The electrical power system (EPS) of Korean satellites in low-earth-orbit is designed to achieve energy balance based on a one-orbit mission scenario. This means that the battery has to be fully charged at the end of a one-orbit mission. To provide the maximum solar array (SA) power generation, the peak power tracking (PPT) method has been developed for a spacecraft power system. The PPT is operated by a software algorithm, which tracks the peak power of the SA and ensures the battery is fully charged in one orbit. The EPS should be designed to avoid the stress of electronics in order to handle the main bus power from the SA power. This paper summarizes the results of energy balance to achieve optimal power sizing and the actual trend analysis of EPS performance in orbit. It describes the results of required power for the satellite operation in the worst power conditions at the end-of-life, the methods and input data used in the energy balance, and the case study of energy balance analyses for the normal operation in orbit. Both 10:35 AM and 10:50 AM crossing times are considered, so the power performance in each case is analyzed with the satellite roll maneuver according to the payload operation concept. In addition, the data transmission to the Korea Ground Station during eclipse is investigated at the local-time-ascending-node of 11:00 AM to assess the greatest battery depth-of-discharge in normal operation.

Mobile node has to register its current location to Home Agent when it moves to another network while away from home. However, the registration procedure cannot be completed successfully when Home Agent is protected by the VPN gateway which guards MN's home network and discards the unauthorized packets incoming from outside as a lack of security association(SA) between the Care-of address and security policy of the home network so that the binding registration message without SA is discarded smoothly by the VPN gateway. This paper presents the authentication and key exchange scheme using the AAA infrastructure for a user in Internet to access the home network behind the VPN gateway. By defining the role of authentication and tunnel processing for each agent or relay entity, this paper presents the procedure to register the current location to its Home Agent with secure manner. Performance result shows cost improvement up to 40% comparing with existing scheme in terms of the packet loss cost, the property of mobility and traffic.
This paper presents an algorithm for multichannel slotted-ring topology medium access protocol (MAC) using in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks. In multichannel ring, there are two main previously proposed architectures: Tunable Transmitter - Fixed Receiver (TTFR) and Fixed Transmitter - Tunable Receivers (FTTR). With TTFR, nodes can only receive packets on a fixed wavelength and can send packets on any wavelengths related to destination of packets. Disadvantage of this architecture is required as many wavelengths as there are nodes in the network. This is clearly a scalability limitation. In contrast, FTTR architecture has advantage that the number of nodes can be much larger than the number of wavelength. Source nodes send packet on a fixed channel (or wavelength) and destination nodes can received packets on any wavelength. If there are fewer wavelengths than there are nodes in the network, the nodes will also have to share all the wavelengths available for transmission. However the fixed wavelength approach of TTFR and FTTR bring low network utilization. Because source node with waiting data have to wait for an incoming empty slot on corresponding wavelength. Therefore this paper presents Tunable Transmitter - Tunable Receiver (TTTR) approach, in which the transmitting node can send a packet over any wavelengths and the receiving node can receive a packet from any wavelengths. Moreover, the self-similar distributed input traffic is used for evaluation of the performance of the proposed algorithm. The self-similar traffic performs better performance over long duration than short duration of the Poison distribution. In order to increase bandwidth efficiency, the Destination Stripping approach is used to mark the slot which has already reached the desired destination as an empty slot immediately at the destination node, so the slot does not need to go back to the source node to be marked as an empty slot as in the Source Stripping approach. MATLAB simulator is used to evaluate performance of FTTR, TTFR, and TTTR over 4 and 16 nodes ring network. From the simulation result, it is clear that the proposed algorithm overcomes higher network utilization and average throughput per node, and reduces the average queuing delay. With future works, mathematical analysis of those algorithms will be the main research topic.
