In this paper, using modified couple stress theory in place of classical continuum theory, and using shell model in place of beam model, vibrational behavior of nanotubes is investigated via the finite element method. Accordingly classical continuum theory is unable to correctly compute stiffness and account for size effects in micro/nanostructures, higher order continuum theories such as modified couple stress theory have taken on great appeal. In the present work the mass-stiffness matrix for cylindrical shell element is developed, and by means of size-dependent finite element formulation is extended to more precisely account for nanotube vibration. In addition to modified couple stress cylindrical shell element, the classical cylindrical shell element can also be defined by setting length scale parameter to zero in the equations. The boundary condition were assumed simply supported at both ends and it is shown that the natural frequency of nano-scale shell using the modified coupled stress theory is larger than that using the classical shell theory and the results of Ansys. The results have indicated using the modified couple stress cylindrical shell element, the rigidity of the nano-shell is greater than that in the classical continuum theory, which results in increase in natural frequencies. Besides, in addition to reducing the number of elements required, the use of this type of element also increases convergence speed and accuracy.
In this study, the effect of various glass fiber (GF) contents in a shell layer and shell thickness changes on the flexural property of coextruded wood plastic composites (WPCs) in combination with three core systems (weak, moderate, and strong) was investigated. GF behaved as an effective reinforcement for the whole coextruded WPCs and GF alignments in the shell layer played an important role in determining the flexural property of the coextruded WPCs. At a given shell thickness, the flexural property of the whole coextruded WPCs was improved with the increase of GF content in shell. For core quality, when the core is weak, increase of GF content in shell led to improved flexural property of the whole composites and increase of shell thickness helped it. On the other hand, when the core is strong, the flexural property of the whole composites showed reduced features at low GF content in shell and increase of shell thickness aggravated it. This approach provides a method for optimizing performance of the coextruded WPCs with various combinations of core-shell structure and properties.

This work present the experimental resutls for the free vibration of unstiffened, stiffened cylindrical shell filled with air, half water and full water. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of unstiffened, stiffened cylindrical shell are obtained experimentally also. The natural frequencies of stiffened cylindrical shell were generally highter than those of unstiffened cylindrical shell and natural requencies were decreased as cylindrical shell was filled with water. The effect of circumferential stiffener in the first mode was shown that natural frequency more increased 25% at air environment, 29% at half water environment and 37% at full water than those of unstiffened cylindrical shell, respectively. Also, the natural frequencies were decreased according to the added mass effect of fluid in the shell of unstiffened and stiffened cylindrical shell. The six mode shape results of all cases are simular and given. The natural frequencies are determined for a wide range of parameters : e.g. unstiffened shell, and filled with air, half and full water. The effects of varying the parameters on the free vibration frequencies and mode shapes are discussed.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the flexible structure of parabolic shell using photostrictive actuators. The analysis is made to know its dynamic behavior and light-induced control forces for coupled parabolic shell. The effects of an actuator location as well as membrane and bending components under the control action have been analyzed considering the approximate spherical model. The parabolic membrane shell accuracy is being mathematically approximated and validated comparing the light induced control forces using approximate equivalent spherical shell model. The parabolic shell with kapton smart material and photostrictive actuators has been used to formulate the governing equation in the transverse direction. The Kirchhoff-Love assumptions are used to obtain the governing equation of shell with actuator. The mechanical membrane forces and bending moments for parabolic thin shell with actuator is used to analyze the dynamic effect. The results show that membrane control action is much more significant than bending control action. Photostrictive actuators oriented along circumferential direction (actuator-2) can give better control effect than actuators placed along longitudinal direction (actuator-1). The slight difference is observed between spherical and parabolic shell for a surface with focal length to the diameter ratio of 1.00 or more than unity. Space applications often have the shape of parabolical shells or shell of revolution, due to their required focusing, aiming, or reflecting performance. The present approach is focused that photostrictive actuators can effectively control the vibration of parabolical membrane shell. Also, the actuator's location plays an important role in defining the control force.
Theoretical study of vibration distinctiveness of rotating cylindrical are examined for three volume fraction laws viz.: polynomial, exponential and trigonometric. These laws control functionally graded material composition in the shell radius direction. Functionally graded materials are controlled from two or more materials. In practice functionally graded material comprised of two constituent materials is used to form a cylindrical shell. For the current shell problem stainless steel and nickel are used for the shell structure. A functionally graded cylindrical shell is sanctioned into two types by interchanging order of constituent materials from inner and outer side for Type I and Type II cylindrical shell arrangement. Fabric composition of a functionally graded material in a shell thickness direction is controlled by volume fraction law. Variation of power law exponent brings change in frequency values. Influence of this physical change is investigated to evade future complications. This procedure is capable to cater any boundary condition by changing the axial wave number. But for simplicity, numerical results have been evaluated for clamped- simply supported rotating cylindrical shells. It has been observed from these results that shell frequency is bifurcated into two parts: one is related to the backward wave and other with forward wave. It is concluded that the value of backward frequency is some bit higher than that forward frequency. Influence of volume fraction laws have been examined on shell frequencies. Backward and forward frequency curves for a volume fraction law are upper than those related to two other volume fraction laws. The results generated furnish the evidence regarding applicability of present shell model and also verified by earlier published literature.
