The behavior of horizontally curved I-girder bridges is complex because the flexural and torsional behavior of curved girders are coupled due to their initial curvature. Also, the behavior is affected by cross beams. To investigate the behavior of horizontally curved I-girder bridges, it is necessary to consider curved girders with cross beams. In order to perform free vibration analyses of horizontally curved I-girder bridges, a finite element formulation is presented here and a finite element analysis program is developed. The formulation that is presented here consists of curved and straight beam elements, including the warping degree of freedom. Based on the theory of thin-walled curved beams, the shape functions of the curved beam elements are derived from homogeneous solutions of the static equilibrium equations. Third-order hermits polynomials are used to form the shape functions of the straight beam elements. In the finite element analysis program, global stiffness and mass matrix are composed, based on the Cartesian coordinate system. The Gupta method is used to efficiently solve the eigenvalue problem. Comparing the results of several examples here with those of previous studies, the formulation presented is verified. The validity of the program developed is shown by comparing results with those analyzed by the shell element.
Previous finite element studies have shown that AASHTO Standard load distribution factor (LDF) equations appear to be conservative for longer spans and larger girder spacing, but too permissible for short spans and girder spacing. AASHTO LRFD specification defines the distribution factor equation for girder spacing, span length, slab thickness, and longitudinal stiffness. However, this equation requires an iterative procedure to correctly determine the LDF value due to an initially unknown longitudinal stiffness parameter. This study presents a simplified LDF equation for interior and exterior girders of two-span continuous I-girder bridges that does not require an iterative design procedure. The finite element method was used to investigate the effect of girder spacing, span length, slab thickness, slab width, and spacing and size of bracing. The computer program, GTSTRUDL, was used to idealize the bridge superstructures as the eccentric beam model, the concrete slab by quadrilateral shell elements, steel girders by space frame members, and the composite action between these elements by rigid links. The distribution factors obtained from these analyses were compared with those from the AASHTO Standard and LRFD methods. It was observed through the parametric studies that girder spacing, span length, and slab thickness were the dominant parameters compared with others. The LRFD distribution factor for the interior girder was found to be conservative in most cases, whereas the factor for the exterior girder to be unconservative in longer spans. Furthermore, a regression analysis was performed to develop simplified LDF formulas. The formulas developed in this study produced LDF values that are always conservative to those from the finite element method and are generally smaller than the LDF values obtained from the AASHTO LRFD specification. The proposed simplified equation will assist bridge engineers in predicting the actual LDF in two-span continuous I-girder bridges.
For mass production of entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana 149, isolated from moth larva, by two-phase fermentation, we performed selection of carbon and nitrogen sources for liquid culture and examined solid fermentation on carrier, ingredient, temperature, and water content. Spore production with rice powder, corn powder, and starch from sweet potato was higher than that of sucrose and dissolvable starch for liquid fermentation as first-phase fermentation. As a nitrogen source, addition of peptone and yeast powder showed higher spore production than $NaNO_3$, fish powder, and soybean powder. The isolate produced more conidia in sawdust + wheat bran + corn powder, sawdust + wheat bran and rice shell + wheat bran as carrier and ingredient than vermiculite as carrier. Conidia production of B. bassiana 149 in solid-phase fermentation was twice higher at 30 than 20. Conidia yield was higher at 60% and 70% water content ($26.9{\times}10^8$ and $38.6{\times}10^8conidia/g$) than 40% and 50% ($13.9{times}10^8 $and $11.6{\times}10^8conidia/g$), respectively.
Forty-wk-old 480 ISA Brown layers were used in a 10-wk feeding trial to investigate the effects of additional various levels of limestone to a low calcium diet without any calcium additives on the performance of laying hens. There were significant differences in average egg weight (P<0.05) without any specific trend among treatments and hen-day egg production was not influenced by the dietary treatments. Daily intake and conversion per kg egg of feed excluded the calcium supplement were significantly reduced (p<0.05) as the level of additional calcium supplement increased in both types of layer diet, while those of feed included the calcium source were significantly increased (P<0.05) as the level of additional calcium supplement increased. Egg specific gravity, eggshell breaking strength and thickness were increased as the level of additional calcium supplement increased, however the significant differences were found only in egg specific gravity It would be possible to reduce the daily feed intake and feed conversion and to improve the eggshell quality by feed the low calcium diet devoid of calcium supplement from the conventional laying hen diet and by supply the additional calcium source at 3 to 4 p.m. instead of the continuous feeding of conventional high calcium diet.

