Risk Factors Associated with Subdural Hygroma after Decompressive Craniectomy in Patients with Traumatic Brain Injury : A Comparative Study

  • Objective : Subdural hygroma (SDG) is a complication occurring after head trauma that may occur secondary to decompressive craniectomy (DC). However, the mechanism underlying SDG formation is not fully understood. Also, the relationship between the operative technique of DC or the decompressive effect and the occurrence and pathophysiology of SDG has not been clarified. Purpose of this study was to investigate the risk factors of SDG after DC in our series. Methods : From January 2004 to December 2008, DC was performed in 85 patients who suffered from traumatic brain injury. We retrospectively reviewed the clinical and radiological features. For comparative analysis, we divided the patients into 2 groups : one group with SDG after craniectomy (19 patients; 28.4% of the total sample), the other group without SDG (48 patients; 71.6%). The risk factors for developing SDG were then analyzed. Results : The mean Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS) scores at discharge of the groups with and without SDG were 2.8 and 3.1, respectively (p<0.0001). Analysis of radiological factors showed that a midline shift in excess of 5 mm on CT scans was present in 19 patients (100%) in the group with SDG and in 32 patients (66.7%) in the group without SDG (p<0.05). An accompanying subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) was seen in 17 patients (89.5%) in the group with SDG and in 29 patients (60.4%) in the group without SDG (p<0.05). Delayed hydrocephalus accompanied these findings in 10 patients (52.6%) in the group with SDG, versus 5 patients (10.4%) in the group without SDG (p<0.05). On CT, compression of basal cisterns was observed in 14 members (73.7%) in the group with SDG and in 18 members of the group without SDG (37.5%) (p<0.007). Furthermore, tearing of the arachnoid membrane, as observed on CT, was more common in all patients in the group with SDG (100%) than in the group without SDG (31 patients; 64.6%) (p<0.05). Conclusion : GOS showed statistically significant difference in the clinical risk factors for SDG between the group with SDG and the group without SDG. Analysis of radiological factors indicated that a midline shifting exceeding 5 mm, SAH, delayed hydrocephalus, compression of basal cisterns, and tearing of the arachnoid membrane were significantly more common in patients with SDG.

  • 본 연구에서 SDG를 사용한 교육 퍼즐구현을 통하여 협동학습을 컴퓨터교육에 적용하였다. SDG란 하나의 컴퓨터 디스플레이에 다중 입력장치로 협동적인 작업을 할 수 있는 시스템을 말한다. SDG 기반의 협동학습을 통해 학습자들은 협동 학습을 수행하게 된다. SDG를 이용한 협동학습이 단일 디바이스를 이용한 개별 학습보다 우월하다는 기존의 연구가 있다. 이를 바탕으로 협동학습을 이용한 퍼즐게임을 구현하였다.

지식 기반 접근법과 Loop 검증을 이용한 부호운향그래프 자동합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Automatic Synthesis of Signed Directed Graph Using Knowledge-based Approach and Loop Verification)

  • 화학공정 변수간의 관계를 표현하는 방법으로, 지식기반 접근법을 이용하여 부호유향그래프(signed directed graph, SDG)를 자동합성하였다. SDG의 자동합성은 지식베이스를 이용한 추론과정 및 Loop 검증의 두 단계를 거쳐 수행된다. 먼저, 공정내 장치를 중심으로 장치간의 결합관계를 Topology로 표현하고, Topology 정보를 이용한 공정 변수관계 표현 및 지식베이스의 공정경향 데이타를 문자 패턴 매칭하여 Primary-SDG를 자동으로 합성한다. 생성된 Primary-SDG를 Loop 검증기의 추론을 통하여 검증, 수정하여 SDG를 자동합성하였다.