Core-shell particles of inorganic/organic pair were synthesized from $CaCO_3$ absorbed sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) surfactant. Shell components were synthesized by sequential emulsion polymerization. Various monomers were used as shell components such as methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl acrylate(EA), butyl acrylate(BA), and styrene(St). Ammonium persulfate(APS) was used as an initiator and 2-ethylhexyl acylate(2-EHA) was used as a functional monomer, In the $CaCO_3$/organic core-shell particle polymerization, $CaCO_3$ absorbed surfactant SDBS of 0.5 wt% was prepared first and then core $CaCO_3$ was encapsulated by emulsion polymerization. 0.1 wt% of APS was added sequentially to minimize the formation of new monomer particle during shell polymerization. The structure of inorganic/organic core-shell particles were characterized by measuring the decomposition degree of $CaCO_3$ using HCl solution, thermogravimetric analyzer, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope.

In this paper, the behaviour of shell foundation was studied. In order to perform this study, three studies such as theoretical, numerical and experimental programs were performed. In the theoretical program, the general shallow foundation theories and failure mechanism developed by Terzaghi, Mayerhof and others were reviewed and compared. Based on the previous shallow foundation behaviour, the shell foundation theory was developed using the upper boundary theorem. In the numerical study, the 2 and 3 dimensional FEM simulations were carried out using an uncoupled-analysis approach. From the analysis results, the adequate depth of shell foundation was evaluated. It was also evaluated the bearing capacity according to the shell angle ($120^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$). In the experimental study, the laboratory model tests were carried out for five cases of different foundation shapes including the rectangular and circular foundation in order to verify the theoretical and nemerical study. According to the results of this study, the bearing capacity of shell foundation was theoretically about 15% larger than that of general foundation. However, in the model test, the bearing capacity of shell foundation was about 25 to 30% larger than that of general foundation. In the case of shell angle, the maximum bearing capacity of shell foundation shows when the shell angle of foundation was $60^{\circ}$. In addition, Even if the shell foundation has the various advantages compared with the general foundations as described above, the practical verifications in full scale size will be necessary to use in the field and will be helpful in the technical development of other special foundations.
The organic/organic core-shell composite polymer for nonwomen binder were synthesized by stage polymerization of methyl methacrylate and styrene with ammonium persulfate after preparing monomer pre-emulsion in the presence of anionic surfactant. We study the effect of initiator concentration, $0.79{\times}10^{-3}{\sim}3.16{\times}10^{-3}mol/L$ for core polymer, $2.0{\times}10^{-4}{\sim}8.0{\times}10^{-4}mol/L$ for shell polymer, sulfactant concentration, $1.45{\times}10^{-5}{\sim}4.15{\times}10^{-5}mol/L$ for core polymer, $0.73{\times}10^{-5}{\sim}2.91{\times}10^{-5}mol/L$ for shell polymer on core-shell structure of polymethyl methacrylate/polystyrene and polystyrene/polymethyl methacrylate. Emulsion stability was major test method, particle size and particle size distribution were measured using particle size analyzer and the morphology of the core-shell composite polymer was determined using transmission electron microscope, glass temperature was also measured using differential scanning calorimeter.
Means and standard errors of 285 Taiwan's local chicken and 429 Single Comb White Leghorn pullets at 35 wk of age were: egg weight (g) $48.3{\pm}0.3$, $54.6{\pm}0.3$, shell index $73.39{\pm}0.26$, $73.20{\pm}0.18$, shell color $15.23{\pm}0.40$, $0.88{\pm}0.27$, shell whiteness $72.61{\pm}0.57$, $90.00{\pm}0.35$, shell strength ($kg/cm^2$) $3.77{\pm}0.07$, $3.35{\pm}0.05$, shell thickness (mm) $0.38{\pm}0.003$, $0.38{\pm}0.002$, Haugh units $85.26{\pm}0.50$, $91.81{\pm}0.38$ and yolk percent (%) $30.17{\pm}0.18$, $27.32{\pm}0.16$ respectively. Theestimated heritabiliities of Taiwan's local chicken based on sire and dam components of variance were as follows: egg weight 0.20, shell index 0.1, shell color 0.87, shell whiteness 0.79, shell strength 0.37, shell thickness 0.14, Haugh units 0.24 and yolk percent 0.16. Genetic correlations based on sire and dam components of variance and covariance were also estimated. Generically, the shell index was positively correlated with egg weight, shell strength and yolk percent, and egg weight was negatively correlated with shell thickness, Haugh unit and yolk percent.
Adhesive binders with core-shell structure of organic/organic pair were prepared by emulsion polymerization of acrylic monomers, such as methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl acrylate(EA), n-butyl acrylate(BA), and styrene(St). Ammonium persulfate (APS) was used as an water soluble initiator in the presence of an anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). Non-woven fabric and leather were impregnated with the adhesive binder. The surface of the impregnated fabric and leather were treated with plasma technique and then kinetics analysis and mechanical properties were measured. The conversions of the polymerization of core-shell binder (MMA/EA, MMA/BA) were greater than 90%. When the core-shell binder was prepared at equimolar conditions, the increasing effect of the core-shell binder on the state peel strength of the impregnated and plasma-treated non-woven/non-woven fabric has the order of MMA/St, EA/BA, BA/MMA, EA/St, and EA/MMA. When the core-shell binder was prepared at non-equimolar conditions, the increasing effect of the core-shell binder on the state peel strength of the non-woven fabric/leather has the order of MMA/BA, BA/EA, MMA/EA, St/MMA, and EA/St.
