Degradation of TPHs, TCE, PCE, and BTEX Compounds for NAPLs Contaminated Marine Sediments Using In-Situ Air Sparging Combined with Vapor Extraction (증기추출법과 결합된 공기주입법을 이용한 비수용성액체 해양퇴적물의 TPHs, TCE, PCE 및 BTEX 정화)

  • This study was carried out in order to determine the remediation of total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPHs), trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) compounds for non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) using in-situ air sparging (IAS) / vapor extraction (VE) with the marine sediments of Mandol, Hajeon, Sangam and Busan, South Korea. Surface sediment of Mandol area had sand characteristics (average particle size, 1.789 ${\Phi}$), and sandy silt characteristics (average particle size, 5.503 ${\Phi}$), respectively. Sangam surface sediment had silt characteristics (average particle size, 5.835 ${\Phi}$). Sediment characteristics before experiment in the Busan area showed clay characteristics (average particle size, 8.528 ${\Phi}$). TPHs level in the B1 column of Mandol, Hajeon, Sangam, and Busan sediments were 2,459, 6,712, 4,348, and 14,279 ppm. B2 (3 L/min) to B5 (5 L/min) columns reduced 99.5% to 100.0% of TCE and 93.2% to 100.0% of PCE. Removal rates of TCE, PCE, and BTEX are closely correlated (0.90-0.99) with particle sizes and organic carbon concentrations. However, TPHs (0.76) and benzene (0.71) showed the poorer but moderate correlations with the same parameters.

  • Two Gram positive bacterial strains, designated strain GC-1 and GC-4, were isolated from coastal seawater near Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea. The two strains were identified as members of the genus Bacillus, based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing and data for physiological characteristics analyses. A subtle difference in physiological and genotypical characteristics has led us to designate the strains GC-1 and GC-4. The strain GC-1 showed a 99.91% similarity in 16S rRNA gene sequencing with B. tequiliensis and B. subtilis subsp. inaquosorum and the strain GC-4 showed a 100% similarity in 16S rRNA gene sequencing with those of B. altitudinis, B. stratosphericus, and B. aerophilus. However, both strains exhibited different physiological and genotypical characteristics in many aspects from those of their phylogenetically closest neighbors listed above, which implies that genus Bacillus has diversified into various species during its evolutionary process.

  • The seismic isolation technology has appeared to be increasingly necessary for highway bridges, LNG tank, nuclear power plant, and building structures in view of earthquake vibrations. Also high-technology industries require effective seismic protection. The Seismic Isolation Bearing - High Damping Rubber Bearing - system has been counted as the most effective way fur seismic isolation, which is now under development and widely used in industries. Here, the commercial FEM software for nonlinear analysis, MARC, has provided force-displacement curves on the rubber system. The analyses have been carried out about fourteen cases; 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 125% and 150% horizontal displacements with a different frequency - 0.01Hz and 0.50Hz - and 100% horizontal displacement with four different frequency - 0.01Hz, 0.16667Hz, 0.3333Hz and 0.50Hz. The unknown constants of the strain energy function of Ogden model have been obtained by a tension test and planar shear test.

Design of CMOS Optical Link Receiver for FTTH (FTTH용 CMOS Optical Link Receiver의 설계)

  • This paper presents a CMOS optical receiver design featuring wide input dynamic range and low bit error rate suitable for FTTH application. We achieved 60dB input dynamic range for up to 100Mbps by controlling the PMOS feedback resistance of transimpedance preamplifier according to its output signal level. Auto-bias circuit is designed in current mirror configuration to minimize duty error. Circuit simulation has been performed using 2-poly, 3-metal, 0.6um CMOS process parameters. The designed receiver consumes less than 130mW at 100Mbps with 5V power supply.

The Estimation Method and Application of UV-cut effect in Lens (렌즈에서 UV 차단효과의 평가방법 및 적용)

  • In order to estimate the UV-A line's cut efficiency it lens, it was measured the light transmittance in the 320~400nm wavelength regions. We obtained the area to integrate the light transmittance of standard CR-39 and sample in the 320~400nm wavelength regions and established ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ of UV-A line's cut efficiency by contrast its area. We obtained the absolute cut efficiency ${\alpha}$ CR=0.59 value of CR-39 Lens, and if ${\alpha}$ was the absolute cut efficiency value of the lens to estimate UV-A cut effect, the relative cut efficiency ${\beta}$ was $1.69{\alpha}$. It was obtained the absolute and the relative UV exclusion index through each $a=(1-{\alpha}){\times}100%$, $b=(1-{\beta}){\times}100%$.

Magnetization Behavior of Ultra-thin FexCo1-x Alloy on Cr (100) Surface

  • Magnetization behavior of ultra thin $Fe_xCo_{1-x}$ alloy (where x varies from 0 to 100) has been investigated as functions of composition on Cr (100) substrate by using in situ surface magneto optical Kerr effect (SMOKE). It's always show in plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy at room temperature (RT) & Low temperature (LT). It is observed that composition dependent coercive force maximum at about 30 at % Co and 70 at % Co atomic ratio and minimum near equiatomic site. The relative magnetic moments as composition variation also show magnetization collapse near equiatomic site. The magnetization behaviors of Fe-Co alloy on Cr (100) due to composition varies are supported the order-disordering as well as structural stability bcc (ferromagnetic)/fcc (anti-ferromagnetic) phase stability magnetism.

