  • In this paper, we introduce a new class of rings, SB-rings. We establish various properties of this concept. These shows that, in several respects, SB-rings behave like rings satisfying unit 1-stable range. We will give necessary and sufficient conditions under which a semilocal ring is a SB-ring. Furthermore, we extend these results to exchange rings with all primitive factors artinian. For such rings, we observe that the concept of the SB-ring coincides with Goodearl-Menal condition. These also generalize the results of Huh et al., Yu and the author on rings generated by their units.

Voltage Step-down Characteristics of Modified Ring/Dot-type Piezoelectric Transformer using Pb[(Mn1/3Sb2/3)0.05Zr0.475]O3 Ceramics (Pb[(Mn1/3Sb2/3)0.05Zr0.475]O3세라믹스를 이용한 변형 Ring/Dot형 압전세라믹 변압기의 감압특성)

  • Voltage step-down characteristics in Ring/Dot type piezoelectric transformer were examined as a function of the area of input electrode when the area of output electrode is fixed. The effects of driving frequency and load resistance on the voltage step-down characteristics were also examined. Voltage gain was greatly dependent on the driving frequency and load resistance, and showed a maximum gain at resonance frequency of the step-down transformer. The frequency where the maximum cutout voltage appears increased about 0.2% as the load resistance increased from 10 to 150 Ω. As the area of input electrode increased, the voltage gain and the efficiency of the transformer increased. Frequency dependence of efficiency of the step-down transformer revealed a similar tendency with the voltage gain curves. The maximum efficiency remarked 94% when the input voltage and the load resistance were 20 Vpp and 120 Ω, respectively.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the occurrence of Soil borne wheat mosaic virus(SbWMV) in barley fields in Korea and to examine the host pathogenicity of SbWMV. By using the ELISA test, SbWMV was detected in the six regions : Suwon, Milyang, Jinju, Youngkwang, Iksan, and Chonju. SbWMV was isolated from the two strains, Albori strain from Jinju and Eunpamil strain from Milyang. SbWMV was collected from leaves showing mosaic, yellowing and necrosis stripes. SbWMV was inoculated mechanically on 1∼1.5 leaf stages with leaf-rubbing to identify the host pathogenicity of 36 Korean barley cultivars, a wheat cultivar, two rye cultivars, three Japanese barley cultivars and Chenopodium amaranticola. Viral sympoms of inoculated leaves appeared on moulted loaves about 4 to 6 weeks of inoculation. Baegdong and Tapgolbori, infected from Albori strain and Eunpamil strain infected from Samdobori showed much higher susceptibility than C. amaranticola and C. quinoa which showed ring spots and chlorotic spots respectively. Virus particles were observed by the electron microscope. They were rod-shapes, which are bipartite, of 142 nm or 281 nm in length with 20 nm diameter on infected leaves. Specific detection and identification of SbWMV was set up using the RT-PCR. PCR fragments of SbWMV(0.5kb) were obtained by using the designed primers for SbWMV RNA 2.

Effect of Size of Sintered Body on Resonant and Filter Characteristics in Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 Piezoelectric Ceramics (Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3계 소결체의 직경변화가 공진 및 필터특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of the size of sintered body on resonant and filter characteristics in Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 piezo-electric system were investigated. The attenuation characteristics of ring-dot type and ladder type filter were also investigated. As the size of sintered body was decreased, the resonant characteristic(Fr, Fa) and the center frequency(Fo) were increased. As the poling field was increased, the Kp and bandwidth were increased. The big difference between rign-dot type and ladder type was the sharpness of bandwidth, selectivity and the movement of center frequency.

  • The crystal stucture of hexapotassium undecahydrogen tetratungsto hexaantimonate(V) tetrahydrate has been determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data. Crystal data are as follows: $K_6H_{12}[Sb_6W_4O_{36}]{\cdot}4H_2O$, Fw = 2360.62, tetragonal, I$4_1$/a, a = 10.799(1) ${\AA}$, c = 35.244(5) ${\AA}$, V = 4110.1(7) ${\AA}^3$, Z = 4, $D_x$ = 3.82 g$cm^{-3}$, $\mu(MoK\alpha)$ = 160.15 $cm^{-1}$, T = 293 K, final R = 0.0356 for 2400($F_0 > 3\sigma(F_0))$ independent reflections. The $[H_{12}Sb_6W_4O_{36}]^{-6}$ polyanion independently consists of one tungsten, two antimony, and nine oxygen atoms and belongs to the $\bar4(S_4)$ point group. This polyanion is formed by two open octahedra five membered ring of Sb(3)$O_6-W(1)O_6-Sb(2)O_6-W(1)O_6-Sb(3)O_6$ which is connected at right angle. The Sb-W, Sb-O, and W-O bond distances range from 3.2304(9) to 3.2403(5) $\AA$, 1.745(8) to 2.334(6) $\AA$, and 1.914(7) to 2.039(7) $\AA$, respectively.

p38 MAPK Participates in Muscle-Specific RING Finger 1-Mediated Atrophy in Cast-Immobilized Rat Gastrocnemius Muscle

