랫드에서 난소적출이 골다공증 발생에 미치는 영향 (Osteoporotic Changes after Ovariectomy in Rats)

  • Osteoporosis is a bone disease associated with reduced bone mineral density resulting in debilitating bone fractures. The present study was carried out to determine the influence of ovariectomy(OVX) on serum level of sex steroid and bone metabolism, as well as bone mechanical property, in OVX subjects in comparison with controls. Body weight and food intake was significantly increased in OVX subjects than in controls. The serum level of estradiol(E2) was significantly lower in OVX subjects than in controls. The serum level of calcium and alkalin phosphatae were significantly increased in OVX subjects than in controls. The bone strength, based on the three point bending test, was not significantly different. Seven weeks after ovariectomy, the cavities in the bone reached 223% of the normal. In conclusion, seven weeks after ovariectomy osteoporo sis was evidently appeared.

  • A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system designed to capture, store, manipulate, retrieve and display the data which are referenced to geographic location. With the progress of computer graphics technologies, GIS is now become applicable to microcomputer level. A prototype Sea Information System (SIS) applicable to microcomputer has been developed for serving informations related to naval operations in the special sea areas. This system includes GIS technologies, cartographic data captured through the tablet digitizer. which results immediate displaying on pen plotters. GIS provides users with menu-driven user interface for the retrieval of informations concerning military zones, patrol area of war ship, naval bases, radar sites and its search area, missile stations, and ships' current positions. The system is currently applicable to IBM PC/AT. Minimal hardware configuration consists 640k RAM, hard disk, and pen plotter or dot matrix printer.

뇌졸중 환자의 장애 회복이 뇌졸중 후 우울증에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Recovery of disability on Post-stroke Depression)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of recovery of disability on post-stroke depression in stroke patients. Methods : Fifty patients with stroke were participated in this study. The stroke impact scale(SIS) was used to assess the recovery of disability according to stroke and short form of geriatric depression scale(SGDS) was used to assess the poststroke depression(PSD). Results : The suspicious for depression were exhibited in 38%(n=19) and patients with depression were 58% (n=26) of 50 patients with stroke. In correlation between recovery of disability and depression, emotion and recovery of stroke negatively correlated with depression(p<.05). Conclusion : These results demonstrates that patients with stroke need to manage and treat emotion for the prevention and management of PSD.

  • To keep enterprise's competitiveness on condition of the automatic manufacturing system such as FA, FMS and CIM, all the maintenance problems should be considered seriously in not only production and maintenance but also related industrial safety. As we analyze in the surveys for the maintenance management of domestic enterprises and the causes of Industrial accident, there will be necessity of drawing up countermeasures for prevention of industrial accidents and for ensuring expertise maintenance technologies. Based on these analyses, this study studied the safety information system, maintenance management information system, and the machinery condition diagnosis technique by using of the knowledge-based system under the internet environment. This web based knowledge-based diagnosis system can easily provide not only the knowledge of expert about deterioration phenomenon of industrial robot, but also the knowledge of relating safety and facility on everywhere, everytime. Therefore, when we use this system, it is expected to improve the efficiency of business processes in the production and safety.

Interfacial Wave Characteristics for Countercurrent Stratified Air-Water Flow in a Horizontal Pipe

  • To experimentally investigate the several wave patterns for the horizontal countercurrent stratified air-water flow, a series of systematic experimental studies have been performed. The experiments are carried out in a horizontal pipe with 4m in length and 102mm in inner diameter. The oater and air superficial velocities vary from 0.0004 to 0.0204 and from 0 to 6m/s, respectively. The instantaneous water thickness is measured by parallel-wire conductance probes, and the wave field is recorded by high speed video camera. Also, to evaluate the wave effect on interfacial friction factor, the pressure drop is measured. Statistical data anal)sis is accomplished in order to obtain the fundamental wave parameters such as un amplitude, length and velocity, and spatial growth factor. By using these statistical parameters, the wave regime boundaries can be verified.

  • This paper is the research and development including the system design and the prototype system building of the wide-band digital autocorrelation spectrometer system for radio astronomy observation, which will be used as back-end signal processing unit of the Dual channel SIS receiver at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. So in this paper. we performed development of the high speed digitizing sampler, the circular memory buffer, and the correlator module for the 400MHz wide-band digital autocorrelator.

The Optimization Analysis for the Selection of Cutting Parameters in Turning Operation

  • This paper has focused on the Optimization of the cutting parameters for urning operation based on the Taguchi method. Four cutting parameters. nemely, cutting speed, feed depth of cut and nose radius are optimized with consideration of the surface roughness. The design and analysis of experiments are conducted to study the performance characteristic. The effects of these parameters on the surface roughness have been investigated using signal-to-noise(S/N) ratio and analy-sis of variance(ANOVA). The experiments have been performed using coated tungsten carbide inserts without any cutting fluid. Experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of this approach.

  • Geometric and thermal errors are responsible for major components of the errors of a computer numerically controlled turning center. The planar error of a CNC turning center are comprised of 11 geometric and thermal error components. The error synthesis model is formulated by homogeneous coordinate transformation method and expresses the effect of such error components on the planar error of a CNC turning center. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis of the model on the noises through sensing and the change of temperature is addressed. The sensitivity analysis show that the error systhesis model is robust on the noses and z planar error is much affected by the change of temperatures.

  • The reliability performance measures for low and high or continuous demand modes of operation of safety instrumented systems(SISs) are examined and compared by analyzing the official definitions in IEC 61508 standard. This paper also presents a status of common cause factor(CCF) models used in IEC 61508 and problems relating CCF modelling are discussed and ideas to solve these ones are suggested. An example with mixed M-out-of-N architecture is carried out to illustrate the proposed methods.

  • Korean life insurance medical association's public periodical, the Journal of Korean Life Insurance Medical association (J Kor Lif Ins Med Assoc, JKLIMA) is now published $27^{th}$ issue. From this issue there are some changes of the journal than before. It is because general requirements for medical journals from the Korean association of medical journals editors. It can be remedy for the development of JKLIMA, in terms of academicism. First, the style of the manuscripts, medical opinion of insurance administration is added. This style of manuscript needs not keep the format of original research article such as background, materials, results, and discussion. Secondly, It is emphasized that submitted manuscripts must be reviewed by peer reviewers. Thirdly, we will make an effort to globalization of our journal. Lastly the publication period has been changed from annual to biannual. The publication date will be at March 31st and September 30th every year.
