This study evaluated the effects of the syllable number(one, two), font type(gothic, myung), color contrast (black on white, white on black), display type(paper, LCD), age(20s, 60s) and character size(2~80pt) on the Korean characters' legibility. Total twenty subjects from two age groups (20s: n=10, 60s: n=10, five male and five female in each group) participated in the legibility test. A target panel was presented in the distance of 50 cm, and subjects conducted a reading tests for, in total, 16 treatment conditions (full combination of syllable number, font type, color contrast and display type). Results showed that two-syllable words revealed better legibility than one-syllable character. The main effects of the age, display type, font type, color contrast, and character size were statistically significant(p<0.01). Paper showed better legibility than LCD, particularly in the 20s and in the character sizes of less than 9pt. Gothic revealed more correct answers than Myung, particularly in the 60s, paper, and white on black conditions. It is expected that these results can provide basic data for the determination of the Korean characters' minimum legible size standards. For example, the minimum legible size for the Gothic and black on white characters presented in the paper should be 5pt for 20s and 1lpt for 60s if the 75% correct reading(3 correct answers in this study) was applied for the legibility criterion.

Two strains of actinomycetes producing extracellular adenosine deaminase, strain J-845S and strain J-326TK, were isolated from soil. Strain J-845S was gram-positive and non-acid-fast. This strain formed whitish, rod-shaped, smooth and non-motile spores on the aerial mycelium, and the spore chain was spiral. The hyphae of the mycelium branched abundantly. Cell wall chemotypes of the strain were of type I containing LL-diaminopimelic acids, and of phospholipid type II, and then strain J-845S was designated as Streptomyces sp.. Strain J-326TK was gram-positive and non-acid-fast. The hyphae of primary and aerial mycelium fragmented into irregular rod of coccus-like elements. The aerial mycelium either did not branch or sparsely branched. Cell wall composition was of type I and phospholipid type I. Thus, strain J-326TK was identified as Nocardioides sp.

This study employed a child-centered approach in the examination of patterns of preschooler's learning behaviors. A hierarchical cluster analysis was employed in order to discern a meaningful typology of such behavior. The subjects consisted of 232 children (117 boys, 106 girls) and their mothers from 6 kindergartens and 6 day care centers. The results of this study were as follows. The cluster analysis yielded five types of learning behaviors; the competent type, the average type, the low attention/persistence type, the low motivation -attitude type, and the deficient type. The most consistent level differences among these types appeared to lie in distinctions among the average Attention/Persistence scores. The composition of the cluster types, including both the age and gender of the children, was ascertained. Our results indicated that preschool learning behavior types could be seen to differentially relate to children's self-regulation, cognitive styles, problem behaviors, and the level of maternal involvement. It was revealed that a child's characteristics was more important than maternal involvement and beliefs. As there were more girls and older children in the learning type, this type was seen to be more competent.

I. M. Gelfand and G. E. Shilov [GS] introduced the Gelfand-Shilov spaces of type S, generalized type S and type W of test functions to investigate the uniqueness of the solutions of the Cauchy problems of partial differential equations. Using the heat kernel method Matsuzawa gave structure theorems for distributions, hyperfunctions and generalized functions in the dual space $(S^s_r)'$ of the Gelfand-Shilov space of type S in [M1, M2 and DM], respectively. Also, we gave structure theorems for ultradistributions, Fourier hyperfunctions in [CK, KCK], respectively.

Catsleman's disease is a type of angiofolliculr lymph node hyperplasia and its etiology is not known yet. It usually presents with the mediastinal mass but rarely with the parotid mass. There are only five cases previously reported in the literatures. It has two pathologic types, which are hyaline vascular type and plasma cell type. Plasma cell type is frequently associated with systemic menifestations. Diagnosis is based on the histopatholgic findings. Treatment is surgical excision. A case of Catsleman's disease involving the parotid lymph node is presented and literatures are reviewed.

Antigenic types of 114 Salmonella pullorum and 152 Salmonella gallinarum field isolates were evaluated. All 3 antigenic types were identified among field isolates of S pullorum by factor-serum analysis but the majority of them were standard type(90.4%). Of the 114 S pullorum isolates, only eight(7.0%) were intermediate type and 3(2.6%) were variant type. Using the ammonium sulfate precipitation(ASP) test, one-hundred and three(90.4%) S pullorum isolates were standard type, while intermediate and variant types were 8.4% and 1.4%, respectively. One-hundred and fifty-two S gallinarum isolates were identified as standard type by ASP test and serological analysis. According to the random amplified polymorphisms of DNA(RAPD) patterns, most of S pullorum isolates were differentiated with 3 types in their fragment-patterns. No correlations were found between SDS-PAGE profiles and antigenic types of S pullorum isolates.