  • In this paper, a 8bit 10Ms/s CMOS Folding and Interpolation analog-to-digital convertor is proposed. The architecture of the proposed ADC is based on a Folding & Interpolation using FR(Folding Rate)=8, NFB(Number of Folding Block)=4, IR(Interpolation Rate)=8. The proposed ADC adopts a preamplifier sharing method to decrease the number of preamplifier by half comparing to the conventional ones. This chip has been fabricated with a 0.35[um] CMOS technology. The effective chip area is $1.8[mm]{\times}2.11[mm]$ and it consumes 20[mA] at 3.3 power supply with 10[MHz] clock. The INL is -0.57, +0.61 [LSB] and DNL is -0.4, +0.51 [LSB]. The SFDR is 48.9[dB] and SNDR is 47.9[dB](ENOB 7.6b) when the input frequency is 100[kHz] at 10[MHz] conversion rate.

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of a multicode-CDMA system which have been proposed for the multimedia communications. The performance of a multicode-CDMA system, providing good spectrum efficiency as well as serving various bit rates, is analyzed with multipath, frequency selective, slowly fading Rayleigh channel. Also the proposed scheme adopting RAKE receiver with MRC(Maximal Ratio Combine) is advantageous to multipath channel. For a practical channel modeling, the JTC(Joint Technical Committee) recommended channel model(JTC(AIR) 23-065R6) is applied to simulation. The proposed schemehas serial-to-parallel convertor which splits input data stream of 2 Mits/s into 20 branches o 100 kbits/s. From the result of simulation, the case of RAKE receiver with 3 fingers to reduce the system complexity required the relatively large $E_{b}/N_O$ of 0 dB~1.5 dB, compared to the case of RAKE receiver with the number of path finger to keep the average error rate to be $1{\times}10^{-3}$ in channel A.

Plant Community and Species Distribution In Both Slopes of the Mt. Neungdong (능동산의 양사면에서 식물 군락과 종 분포)

  • The purpose of the present investigation was to investigate diversity patterns in Mt. Neungdong forested landscape. It was conducted on twelve sloping plots $(100{\times}100 m)$ in the east and west sides of Mt. Neungdong. A total of 2,157 specimins were identified as trees with a diameter at breast height (DBH) ${\geq}$10 em. There were a total of 135 species of 35 families present in both regions of Mt. Neungdong. Least significant differences (LSD) by post hoc analysis revealed that region A had significantly greater densities than region B. Shannon-Wiener functions differed significantly between forests (F=4.12, < 0.05), with region B forest having a significantly higher value (2.118) than region A (1.882). Pinus thunbergii and Quercus aliena were dominant on most plots of both regions, however, the P. densiflora forest of region A was distributed better in the middle plots exposures compared to the opposite ones. Q. aliena, Q. mongolica, and Carpinus laxiflora largely occupied the middle and lower exposures of region B. The spatial distribution in Neungdong's forest was very heterogeneous and reflected by most species as having micro-climate and patchy distributions.

The Performance Evaluation of Forward Link of CDMA System Adopting Closed-loop Transmit Beamforming with Feedback Channel Structure (폐쇄 루프 송신 빔 성형을 적용한 CDMA 시스템의 귀환 채널 구조에 따른 순방향 링크 성능 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 이동국 수신 신호의 SINR을 최대화하는 빔 성형 알고리듬을 이용하여, 폐쇄 루프 송신 빔 성형기술을 적용한 순방향 링크 CDMA 시스템에서의 안테나 수, 귀환 채널의 구조, 귀환 지연 등과 시스템 성능과의 상관관계를 연구하였다. 폐쇄 루프 전송 빔 성형에서는 이동국이 각 안테나가 겪는 채널을 추정하여 수신 SINR을 최대화시키는 가중치 벡터를 계산하고, 귀환채널을 통해 가중치 벡터의 양자화된 진폭과 위상정보를 전송한다. 컴퓨터 모의 실험 결과는 송신 안테나가 2개, 3개, 4개로 늘어남에 따라 빔 성형 이득은 단일 송신 안테나와 비교해 $10^{-5}$ BER 근방에서 4.2dB, 5.8dB, 7dB로 증가하지만 양자화 오류에 의한 성능 저하 또한 0.1dB, 0.6dB, 1.3dB로 커지는 것을 보여준다. 또한 순방향 채널의 최대 도플러 주파수가 100Hz일 때에는 귀환 채널을 통한 소신 가중치 벡터를 보다 빠르게 갱신하는 것이 가중치 벡터의 양자화 레벨의 수를 늘여주는 것보다 $10^{-5}$ BER 근방에서 0.6dB 더 좋은 성능을 보이며, 최대 도플러 주파수가 10Hz일 때에는 가중치 벡터의 갱신 속도를 늘이기 보다 양자화 레벨의 수를 늘여주어 정확한 가중치 벡터를 전송하는 편이 0.9dB의 성능 향상을 보인다. 두 전력제어 그룹 길이의 귀환지연으로 인한 성능저하는 채널의 최대 도플러 주파수가 50Hz인 경우가 채널의 최대 도플러 주파수가 100Hz인 경우보다 $10^{-5}$ BER 근방에서 0.3dB 정도 더 작다. 또한 AOS가 3$^{\circ}$인 경우가 AOS가 $10^{\circ}$인 경우보다 $10^{-5}$ BER 근방에서 1.9dB 정도, 주파수 선택적 페이딩 채널이 주파수 비선택적 페이딩 채널보다 $10^{-5}$ BER 근방에서 1dB 정도 귀환 지연으로 인한 성능의 저하가 작다.
