Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) while the parameters of the battery are estimated using Auto Regressive with external input (ARX) method. The validity of the proposed method is verified by the experimental results. The SOC estimation error by the proposed method is less than 3 % all wing the 125hr test.

  • Recently, researches on SOC(State Of Charge) of batteries are being increased. Techniques of measuring the battery SOC is essential to researches on increasing cycle life of batteries and to electric vehicle battery charging systems. The surface charge phenomenon of lead storage batteries and the needs of SOC measuring techniques are considered. Features of SOC measuring techniques that have been recently developed are also considered.