We report our experience with two cases of situs inversus totalis, both involving patients diagnosed with gastric cancer. These were a 52-year-old male with a preoperative staging of cT1bN0M0 and a 68-year-old male with a staging of cT2N0M0, both of whom underwent surgery. The former was found to have vascular anomalies in the preoperative computed tomography, so we performed a computed tomography angiography with three-dimensional reconstruction. Laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy with Billroth I anastomosis was performed with D1+ lymph node dissection, and a small laparotomy was made for extracorporeal anastomosis. In contrast, the latter case showed no vascular anomalies in the preoperative computed tomography, and totally laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with delta anastomosis was performed with D1+ lymph node dissection. There were no intraoperative problems in either patient and they were discharged without postoperative complications. Histopathological examination revealed a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma (pT2N0M0) and a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma (pT1aN0M0), respectively.
This paper presents a constrained-based routing (CBR) algorithm called, Dynamic Possible Path per Link (D-PPL) routing algorithm, for MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. In MPLS on-line routing, future traffics are unknown and network resource is limited. Therefore many routing algorithms such as Minimum Hop Algorithm (MHA), Widest Shortest Path (WSP), Dynamic Link Weight (DLW), Minimum Interference Routing Algorithm (MIRA), Profiled-Based Routing (PBR), Possible Path per Link (PPL) and Residual bandwidth integrated - Possible Path per Link (R-PPL) are proposed in order to improve network throughput and reduce rejection probability. MIRA is the first algorithm that introduces interference level avoidance between source-destination node pairs by integrating topology information or address of source-destination node pairs into the routing calculation. From its results, MIRA improves lower rejection probability performance. Nevertheless, MIRA suffer from its high routing complexity which could be considered as NP-Complete problem. In PBR, complexity of on-line routing is reduced comparing to those of MIRA, because link weights are off-line calculated by statistical profile of history traffics. However, because of dynamic of traffic nature, PBR maybe unsuitable for MPLS on-line routing. Also, both PPL and R-PPL routing algorithm we formerly proposed, are algorithms that achieve reduction of interference level among source-destination node pairs, rejection probability and routing complexity. Again, those previously proposed algorithms do not take into account the dynamic nature of traffic load. In fact, future traffics are unknown, but, amount of previous traffic over link can be measured. Therefore, this is the motivation of our proposed algorithm, the D-PPL. The D-PPL algorithm is improved based on the R-PPL routing algorithm by integrating traffic-per-link parameters. The parameters are periodically updated and are dynamically changed depended on current incoming traffic. The D-PPL tries to reserve residual bandwidth to service future request by avoid routing through those high traffic-per-link parameters. We have developed extensive MATLAB simulator to evaluate performance of the D-PPL. From simulation results, the D-PPL improves performance of MPLS on-line routing in terms of rejection probability and total throughput.
Detection of micrometastasis in sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) is a very useful tool for appropriate assessment of the clinical stage of disease in breast cancer patients. Early identification of clinically relevant disease could lead to early treatment or staging approaches for breast cancer patient. Micrometastases in SLNs of women with invasive breast cancer are of great significance in this context. In this study we examined SLN biopsies considered to have small numbers of cancerous cells by real time RT-PCR. All of the samples underwent immunohistochemical staining for cytokeratin for confirmation of the presence or absence of micrometastases. BUB1b expression assay of selected patients with and without metastasis showed overexpression in the former, but not in normal breast and lymph node tissue. Our results may be taken into account in the discussion about the merits of routine use of molecular assessment in pathogenetic studies of SLNs.
