Porcine small intestine submucosa (SIS) has been widely used as a biomaterial without immunorejection responses. Crosslinked SIS sponges were characterized for the possibility of the bio-interactive wound dressings and tissue engineered scaffolds. SIS powders were dissolved in 3% acetic acid aqueous solution at 48hrs followed by pouring into mold and then fabricated by freeze-drying method. SIS sponge was prepared by crosslinked with 1-ethyl-(3-3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) solution (deionized water: ethanol=5:95) with 1-100mM concentration for 24 hrs and Iyophilized. SIS sponges were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimeter, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer and were tested their porosity and water absorption ability. It was observed that the concentration of EDC might be exceeded 50 mM to get good physical characteristics. In conclusion, it seems that SIS sponge could be very useful for the applications of wound healing and tissue construction.
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) have wide application area. They are of vital importance at process plants to detect the onset of hazardous events, for instance, a release of some hazardous material, and for mitigating their consequences to humans, material assets, and the environment. The integrated safety systems, where electrical, electronic, and/or programmable electronic (E/E/PE) devices interact with mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems are governed by international safety standards like IEC 61508. IEC 61508 organises its requirements according to a Safety Life Cycle (SLC). Fulfilling these requirements following the SLC can be complex without the aid of SIS supporting tools. This paper presents simple SIS support tool which can greatly help the user to implement the design phase of the safety lifecycle. This tool is modelled in the form of Android application which can be integrated with a Web-based data reading and modifying system. This tool can reduce the computation time spent on the design phase of the SLC and reduce the possible errors which can arise in the process. In addition, this paper presents an optimization approach to SISs based on cost measures. The multi-objective genetic algorithm has been used for the optimization to search for the best combinations of solutions without enumeration of all the solution space.

Background: Attaining an adequate effective orifice area (EOA) is definitive goal in aortic valve replacement (AVR). The simple interrupted suture (SIS) technique could be a solution to achieve this goal, but limited data are available in the literature. This study aimed to compare hemodynamic differences between the SIS and non-everting mattress suture (NMS) techniques. Methods: From our database, 215 patients who underwent AVR for severe aortic stenosis were extracted to form the overall cohort. From March 2015 to November 2016, the SIS technique was used in 79 patients, while the NMS technique was used in 136 patients. Hemodynamic outcomes were evaluated, as detected by transthoracic echocardiography and computed tomography. Results: There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the 2 groups. On immediate postoperative echocardiography, the SIS group showed a significantly wider EOA (1.6±0.4 vs. 1.4±0.5 ㎠, p=0.007) and a lower mean pressure gradient (PG) (13.3±5.4 vs. 17.0±6.0 mm Hg, p<0.001) than the NMS group. On follow-up echocardiography, the SIS group continued to have a wider EOA (1.6±0.4 vs. 1.4±0.3 ㎠, p<0.001) and a lower mean PG (11.0±5.1 vs. 14.1±5.5 mm Hg, p<0.001). There was no significant difference in paravalvular leakage. Conclusion: The SIS technique for AVR was associated with a wider EOA and a lower mean PG. The SIS technique could be a reasonable option for AVR.
This study aimed to identify the difference of scapular movements between tennis players with and without shoulder impingement syndrome(SIS) and to verify the effect of kinesiology taping applied to scapular. A total of 15 players were categorized in SIS group(n=7) and control(CON) group(n=8). The scapular movements evaluated using 3-dimensional motion analysis in the 5 events of the flat first serve before and after the application of taping. The male of SIS group(-7.31±1.19° and -5.28±1.08°, respectively) had tilted scapular more anteriorly compared to CON group(-0.98±5.38° and -0.44±3.52°, respectively) at the maximally humeral external rotation and the impact(Z=-2.309, p=.021 and Z=-2.309, p=.021, respectively). The scapular(-8.11±2.57°) of female in SIS group tilted more anteriorly than that of CON(-0.97±3.31°) group at the maximally humeral external rotation(Z=-2.121, p=.034). But the scapular movements had no statistical differences between before and after the application of taping.
We report two rare cases of spinal intraosseous schwannoma (SIS) with sustained myelopathy symptoms and provide an updated review regarding SIS in the literature. A 71-year-old man experienced right lumbocrural pain and gait disturbance accompanied with paresthesia and right leg weakness. Imaging examinations revealed a mass with lesions in L4 vertebral body causing bone destruction and spinal cord compression. Complete resection of the well-demarcated tumor and posterior fusion were performed. A 54-year-old female reported bilateral gait disturbance, paresthesia, and numbness without weakness, and imaging revealed a posterior mass from T9 causing spinal cord compression and bone erosion. The tumor was completely separated from the spinal nerve root. The tumors from both patients were confirmed as schwannomas. Tumor recurrence was not observed at the 2-4 year follow-up. Although rare, SIS should be considered during differential diagnosis and can affect treatment planning. SIS symptoms vary depending on tumor location, and fusion is frequently necessary for spinal reconstruction after complete tumor resection.

