Sense and Respond Logistics(SARL) is a transformational, network-centric, knowledge-driven concept that enables joint effects-based operations and provides precise, agile support. Sense and respond logistics relies upon highly adaptive, self-synchronizing, and dynamic physical and functional processes. It predicts, anticipates, and coordinates actions that provide competitive advantage across the full range of military operations. In this research paper, we considered the essential prerequisite to introduce the appropriate SARL concept for the future warfare environment into the military logistics support system and also provide the conceptual alternatives to actualize the introduction of SARL.

The aim of this study is to suggest the direction of implementing the new defense logistics systems for the network centric warfare in the future. For this purpose, we reviewed SARL(Sense and Response Logistics) which receives great attention from the U.S. Department of Defence as the future logistic concept of network centric warfare, coupled with recent development in information technologies which give technical revolution in the future logistics information system. Also, we analyzed problems underlying logistics information system currently used in the Korean Armed Forces. Finally, we suggested the direction of implementing the new logistics information system for the network centric warfare, expecting to reduce total logistics cost, speed up logistics velocity, and enhance the efficiency of the combat support.
HYPOLED is a collaborative European project that commenced in 2008. It is targeted toward "High-Performance OLED-Microdisplays for Mobile Multimedia HMD and Projection Applications". In this paper, we describe the initial objectives and present draft specifications for devices, the personal display system and micro-projection unit. Initial results are shown and discussed.
In this study a polymer concrete, made up of natural aggregates and an orthophthalic polyester binder, reinforced with natural Alfa fibers has been studied. The results of flexural testing of unreinforced polymer concrete with different rates of charges (marble) showed that the concrete with 20% of marble is stronger and more rigid compared to other grades. Hence, a rate of 20% of marble powder is selected as the optimal value in the development of polymer concrete reinforced Alfa fibers. The fracture results of reinforced polymer concrete with 1 and 2 wt% of chopped untreated or treated Alfa fibers showed that treated Alfa (5% NaOH) fiber reinforced polymer concrete has higher fracture properties than other composites. We believe that this type of concrete provides a very promising alternative for the building industry seeking to achieve the objectives of sustainable development.

This paper presents a numerical simulation study of the transient behavior of a $2{\times}340MW$ pump-turbine power plant, where the results show an unstable behavior at runaway. First, the modeling of hydraulic components based on equivalent schemes is presented. Then, the 2 pump-turbine test case is presented. The transient behavior of the power plant is simulated for a case of emergency shutdown with servomotor failure on Unit 1. Unstable operation at runaway with a period of 15 seconds is properly simulated using a 1-dimensional approach. The simulation results points out a switch after 200 seconds of the unstable behavior between a period of oscillations initially of 15 seconds to a period of oscillation of 2.16 seconds corresponding to the hydraulic circuit first natural period. The pressure fluctuations related to both the rigid and elastic water column mode are presented for oscillation mode characterization. This phenomenon is described as a switch between a rigid and an elastic water column oscillation mode. The influence of the rotating inertia on the switch phenomenon is investigated through a parametric study.

Objective: The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation with the docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)-rich microalgae, Aurantiochytrium limacinum (AURA) on pig performance, carcass traits, and the fatty acid composition of pork Longissimus lumborum (LL) and backfat. Methods: A total of 144 Pig Improvement Company (PIC)${\times}$Goland finishing pigs (72 females and 72 castrated males) of mean weight 117.1 (${\pm}13.1$) kg were blocked by sex and body weight and provided with 0% or 1% AURA in isonutritive and isocaloric diets. A total of 24 pens provided 12 replicates per treatment. Animals were weighed on day 0 and 28 with feed and water intake recorded per pen. After 31 days supplementation (28 days of study and 3 days until the slaughtering date) three animals per pen (n = 72) were slaughtered and the LL and backfat thickness, lean meat content and dressing percentage were recorded for the carcasses. The fatty acid (FA) profile of the LL and backfat was established by direct FA methyl ester synthesis. Results: No differences were observed for any performance parameters or carcass traits. Supplementation with AURA resulted in significant changes to the FA profiles of both the LL and backfat with male and female pigs responding differently to supplementation in terms of particular FAs. Overall, pork LL samples had significantly higher eicosapentaenoic acid (p<0.001) and DHA concentrations (p<0.001), and higher omega-3 (n-3) FAs (p<0.001), as well as an increased omega3:omega6 (n-3:n-6) ratio (p = 0.001). For backfat, supplementation resulted in significantly higher amounts of DHA (p<0.001) and n-3 FAs (p<0.001). Conclusion: These results indicate that dietary supplementation with 1% AURA over a 31 day period can increase the FA composition of pork LL and backfat, specifically the DHA, with no major impact on growth performance and carcass traits.

Typically, a wedge is involved to generate effectively high inspection angle in pipe weld inspection using phased array ultrasonic technique. But the usage of this wedge for weld or access limited area can cause coverage limitation for the examination volume because of the wedge front length. Therefore, the shear wave phased array probe which can generate high inspection angle without wedge is essentially necessary. In this paper, the shear wave phased array ultrasonic probe which can generate high inspection angle designed by modeling and manufactured from the modelling result. And this shear wave probe tested whether it can detect and sizing for EDM test block that contains various depth. As results, the experimental results show that the designed shear wave phased array probe can detect and size with reliable accuracy. Therefore if this phased array probe apply in field inspection, it is expected that it show more reliable inspection result for plant structure having access limitation.

