A description of SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) is given together with a detailed description of WIPO Standard ST.32. The benefits of the use of SGML are highlighted-its system Independence and flexibility in building publication systems and full-text databases. A structure of WIPO Standard ST,32 based patent content is defined by DTD(document type definition) written in ST.32, and full-text itself is described with generalized markup depending on DTD. This article explains how to represent a document structure : a hierarchy structure like a entire document, a specific, sub-document, a paragraph, or non-hirarchy structure like a table drawings, or chemical structures. Merits of SGML In patent document processing are also discussed.

SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) and its application to full-text database including a table, a figure and a picture are explained. A structure of SGML based full-text database Is defined by DTD(document type definition) written in SGML, and full-text itself is described with generalized markup depending on DTD. This article explains how to represent a document structure : a hierarchical structure like a chapter, a section, or a paragraph, or non-hierarchical(referencial) structure like a note, a table, a figure or a picture. Merits of SGML, electronic publishing, a retrieval system or hypertext and SGML tools are also described.

이기종 시스템들 간의 멀티미디어 문서 교환을 목적으로 제정된 국제 표준어 SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)이다[1]. 이 SGML문서로 구축된 각종 파일이나 데이터베이스들은 온라인에 의한 정보검색에 한정되어 있다. 현재 많이 활용하는 웹(WWW)에서는 이들을 XML 문서로 변환되어야 Internet상에서 이용할 수 있다. XML(eXtensible Markup Language)은 이기종 시스템들간의 문서를 교환하고 이를 웹을 통하여 보여줄 수 있다[2]. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 SGML문서를 이용하여 SML문서 형태로 변환하는 방안을 제시하고, 이를 구현하는데 목적이 있다.

본 논문에서는 SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)을 사용하여 텍스트 검색시스템을 구축하였다. SGML은 개괄적 마크업언어로서 문헌을 문헌요소라는 객체 단위로 이루어진 것으로 보고 이러한 문헌요소간의 관계를 표현하므로, 텍스트 검색시스템에서 SGML을 이용하면 문헌을 구조화할 수 있고 전문(full text)을 효율적으로 조직하고 검색하는 것이 가능하다.

This papar describes an design and implementation of a rule builder, named SGML DTD(Document Type Definition) Editor conforming to ISO 8879(SGML : Standard Generalized Markup Language). SGML DTD define types of logical structure in documents and it is very hard to managing, operating with general common text editors because of it's complex structures. Therefore, We studied DTD automatic editor and production system, prototype system, direct operations on graphic trees in the environment of windows. It's easy to handle with general users. So, We analyzed the structures of document, and studied about SGML documents operation models. And also described logical structures by tree on Windows.

SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language) is proper to view, modify and create new electronic document as documentation standard to create and interchange the structured document information. Accordingly, a study on efficient storage and management of very large structured SGML document information is need. This paper proposes design of data modeling based on GROVE(Graph Representation Of property ValuEs) defined in HyTime(Hypermedia Time-based Structuring Language) and describes design of SGML document storage management system.

SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)은 구조적 문서를 나타내기 위한 표준으로 서로 다른 컴퓨터 기종간에 호환이 가능하며 다방면에 유연하게 이용 가능한 점이 장점이다. 전자도서관, 온라인 매뉴얼 등의 분야에서 SGML 이 활용되면서, 대용량의 SGML 문서를 처리하고 사용자에게 정보를 제공하는 SGML 데이터베이스 시스템이 필요하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 대용량의 SGML 데이터베이스를 정의하기 위한 데이터 모델로서, 엘리먼트 구조를 보완하고 문서의 개념을 표현할 수 있는 컴포넌트 기반 모델을 제시하고 기본적인 저장 시스템을 구현하였다 검증을 위해 실험을 수행하였으며 저장과 검색 면에서 성능 향상을 얻었다..

CALS is a strategy to share integrated product data through a set of standards to achieve efficiencies in business and operational mission areas. In this research, we first studied current status for CALS standard and then analyzed the case of US DoD. The results can be summarized as implementing for two major standard in defense CALS system. They are STEP and XML. Our recommendations can be used to set direction for CALS standard implementation and standard selection process.

이 기종간의 효율적인 문서 교환을 목적으로 생겨난 SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)은 현재 여러 많은 연구기관 및 재단에서 문서의 표준으로 잡아가고 있다. 최근에 와서는 SGML, DTD를 모델링 하기 위한 여러 방법이 제시되고 있다. 본 논문은 이런 SGML, DTD를 객체지향 Class Diagram에 기반 한 형태로 변환하는 알고리즘을 제시한다. 이를 통해 우리는 점점 그 규모가 방대해 지고 있는 SGML 문서를 객체지향 DB로 저장할 수 있게 될 것이다.

문서의 내용을 효율적으로 표현하기 위해서는 문서를 문서구조와 형식으로 분리하는 것이 필요하다. 인터넷에서의 문서구조는 SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language)에서 파생된 HTML로 표현하는 것이 일반화되었으며, 1996년에 이르러 문서형식 부분도 DSSSL(Document Style Semantics and Specification Language: ISO/IEC 10179)로 제정되었으나 아직 개발 사례는 없다. 동 기술은 DSSSL 형식에 따라 복합문서를 볼 수 있게 개발한 Library를 기반으로 SGML 기반 브라우저를 1998년 4월 세계 최초로 개발하였다.
