Purpose : Effects to predict tile progression of chronic renal failure (CRF) in children, using mathematical models based on transformations of serum creatinine (Scr) concentration, have failed. Error may be introduced by age-related variations in creatinine production rate. Height (Ht) is a reliable reference for creatinine production in children. Thus, Scr, factored for Ht, could provide a more accurate predictive model. We examined this hypothesis. Methods : The progression of of was detected in 63 children who proceeded to end-stage renal disease. Derivatives of Scr, including 1/Scr, log Scr & Ht/Scr, were defined fir the period Scr was between 2 and 5 mg/dl. Regression equation were used to predict the time, in months, to Scr > 10 mg/dl. The prediction error (PE) was defined as the predicted time minus actual time for each Scr transformation. Result : The PE for Ht/Scr was lower than the PE for either 1/Scr or log Scr (median: -0.01, -2.0 & +10.6 mos respectively; P<0.0001). For children with congenital renal diseases, the PE for Ht/Scr was also lower than for the other two transformations (median: -1.2, -3.2 & +8.2 mos respectively; P<0.0001). However, the PEs for children with glomerular diseases was not as clearly different (median: +0.9, +0.5 & +9.9 respectively). In children < 13 yrs, PE for Ht/Scr was tile lowest, while in older children, 1/Scr provided the lowest PE but not significantly different from that for Ht/Scr. The logarithmic transformation tended to predict a slower progression of CRF than actually occurred. Conclusion : Scr, floored for Ht, appears to be a useful model to predict the rate of progression of CRF, particularly in the prepubertal child with congenital renal disease.
As the national demand for solving the fine dust problem has increased, the government has announced intensive measures to deal with fine dust. So recently, selective catalytic reduction(SCR) has attracted attention as a technology for removing nitrogen oxides from precursors of fine dust. In this study, the government's policies related to fine dust and the current status of market and R&D were investigated, and economic analysis by scenarios was conducted by dividing cases where SCR technology was applied to industries. The results of economic analysis for each scenario were calculated using NPV, and companies with no denitrification facilities(Case 1) introduced general SCR technologies(Scenario 1-1) and low-temperature SCR technologies(Scenario 1-2). In addition, companies that have already installed denitrification facilities(Case 2) analyzed the two categories, using the general SCR technology as it is(Scenario 2-1) and replacing it with low-temperature SCR technology(Scenario 2-2). Comparative analysis was performed based on the results of each NPV.
This paper have examined the optimum combination of SNCR and SCR by varying SNCR injection temperature and NSR ratio along with SCR space velocity. NOx reduction experiments using a SNCR/SCR combined process have been conducted in simple NO/NH$_3$/O$_2$ gas mixtures. Total gas flow rate was kept constant 4 liter/min throughout the SNCR and SCR reactors, where initial NOx concentration was 500 ppm in the presence of 5% O$_2$. Commercial catalyst, sulfated V$_2$O$\_$5/-WO$_3$/TiO$_2$, was used for SCR NOx reduction. The residence time and space velocity were around 1.67 sec, 2,400 h$\^$-1/ and 6,000 h$\^$-1/ in the SNCR and SCR reactors, respectively. SNCR NOx reduction effectively occurred in a temperature window of 900-950$^{\circ}C$. About 88% NOx reduction was achieved with an optimum temperature of 950$^{\circ}C$ and NSR=1.5. SCR NOx reduction using commercial V$_2$O$\_$5/-WO$_3$-SO$_4$/TiO$_2$ catalyst occurred in a temperature window of 200-450$^{\circ}C$ 80-98% NOxreduction was possible with SV=2400 h$\^$-1/ and a molar ratio of 1.0-2.0. A SNCR/SCR(SV=6000 h$\^$-1/) combined process has shown same NOx reduction compared with a stand-alone SCR(SV=2400 h$\^$-1/) unit process of 98% NOx reduction. The NH$_3$-based chemical could routinely achieve SNCR/SCR combined process total NOx reductions of 98% with less than 5 ppm NH$_3$ slip at NSR ranging from about 1.5 to 2.0, SNCR temperature of 900$^{\circ}C$-950$^{\circ}C$, and SCR space velocity of 6000 h$\^$-1/. Particularly, more than 98% NOx reduction was possible using the combined process under the conditions of T$\_$SNCR/=950$^{\circ}C$, T$\_$SCR/=350$^{\circ}C$, 5% O$_2$, SV=6000 h$\^$-1/ and NH$_3$/NOx=1.5. A catalyst volume was about three times reduced by SNCR/SCR combined process compared with SCR process under the same controlled conditions.
