  • This paper deals with investigating experimentally the effects of PWHT on the weld quality such as strength, toughness, hardness and micro-structure of the welded joints in friction welding of torsion bar material SUP9A bar to bar. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1) It was certified that the condition of the post-weld heat treatment(PWHT) for the friction welded joints was very satisfactory because both strength and toughness of the joints were improved as almost same as those of the base metal or better by the PWHT. 2) The peak of hardness distribution of the friction welded joints can be eliminated by PWHT, resulting in being almost equalized at the weld interface, the HAZ(heat affected zone) and the base metal. 3) The micro-structure of the base meta., HAZ and weld interface(WI) of friction welded joints welded at the optimum welding condition consists of the same sorbite structure obtained by PWHT and fined sorbite at WI, resulting in increasing toughness as well as strength, and no micro structural defect has been found at the friction welded zone.

  • This paper is studying the selective separation of methane and carbon dioxide which are the main ingredients of biogas. Adsorption performance of molecular sieve 13x for carbon dioxide seems to be reasonable. In this experiments carbon dioxide contains about 3~5 ppm of methane and it is impossible to obtain high purity carbon dioxide. Applying the low temperature technique, it is possible to separate methane and carbon dioxide from bio gas. PRO II simulation shows results a small change of liquefaction temperatures and no difference with the used thermodynamic models. Applying low temperature technique, It is possible to separate carbon dioxide and methane from biogas.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of reduced plantar cutaneous sensation on gait kinematics during walking with and without CAI. Method: A total of 20 subjects involved in this study and ten healthy subjects and 10 CAI subjects participated underwent ice-immersion of the plantar aspect of the feet before walking test in this study. The gait kinematics were measured before and after ice-immersion. Results: We observed a before ice-immersion on plantar cutaneous sensation, CAI subject were found to reduced ankle dorsiflexion, knee external rotation, hip adduction, and internal rotation compared to control subject. After ice-immersion, CAI subjects were found to reduce knee external rotation, hip adduction. However, no significant ankle joint kinematics. Conclusion: While walking, gait pattern differences were perceived between groups with and without plantar cutaneous sensation. The results of the study may explain the abductions in the hip angle movements in CAI patients at initial contact compared to healthy subjects in the control group when plantar cutaneous sensation was reduced. A change in proximal joint kinematics may be a conservative strategy to promote normal gait patterns in CAI patients.

  • The objective of this study was to obtain acute (single) oral dose toxicity information on Lactobacillus-fermented Araliae Continentalis Radix aqueous extracts (fACR) in female and male ICR mice, as compared with Araliae Continentalis Radix aqueous extracts (ACR). After administering a single oral dose of fACR, no treatment-related mortalities were observed within 14 days after the end of treatment up to 2,000 mg/kg, the maximum dosage for rodents of both sexes; moreover, no fACR treatment-related changes in the body and organ weights, clinical signs, necropsy, and histopathological findings were detected in this experiment. In addition, no ACR 2,000 mg/kg treatment-related mortalities, clinical signs, body and organ weights, or gross and histopathological findings were observed, as compared with equal genders of vehicle control. The results obtained in this study suggest that fACR is non-toxic in mice and is, therefore, likely to be safe for clinical use. The LD50 and approximate LD in female mice and male mice, respectively, were considered after a single oral dose of fACR over 2,000 mg/kg, the maximum dosage for rodents. In addition, no specific targets or clinical signs were detected in the present study. ACR 2,000 mg/kg-treated mice also did not show any treatment-related mortalities, clinical signs, changes to body and organ weights, or gross and histopathological findings, as compared with equal genders of vehicle control.

  • Two methods, IDMS (Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry) and controlled potential coulometry are compared by the determination of Pu for the NBL, CRM No.122, $PuO_2$. The recovery of Pu was found to be $1.002176{\pm}0.000452$ within the relative standard deviation of 0.045% (95% conf. level) although a small size of sample ($0.9{\mu}g$-Pu) was used in IDMS. The recovery using controlled potential coulometry were obtained in the range of 0.9923~0.9960. The analytical results of IDMS and controlled potential coulometry were good agreement within 0.6~1%. Base on these experiment results, The plutonium in HANARO irradiated fuel rod that separated portion of top, middle, and bottom were determined. The measured values of Pu are 1.155 mg, 2.483 mg and 1.920 mg in one gram of sample(fuel+clad), respectively.

  • The studies aimed to distinguish between initial (ionic or osmotic) effects of salinisation on growth and the longer-term consequences of excessive salt accumulation. Tall and dwarf varieties of rice were used to provide different growth rates. There was no significant effect upon the day-to-day pattern of growth, upon the ultimate length of leaves that were developing at the time of, or shortly after, salinisation with 50 mM NaCl. Leaves that developed after prolonged exposure of the plants to salinity were shorter. Addition of NaCl, KCl or mannitol to the root medium brought about a cessation of leaf elongation within one minute. Growth at a reduced rate restarted abruptly after a lag period that depended upon the external concentration. Elongation rate recovered to its original value within 24 hours after exposure to 50 mM NaCl, though not at higher concentrations. Addition of NaCl at concentrations up to 100 mM elicited no short-term effect upon photsynthetic gas exchange. No change in turgor pressure was detectable in the growing zone with the resolution of the miniature pressure probe used (about 70 kPa). It is concluded that the initial growth reduction in rice caused by salinisation is due to a limitation of water supply. A clear distinction is made between the initial effects of salt which are recoverable, and the long-term effects which result from the accumulation of salt within expanded leaves.