SDG기반의 영어, 수학 협동학습 프로그램의 구현 (An Implementation of SDG Program for English, Mathematics Cooperative Study)

  • 본 연구에서 초등학생의 영어, 수학 교육에 아이들이 쉽게 접근 할 수 있도록 게임적 요소, Single Display Groupware(이하 SDG) 기술을 적용한 프로그램을 구현하였다. SDG란 하나의 컴퓨터 디스플레이에 다중 입력장치로 협동적인 작업을 할 수 있는 시스템을 말한다. SDG 기반의 영어, 수학 프로그램을 통해 학습자들은 협동학습을 수행하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 협동학습 프로그램 구현과정을 기술한다. 이 프로그램을 사용하여 초등학교 학생들에게 사용성 테스트를 실행하였다.

  • Sustainable development is no longer an option, but a requirement. Under this awareness, UN adopted 17 goals for a new sustainable development agenda on September 2015, named 'Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)'. The Korean Society of Rural Planning(KSRP) is established on July 1994 for the sustainable development of rural areas. On the purpose to quantitatively analyze the research trend of KSRP's publications with the viewpoint of SDGs, the qualitative documents of 17 SDGs and 771 publications were mathematically transformed into vectors and the similarity was numerically measured with the 'Vector Space Model(VSM)'. The results show that 'Sustainable cities and communities(SDG 11)', 'Zero hunger(SDG 2)', 'Life on land(SDG 15)' and 'Responsible consumption and production(SDG 12)' have strong relationships with KSRP, while those of 'Affordable and clean energy(SDG 7)', 'Peace, justice and strong institution(SDG 16)' and 'Gender equality(SDG 5)' are weak. It is also found that the relationships of KSRP publications with 'energy' and 'climate change' issues(SDG 7, 13) were greatly increased during the period of 1995-2016, in spite of their weak relationships.

Analysis of Risk Factor for the Development of Chronic Subdural Hematoma in Patients with Traumatic Subdural Hygroma

  • Objective : Although a high incidence of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) following traumatic subdural hygroma (SDG) has been reported, no study has evaluated risk factors for the development of CSDH. Therefore, we analyzed the risk factors contributing to formation of CSDH in patients with traumatic SDG. Methods : We retrospectively reviewed patients admitted to Hallym University Hospital with traumatic head injury from January 2004 through December 2013. A total of 45 patients with these injuries in which traumatic SDG developed during the follow-up period were analyzed. All patients were divided into two groups based on the development of CSDH, and the associations between the development of CSDH and independent variables were investigated. Results : Thirty-one patients suffered from bilateral SDG, whereas 14 had unilateral SDG. Follow-up computed tomography scans revealed regression of SDG in 25 of 45 patients (55.6%), but the remaining 20 patients (44.4%) suffered from transition to CSDH. Eight patients developed bilateral CSDH, and 12 patients developed unilateral CSDH. Hemorrhage-free survival rates were significantly lower in the male and bilateral SDG group (logrank test; p=0.043 and p=0.013, respectively). Binary logistic regression analysis revealed male (OR, 7.68; 95% CI 1.18-49.78; p=0.033) and bilateral SDG (OR, 8.04; 95% CI 1.41-45.7; p=0.019) were significant risk factors for development of CSDH. Conclusion : The potential to evolve into CSDH should be considered in patients with traumatic SDG, particularly male patients with bilateral SDG.

Effects of Antler Development Stage on Fatty acid, Vitamin and GAGs Contents of Velvet Antler in Spotted Deer (Cervus nippon)

  • This study aimed to provide basic information as the foundation for further studies on the assessment of velvet antler quality by investigating the changes in fatty acid, vitamin A and E, minerals and GAGs contents by development stage of antler in spotted deer (Cervus nippon). Twelve stags (aged 4 to 5 years) were divided into two groups and velvet antler harvested 40 days (FDG) and 60 days (SDG) after casting of the buttons from the previous set. Total saturated fatty acid was lower in FDG than SDG (p<0.05). Total monounsaturated fatty acid, conjugated linoleic acid (p<0.05), polyunsaturated fatty acid and ${\omega}$3 fatty acid were higher in FDG than SDG. The vitamin A content of FDG was higher than that of SDG, but the vitamin E content of FDG was lower than that of SDG (p<0.05). SDG had significantly higher calcium and phosphate content than FDG (p<0.05). The magnesium content showed a similar trend to the contents of calcium and phosphate, but there was no significant difference between SDG and FDG. Uronic acid content was higher in FDG than SDG but there was no significant difference. The contents of GAGs and sialic acid were significantly higher (p<0.05) in FDG than SDG. These results indicated that the longer stage of antler development had lower content of activating components and this lead to a decrease of antler quality.

