  • For Lift-type Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT), it is difficult to evaluate the performance through the scale-model wind tunnel tests, because of the scale effect relating to Reynolds number. However, it is beneficial to figure out the critical value of Reynolds number or minimum size of the Lift-type VAWT, when designing this type of micro wind turbine. Therefore, in this study, the performance of several scale-models of Lift-type VAWT (Reynolds number : $1.5{\times}10^4$ to $4.6{\times}10^4$) was investigated. As a result, the Reynolds number effect depends on the blade chord rather than the inlet velocity. In addition, there was a transition point of the Reynolds number to change the dominant driving force from Drag to Lift.

  • Common DNA fragments of the ${\beta}$-globin gene were observed from six races of the adult common carp: Hybrid-Yamato, Japanese wild type, Mirror, Suwa-Yamato, Scale German, and Saku-Yamato. Chromosomal DNAs isolated from the above six races were digested with restriction endonucleased EcoRI and PstI. The digested fragments were transferred onto nitrocellulose filter and hybridized with a probe of carp ${\beta}$-globin cDNA. Molecular sizes of the hybridized DNA fragments digested with EcoRI were 3.6Kb(Kilo base), 4.3Kb and 15Kb in Hybrid-Yamato, Japanese wild type, Mirror, Scale German and Saku-Yamato carp DNAs. In Scale German and Saku-Yamato carp DNAs, two and one more hybridized DNA fragments were observed, respectively. Molecular sizes of the hybridized DNA fragments digested with PstI were 2.2Kb, 6.5Kb, 7.8Kb and 9.2Kb in Hybrid-Yamato, 2.2Kb, 6.5Kb and 9.2Kb in Japanese wild type, 2.2Kb, 6.5Kb, 7.8Kb, and 13Kb in Mirror, 2,2Kb, 5,5Kb, 6.5Kb, 7.8Kb, 9.2Kb and13Kb in Scale German, and 2.2Kb, 5.5Kb, 6.5Kb, 9.2Kb and Saku-Yamato carp DNA. Therefore, depending on carps, three to six DNA fragments were hybridized with ${\beta}$-globin gene probe. Thus it indicated polymorphysm in the globin gene family of carp.

  • KH University has developed a large sky simulator which is its scale suits international standard. To verify the reliability of the sky simulator, the luminance of 36 points on the inner sky surface was measured and compared with the CIE standard overcast sky model. It was found that the sky simulator can reproduce the CIE standard overcast sky condition with 1.8[%] of mean difference. To identify the differences of daylighting performance, scale model measurements were taken under a real sky and in a sky simulator. Under overcast sky conditions, two kinds of scale model experiments were conducted by using the photometric sensor Li-cor. Firstly, a 1/20 scale model of a side-lit office room 4.9[m] wide, 7.2[m] long, and 2.6[m] high was created. Five measurement points were set at 1.2[m], 2.4[m], 3.6[m], 4.8[m], and 6.0[m] from the window. The mean difference of the light factor between the sky simulator and real sky was 7.1[%]. Secondly, a 1/30 scale model of a top-lit atrium 15[m] wide, 15[m] long, and 15[m] high was created. The measurement point was set at center of the room and the well indexes of the model were set in 5 types. The mean difference of the light factor between the sky simulator and real sky was 1.7[%]. This proved that the sky simulator is fully accurate and usable for daylighting research.

  • The performance of a foam fractionator to remove TAN, $NO_2,\;NO_3$, TSS, protein, and $PO_4-P$ at different superficial air velocities and foam overflow heights was evaluated in a lab-scale seawater recirculating system for culture of Korean rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli). The foam overflow rates increased with the increase of superficial air velocities, but decreased with the increase of foam overflow heights. Concentrations of all the water quality variables in the foam condensates increased with the increase of foam overflow height, but decreased with the increase of superficial air velocities. TSS, protein, and phosphate enrichment factors were within the range of 6.4-39.4, 1.6-7.3 and 1.2-3.9, respectively. Low values of TAN, $NO_2,\;and\;NO_3$ enrichment factors were obtained and they indicate that foam fractionation is rot an effective way to remove dissolved inorganic nitrogen. The calculated maximum daily removal values for TSS and protein were 10.9 and 1.4g, respectively.

