  • 다당류의 ICR 마우스에서 백혈구수와 복강세포수가 현저히 증가하였고, 면역 관련 장기의 무게도 용량에 따라 증가하는 용량 의존성 반응을 보였고, maerophage의 식작용에 미치는 영향은 phagocytic index와 corrected phagocytic index에서 거의 차이가 없었다. 다당류가 마우스의 혈액 중에 효소 활성 및 일반 생화학적 성분에 미치는 영향을 조사해 본 결과 S-GOT, S-GPT, alkaline phosphatase, total protein, albumin, globulin, Cholesterol, triglyceride, blood urea nitrogen 및 glucose는 대조군에 비하여 비슷한 수준을 나타내었다.

HEPATO-AND RENAL TOXICITY OF AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF A MUSHROOM, AMANITA VOLVATA IN MICE

  • Toxic effects of a mushroom, Amanita volvata, were studied in respect to biochemical and histological changes induced in the liver and kidneys of mice. The changes in biochemical parameters characteristically appeared 12 hrs after oral administration of an aqueous extract of the mushroom. The hepatic glycogen decreased markedly to 17% of the control level and a concemitant decrease in blood glucose was also observed. The activity of serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) was elevated by 2.5-fold and the level of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) increased by 3-fold, respectively, 12 hrs after administration of the mushroom, their levels being maintained up to 24 hrs.

Protective Effect of Brazilin on Cisplatin Nephrotoxicity

  • Cisplatin is one of the most effective antitumor agents currently available for cancer therapy. However, its clinical use has been limited by its severe side effects, especially nephrotoxicity. Therefore, brazilin, which has a radical scavenging effect, was given intraperitoneally to evaluate the effect on cisplatin nephrotoxicity in rats. Remarkable protective effects against nephrotoxicity of cisplatin were observed when brazilin was administered to rats simultaneously with cisplatin. Hepatotoxicity induced by combination treatment of cisplatin and brazilin was evaluated by measuring serum glutamic pyruvate transaminase and serum glutamic oxalate transaminase. Combination treatment did not affect the levels of sGPT and SGOT, and any combination treatment did not induce metallothionein in kidney. Brazilin which has radical scavenging effect directly reduced nephrotoxicity of wisplatin in vivo. Thus, it seems that nephrotoxicity of cisplatin was caused by free radicals. The present results Indicate that brazilin, when it is given with cisplatin, may provide protection against cisplatin nephrotoxicity in rats.

  • The effect of oral treatment with Ficus racemosa leaf extract (400 mg/kg for seven days) were studied on hepatic damage induced by paracetamol (750 mg/kg, i.p.) in rats. Biochemical parameter like SGOT, SGPT, serum bilirubin and alkaline phosphatase were estimated to assess liver function. These biochemical observations were supplemented by histopathological examination of liver sections. The activity of extract was also comparable to Neutrosec a known hepatoprotective formulation.

Effect of Feeding Ammoniated Wheat Straw Treated with Hydrochloric Acid on Blood Biochemical Profile in Growing Male Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Calves