This study investigated the effect of dried food-waste diets (FW) fermented by Aspergillus oryzae (AEW), on egg Production and egg qualify in laying hens. One hundred sixty eight laying hens, 50 week old, ISA-Brown wtrain were randomly distributed into 7 treatments with 3 relpicates of 8 birds per replicate and fed with standards laying hen diet replaced with FW and AFW at die=rent level Basal Diet, 25, 10, $75\%$, respectively. There was a significant decrease in feed intake for FW $50\%$ diet and egg Production was statistically lower in all W diet treatments(p<0.05). Water consumption was increased as the replacement increased. Egg weight, egg shell thickness and strength were similar among treatments. However, egg yolk color and Haugh unit showed distinct differences when W were added to their diets(p<0.05). No difference was observed in egg yolk cholesterol. It seems that FW diet could decrease the egg Production, but would be able to improve egg Quality. From this results, AO seemed applicable to laying hen diet as supplements.
Yongchonppong is liable to withering of leaf and it is lowering leaf value for the feed. In this respect, covering of the vinylon gauze over the feed has been carried out in the branch rearing system to sustain leaf value as itself. The covering of the vintlon gauze over Yongchonppong marks 7% and 9% increment of cocoon yield in dry season, spring rearing season, as compared to the non-covering of the vinylon gauze over Kaeryangppong and Yongchonppong, respectively. There was no significant differences in cocoon shell percentages of them. In more humid environment than average relative humidity in Korea the rearing results of "Yongchonppong" was improved by covering with vinylon gauze after feeding compared with the non-covered rearing. However, the vinylon guage covering was not effective for improving the rearing results of "Kaeryangppong". No effect of the vinylon gauze covering was seen in the area where it frequently rains and raining season lasts. In case of the non-covering of the vinylon gauze, Yongchonppong reduces repidly in the first three hours of exposure to the air, as compared to Kaeryangppong. The water content reductions rate of Yongchonppong in 6 hours of exposure to the air marks 7% to so when the dry vinylon gauze cover and 17 to 26% when the wet vinylon gauze covers, as compared to 58.8% of it for the noncovering of the vinylon gauze.f the vinylon gauze.

The bivoltine tropical tasar ecoraces of Antheraea mylitta Drury produces cocoons for seed production under seed crop rearing (July-August with $22{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ temperature and 50~70% relative humidity) and for silk production under commercial crop rearing (September-December with $17{\sim}27^{\circ}C$ temperature and 60~80% relative humidity). To consider the impact of hybrid vigour on egg, larva, cocoon and silk related commercial traits, the $F_1$ hybrids made among Daba, Jata and Raily ecoraces were assessed successively for three years. The hybrid vigour in the $F_1$ hybrid of Daba$\times$Jata ($T_7$) was positive for egg fertility (+23.1%), shell weight (+25.6%), silk yield (+79.0%) and filament length (+68.1%), with filament of high denier (11.98d) and reduced larval span (-7.1%). The Jata$\times$Daba ($T_8$) hybrid has shown negative heterosis in egg fertility (-8.0%) compared to the other F1 hybrids, Daba$\times$Raily ($T_9$) and Raily$\times$Daba ($T_{10}$), when they rise simultaneously during the commercial crop season. The better performance of parental ecoraces ($T_4$ to $T_6$) in their commercial traits during commercial crop over parents of seed crop ($T_1$ to $T_3$) and the superior performance of $F_1$ hybrids ($T_7$ to $T_{10}$) over parents of commercial crop ($T_4$ to $T_6$) during commercial crop season indicates the apparent hybrid vigour in tasar $F_1$ hybrids. As the Daba$\times$Jata ($T_7$) and Jata$\times$Daba ($T_8$) $F_1$ hybrids have shown highest hybrid vigour, their rearing during commercial crop can optimize the silk productivity and commercial sustenance of the tasar silk industry.

