Combining ability and heterosis for $F_{1}$ population obtained $5{\times}5$ half diallel cross in sesame were estimated for six quantitative characters. The parental varieties used for diallel cross were Yangbaek and Ansan of normal type, Suwon 177 and 195 of placenta adhesion type (PA) and SIG960320-5-1-1 of indehiscent type (ID). PA and ID type are shattering-resistant sesames and Yangbaek and Ansan are shattering sesames. The high heterosis of $F_{1}$ hybrids was expressed in the number of capsules per plant (NC), grain yield per plant (GY) and number of branches per plant (NB). Shattering.ate (SR) showed high positive heterosis toward increase of seeds shattering in all the combination of $F_{1}$ generation which was presumed because the characters connected with shattering resistance of seeds were governed by recessive gene. At the analysis of combining ability, highly significant general combining ability (GCA) effects were observed on all the characters in $F_{1}$ generation, significant specific combining ability (SCA) effects were observed on the NC, GY and SR. GCA variances were greater than SCA variance, which suggested that additive gene effects were greater than other nonadditive gene effects. Considering the estimated GCA effects, Suwon 195 (PA type) was found to be good parent for SR and GY, SIG960320-5-1-1 (ID type) was poor for GY and plant height. SCA effect for NC was great in Yangbaek/Suwon 195, SCA for GY was great in Ansan/SIG960320-5-1-1, and SCA for decrease of SR was great in Ansan/Suwon177.

In this work a scanning capacitance microscopy(SCaM) by stage driving is proposed and presented some of the experimental results.SCaM is a microscope which scans a surface of materials mechanically in two or two point five dimensions by a capacitance probe with a few tenth $\mu\textrm{m}$ ize tip, and display images of the surface shape or capacitive distribution. The present target of the SCaM is 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ resolution power which exceeds that of optical microscope. This will become a powerful tool for inspecting ULSI pattern etched by X-ray biological data etc. The experimental system is composed based on a VHD video disk which captures the capacitance changes of the video disk surface and converts it into video signal.

Degree of dominance for culm length, panicle numbers, flag leaf fwidth and panicle weight showed higher values than the others, and additive protions in variance components were more greater than heterosis protions for many characters. Average gene frequency showed low values for all characters, GCA were more greater than SCA, and the effects of GCA and SCA were differ from parents, crosses, generation and characters.

Spinocerebellar ataxia type 2 (SCA2) is characterized by progressive cerebellar ataxia and slow saccades. A 40-year-old woman presented with progressive gait disturbance and ataxia over 15 years. Neurologic examination revealed scanning speech, ataxia, and hyporeflexia. Brain CT showed diffuse atrophy of the cerebellum. Electronystagmography demonstrated slowed saccades with normal accuracy and delayed latency. The diagnosis of SCA2 was confirmed by the genetic test. Documentation of slow saccades may help differentiation among SCA subgroups.

This study proposed an SCA advice system. It is an ontology-based recommender that provides advice on appropriate computer curricula based on the behavior of high school students. The three computer curricula at Chiang Mai Rajabhat University include computer science (CS), information technology (IT), and web programming and security (WEB). This study aims to design the ontology framework for an SCA advice system. The system considers three core ontologies: student, computer-curriculum, and advice. After analyzing student behaviors, the behavior types of CS, IT, and WEB were determined to be SB-2, SB-1, and SB-5, respectively. All subjects in these three curricula were analyzed and grouped into seven groups. Their curricula were synthesized in terms of basic skills, basic knowledge, and characteristics. Finally, advice results can be obtained by consolidating the curriculum nature of the CS, IT, and WEB curricula.

In SCA, the core framework must include the domain parser to parse the domain profile and thus reconstructs the platform on the time including the starting of the platform, the initialization of the new radio, and etc. The domain profile is described in XML and it includes the characteristics about the software component or the hardware device in a platform. Elementarily, the core framework has to have within the domain profile parser in order to parse the domain profile. In this paper, in order to apply to the limited environment like the mobile terminal, we propose the method for reducing the size of the domain profile parser and for strengthening the independency of the XML parser vendor to have with the domain profile parser. Therefore, domain profile parser can be solve the problem like the overhead about the DOM tree creation due to the repetitive parsing of the domain profile, the compatibility degradation by the specific XML parser vender, the dependency about the domain profile technique, and etc.