  • Skeletal muscle atrophy is a common phenomenon during the prolonged muscle disuse caused by cast immobilization, extended aging states, bed rest, space flight, or other factors. However, the cellular mechanisms of the atrophic process are poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the involvement of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) in the expression of muscle-specific RING finger 1 (MuRF1) during atrophy of the rat gastrocnemius muscle. Histological analysis revealed that cast immobilization induced the atrophy of the gastrocnemius muscle, with diminution of muscle weight and cross-sectional area after 14 days. Cast immobilization significantly elevated the expression of MuRF1 and the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK. The starvation of L6 rat skeletal myoblasts under serum-free conditions induced the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK and the characteristics typical of cast-immobilized gastrocnemius muscle. The expression of MuRF1 was also elevated in serum-starved L6 myoblasts, but was significantly attenuated by SB203580, an inhibitor of p38 MAPK. Changes in the sizes of L6 myoblasts in response to starvation were also reversed by their transfection with MuRF1 small interfering RNA or treatment with SB203580. From these results, we suggest that the expression of MuRF1 in cast-immobilized atrophy is regulated by p38 MAPK in rat gastrocnemius muscles.

  • 나선 은하의 60%의 은하들은 그 중심에 막대를 가지고 있다고 알려져 있다. 그리고 막대 은하들 중 다시 30%의 은하들이 그 중심에 두 번째 막대를 가지고 있다는 보고들이 있었다. 우리는 SDSS/DR7을 기반으로 z < 0.01 안에 은하들을 눈으로 분류한 Ann et al. (2015) 카탈로그 중 Lee et al. (2018, submitted)에서 사용된 Mr = -15.2 보다 밝고, $60^{\circ}$이하로 기울어진 막대 은하 553개를 이용하여 막대 안에 있는 두 번째 막대를 찾고자 했다. 우리는 ellipse fitting profile을 조사하여 58개의 은하들에서 그 중심에 기존 막대의 형태를 따르지 않고 장축이 어긋나 있으며, 타원율에 변화를 보이는 두 번째 막대의 흔적을 찾았다. 그 중 9개의 은하에서 색지도, 등광도 그리고 unsharp image 등에서 두 번째 막대를 확인했다. 이것은 이전의 30개 내외의 은하들를 대상으로 했던 연구들에서 확인된 것에 비해 매우 적은 비율이라 할 수 있다. 9개의 두 번째 막대들 중 5개는 강한 막대 (SB)안에서 발달해 있고, 4개는 약한 막대 (SAB) 안에 발달해 있어, 수치적으로는 두 번째 막대의 강한 막대와 약한 막대 사이의 선호도 차이는 없어 보인다. 하지만, 약한 막대 안에 발달해 있는 두 번째 막대들은 막대와 서로 다른 방향의 타원 구조만 보이는 반면, 강한 막대 안에 발달해 있는 두번째 막대들은 nuclear ring, nuclear arm등과 함께 더욱 발달된 모습을 보인다. 또한 두 번째 막대를 가지고 있는 8개의 은하 모두에서 주 막대를 따라 중심부로 길게 늘어서 먼지 띠가 뚜렷하게 보이고, 허블 분류에서는 Sab(T=3), Sb (T=4)에 주로 분포해있다.

Viscosity Sensor Using Piezoelectric Ceramic Resonators (압전 세라믹 공진자를 이용한 점도 센서)

  • A bolt-clamped ultrasonic viscometer was designed and fabricated using a pair of ring-shaped piezoelectric ceramic resonators. For its compactness and low operation frequencies, simulation of piezoelectric resonators was carried out using an ATILA program. Ring-shaped resonators using $0.05Pb(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})O_3-0.95Pb(Zr_{0.475}Ti_{0.525})O_3$ ceramics were prepared by a conventional ceramic processing, which were then clamped with a pair of metal caps. The fabricated sensor module with a small volume of less than 1 $cm^3$ and an operation frequency as low as 26.5 kHz showed a good relationship between its quality factor and the viscosity of oil.

  • Sb doped SnO2(ATO:Antinomy doped Tin Oxide) thin films were prepared by a DC magnetron spttuering method using oxide target and the deposition characteristics were investigated. The experimental conditions are as follows :Ar flow rate : 100 sccm oxygen flow rates ; 0-100 sccm deposition temperature ; 250 -40$0^{\circ}C$ DC sputter powder ; 150~550 W and sputtering pressure ; ; 2~7 mTorr. Deposition rate greatly depends not on the deposition temperature but on the reaction pressure oxygen flow rate and sputter power,. when the sputter powder is low ATO thin films with (110) preferred orientation are deposited. And when the sputter power is high (110) prefered orientation appeares with decreasing of oxygen flow rate and increasing of suputte-ring pressure.

  • Ring/dot-type step-down piezoelectric transformer was manufactured by using Pb[(Mn$\sub$1/3/Sb$\sub$2/3)$\sub$0.05/Zr$\sub$0.475/Ti$\sub$0.475/]O$_3$ ceramics, which have excellent high-power piezoelectric properties. The characteristics of step-down piezoelectric transformer as a function of load resistance at output terminal was examined. Voltage gain was greatly dependent on drive frequency and load resistance, and showed maximum voltage gain at the resonance frequency. The output voltage was linearly increased as the input voltage increased. Voltage gain of the step-down piezoelectric transformer with respect to input voltage was very stable when the load resistance was in the range of 50-500 $\Omega$ .