While there are plenty of studies on synthesizing semiconducting germanium nanowires (Ge NWs) by vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) process, it is difficult to inject dopants into them with uniform dopants distribution due to vapor-solid (VS) deposition. In particular, as precursors and dopants such as germane ($GeH_4$), phosphine ($PH_3$) or diborane ($B_2H_6$) incorporate through sidewall of nanowire, it is hard to obtain the structural and electrical uniformity of Ge NWs. Moreover, the drastic tapered structure of Ge NWs is observed when it is synthesized at high temperature over $400^{\circ}C$ because of excessive VS deposition. In 2006, Emanuel Tutuc et al. demonstrated Ge NW pn junction using p-type shell as depleted layer. However, it could not be prevented from undesirable VS deposition and it still kept the tapered structures of Ge NWs as a result. Herein, we adopt $C_2H_2$ gas in order to passivate Ge NWs with carbon sheath, which makes the entire Ge NWs uniform at even higher temperature over $450^{\circ}C$. We can also synthesize non-tapered and uniformly doped Ge NWs, restricting incorporation of excess germanium on the surface. The Ge NWs with carbon sheath are grown via VLS process on a $Si/SiO_2$ substrate coated 2 nm Au film. Thin Au film is thermally evaporated on a $Si/SiO_2$ substrate. The NW is grown flowing $GeH_4$, HCl, $C_2H_2$ and PH3 for n-type, $B_2H_6$ for p-type at a total pressure of 15 Torr and temperatures of $480{\sim}500^{\circ}C$. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) reveals clear surface of the Ge NWs synthesized at $500^{\circ}C$. Raman spectroscopy peaked at about ~300 $cm^{-1}$ indicates it is comprised of single crystalline germanium in the core of Ge NWs and it is proved to be covered by thin amorphous carbon by two peaks of 1330 $cm^{-1}$ (D-band) and 1590 $cm^{-1}$ (G-band). Furthermore, the electrical performances of Ge NWs doped with boron and phosphorus are measured by field effect transistor (FET) and they shows typical curves of p-type and n-type FET. It is expected to have general potentials for development of logic devices and solar cells using p-type and n-type Ge NWs with carbon sheath.

This study was to evaluate the efficiency of diffusive monitor using activated carbon fiber(ACF, KF-1500) in measuring airborne organic solvents. The following characteristics were identified and studied as critical to the performance of diffusive monitor; recovery, sampling rate, face velocity, reverse diffusion and storage stability. For the evaluation of the performance of this monitor, MIBK, PCE, toluene were used as organic solvents. In the sampling rate experiments, eight kinds of solvents (n-hexane, MEK, DIBK, MCF, TCE, CB, xylene, cumene) as well as the above solvents were used. The results were as follows: 1. The desorption efficiencies(DE's) of ACF diffusive monitor ranged from 83 % to 101 %. In contrast, those of coconut shell charcoal ranged from 78 % to 102 %. Especially, the DE's of ACF for the polar solvents such as MEK were superior to those of charcoal. 2. Experimental sampling rates on ACF were average 42ml/min(37-46ml/min) for 11 organic solvents at $24{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, $50{\pm}5%RH$. However ideal sampling rates(DA/L) were 33 % higher than experimental sampling rates. 3. The initial response(15~16 min) of the testing monitor was 2 times higher than the actual concentration determined by the reference methods at $24{\pm}2^{\circ}C$, $8{\pm}5%RH$ and $80{\pm}5%RH$. Within 1 hours, the curve reached a linear horizontal line at low humidity condition. But sampling efficiencies decreased with respect to time at high humidity condition. And sampling efficiencies were higher at high humidity condition than low humidity condition for MIBK. 4. At very low velocity (less than 0.02 m/sec), the concentration of ACF diffusive monitor were poorly estimated. But ACF diffusive monitor were not affected at higher velocity(0.2 m/sec-0.6 m/sec). 5. There was no significant reverse diffusion when the ACF monitors were exposed to clean air for 2 hours after being exposed for 2 hours at the level of 1 TLV. 6. There was no significant sample loss during 3 weeks of storage at room temperature and 5 weeks of storage at refrigeration.
The effects of the silver ion-exchanged water treatment agent (Ag-Os) upon E. coli RB 797 and Bacillus sp. have been discussed in this study. Silver ion causes a number of toxic effects with no known biological function. Silver ion-exchanged water treatment agent (Ag-Os) using oyster shell here showed antimicrobial activities. the soluble form of silver ion in water is more toxic to the growth of Bacillus sp. than that of E. Coli RB 797. The minium amount of Ag-Os needed for growth inhibition is 0.2 mg/ml for E. Coli RB 797 and 0.02 mg/ml for Bacillus sp., which is consistant with the data of the survival cell fraction. Binding studies suggested that binding of silver to the cell surface was a rapid, metabolic-independent process and different from active transport. Bacillus sp. showed more binding than E. Coli RB 797. Reducing substances of the cell cultures in the presence of Ag-Os was detected using Methylen blue as an indicator. From these results, we suggest that Ag-Os is effective as an antimicrobial agent on E. Coli RB 797 and Bacillus sp. and silver binds to the cells through rapid, metabolic-independent process and might complex to sulfur group in the cells for its toxicity.