  • An experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding ammoniated wheat straw treated with HCl on blood biochemical profiles in growing male buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) calves. Twenty-four growing male buffalo calves (one year of age, 88.54${\pm}$3.81 kg average body weight) were divided into three groups in a completely randomized design on the basis of their body weight. Animals in all the three groups were fed on concentrate mixture. In addition, they were offered wheat straw, ammoniated wheat straw (4% urea at 50% moisture level) and HCI treated ammoniated wheat straw (4% urea at 50% moisture level and HCl added to trap 30% of the NH3 evolved) in groups I, II and III, respectively for a period of 180 days, as per Kearl (1982) for body weight gain of 500 g/d. In all diets, concentrate:roughage ratio was fixed at 50:50 and were made isonitrogenous by adjusting CP levels of conc. mixtures. Blood was collected from jugular vein of each buffalo calf at the beginning and subsequently at two months interval of experimental feeding. Due to urea-ammoniation, the CP content of wheat straw increased from 2.90 to 6.96% and addition of HCl along with urea further increased the CP content to 10.09%. In all the three groups, the mean values of plasma glucose (mg %) and serum globulin (g %), showed a decreasing trend, while the mean value of serum TP (g %), serum A:G ratio, serum urea (mg %), serum creatinine (mg %), serum ALP (KA units), SGOT (units/ml.), SGPT (units/ml), serum T$_3$ and T$_4$ (ng/ml) showed an increasing trend with the advancement of feeding period. The cumulative period mean values of serum TP (6.15 to 6.20 g %), serum albumin (3.07 to 3.18, g %), serum globulin (2.98 to 3.09, g %), serum A:G ratio (1.03 to 1.10), serum ALP (23.15 to 23.63, KA units), serum T$_3$ (1.20 to 1.23 ng/ml) and serum T$_4$ (21.33 to 21.88 ng/ml) were comparable among the groups. The cumulative period mean plasma glucose (mg %) in group III (57.28) was similar to groups I (55.31) and II (59.41), however, the cumulative period mean plasma glucose in group II was significantly (p<0.01) higher than group I. The cumulative period mean serum urea (mg %) in group III (47.34) was significantly (p<0.001) higher than group I (38.38) and II (42.24), which were statistically alike. However, the cumulative period mean serum creatinine values (mg %) in groups II (1.43) and III (1.52) were similar and were significantly (p<0.01) higher than group I (1.24). The cumulative period mean SGOT (units/ml) in groups I, II and III was 91.71, 96.04 and 96.64, respectively. Similarly the cumulative period mean SGPT (units/ml) was 19.00, 19.93 and 20.01 in groups I, II and III, respectively. The cumulative period mean values of SGOT (p<0.05) and SGPT (p<0.001) in groups II and III were similar and were significantly higher than group I. The cumulative period mean serum T$_3$ and T$_4$ values in groups I (1.21 and 21.81), II (1.23 and 21.42) and III (1.20 and 21.33) were comparable. From the present study it may be concluded that feeding of AWS treated with and without HCI to growing male buffalo calves for 180 days had no significant adverse effect on blood biochemical profile.

라디오 파를 이용한 국소 온열치료 : 정상 개의 간에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Radiofrequency Induced Local Hyperthermia on Normal Canine Liver)

  • 간조직에 온열치효를 시행시 출현하는 조직병리학적 소견 및 혈액의 생화학적 소견을 관찰하고자 13마리의 정상 간에 8 MHz 라디오파를 이용한 온열치료를 시 행하였다. $42\pm0.5^{\circ}C$로 30분간 온열치료를 받은 군(제 1 군, n=5), $45\pm0.5^{\circ}C$로 30분간 온열치료를 받은 군(제 2군, n=5) 및 온열치료를 받지않은 대조군(n=3)으로 나누어 분석하였을때, 혈액의 SGOT의 SGPT는 온열치료를 시행한 두군 공히 증가된 소견을 보였고 제 1군에서는 간세포의 부종소견외 특이한 조직병 리학적소견이 관찰되지않아 가역성 변화로 생각되었지만 제 2군에서는 간세포의 심한 괴사소견이 관찰되어 있는 불가역성의 가조직 손상으로 생각되었다. 이상의 결론으로 유추할때 임상에서 행하여지는 간암의 온열치료시에 정상 가조직의 손상을 가능한 방지하기위하여는 정확한 종괴의 구역에 치료온도의 주의깊은 관찰이 요구된다.

제Ia형 당원병 1례 (Glycogen Storage Disease , Type Ia) (A Case of Glycogen Storage Disease Type Ia Confirmed by Biopsy and Enzyme Assay)