Experimental investigation to estimate the feasibility of fast selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or oxidation catalyst combined ammonia SCR system to abate NOx in low temperature condition ($150{\sim}250^{\circ}C$) is reported. Because the conversion of NO to $NO_2$ is pre-requisite of the fast SCR process, the effect of the amount of oxidation catalyst to NO conversion to $NO_2$ was tested. 37, 45 and 51% of conversion rates were obtained for the OCV of 563000, 375000 and 281000 h, respectively. $De-NO_x$ performance in the case of $NO_2/NO_x$ ratio of 45% showed the best result in all tested temperature conditions. Comparison of the fast SCR and standard SCR with the condition of $NO_2/NO_x$ ratio of 45%, $200{\sim}250^{\circ}C$ and space velocity of 10000~30000 h showed that the fast SCR does not show much difference according to the variance of space velocity. Also it was shown that using the fast SCR, the volume of SCR catalyst can be reduced less than half of the standard SCR condition by increasing space velocity without the loss of $De-NO_x$ performance.
DeNOx characteristics of hybrid SNCR-SCR process have been investigated in a pilot scale flow reactor. DeNOx efficiency of SNCR reaction was about 80% at $970^{\circ}C$ and hybrid SNCR-SCR process showed 92% at $940^{\circ}C$ with NSR = 2.0. Compared to SNCR process alone, hybrid SNCR-SCR process was more effective at cool side, which is lower than $940{^{\circ}C}$. It should be also noted that ammonia slip from hybrid SNCR-SCR process was below 1ppm at the condition of higher space velocity and the required catalyst volume can be decreased to 2/3 of SCR process. Key factors for DeNOx efficiency of hybrid SNCR-SCR process were found to be $NH_3$ concentration and NOx selectivity of urea injected in SNCR process.

SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) process is presently considered as one of the most effective techniques for removing nitric oxides from exhaust gases. In this study, based on the conceptually designed SCR reactor of 500 MW coal fired power plant. a reduced scale (1/20) SCR reactor model was made to analyze the flow pattern in front of catalyst layer according to the guide vane's design factors such as the number, interval, and angle of vanes. The results of the test were compared to those numerical simulation in order to assure the reliability of two methods. On the basis of our study. the critical Reynolds number (2.0$\times$ 10$^{5}$ ) was proposed for ensuring the similarity between the reduced scale model and the prototype of SCR reactor. Optimum design parameters of guide vanes were determined as follows, 4 vanes, the first vane angle of 93$^{\circ}$, and the vane intervals of 0.85 S/n, 1.05 S/n, 1.1 S/n, 1.0S/n, 1.0S/n (S: the distance of duct, n: the number of guide vanes). The excellent agreement between the results of the numerical simulation and the reduced scale model provides the validation of two methods for prediction of flow through SCR reactor.

Small-pore Cu-chabazite SCR catalysts with high NOx conversion at low temperatures are of interest for marine diesel engines with exhaust temperatures in the range of 150 to $300^{\circ}C$. Unfortunately, fuels for marine diesel engines can contain a high level of sulfur of up to 1.5% by volume, which corresponds to a $SO_2$ level of 500 ppm in the exhaust gases for an engine operating with an A/F ratio of 50:1. This high level of $SO_2$ in the exhaust may have detrimental effects on the NOx performance of the Cu-chabazite SCR catalysts. In the present study, a bench-flow reactor is used to investigate the effects of sulfur poisoning on the NOx performance of Cu-chabazite SCR catalysts. The SCR catalysts were exposed to simulated diesel exhaust gas stream consisted of 500 ppm $SO_2$, 5% $CO_2$, 14% $O_2$, 5% $H_2O$ with $N_2$ as the balance gas at 150, 200, 250 and $300^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours at a GHSV of 30,000 $h^{-1}$. After sulfur poisoning the low-temperature NOx performance of the SCR catalyst is evaluated over a temperature range of 150-$300^{\circ}C$ to determine the extent of the catalyst deactivation. Desulfation is also carried out at 600 and $700^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes to determine whether it is possible to recover the NOx performance of the sulfur-poisoned SCR Catalysts.
