造景植物의 道路交通騷音 減衰機能에 關한 基礎硏究(I) (A Basic Study on Landscape Plants as Attenuator of Vehicular Noise(I))

  • Landscape plants as attenuator of vehicular noise were basically experimented with 8 kinds of trees and shrubs at the university nursery, and checked the attenuating effects by the planted distances, species and sound frequencies. The experimental results are shown and sumarized as follows ; 1. Most plants showed the considerable noise attenuating function in the sound frequencies of 63Hz and 1,000Hz. Tall trees such as Juniperus chinensis var. kaizuka and Magnolia grandiflora showed better effects than shrubs or small trees such as Gardenia jasminoides, Osmanthus fragnance, Osmanthrs heterophyllus, Rhododendron indicum, Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Tetragona Aurea' and Pinus paruiflora in 63Hz frequency, but shrubs showed better effects in 1,000Hz. 2. Trees showed 6~8dB attenuation and shrubs 4~5dB regardless an increase of distance between sound source and receiver in 63Hz. 10 meter width of tree belt could reduce 10 more dB, but 5 meter of shrub belt showed the same effect in 1,000Hz. 3. Trees having more leaves and wider crown showed constantly increase of attenuation of sound by the distance in 1,000Hz, and distinct increase of attenuation were observed in 2,000 more Hz.

월악산국립공원 탐방로의 주연부식생 (Edge Vegetation Structure of Trails in Woraksan National Park)

  • 월악산국립 공원지역의 탐방로 주연부식생 구조를 파악하기 위하여 주요 탐방로 5개 구간에 조사구 39개를 설치하여 식생 구조를 조사하였다. 탐방로별 교목층의 우점종은 신갈나무와 소나무, 굴참나무가 조사되었으며, 관목층의 주요 수종으로는 입지환경 요인이나 이용강도에 상관없이 동창구간을 제외한 모든 구간에서 조록싸리로 나타났다. 5개 탐방로 구간 간 유사도지수는 $41.65\%\~66.50\%$로 나타났다. 입지환경별 탐방로 주연부 수종의 차이는 크게 나타나지 않는 것으로 판단된다.

백두대간 정령치-고기리 구간의 해발고에 따른 식생구조 (Vegetation Structure in Relation to Altitude from Jeongryeongchi to Gogiri Section in Baekdudaegan)

  • 백두대간 정령치~고기리 구간에 대해 해발고별 식생변화를 살펴보기 위하여 해발고 l00m마다 10m X 10m(l00$m^2$)의 조사구 5개씩 총 45개 조사구를 9개 지점에 설치하여 조사하였다. 군락의 분리를 위해 TWINSPAN과 DCA기법을 이용하였으며, 그 결과 정령치-고기리 구간은 교목층에서 신갈나무가 우점종인것.으로 밝혀졌으나 해발 900m를 기점으로 아교목층 및 관목층의 부수종을 중심으로 식생구조에 차이가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 유사도지수에서도 유사한 결과를 나타내었으나 종다양도 분석에서는 해발고간 차이가 없었다.

녹지 조건에 따른 최고기온의 비교연구 (Comparative Study of Maximum Temperature Condition in Green Space)

  • 본 연구는 토지피복현황과 수림형태 등이 다양한 도시녹지를 대상으로 기온저감효과와의 관련성을 파악한 결과 아래와 같은 효과가 실증되었다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 녹지 내의 토지피복현황과 기온분포, 토지피복비율 및 녹적량과 기온 저감효과와의 관련성을 회귀분석 등에 의해 해석하였다. 그 결과, 포장면과 나지 주변에서는 고온역이, 수림지와 수면 주변에서는 저온역이 형성되었다. 특히, 교목+소교목층으로 피복되어 있는 구역과 수림으로 둘러싸인 수면, 소하천 주변에는 상대적으로 낮은 기온이었다. 또한, 저온을 형성하는 메커니즘은 토지피복비율(수림지, 초지, 수면)등이고, 그 토지피복의 종류와 비율에 따라 기온저감효과가 서로 달랐다. 더욱이 녹정량과 기온과의 관계는 부의 상관을 나타냈고, 그 효과는 교목, 소교목, 관목의 순이다.