  • 목적 : 제Ia형 당원병 (Type Ia Glycogen storage disease)은 Glucose-6-phosphathase 결핍으로 간, 신장, 장 (intestine)에 글리코겐이 축적되는 대사성 질환으로 상염색체 열성으로 유전되는 매우 드문 질환이다. 1929년 von Gierke에 의해 처음으로 보고된 이래, 현재 외국에서는 prenatal molecular diagnosis까지 가능하고 국내에서는 1972년 서등이 최초로 보고하였으며, 그 이후 임상양상 및 조직생검소견으로 진단된 예가 십여례 있었고, 1990년 김 등이 간조직내에 결핍된 효소를 검사하여 4례를 보고하였다. 이에 연자들은 임상소견, 간 및 신장 조직생검, 그리고 간조직내에서의 Glucose-6-phosphatase 효소의 결핍을 확인하여 von Gierke disease로 확진된 1례를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. 증례 : 환아는 18년 7개월된 남아로 출생시부터 복부 팽만을 보여 2세경 본원에 내원하여 복부초음파 및 동위원소 촬영상 간의 혈관종 진단받고, 추적 관찰없이 지내다가 13세때 신장이 135cm으로 3 percentile 미만의 저신장을 주소로 내원하여, 혈액검사상, SGOT/PT는 51/44 IU/L로 약간 증가되어 있으며, 복부 초음파상 간종대는 지속적으로 보였으나, 그외 특이소견은 없었다. 가족성 저신장으로 진단후 2년6개월간 성장호르몬 치료받으며 외래 추적관찰중 내원 5개월전 고혈압, 단백뇨, 고지혈증 및 elevated SGOT/PT를 주소로 정밀검사위해 입원하였다. 내원당시 키는 159 cm(<3 percentile),몸무게는 54 kg(10-25 percentile)이었고 혈압은 160/110 mmHg(>95 percentile)로 고혈압 소견보였다. 금번 입원시 말초혈액검사, 전해질 검사 및 혈당은 모두 정상이었고, SGOT/PT가 51/60 IU/L 약간 증가 되었고, 혈중 콜레스테롤치는 307 mg/dL, 요산이 9.2 mg/dL로 증가된 것 외에는 특이소견 업었다. 24시간 소변검사상 단백은 1.3gm, 크레아티닌 1028 mg, Ccr $114ml/min/1.73m^2$ 이였다. 복부 초음파와 CT scan상 간에 다발성 선종이 보였고, 상기 임상소견상 당원병 의심되어 신장과 간의 생검을 시행화여 간과 신장에서 모두 글리코겐의 축적을 관찰할 수 있었고, 선종부위의 생검에서도 선종으로 확인되었으며 악성변화는 없었다. 간조직을 이용한 효소검사상 Glucose-6-phosphatase에 대한 정량검사상 0.847 nM/min/mg protein으로 상당히 저하되어 있었다. 위, 소장 내시경 검사도 시행하여 조직검사까지 시행하였으나 글리코겐의 침착을 볼 수 없었다. 환아는 현재 고혈압 치료제 및 Allopurionol과 식이조절하며 외래에서 추적 관찰 중이다. 결 론 : 저자들은 임상증세, 간과 신장의 조직생검, 그리고 간 조직의 Glucose-6-phosphatase효소 검사를 시행하여 제Ia형 당원병으로 확진된 1례를 보고하는 바이다.

태음조위탕의 적용이 태음인 비만여대생의 신체조성, 혈청지질농도 및 혈중 항산화 효소에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Taeeumjoweetang on the Body Composition, Serum Lipid Level and Antioxidant Enzyme Activity of Obese Female College Students)

