  • The purpose of this study was to compare and to evaluate the combination use of 5 kinds of dentin adhesive systems and 5 kinds of composite resins using micro-shear bond test. Five adhesive systems (Prime & Bond NT (PBN). Onecoat bond (OC), Excite (EX), Syntac (SY), Clearfil SE bond (CS)) and five composite resins (Spectrum (SP), Synergy Compact (SC), Tetric Ceram (TC), Clearfil AP-X (CA), Z100 (Z1)) were used for this study ($5{\;}{\times}{\;}5{\;}={\;}25group$, n =14/group). The slices of horizontally sectioned human tooth were bonded with each bonding system and each composite resin, and tested by a micro-shear bond strength test. These results were analyzed statistically. The mean micro-shear bond strength of dentin adhesive systems were in order of CS (22.642 MPa), SY (18.368 MPa), EX (14.599 MPa). OC (13.702 MPa). PBN (12.762 MPa). The mean bond strength of self-etching primer system group (CS, SY) in dentin was higher than that of self-priming adhesive system groups (PBN, EX, OC) significantly (P<0.05). The mean bond strength of composite resins was in order of SP (19.008 MPa), CA (17.532 MPa). SC (15.787 MPa), TC (15.068 MPa). Z1 (14.678 MPa). Micro-shear bond strength of SP was stronger than those of other composite resins significantly (P < 0.05). And those of TC and Z1 were weaker than other composite resins significantly (P < 0.05). No difference was found in micro-shear bond strength of composite resin in self-etching primer adhesive system groups (CS, SY) statistically. However, there was significant difference of micro-shear bond strength of composite resin groups in self-priming adhesive systems group (PBN, EX, OC). The combination of composite resin and dentin adhesive system recommended by manufacturer did not represent positive correlation. It didn't seem to be a significant factor.

  • The application of fibers in concrete obviously enhances the properties of concrete, also the application of natural fibers in concrete is raising due to the availability, low cost and environmentally friendly. Besides, predicting the mechanical properties of concrete in general and shear strength in particular is highly significant in concrete mixture with fiber nanocomposite reinforced concrete (FRC) in construction projects. Despite numerous studies in shear strength, determining this strength still needs more investigations. In this research, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) have been employed to determine the strength of reinforced concrete with fiber. 180 empirical data were gathered from reliable literature to develop the methods. Models were developed, validated and their statistical results were compared through the root mean squared error (RMSE), determination coefficient (R2), mean absolute error (MAE) and Pearson correlation coefficient (r). Comparing the RMSE of PSO (0.8859) and ANFIS (0.6047) have emphasized the significant role of structural parameters on the shear strength of concrete, also effective depth, web width, and a clear depth rate are essential parameters in modeling the shear capacity of FRC. Considering the accuracy of our models in determining the shear strength of FRC, the outcomes have shown that the R2 values of PSO (0.7487) was better than ANFIS (2.4048). Thus, in this research, PSO has demonstrated better performance than ANFIS in predicting the shear strength of FRC in case of accuracy and the least error ratio. Thus, PSO could be applied as a proper tool to maximum accuracy predict the shear strength of FRC.

  • Corrugated steel webs resist only shear force because of the accordion effects. The shear force in the web can cause three different buckling mode: local, global, and interactive shear buckling modes. The shear behavior of the corrugated steel webs have been investigated by several researchers. However, shear buckling behavior of the corrugated webs are not clearly explained yet. And, it lead the conservative design. This paper presents shear strength of trapezoidally corrugated steel webs. A series of the tests were also conducted to verified proposed shear strength. Firstly, local, global, and interactive shear buckling equations provided by previous researchers were rearranged as a simple form considering the profiles of the existing bridges with corrugated steel webs. And, global and interactive shear buckling coefficient, and shear buckling parameter for corrugated webs were suggested in this study. Inelastic buckling strength can be determined from buckling curves based on the proposed shear buckling parameter. From the test results of this study and those of previous researchers, it can be found that suggested shear strength provides good estimation of those of trapezoidally corrugated steel webs.