We study the Sobolev spaces to the generalized Sobolev spaces $H^s_{\mathcal{G}}$ of exponential type based on the Silva space $\mathcal{G}$ and investigate its properties such as imbedding theorem and structure theorem. In fact, the imbedding theorem says that for $s$ > 0 $u{\in}H^s_{\mathcal{G}}$ can be analytically continued to the set {$z{\in}\mathbb{C}^n{\mid}{\mid}Im\;z{\mid}$ < $s$}. Also, the structure theorem means that for $s$ > 0 $u{\in}H^{-s}_{\mathcal{G}}$ is of the form $$u={\sum_{\alpha}\frac{s^{{|\alpha|}}}{{\alpha}!}D^{\alpha}g{\alpha}$$ where $g{\alpha}$'s are square integrable functions for ${\alpha}{\in}\mathbb{N}^n_0$. Moreover, we introduce a classes of symbols of exponential type and its associated pseudo-differential operators of exponential type, which naturally act on the generalized Sobolev spaces of exponential type. Finally, a generalized Bessel potential is defined and its properties are investigated.

The present study was conducted to analyze the type of appeal and constituent unit's expression of apparel advertising appeared in women's magazine through content analysis. The research questions raised for this study were: (1) Are there any differences in the type of appeal between outwear and uderwear, men's and women's outwear, and formal wear and casual wear advertising ? (2) Are there any differences in the type of appeal and constituent unit's expression of apparel advertising between the late of 1980's and the begining of 1990's ? "Women Sense", founded on August 1988, was used as research materials for the study. And the period of analysis was from September 1988 to March 1993. In order to reduce biases of monthly issues in magazine, the apparel advertisements for analysis were selected from March, June, September and December issues. A total of 348 apparel advertisements were analyzed. The data gethered were analyzed using the frequency table, percentage and chi-square test. The results were as follows: 1. The emotional appeal was used more often for apparel advertisements. 2. There was no difference in types of appeal between men's and women's outwear. Both of them frequently used emotional appeal type 3. Rational appeal and sex appeal type were used more frequently in underwear advertising than in outwear advertisements. 4. It was emotional appeal type that usually used in both formal and casual wear advertising, and sex appeal was employed more often in casual wear advertising than in formal wear advertising. 5. Romantic appeal was employed more aften in the late of 1980's than in the begining of 1990's. Sex appeal and rational appeal were used more often in the beginning of 1990's than in the late of 1980's. 6. Emotional (28.7%) and Assertion Propose Headlines (21.6%) were popular in the late of 1980's. 7. Brand Name Headline was shown most often in the begining of 1990's. 8. Emotional, Factual and Mixed Copies were generally used at all types of bodycopy. while there was no difference in types of bodycopy between the periods. 9. Direct Approach, that a model introduced advertising goods to consumer, was mainly used in illustration. There was no difference in different types of illustration between the periods.

Congenital dilatation of the common bile duct (choledochal cyst) is an uncommon disease. Although the etiology is unknown yet, various theories such as distal obstruction of the common bile duct, congenital weakness of the duct and anomalous union of the pancreaticobiliary duct have been offered to explain the occurrence of choledochal cyst. Thirty - six cases of choledochal cyst over 22 years were analyzed clinically and classified according to Todani's classification and Kimura's anomalous union of pancreaticobiliary duct type. Todani type 1 consisted with 22 cases which were subdivided into 19 cases of type Ia, 1 case of type Ib and 2 of type Ic. Type IVa consisted with 14 cases including one case of Caroli's disease. There were 25 type BP cases and 10 type PB cases and 1 normal pancreatobiliary junction. Serum alkaline phosphatase was increased significantly in almost all cases. Seven patients (19.4%) had associated congenital anomalies such as double gallbladder, left - sided gallbladder, common bile duct web, biliary atresia, accessory hepatic duct, heterotopic pancreas, cleft lip and 2 cases of intestinal malrotation. All patients underwent cyst excision and Roux - en - Y hepaticojejunostomy and cholecystectomy. There was one death due to methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus sepsis.

This study was performed to design a peeling device for root crop that were considered of the three possible types such as blade belt type, brush type, and rotating blade type, and to inspect the characteristics of the experimented peeling methods based on the chonggag (altari) radish tests. The peeling performances by the blade belt type and brush type devices were not established so well with the troublesome like adhesion of the chip on the blades was occurred, and the difficulties to produce the blade parts were come out on these types of the peeling devices. But the peeling operations by the rotating blade type peeling device was completed without needs to clean blades, and it was concluded that it would be possible to practical mechanization of the root crop which shaped similar chonggag radish for it's constructional simplicity and feasibility.