  • 1. Objectives: Though the eating habits have improved and the living method has become convenient according to the economic growth thanks to the modern industrialization, because of the lack of exercise, obesity, wrong eating habits and stress etc, various symptoms of disease of adults are on the rise. This is the phenomenon that happens as the eating life has become life in the West along with the inundation of the western culture in our society. In this perspective, there has been many various clinical research that's been proceeded so far about the physical constitution and obesity, but there has been little research on the objective analysis of the clinical research about the alimentotherapy using taeeumjoweetang. 2. Methods: In this research we have checked the weights, fat rates, fat weight, abdominal fat rate, blood pressure, and BMI over the objects of the women that were diagnosed as lunisolar system as their physical constitution, and assessed the paramecium lipid, in-blood antioxidation enzyme and the damage of oxidization in the urine by physical constitution-specific of the body shapes that were determined by BMI. The statistical analysis of the current research was processed by using of SPSS 17.0 program. We have figure out statistical amounts such as the arithmetic average, average deviation rate and percentage number. Fro the verification of he significancy of each elements, we have used the paired t-test, ANOVA, Chi-square test at the level of p<0.05. 3. Results and Conclusions: Their characteristics are age $21.20{\pm}1.35$, height $160.30{\pm}6.11cm$, weight $64.66{\pm}8.72kg$, fat rates are $35.97{\pm}4.87%$, fat amount $23.40{\pm}5.48$, abdominal fat rate $0.823{\pm}0.03$, BMI $25.12{\pm}2.79kg/m^2$, and systolic blood pressure $111.60{\pm}10.28mmHg$ and diastolic blood pressure $68.60{\pm}7.43mmHg$ and we have let them take the medicine twice a day for 8 weeks. The clinical result for the Cholesterol, Triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, of the object people was that for the function of the liver, the result of the SGOT and SGPT test was $17.16{\pm}3.05$, $15.00{\pm}2.99IU/L$, which was a decrease, and had statistical meaning, but for the SGOT, though the figure reduced to $11.92{\pm}4.61$, $10.80{\pm}3.07$, it had no statistical meaning. For the whole cholesterol level, the figure reduced to $169.00{\pm}19.95$, $160.08{\pm}22.52$ mg/dL and had statistical significance(p<0.05). Neuter fat number, Triglyceride has slightly increased to $67.52{\pm}36.32$, $68.08{\pm}47.33$ mg/dL but did not have any statistical meaning. The antioxdant enzyme marker standard marker, SOD has increased to $2.52{\pm}0.73$, $2.86{\pm}0.60U/ml$, and had statistical significance(p<0.01). Catalase also increased by $0.63{\pm}0.18$, $1.07{\pm}0.25mmol/ml$ and had statistical meaning(p<0.01). GPx also increased to $204.76{\pm}32.64$ nmol/ml and had statistical meaning(p<0.01). But, for the Total antioxidant, though it has raised to $1.51{\pm}0.26$, $1.57{\pm}0.17nmol/{\mu}l$, it did not have any statistical meaning. MDA of oxidative stress marker has decreased to $1.70{\pm}0.68{\mu}g/ml$, $1.21{\pm}0.50{\mu}g/m$ and had statistical significance(p<0.01). 8-OHdG also decreased $3.35{\pm}0.95ng/ml$, $2.21{\pm}0.50ng/ml$ and had statistical meaning(p<0.01). In this research, we have analyzed the various markers relating to BFM and changes in oxidative enzyme in blood by takingtaeeumjoweetang. Taeeumjoweetang has the positive effect on inbody antioxidant system and reducing the content of cholesterol, which is proven to help losing weight and improving hyperlipidemia statistically. With this research, we hope to improve the lifestyle of those who are either obese or need to manage their dietary habits, and also to become the touchstone of integrating Oriental Medicine with the science of food & nutrition.

