Implementation of a Mobile Agent Platform for Handheld Devices to Access the SNMP MIB (SNMP MIB 액세스를 위한 휴대단말기용 이동에이전트 플랫폼)

  • Due to rapid development of high speed wire/wireless internet technologies, at the current age, it cares into being one phenomenon that the internet business is able to work on anyplace and anytime. In this environment, a technology of mobile agent provides very useful mechanism for personal handheld devices because of supporting migration as autonomously executable software object Instead of users. Therefore, this paper focuses on Implementing a mobile agent platform for personal handheld devices, which supports mobile agents in wire/wireless internet environment. To do this, we construct the system with modified JAMAS, based on Java, in our previous research. Based on our proposed system, we implement the browsing application in personal handheld devices to access the MIB(Management Information Base) on SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol), which supervises network environment on wire/wireless internet. This proposed application system is easily to access the MIB managed by SNMP agent. then provides network map viewer and updates the MIB through the browser to network administrator. As a result, we can support application area of mobile agents such as hare network management. M-Commerce, integration of remote database systems, active message and active network with personal handheld devices.

  • Recently it frequently occur that remote host or network device breaks down because of various traffic flooding attacks. This kind of attack is classified an one of the most serious attacks of it can be used to a need of other hackings. This research is gathering system's informations for detecting a traffic flooding attack using the SNMP MIB. We analyze the traffic characteristic applying the critical value commonly used in analytical procedure of traffic flooding attacks. As a result or this analysis, traffic flooding attacks have a special character of its on. The proposed algorithm in this paper would be more available to a previous detecting method and a previous protecting method.

  • Many similarity analysis methods, one of the dispute resolution methods for computer programs, have been studied. This paper is about quantitative similarity analysis of MIB (Management Information Base) file. Quantitative similarity means that the source codes of two computers are analyzed and the results are compared with a certain standard. The source code to analyze is a program that provides network device management functions such as configuration management, fault management, and performance management using SNMP protocol for WiMAX CPE devices. Here, WiMAX refers to the IEEE 802.16 wireless network standard protocol and can be classified into fixed WiMAX and mobile WiMAX. WiMAX CPE is a wireless Internet terminal that is fixedly used in a customer's home or office. In this paper, we analyze the similarity between MIB file of company A and company B. We will analyze whether the MIB file leaked from the damaged company is not just a list to describe the product specifications, but whether the property value can be recognized.

  • 네트워크 망 관리를 위해 사용되는 SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol)는 다양한 네트워크장비에 대해 표준화된 정보를 제공한다. 네트워크의 고속화, 대형화로 인해 관리를 위한 정보 수집 트래픽이 증가하고 정보 수집 시간 지연 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 SNMP를 이용한 정보수집 방법의 문제점을 파악하여 네트워크 관리를 위한 트래픽량을 줄이고, Polling 소비 시간을 최소화하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 관리 대상 시스템의 각 링크의 트래픽 변화 유무를 예측하여 불필요한 수집을 줄이는 방법이다. 관리 대상 시스템이 많고, 주기적으로 관리 정보를 수집하는 경우 제안한 알고리즘이 효율적으로 사용될 것으로 기대된다. Enterprise 네트워크 형태의 학교 Campus NMS에 적용하여 알고리즘의 타당성을 증명하였다.

Forecasting Technique of Line Utilization based on SNMP MIB-II Using Time Series Analysis (시계열 분석을 이용한 SNMP MIB-II 기반의 회선 이용률 예측 기법)

  • In this paper, algorithm is proposed to forecast line utilization using SNMP MIB-II. We calculate line utilization using SNMP MIB-II on TCP/IP based Internet and suggest a method for forecasting a line utilization on the basis of past line utilization. We use a MA model taking difference transform among ARIMA methods. A system for orecasting is proposed. To show availability of this algorithm, some results are shown and analyzed about routers on real environments. We get a future line utilization using this algorithm and compare it ot real data. Correct results are obtained in case of being few data deviating from mean value. This algorithm for forecasting line utilization can give effect to line c-apacity plan for a manager by forecasting the future status of TCP/IP network. This will also help a network management of decision making of performance upgrade.

