A review of literature discussing the status and impact of mainstream Korean research revealed that there have been few studies carried out to investigate the status of Korean mainstream medical research and that we need to know exact status of Korean medical papers published in mainstream journals. Accordingly, a study is undertaken to measure mainstream medical publication output by authors at Korean institutions and its growth during the 1980s as recorded in MEDLINE. EMBASE and SCI. For comparison purpose, a measurement of mainstream publication output of chemistry, a scientific field which showed the best mainstream performance, is also made. The database searching is limited to SCI for chemistry records.

이 연구의 목적은 SCI 논문들이 한국 의학 학술지 논문을 인용할 때, 잘못 표기한 학술지 명칭의 유형별 오류를 파악하는 것이다. Koreamed에 등재된 국내 의학 학술지 187종 중 SCI의 Cited Work List에 나타난 학술지명 표기가 13종이 넘는 학술지를 선택했고, 그 중 SCI에서 인용이 많이 된 학술지 7종의 2001-2011년을 대상으로 하였다. 총 463회의 학술지명 표기 오류가 있었는데, 8가지 유형별로 보면, 관사(the)오류 170회, 약어명 오류 104회, 학술지명 변경 오류 104회, 학술지명 부분누락 또는 삽입오류 43회, 스펠링 오류 27회, 전치사 오류 10회, 타 학술지명 기재 오류 3회, 대소문자 오류 2회로 나타났다.

이 연구는 문헌정보 기반의 연구개발 기획 지원 서비스 발굴을 위해 SCI 학술지에 발표한 국내 바이오나노 분야의 논문을 인용한 논문들의 키워드를 기반으로 지식이전 행태를 분석하였다. 피인용 논문은 2004년, 2006년, 2008년에 발표한 논문 중 가장 인용빈도가 높은 바이오공정, 바이오센서, 바이오시스템 분야의 논문들을 대상으로 하였다. 인용한 논문들의 키워드 분석 결과, 바이오공정 분야는 바이오센서와 환경관련 분야로, 바이오센서 분야는 후각센서응용 분야와 면역증강응용 분야로, 바이오시스템 분야는 약물전달 및 암 진단 분야로 지식이 이전되었다.

This paper introduces a new qualitative measurement indicator, Relatively Rank-normalized Impact Factor ($R^2nIF$) that can overcome drawbacks of the existing research performance measures. With the help of this innovative indicator, this study analyzes and compares the quality of research papers across countries and National Science Indicators (NSI) standard academic fields. The development of an improved bibliometric indicator for evaluating the quality of research papers and disentangling the "international" dimension of research performance will be of interest to academics and practitioners alike.

This paper describes evaluation methods of serials and also introduces a case study related to the selection and evaluation of serials. A total of 1,291 titles of serials, which were subscription titles of POSTECH in the field of science and technology in 2002, were analyzed. This study employs the analysis of POSTECH SCI Article reference data to suggest the models for evaluating serials and to identify the guideline for journal selection and collection development.

최근 국제학술지에 등재되는 한국 의학논문이 증가하는 이유가 SCI 또는 MEDLINE 학술지를 선호하는 연구업적 평가정책과 관련이 있는지에 대한 관심이 국내학계에 존재하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 1980년대에 이어 1990년대에도 SCI 학술지나 MEDLINE 학술지에 많은 논문을 발표한 의학분야 중의 하나인 방사선학분야를 중심으로, 한국 의학자들이 1990년대에 발표한 논문들의 증가추세, 국제학술지와 국내학술지 논문 분포현황을 분석하여, 우리나라 의학 학술논문의 국제화 동향과 그 특성을 고찰하였다.

Visualization elements as the technology to offer information to users effectively have become more important. In this study, we evaluate the usefulness of visualization elements in InSciTe which is a technology intelligence service developed by using Semantic Web technologies and text mining technologies for establishing R&D strategy using papers and patents. We propose design which can be preferred by users and applying methods of visualization elements through the quantitative and qualitative evaluation about each types of service. As a result of evaluation, we conclude that the visualization elements in InSciTe are implemented user-friendly to improve user's cognitive intuition.

IT was 90's that the government actually support the basic research in Korea. During the two decades, government accelerate the support to the basic research and therefore distinctive increase in the number of SCI papers. In 2008, Korea produced 35,569 SCI papers and it takes 2.42% of total SCI papers in the world. But, in spite of this quantitative growth, the qualitative level of Korean SCI papers is stagnant at 30s. To improve these phenomenon, this paper suggests recommendations about three aspects of research management-research support, evaluation, output diffusion. In the 21st century, the creative research output is more important than ever. Thus the government shout change its basic research supporting system from quantitative to qualitative aspect.

The performance of a PC cluster system is limited by the use of traditional communication protocols, such as TCP/IP because these protocols are accompanied with significant software overheads. To overcome the problem, systems based on user-level interface for message passing without intervention of kernel have been developed. The VIA(Virtual Interface Architecture) is one of the representative user-level interfaces which provide low latency and high bandwidth. In this paper, a VIA system is implemented on an SCI(Scalable Coherent Interface) network based PC cluster. The system provides both message-passing and shared-memory programming environments and shows the maximum bandwidth of 84MB/s and the latency of $8{\mu}s$. The system also shows better performance in comparison with other comparable computer systems in carrying out parallel benchmark programs.