Taxonomic reconsideration of Chinese Lespedeza maximowiczii (Fabaceae) based on morphological and genetic features, and recommendation as the independent species L. pseudomaximowiczii

  • Lespedeza maximowiczii C. K. Schneid. (Fabaceae) is a deciduous shrub which is known to be distributed in the temperate forests of China, Korea and on Tsushima Island of Japan. Due to severe morphological variations within species, numerous examinations have been conducted for Korean L. maximowiczii. However, the morphology of Chinese plants has not been studied as thoroughly, despite doubts about their taxonomy. To clarify this taxonomic issue, we investigated morphological characters and undertook a Bayesian clustering analysis with microsatellite markers. The morphological and genetic traits of Chinese individuals varied considerably from those of typical L. maximowiczii growing in Korea. For example, petals of the former had a different shape and bore long claws, while the calyx lobes were diverged above the middle and the upper surface of the leaflet was pubescent. Their terete buds and spirally arranged bud scales were distinct from those within the series/section Heterolespedeza, which includes L. maximowiczii. Our Bayesian clustering analysis additionally included L. buergeri as an outgroup. Those results indicated that the Chinese samples clustered into a lineage separated from L. maximowiczii (optimum cluster, K = 2), despite the fact that the latter is grouped into the same lineage with L. buergeri. Therefore, we treat those Chinese plants as a new species with the name L. pseudomaximowiczii.

The Effects of Silvopastoral Practice on Changes of Understory Vegetation in a Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi) Plantation

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of thinning on changes in stand characteristics and understory vegetation in a silvopasture practiced Japanese larch plantation in the Research Forest of Kangwon National University, Korea. Three different thinning intensities (64%, 35%, and control) were applied. Before and after thinning, the understory plant species increased its number from 48 (7 tree species, 7 shrubs species, 28 herbaceous species, and 6 woody climbers) to 100 (11 tree species, 15 shrub species, 67 herbaceous species, and 7 woody climbers). Thinning made plants invade easily on the forest floor, and plot A (325 stems/ha) had much higher number of undersory species than those Of plot B (575 stems/ha) and control plot (1,150 stems/ha). In three years after thinning, understory aboveground biomass (kg/ha) of herbs were 523 for control, 1,230 for plot B, and 1,288 for plot A. The canopy coverage had remarkable influence on the understory biomass production, resulting in relatively small amount of herbage production on control plot. The differences were statistically significant between thinned plots and unthinned plot, but there were no significant differences among the thinned plots (p<0.05).

도시식생의 주택에너지절약 및 탄소배출저감 기능 -춘천시를 대상으로- (Function of Home Energy Savings and Carbon Emission Reduction by Urban Vegetation- Case of Chuncheon-)

  • Rising concern about climate change has evoked interest in the potential for urban vegetation to help reduce the level of atmospheric CO\sub 2\, a major heat-trapping gas. This study quantified the functio of home energy savings and carbon emission reduction by shading, evapotranspiration and windspeed reduction of urban vegetatioin in Chuncheon. Tree and shrub cover averaged approximately 13% in residential land. The effects of shading, evapotranspiration and windspeed reduction annually saved heating energy by 2.2% and cooling energy by 8.8%. The heating and cooling energy savings reduced carbon emissions by 3.0% annually. These avoided emissions equaled the amount of carbon emitted annually from fossil fuel consumption by a population of about 1,230. Carbon emission reduction per residential building was 55kg for detached buildings and 872 kg for multifamily buildings. Urban vegetation annually decreased heating and cooling energy cost by ₩1.1 billions, which were equivalent to annual savings of ₩10,000 savings and carbon emission reduction due to tree plantings in the wrong locations, while windspeed reduction had a great effect. Plantings fo large trees close to the west and east wall of buildings, full tree plantings on the north, and avoidance of shade-tree plantings or selection of solar-friendlytrees on the south were recommended to improve the function of building energy savings and carbon emission reduction by urban vegetation.