Purpose: Performance recovered from SCR through cleaning was studied, measuring differential pressure, NOx reduction efficiency, fuel consumption and engine power before and after cleaning. Ideal cleaning intervals are proposed based on SCR mileage and differential pressure. SCR endurance and reliability improvements through cleaning were studied through physicochemical testing of SCR durability at 43,000km 50,000km, and 110,000km respectively. Methods: Engine power, fuel consumption and exhaust gas were measured using engine full load tests and ND-13 MODE by installing the SCR before cleaned at total engine mileages of 400,000 km, 300,000km and 200,000km. The same tests were performed after cleaning the SCR catalytic converter. Endurance and reliability of the SCR cleaning was studied through the same test by SCR catalyst after each 43,000km 50,000km, 110,000km, durability test on SCR cleaning. Conclusion: We confirmed the low-performance of the SCR due to clogging is restored by SCR cleaning technology. The NOx reduction efficiency was restored to 82%, 86% and 88% from 69%, 72% and 79%. As well as the NOx reduction efficiency, it was confirmed that the engine power, fuel consumption and back pressure was restored to fresh SCR levels. As a result of the durability and reliability achieved through SCR cleaning, we confined the appearance and reduction efficiency through visual inspection and ND-13 MODE are similar to new SCR catalysts. Finally, it was judged that there was no change in performance even when driving the SCR without cleaning throughout the 100,000 km mileage warranty.
Soybean curd residues (SCR) obtained from hot and cold manufacturing processes were fermented by indigenous microorganisms, Lactobacillus rhamnosus LS and Bacillus firmus NA-l for 15 h at 37$^{\circ}C$. The pH, acidity, viable cell counts, and tyrosine content were evaluated in samples with variations in sugar, starter and type of SCR. The raw Doowon SCR (D-SCR, cold-processed) fermented by indigenous microorganism had a 0.9% acidity and 6.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{7}$ CFU/g viable cell counts, compared with the 0.11 % acidity and 6.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g viable cell counts of raw fermented Pulmuwon SCR (P-SCR, hot-processed). After fermentation of raw P-SCR with 1 % glucose and 1 % L. rhamnosus LS starter, the viable cell counts, tyrosine content and acidity were 4.7 ${\times}$ 10$^{8}$ CFU/g, 16.3 mg% and 0.9%, respectively. In addition, the raw P-SCR fermented with Bacillus firmus NA-l as co-starter had a 0.45% acidity, 2.4 ${\times}$ 10$^{8}$ CFU/g lactic acid bacteria, and 3.3 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g Bacillus sp. In particular, the tyrosine content was increased 5 fold. The drying of fermented SCR was completed by hot-air drying (5$0^{\circ}C$) within 12 h; the dried P-SCR and D-SCR had 1.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{7}$ CFU/g and 5.3 ${\times}$ 10$^{6}$ CFU/g viable cell counts, respectively. The concentrate of methanol extract from fermented D-SCR inhibited the initial cell growth of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa in liquid culture.

The design challenges when attempting to obtain sufficient strength for a deepwater steel catenary riser (SCR) include high stress near the hang-off location, an elevated beam-column buckling load due to the effective compression in the touchdown zone (TDZ), and increased stress and low-cycle fatigue damage in the TDZ. Therefore, a systematic strength analysis is required for the proper design of an SCR. However, deepwater SCR analysis is a new research area. Thus, the objective of this study was to develop an overall analysis procedure for a deepwater SCR. The structural behavior of a deepwater SCR under various environmental loading conditions was investigated, and a sensitivity analysis was conducted with respect to various parameters such as the SCR weight, weight of the internal contents, hang-off angle (HOA), and vertical soil stiffness. Based on a deepwater SCR design example, it was found that the maximum stress of an SCR occurred at a hang-off location under parallel loading direction with respect to the riser plane, except for a wave dominant dynamic survival loading condition. Furthermore, the tensile stress governed the total stress of the SCRs, whereas the bending stress governed the total stress at the TDZ. The weight of the SCR and internal contents affected the maximum stress of the SCR more than the HOA and vertical soil stiffness, because the weight of the SCR, including the internal contents, was directly related to its tensile stress.