Skin contact allergy (SCA) is not life-threatening, but a large number of people have been suffered from the reactions caused by various kinds of chemicals and products. Thus, in this study, radiation technology was employed to improve the traditional herb addition method on the SCA reduction of Rhus verniciflua sap (RVS). Rhus verniciflua has traditionally been used as an herbal medicine plant, but its urushiol derivatives are known as a major allergen for the SCA. The present study was commenced to assess the allergenicity of both gamma-irradiated and non-irradiated RVS by using guinea-pig maximization test (GPMT) in order to probe the mechanism of an SCA. In the acute dermal irritation assays, non-irradiated RVS caused erythema, but the irradiated RVS did not provoke any erythema on the abdominal skin of the guinea pigs. From the result of the GPMT, urushiols, the main chemical components of RVS, were identified as an extreme skin sensitizer, and the removal of urushiols by irradiation extremely reduced the erythema. These results suggest that radiation technology is a novel method to reduce SCA through the removal of urushiols of RVS.

The purpose of this study was to report one clinical case of spinocerebellar ataxia(SCA) type 1 improved by herbal medicine and oriental medical treatment. As a treatment, Yukmijihwang-tang(Liuweidihuangtang)-gamibang, acupuncture, and moxa were tried upon the patient for 21 days in order to relieve the symptoms. In terms of observing the changes of symptoms, the progress of patient's condition was evaluated periodically by using the Korean-mini mental state examination(K-MMSE), Modified Barthel Index(MBI), Functional Independence Measure(FIM). In accordance with the observation under K-MMSE, MBI, FIM, the patient's symptoms had gradually improved throughout the treatment. Therefore, this report suggests that Yukmijihwang-tang(Liuweidihuangtang)-gamibang, acupuncture and moxa were probably effective in the treatment of SCA type 1.

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) have the capacity for self-renewal and differentiation into a variety of cell types. They represent an attractive source of cells for gene and cell therapy. The purpose of this study is to direct the specific expression of the DsRed reporter gene in $Sca-1^+$ BMMSCs differentiated into a cardiomyogenic lineage. We constructed the prMLC-2v-DsRed vector expressing DsRed under the control of the 309 tp fragment of the rat MLC-2v 5'-flanking region. The specific expression of the DsRed reporter gene under the transcriptional control of the 309 bp fragment of the rat MLC-2v promoter was tested in 5-azacytidine healed-$Sca-1^+$ BMMSCs over 2 weeks after the prMLC-2v-DsRed transfection. The prMLC-2v-DsRed was specifically expressed in the $Sca-1^+$ BMMSCs with cardiomyogenic lineage differentiation and it demonstrates that the 309 bp sequences of the rat MLC-2v 5'-flanking region is sufficient to confer cardiac specific expression on a DsRed reporter gene. The cardiac-specific promoter-driven reporter vector provides an important tool for the study of stem cell differentiation and cell replacement therapy in ischemic cardiomyopathy.

General and specific combining ability effects of six bivoltine breeds of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) were evaluated for six quantitative characters through diallel method wherein parents, $F_{1}s$ and reciprocals are involved. The breeds $APS_{11}\;and\;APS_{2}$ were found to be the best general combiners for most of the traits studied. The high estimates of specific combining ability (sca) variance (${\sigma}^{2}s$) compared to general combining ability (gca) variance (${\sigma}^{2}g$) indicated the predominant role of non-additive gene action in the control of all the characters. Positive sca effects for majority of the traits were expressed by the combinations $APS_{13}{\times}APS_6,\;APS_{13}{\times}APS_2,\;APS_{11}{\times}APS_6\;and\;APS_5{\times}APS_2$ out of 15 crosses. Among the 15 reciprocal crosses studied, the combination $APS_8{\times}APS_{13}$ showed positive reciprocal effects for all the six traits. With both the parents $APS_5\;and\;APS_2$ being good general combiners the hybrid $APS_5{\times}APS_2$ showing high sca effects is recommended for commercial use.