In this paper, we consider the cybersecurity issue of ship information system (SIS) from a new perspective which is called opacity. For a SIS, its confidential information (named as "secret") may be leaked through the working behaviors of each Distributed Control Unit (DCU) from an outside observer called an "intruder" which is able to determine ship's mission state by detecting the source of each data flow from the corresponding DCUs in SIS. Therefore we proposed a dual layer mechanism to enforce opacity by activating non-essential DCU during secret mission. This mechanism is calculated by two types of insertion functions: Safety-assured insertion function ($f_{IS}$) and Admissibility-assured insertion function ($f_{IA}$). Due to different objectives, $f_{IS}$ is designed to confuse intruder by constructing a non-secret behaviors from a unsafe one, and the division of $f_{IA}$ is to polish the modified output behaviors back to normal. We define the property of "$I_2$-Enforceability" that dual layer insertion functions has the ability to enforce opacity. By a given mission map of SIS and the marked secret missions, we propose an algorithm to select $f_{IS}$ and compute its matchable $f_{IA}$ and then the DCUs which should be activated to release non-essential data flow in each step is calculable.

The logic synthesis systems for table look up(TLU) type field programmable e gate arrays(FPGAs) have so farstudied mostly the combinational logic problem m. This paper presents for mapping a sequential circuit onto a popular table look up architecture, theXilinx 3090 architecture. In thefirst for solving this problem, combinational and sequential elements which have 6 or7 input combinational and sequential elements which haveless thanor equal to 5 inputs. We heavily use the combinational synthesis techniques tosolve the sequential synthesis problem. Our syntheisis approach is very simple, but its results are reasonable. We compare seveal benchmark Examples with sis-pga(map_together and map_separate) synthesis system and the experimental results show that our synthesis system is 17% betterthan sis-pga sequential synthesis system for TLU PGAs.

Ellagic acid has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain elusive. In this study, our aim was to investigate whether ellagic acid inhibits the proliferation of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells via regulation of the TGF-${\beta}$/Smad3 signaling pathway. MCF-7 breast cancer cells were transfected with pEGFP-C3 or pEGFP-C3/Smad3 plasmids, and treated with ellagic acid alone or in combination with SIS3, a specific inhibitor of Smad3 phosphorylation. Cell proliferation was assessed by MTT assay and the cell cycle was detected by flow cytometry. Moreover, gene expression was detected by RT-PCR, real-time PCR and Western blot analysis. The MTT assay showed that SIS3 attenuated the inhibitory activity of ellagic acid on the proliferation of MCF-7 cells. Flow cytometry revealed that ellagic acid induced G0/G1 cell cycle arrest which was mitigated by SIS3. Moreover, SIS3 reversed the effects of ellagic acid on the expression of downstream targets of the TGF-${\beta}$/Smad3 pathway. In conclusion, ellagic acid leads to decreased phosphorylation of RB proteins mainly through modulation of the TGF-${\beta}$/Smad3 pathway, and thereby inhibits the proliferation of MCF-7 breast cancer cells.
In this study, conditional simulation was conducted to estimate rock mass rating(RMR) in unsurveyed regions. Sequential Gaussian simulation(SGS) and sequential indicator simulation(SIS) were applied for estimating RMR from the bore hole logging data. The uncertainty of SGS and SIS was verified by sample cross validation. A subset composed of 5 bore hole logging data among the original 30 bore hole logging data was set aside as test data. The remainder was training data. The quality of SGS and SIS estimation on the testing data reflects how well it would perform in an unsupervised setting. SGS and SIS were useful stochastic methods to estimate the spatial distribution of rock mass classes correctly and assess the uncertainty of estimation quantitatively. The result of conditional simulation can offer useful information of rock mass classes such as RMR in unsurveyed regions.