  • Recently, as traffic flooding attacks such as DoS/DDoS and Internet Worm have posed devastating threats to network services, rapid detection and proper response mechanisms are the major concern for secure and reliable network services. However, most of the current Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) focus on detail analysis of packet data, which results in late detection and a high system burden to cope with high-speed network traffic. In this paper we propose an SNMP-based lightweight and fast detection algorithm for traffic flooding attacks, which minimizes the processing and network overhead of the detection system, minimizes the detection time, and provides high detection rate. The attack detection algorithm consists of three consecutive stages. The first stage determines the detection timing using the update interval of SNMP MIB. The second stage analyzes attack symptoms based on correlations of MIB data. The third stage determines whether an attack occurs or not and figure out the attack type in case of attack.

  • In this paper, we have designed and implemented that PC management system has the function of monitoring and controlling system management MIB defined for PC management using SNMP in PC room. System management MIB consists of monitoring MIB for system and processor information and controlling MIB for backup and restoration. For this, we have added new defined MIB variables to standard MIB and displayed system information, processor information, backup and restoration information of managed PC. And the structure between management system and managed system is shown and process of system information, processor information, backup and restoration of managed PC is illustrated. On real environmental, by monitoring window version, CPU type, system memory and virtual memory and performing backup and restoration of managed PC, actual operation is tested. Management system gathers system information and processor information from managed system and performs backup and restoration for recovering fault of managed system. Hence PC managers can operate and manage many PCs on LAN, efficiently.

  • An SNMP manager requests a value in MIB of a designated object to an agent by management policy defined in the SNMP, and then the agent responds to this manager. So, it causes a lot of networks traffic between them, Specially, repetitious occurrence of sending-receiving information related to the same object is very inefficient when the trend analysis of traffic is performed. In this paper, an efficient SNMP is proposed to add new PDUs to the existing SNMP in order to accept time function. Utilizing this PDU, it minimizes unnecessary sending-receiving information and collects information on trend management appropriately. The implemented SNMP is tested for compatibility with the existing SNMP and decreases the amount of network traffic greatly.

  • 본 논문에서는 TCP/IP 프로토콜을 기반으로 하는 인터넷에서 SNMP의 MIB-II를 활용하여 분석 파라미터를 정의하고 이를 계산하는 알고리즘을 제안하고자 한다. TCP/IP 망의 사용자에게 적절한 QoS를 제공하기 위해서는 성능과 장애에 관련된 파리미터를 기반으로 한 망 관리 행위를 수행해야 한다. 이를 위해서 인터넷 관리 표준을 정의된 MIB-II의 관리 정보를 기반으로 분석 파라미터를 정의하고 이를 계산하기 위한 알고리즘을 제시하고자 한다. MIB-II에서 system, interface, ip, snmp 그룹의 관리 변수를 Case 다이어그램에 따라 분석하여 선로 이용률, 에러 수신율, 인터페이스 패킷 송수신율, 인터페이스 패킷 송수신 손실률, 입출력 트래픽률, 방송형 송수신 트래픽 비율, 시스템 패킷 입출력률, 시스템 패킷 송수신 손실률, 시스템 자원 부하율, 패킷 전달률, 경로 설정 실패율, 관리 트래픽 이용률 등의 분석 파라미터와 계산 알고리즘을 제안한다. 분석 파라미터 계산 알고리즘에 대한 적용성을 실험하기 위해서 실존하는 라우터를 대상으로 분석 결과를 제시하고 진단하였다. 이러한 인터넷 분석 파라미터 계산 알고리즘은 망 관리자가 전체 TCP/IP 통신 네트워크를 진단하고 분석할 수 있는 자료로 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 인터넷 사용자에게 QoS를 제공하루 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • SNMP is a simple, application layer protocol and that is sending and receiving the management information among network devices. It exchanges the management information by the PDUs that have the management information names and values. Until now, network management is so inconvenience because of console-based management by using SNMP. This paper shows the Web-based SNMP network management system that is using the designed private MIB and GUI. In this paper, we have proposed a virtual SNMP agent supporting scalability of network management. With the virtual agent, large-scale network can be managed simply by trap filtering and hierarchical management.