SDG(Single Display Groupware) 기반 도서관 이용 교육 시스템 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on Implementation of Library Utilization Education System Based on SDG(Single Display Groupware))

  • 본 연구는 어린이들의 도서관 이용 교육에 협동학습을 이용하고, 이 협동학습에 SDG 기술을 적용한 시스템을 기술한다. SDG란 하나의 컴퓨터 디스플레이에 다중 입력장치로 협동적인 작업을 할 수 있는 시스템을 말한다. SDG 기반의 도서관 이용 교육을 통해 학습자들은 동시에 협동적으로 학습을 수행하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 SDG를 이용한 협동학습이 단일 디바이스를 이용한 개별 학습보다 우월하다는 기존의 연구를 바탕으로 한국 십진분류법의 이해, 그리고 서가의 배열과 위치 확인 학습을 게임 형식으로 구현하였다. 이 시스템을 통해 도서관 사서들이 어린이들에게 도서관 이용을 쉽고 재미있게 교육 할 수 있을 것이다.

지속가능발전목표(SDGs) 성취를 위한 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램 개발 (Development of a Theme-Selection Activity in 'Clothing Life' in Relation to SDGs for the Free Semester Program)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)를 위한 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램을 개발하는 데 있다. 이에 따라 중학교 가정 교과서 의생활영역 내용을 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)를 기준으로 분석하여 내용 체계 및 학습 목표를 설정한 후, 의생활 자유학기제 주제선택활동 프로그램을 개발하여 실행 가능성 및 타당성을 검증하였다. 교과서분석 결과 지속가능발전목표(SDGs)로 비추어 본 가정 교과서 의생활 영역의 내용은 사회발전, 경제성장, 환경보존차원을 모두 포함하고 있었으나 각 영역 속 일부 1-2가지 목표에 집중되어있는 것을 확인하였다. 분석 결과를 토대로 '의(義)로운 의(衣)생활' 프로그램을 개발하였다. 프로그램은 SDG12를 중심으로 한 '모두가 꿈꾸는 미래'와 SDG1, SDG5, SDG8, SDG10을 중심으로 한 '패스트 패션의 두 얼굴', SDG13을 중심으로 한 '호모클리마투스로 살아가기', 마지막으로 SDG9, SDG12를 중심으로 한 '우리가 만드는 미래'로 구성된 총 8차시의 교수·학습과정안과 교수·학습활동 자료이다. 이에 대한 전문가 평가과정을 통하여 프로그램의 교수·학습 적절성과 현장 실행 가능성을 검토하고, 피드백 의견을 적극적으로 반영하여 프로그램을 수정 및 보완하였다. 이 논문을 통해 가정교과가 지속가능한 삶을 실천하는 시민을 양성하는 교과이자, 지속가능발전교육의 중추적인 교과로 자리 잡을 수 있는 토대 마련에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

  • Symmetrical Digital Gangrene (SDG) is characterized by the sudden onset of peripheral, symmetrical gangrene in the absence of any major vascular occlusive disease. Catecholamine inotropes are frequently used for the treatment of septic shock combined with an unstable hemodynamic state, and their usage can rarely induce SDG. There is no standard treatment for the SDG. Early recognition and prompt management of sepsis and expeditious process of weaning off of the inotropes are necessary to prevent progression of SDG. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report in Korea regarding the treatment of SDG induced by catecholamine inotropes.