  • To study the personality characteristics of alcoholic patients, they were screned with the MAST(Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test) and administered with the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) in the Dept. of Neuropsychiatry, Oriental Medical Hospital in Kyung Hee Univ. form March 1991 to June 1991. Patients admitted for alcoholism were examined and analyzed using the above tests and then studied by Sasang Constitutional approach. Results were as follows; 1. In the MAST score, the cases of obvious alcohol dependence was 53.3% and overall mean score was 28.1 point. 2. In the MMPI scale, the mean of the T-scores for 2(D)-4(Pd) profile was high, but it was not statistically significant. 3. The results obtained by multivariate cluster analysis of MMPI T-scores can be divided into 3 subgroups; 1) 9% showed the psychiatric tendency of F-6(Pa)-9(Ma)profile, 2) 44.2% showed no significant profile, 3)46.5% showed the neurotic tendency of 1(Hs)-2(D)-3(Hy)-4(Pd) profile. 4. Since 44.2% showed no significant profile on the MMPI, much more alcoholic patients were caused not by personality factors but by social tolerance, and also by increasing apportunities of drinking in Korean society. 5. When analyzed with Sasang Constituional approach, 1) for the Soyangin (少陽人): 6(Pa) scale was particularly high, 1(Hs) and 3(Hy) scales were low compared to others, 2) for the Taiumin(太陰人): 1(Hs)-2(D)-3(Hy)-4(Pd) neurotic profile was high, the K-scale and 4(Pd)scale were high compared to the Soyangin, 3) for the Soumin(少陰人): 1(Hs)-2(D)-3(Hy)-4(Pd) neurotic profile and 7(Pt) scale were also high.

  • Results of measurements of surface pressure and of velocity field made on a full-scale 6 m cube in natural wind are reported. Comparisons are made with results from boundary-layer wind-tunnel studies reported in the literature. Two flow angles are reported; flow normal to a face of the cube (the $0^{\circ}$ case) and flow at $45^{\circ}$. In most comparisons, the spread of wind-tunnel results of pressure measurements spans the full-scale measurements. The exception to this is for the $0^{\circ}$ case where the roof and side-wall pressures at full-scale are more negative, and as a result of this the leeward wall pressures are also lower. The cause of this difference is postulated to be a Reynolds Number scale effect that affects flow reattachment. Measurements of velocity in the vicinity of the cube have been used to define the mean reattachment point on the roof centre line for the $0^{\circ}$ case, and the ground level reattachment point behind the cube for both $0^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ flow. Comparisons are reported with another full-scale experiment and also with wind-tunnel experiments that indicate a possible dependency on turbulence levels in the approach flow.

  • This study was performed to develop a scale of maternal conflict based on already established scales and the literature review. The major purpose of this study was to develop a scale of which contains difficulties which mother can feel to rearing her child and can be applied to mothers at home or employed mothers. 68 items were developed. For content validity test, the items were examined by 7 experts panel with Likert 4 scale. The 39 items were selected as high validity from 86% of the experts. The item number of each area and the misunderstanding words were corrected by advices of experts. 10 mothers again examined 39 items in order to correct the misunderstanding words and the long sentences. For reliability and factor analysis of 39 items, 496 mothers participated. 34 items were chosen because 5 items that corrected item-total correlation coefficient were lower than 0.2 were excluded by the result of reliability analysis. Factor analysis was done with 34items. 6 factors were classified higher than eigen value 1.0, 28 items were chosen because 6 items that factor loadings were lower than 0.4 were excluded. These factors were named as employment and caring for child(6 items), child education(5 items), support system for caring for child(4 items), interaction with mother and child(4 items), view of maternal role(5 items) and me as human being(4 items). Reliability analysis was done with 28 items. 1 item(36 number of factor 1) was excluded because corrected item-total correlation coefficient were lower than 0.2. Therefore, 27 items were chosen. Maternal Conflict Scale was contained 27 items. The corrected item-total correlation coefficient of 27 items were ranged from .2345 to .5240 and Cronbach alpha coefficient of those was .8207 by the results of reliability analysis. It can be evaluated that this scale had a high validity and reliability because of passing through an objective process of test.