  • In the buildings with long spans and high floors, such as logistics warehouses and semiconductor factories, it is difficult to install supporting posts under beams during construction. Therefore, the size of structural members becomes larger inevitably, resulting in a significant increase in construction costs. Accordingly, a prestressed hybrid wide flange (PHWF) beam with hollowed steel webs was developed, which can reduce construction costs by making multiple openings in the web of the steel member embedded in concrete. However, since multiple openings exist and prestress is introduced only into the bottom flange concrete, it is necessary to identify the shear resistance mechanism of the PHWF beam. This study presents experimental shear tests of PHWF beams with hollowed steel webs. Four PHWF beams with cast-in-place (CIP) concrete were fabricated, with key variables being the width and spacing of the steel webs embedded in the concrete and the presence of shear reinforcing bars, and web-shear tests were conducted. The shear behavior of the PHWF beam, including crack patterns, strain behavior of steel webs, and composite action between the prestressed bottom flange and CIP concrete, were measured and analyzed comprehensively. The test results showed that the steel web resists external shear forces through shear deformation when its width is sufficiently large, but as its width decreased, it exerted its shear contribution through normal deformation in a manner similar to that of shear reinforcing bars. In addition, it was found that stirrups placed on the cross section where the steel web does not exist contribute to improving the shear strength and deformation capacity of the member. Based on the shear behavior of the specimens, a straightforward calculation method was proposed to estimate the web-shear strength of PHWF beams with CIP concrete, and it provided a good estimation of the shear strength of PHWF beams, more accurate than the existing code equations.

  • This paper presents the shear behavior in reinforced normal and high-strength concrete beams with Belite cement due to the increase of concrete compressive strength. The shear tests were conducted on thirty two beam specimens having concrete compressive strengths of 350 and 600kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The major experimental variables are compressive strength of concrete, shear span to depth ratio, and shear reinforcement ratio. The shear responses as to each variable are discussed in terms of shear capacity. The comparison of prediction equations with test results is also presented.

  • Steel plate or fiber composite plate are mainly used in externally bonding method. Shear strengthening by externally bonding method is to confirm shear safety and to avoid brittle failure. In case of strengthening by externally bonding method, a failure of structure occurs frequently due to delamination between strengthening plate and concrete. Therefore, it is important to consider the delamination in the strengthening design. The objective of this study is to propose a modified shear strength evaluation by considering the delamination. The delamination criteria of strengthening plate is established by the ultimate strain and shear stress. And shear strength of RC beams is proposed in terms of the delamination criteria. The proposed shear strength is compared with test results and verified through the comparison.

  • A practical approach of calculating the ultimate strength of composite beams with unreinforced web opning is proposed through shear behavioral tests. In this method, the slab shear contribution at the opening is calculated as the smaller value of the pullout capacity of shear connector at the high moment end and the one way shear capacity of slab. A simple interaction equation is used to predict the ultimate strength under simultaneous bending moment and shear force. Strength prediction by the proposed method is compared with previous test results and the predictions by other analytical methods. The comparison shows that the proposed method predicts the ultimate capacity with resonable accuracy.

  • UHPC(Ultra High Performance Concrete) is used widely with its remarkable performance, such as strength, ductility and durability. Since the fibers in the UHPC can control the tensile crack, the punching shear capacity of UHPC is higher than that of the conventional concrete. In this paper, seven slabs with different thickness and fiber volume ratio were tested. The ultimate punching shear strength was increased with the fiber volume ratio up to 1%. The shear capacity of specimens with the fiber content 1% and 1.5% do not have big differences. The thicker slab has higher punching shear strength and lower deformation capacity. The critical sections of punching shear failure were similar regardless of the fiber volume ratio, but it were larger in thicker slab.