Hydroelectric power plants are known for their ability to cover variations of the consumption in electrical power networks. In order to follow this changing demand, hydraulic machines are subject to off-design operation. In that case, the swirling flow leaving the runner of a Francis turbine may act under given conditions as an excitation source for the whole hydraulic system. In high load operating conditions, vortex rope behaves as an internal energy source which leads to the self excitation of the system. The aim of this paper is to identify the influence of the full load excitation source location with respect to the eigenmodes shapes on the system stability. For this, a new eigenanalysis tool, based on eigenvalues and eigenvectors computation of the nonlinear set of differential equations in SIMSEN, has been developed. First the modal analysis method and linearization of the set of the nonlinear differential equations are fully described. Then, nonlinear hydro-acoustic models of hydraulic components based on electrical equivalent schemes are presented and linearized. Finally, a hydro-acoustic SIMSEN model of a simple hydraulic power plant, is used to apply the modal analysis and to show the influence of the turbine location on system stability. Through this case study, it brings out that modeling of the pipe viscoelastic damping is decisive to find out stability limits and unstable eigenfrequencies.

The swirling flow developing in Francis turbine draft tube under part load operation leads to pressure fluctuations usually in the range of 0.2 to 0.4 times the runner rotational frequency resulting from the so-called vortex breakdown. For low cavitation number, the flow features a cavitation vortex rope animated with precession motion. Under given conditions, these pressure fluctuations may lead to undesirable pressure fluctuations in the entire hydraulic system and also produce active power oscillations. For the upper part load range, between 0.7 and 0.85 times the best efficiency discharge, pressure fluctuations may appear in a higher frequency range of 2 to 4 times the runner rotational speed and feature modulations with vortex rope precession. It has been pointed out that for this particular operating point, the vortex rope features elliptical cross section and is animated of a self-rotation. This paper presents an experimental investigation focusing on this peculiar phenomenon, defined as the upper part load vortex rope. The experimental investigation is carried out on a high specific speed Francis turbine scale model installed on a test rig of the EPFL Laboratory for Hydraulic Machines. The selected operating point corresponds to a discharge of 0.83 times the best efficiency discharge. Observations of the cavitation vortex carried out with high speed camera have been recorded and synchronized with pressure fluctuations measurements at the draft tube cone. First, the vortex rope self rotation frequency is evidenced and the related frequency is deduced. Then, the influence of the sigma cavitation number on vortex rope shape and pressure fluctuations is presented. The waterfall diagram of the pressure fluctuations evidences resonance effects with the hydraulic circuit. The influence of outlet bubble cavitation and air injection is also investigated for low cavitation number. The time evolution of the vortex rope volume is compared with pressure fluctuations time evolution using image processing. Finally, the influence of the Froude number on the vortex rope shape and the associated pressure fluctuations is analyzed by varying the rotational speed.

The safety of shore structure including the sea dipe is largely affected by typhoon. Accordingly it is desirable to analize the typhoon and determine the wind direction and velocity for use in planning and design of the structure. This method was adopted for the design of the Yong San Gang Estuary Dam. A comparative study of the results of typhoon analysis with the meteorological data obtained through actual observation is summarized as follows; (1) 62% of the typhoons occur during May to June in a year, and 62% of the typhoons which have an influence on the Korean peninsula, especially the proposed estuary dam fsite, proceed eastward through the zone in lat. 36$^{\circ}$-37$^{\circ}$N. Such typhoons occur two to three times a year on the average. (2) Data on typhoon "SARL" were used as a model case in designing the estuary dam, where it was proved that a southwesterly wind had a maximum velocity of 30m/sec in case r=150km, ${\alpha}$=120$^{\circ}$. Within the range of 22$^{\circ}$30'on the right and left side of the fetch line of the estuary dam, the wind direction varied SSW\longrightarrowSW\longrightarrowWSW, and the wind velocity varied 29m/sec\longrightarrow30m/sec\longrightarrow125m/sec. Such phenomemum lasted for five hours. (3) An analysis of data obtained during 44 years at Mok Po Meteorological Station shows that a wind with a velocity of some 25m/sec occurred twelve times in the S-direction and two times in the SW-direction, while that with a velocity of 30m/sec occurred three times in the S-direction, three times in the SSW-direction and one time in the SW-direction. The wind which had an influence on the estuary dam had a direction of SSW\longrightarrowSW\longrightarrowWSW and a velocity of min. 30m/sec. Actually, a wind with a max. velocity of 31.3m/sec occurred in the SSW-direction on March 15 and 16, 1956 where the mean velocity during two hours was 28m/sec and that during four hours was 24.6m/sec. (4) The data obtained through actual observation show that when the velocity is low, the wind with a fixed direction lasts long, and when the velocity is high, it is short-lived. It is difficult to determine the velocity of a wind which blows in a fixed direction for consecutive two or four hours. Therefore, the values obtained through typhoon analysis are larger that those obtained through actual observation, and hence, it is resonable to use the analyzed valuse for design of the estuary dam and shore structures. (5) The greatest effect was had on the estuary dam when typhoon was proceeding at a velocity of 29.71m/sec in the direction of ${\alpha}$=120$^{\circ}$(SW) at a point of R=150km from the center of the typhoon.