The voltage clamp studies were undertaken to elucidate the properties of the slow inward current, $i_{si}$, in the small preparations of the rabbit sinoatrial node. The slow inward current, $i_{si}$, which is known to be responsible for the late one-third of pacemaker potential and whole range of upstroke phase of action potential was analysed with the effects of isoprenaline, cobalt, ouabain and higenamine. The results obtained are as follows; 1) Voltage of SA node preparation was held at zero current level, usually-40mV and the slow inward current, $i_{si}$, was activated by depolarizing clamp pulses. Peak values of $i_{si}$, in steady state were at $-10{\pm}0mV$ in most preparations. 2) Isoprenaline, ${\beta}-agonist$ increased $i_{si}$ and no shift was noticed in voltage-dependency. 3) Cobalt ion in the concentration of 1 mM abolished is, in entire range of membrane potential and the difference of two current levels before and after $Co^{2+}$ treatment could be considered as pure $i_{si}$ magnitude. 4) In the therapeutic concentration of ouabain $(5{\times}10^{-8}M)$ slightly increased is, and reduced the time to reach the peak value. 5) Higenamine $(10^{-6}M)$ changed the configurations of action potential (i. e. rapid upstroke phase and notch in the spike) and increase spontaneous rate. It also increased is, and the effect of higenamine was blocked ${\beta}-blocker$, propranolol $(10^{-6}M)$.
Transient inward current (TI) was studied by the two micro-electrode voltage clamp technique in the sinoatrial node of the rabbit. The author confirmed that in $10^{-6}$ M ouabain TI was found in the SA node and investigated the effects of ions, $(Na^+,\;K^+,\;Ca^{2+})$, $\beta-agonist$ (isoprenaline), local anesthetics (quinidine, lidocaine) and Ca-blockers ($Co^{2+}$, verapamil, diltiazem) on the TI recorded during depolarizing voltage clamp pulses to -40 and -20 mV. The results obtained were as follows ; 1) $10^{-6}M$ ouabain increased the frequency of sinus action potential and decreased the amplitude, especially overshoot of action potential. TI was induced by the depolarizing voltage clamp Pulses and the magnitude of the slow inward current (isi) decreased and the time course was slowed by the same depolarizing pulses. 2) 30% $Na^{+}$ and 24mM $K^+$ decreased by $10^{-6}M$ ouabain and 6 mM $Ca^{2+}$ and $10^{-7}M$ isoprenaline increased TI, $i_{si}$ and current oscillations. 3) Quinidine $(5\times10^{-7}M)$ reduced TI and $i_{si}$ but lidocaine $(10^6\;-10^5M)$ didn't reduced or increase TI. Current oscillations increased and isi decreased by lidocaine. 4) Ca-blockers decreased the amplitude and the frequency of sinus action potential. TI and $i_{si}$ decreased significantly but were not abolished completely at the concentrations used in this experiment. Verapamil and diltiazem had inhibitory action on TI in $2\times10^{-7}M$ concentration and showed very slow recovery after wasting out with normal Tyrode solution.

This paper addresses the development and design of the HAUSAT-l (Hankuk Aviation University SA'Tellite-D communication subsystem, which is a next generation picosatellite, developed by SSRL (Space System Research Lab.) of Hankuk Aviation University. The communication subsystem generally consumes the majority of power and volume for picosatellites, and thus its design is critical to the overall satellite and mission plans. The HAUSAT-l designs are implemented by using the 145.84 MHz for uplink and 435.84 MHz for downlink frequency bands. The simulation and test results of the homemade radio and the TNC (Terminal Node Controller) integrated on the HAUSAT - I , a picosatellite scheduled to launch on September 2004 by Russian launch vehicle "Dnepr", are presented for EM, QM and FM, respectively.

This paper describes, firstly, on analytical method of computing the eigenvalues of vertical vibration of ships, taking into account for the distribution of hull weight including added mass and the effect of shear deflection and rotary inertia. The frequency equation is solved by Galerkins method into form of numerical integration. Applying the above described equation, model experiment of vertical vibration was carried out in order to varify the validity of the analytical method of vertical vibration. The model, which was made of acrylite plate, was ship-shaped wall-sided vessel with bulkheads, deck openings, and fore and after peak tank at both ends. The results of experiments carried out both in air and on water showed that the observed natural frequencies and the observed patterns of natural modes of vibration were in good agreement with analytically calculated values for 2,3, and 4-node vibration.