홍수터 식생에 의한 하천의 수리특성 연구 (A Study on Hydraulic Characteristics of River with Floodplain Vegetation)

  • 기존의 하천관리는 이 치수에 중점을 두었다면 최근에는 환경의 중요성을 인식하고 하천복원사업을 통해 주변환경을 개선하여 자연과 공존하는 방향으로 바뀌고 있다. 하천에 분포하는 다양한 종류의 식생은 지형변화, 유속 및 수위 변화 등 직 간접적으로 하천에 영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서 효과적인 하천관리를 위해서는 하천흐름에 대한 식생의 영향을 이해하고 분석하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 다차원 수리 수질 통합분석이 가능한 EFDC모형을 이용하여 홍수터 식생에 의한 하천의 수리특성 변화를 모의하였다. 금강수계 공주보~백제보 구간에 대한 수치지도 및 수심측량 정보를 바탕으로 작성된 3차원 정밀지형도와 30~50 m 간격의 직교곡선격자망을 이용하여 지형을 구축하고, 홍수터 식생에 의한 흐름저항을 반영하기 위한 현장조사를 통해 작성된 식생분포지도를 토대로 교목류(Tree), 관목류(Shrub), 초본류(Herb), 수체(Water) 4가지로 구분하여 분포밀도, 흉고직경, 교목의 높이를 모형에 적용하였다. 2일 간의 보 운영조건에 따라 상류의 공주보 방류량과 하류의 백제보 수위를 경계조건으로 분석을 실시하고, 동일기간 61개 관측지점 중에서 상 중 하류 4개의 임의지점에 대하여 유속측정결과와 모의결과의 비교를 통해 모형을 검증하였다. 홍수터가 완전히 잠겨 식생의 영향을 크게 받는 고유량 조건에 대하여 식생의 적용 여부에 따른 수리특성 변화를 살펴본 결과 홍수터의 경우 일부구간에서 유속이 감소하였으나 인근 주수로의 유속은 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 하천수위의 변화는 미미한 것으로 나타났다.

Vegetation Structure of Mountain Ridge in Midongsan, Chungcheongbuk-do

  • The Purpose of this study was to offer the raw data for drawing up the conservation plan by analysing natural vegetation in Midongsan, Chungcheongbuk-do, Korea. The period of survey was from July to October, 2004 and the size of plot was 100$m^2$. In the results of analyzing the physical environments, the range of altitude was 303${\sim}$550m and soil pH was 5.4${\sim}$6.8. The angle of slope was 3${\sim}$57% and topographical factor was composed of ridgeline. In the results of analyzing a importance percentage, the dominant species in tree layer, Pinus rigida, P. densiflora, Quercus mongolica, Q. variabilis and Q. acutissima, P. rigida, Q. mongolica, Q. acutissima, Platycarya strobilacea and Q. variabilis in subtree layer, Rhododendron mucronulatum, Symplocos chinensis for pilosa, Lindera obtusiloba, L. erythrocarpa, Rhus trichocarpa and Weigela subsessilis in shrub layer. In the results of species diversity index, species diversity (H') was from 1.2401 to 2.5540, maximum species diversity (H'max), from 1.9459 to 2.8904, evenness (J'), from 0.5644 to 0.8836, dominance (D), from 0.1164 to 0.4356.

Subacute Toxicity of Nerium oleander Ethanolic Extract in Mice

  • Nerium oleander (N. oleander) is a well-known poisonous shrub that is frequently grown in gardens and public areas and contains numerous toxic compounds. The major toxic components are the cardiac glycosides oleandrin and neriin. The aim of our study was to evaluate the toxic effects of an ethanolic N. oleander leaf extract on haematological, cardiac, inflammatory, and serum biochemical parameters, as well as histopathological changes in the heart. N. oleander extract was orally administered for 14 and 30 consecutive days at doses of 100 and 200 mg of dried extract/kg of body weight in 0.5 mL of saline. The results showed significant increases in mean corpuscular volume, white blood cell counts, platelet counts, interleukins (IL-1 and IL-6), tumour necrosis factor alpha, C reactive protein, alanine aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase and creatine kinase MB, especially at high doses. Marked pathological changes were perceived in the heart tissue. Thus, it can be concluded that exposure to N. oleander leaf extract adversely affects the heart and liver.