  • 농촌주민(農村住民) 400명(名) 도시주민(都市住民) 600명(名)에 대한 혈액(血液) 및 혈청학적검사(血淸學的檢査)를 통하여 그 건강상태(健康狀態)를 조사(調査)한바 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 지역별(地域別) 각종검사(各種檢査)의 평균치(平均値)는 농촌남자(農村男子)에서 적혈구수(赤血球數), 혈색소량(血色素量), 적혈구용적치(赤血球容積値)들은 도시주민(都市住民)이 농촌주민(農村住民)에 비(比)하여 높았고 백혈구수(白血球數)는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 높았다. 신기능검사(腎機能檢査)에서 혈중요소질소치(血中尿素窒素値) 및 creatinine치(値)는 도시주민(都市住民)에서 높았고 간기능검사(肝機能檢査)에서는 총단백질량(總蛋白質量), bilirubin 및 alkaline phosphatase치(値)는 도시주민(都市住民)에서 albumin, SGOT는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 높았다. 기타(其他)범주에서는 혈중(血中) calcium은 도시주민(都市住民)에서 인(燐), 혈당(血糖) 및 cholesterol(値)는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 높았다. 평균치(平均値)는 성별차이(性別差異)에서는 농촌(農村), 도시(都市) 모두 남자(男子)의 평균치(平均値)가 총단백질치(總蛋白質値) 및 인치(燐値)를 제(除)하고는 모두 남자(男子)에서 높았다. 다음으로 각검사치(各檢査値)의 정상범위(正常範圍)에 대한 이상치율(異常値率)을 보면 농촌남자(農村男子)에서 적혈구용적치(赤血球容積値)에서 정상범위(正常範圍)가 하치율(下値率)이 도시남자(都市男子)에 비하여 높았으나 백혈구수치(白血球數値)는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 정상범위이상치(正常範圍以上値)가 높았다. 혈중요소실요치(血中尿素窒素値)는 정상범위이상(正常範圍以上), 이하치간(以下値間)이나 도농주민간(都農住民間)에 별차이(別差異)가 없었고 creatinine은 도시주민(都市住民)에서 이상치율(異常値率)이 높았다. 간기능검사(肝機能檢査)에서는 총단백(總蛋白), alkaline phosphatase는 도시주민(都市住民)에서 정상범위이상치(正常範圍以上値)가 고율(高率)인데 반(反)하여 albumine SGOT 및 SGPT는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 이상치율(以上値率)이 높았다. 기타(其他)범주에서는 calcium은 도시주민(都市住民)에서 인(燐) 및 혈당치(血糖値)는 농촌주민(農村住民)에서 정상범위이상치율(正常範圍以上値率)이 높았고 cholesterol치는 정상범위이하(正常範圍以下) 및 이상치(以上値) 모두 도시주민(都市住民)에서 고율(高率)이었다. 여자(女子)에서는 혈액상(血液相)에서는 남자(男子)에 비(比)하여 정상범위이상치(正常範圍以上値)의 빈도(頻度)가 더욱 심하였으나 기타치(其他値)에서는 남자(男子)에 비(比)하여 도농간(都農間)의 차이(差異)가 적은점(點)을 제외(除外)하고는 거의 같은 경향(傾向)을 나타내었다.

틸라피아의 해수순치에 관한 생리학적 연구 II. 혈청성분과 전기영동상의 변화 (Physiological Studies on Adaptation of Tilapia(Oreochromis miloticus) in the Various Salinities II. Serum Components Levels and Electrophoretic Patterns)

  • This study was taken to examine serum components concentrations and electrophoretic patterns of female tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) living in 0$\textperthousand$, 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$, and 30$\textperthousand$ salt concentrations, respectively. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows. The level of albumin and total protein showed changes in each salinity, but didn't significantly(P<0.05) change in Oreochromis niloticus. The level of BUN didn't significantly(P<0.05) change. When fish were adapted from 0$\textperthousand$ to 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$ and 30$\textperthousand$, each calcium level in every salinity groups showed less than that of control, and didn't significantly change in 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$, 30$\textperthousand$ salinity. The level of calcium didn't significantly(P<0.05) change in each salinity. In 20$\textperthousand$ salinity, the level of cholesterol was at the highest peak. When fish were adapted from 0$\textperthousand$ to 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$ and 30$\textperthousand$, each glucose level gradually decreased. When fish were adapted from 0$\textperthousand$ to 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$ and 30$\textperthousand$, each glucose level gradually decreased. When fish were adapted from 0$\textperthousand$ to 10$\textperthousand$, 20$\textperthousand$ and 30$\textperthousand$. In 30$\textperthousand$ salinity, the level of alkaline phosphatase was at the highest peak. The level of serum enzyme such as SGOT and SGPT was higher in seawater-adapted group than in freshwater group. The level of phosphorus chnage significantly(P<0.05) in each salinity. Correlation coefficient between serum albumin and glucose in 0$\textperthousand$ was +0.924. Correlation coefficient between serum SGOT and SGPT of individuals in 0$\textperthousand$ was +0.917. Fraction 1 of transferrin patterns of tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus) adapted in seawater was much thicker than that of transferrin patterns of individuals adapted in freshwater. Also fraction No. a wasn't observed in some individuals adapted in freshwater. These results showed that transferrin adapted in seawater relatively increased. Slight differences, that is, showed to be observed in total iron binding capacityand iron saturatin rate between tilapia adapted in freshwater and in seawater. The increase in total iron binding capacity was attributed to a rise in transferrin pressent in the first fraction of serum protein adapted in seawater. Accordingly, the serum iron levles seemed to be related to salinity($\textperthousand$).
