중공형 LM-Guide Rail의 치수정밀도 향상을 위한 형상인발 금형 설계 (Die Design for Shape Drawing to Improve the Dimensional Accuracy of a Hollow LM-Guide Rail)

  • Multi-pass shape drawing is used to manufacture long products of arbitrary cross-sectional shapes. This process allows smooth surface finishes and closely controlled dimensions of the cross-sectional shape. Tube shape drawing for hollow type products provides material savings and weight reduction. The intermediate die shapes are very important in multi-pass tube shape drawing. In the current paper, the design method for the intermediate dies in a tube shape drawing process is developed using a die offset for corner filling (DOCF) method. Underfill defects are related to the radial velocity distribution of each divided section in the deformation zone. The developed intermediate die shape design was applied to the two-pass tube shape drawing with fixed mandrel for manufacturing a hollow linear motion (LM) guide rail. The proposed design method led to uniform and steady metal flow at each divided section. FE-simulations and experiments were conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in multi-pass tube shape drawing process.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고온, 고압 환경에서 사용되는 열교환기의 전열관에서 발생되는 열팽창에 따른 열응력, 진동과 같은 기계적 특성을 개선시키고, 전열부 체적을 최소화시키는 관점에서 실험계획법을 이용하여 구불구불한 관 형상에 대하여 형상최적화를 수행하였다. S-관 형상에 대하여 부분별 용도를 제시하였고, 형상 최적화를 위해서 형상변수 및 범위를 정한 후, 유한요소해석을 수행하여 형상변수에 따른 구조적 특성을 평가하였고, 요인배치법을 이용하여 형상변수의 주효과를 분석한 후, 반응표면법(Response surface Methodology)을 이용하여 회귀방정식을 구하고, 최적화 툴을 이용하여 최적화를 수행하였다.

자동차용 브레이크 튜브 관단부의 성형해석 (On the Deformation Analysis of the Brake Tube-End for Automobiles)

  • Brake tube is considered one of the most important parts in automobile. The shape of brake tube end has a great influence on the function of brake, and the quality and productivity of brake tube have relation to die design. The forming process of brake tube end is performed by hydraulic press forming machine. In this paper, the forming processes of tube end for automobile is analyzed and designed to make the optimal form of brake tube end. Also, finite element analysis has been carried out using $DEFORM^{TM}% 3D to predict the optimal shape of brake tube end and the results obtained showed the optimal length between punch and chuck is $1.0{\sim}1.2mm$. The shape of tube end is in good agreement with the finite element simulations and the experimental results.

이중튜브의 액압 성형특성 연구 (Hydroforming Characteristics of Double Layered Tube)

  • Double layered tube is assembled with an inner tube and an outer tube, similar in material or not, contacting closely and deforming simultaneously when subjected to external force. For the manufacturing of double layered tube, the hydroforming assembly technology has several advantages. Therefore in this study, hydroforming characteristics of double layered tube was investigated. The free bulge test was performed to produce formability diagrams of double layered tubes at various forming pressure and feeding amounts. The hexagonal shape hydroforming test was also performed to estimate the dimensional accuracies of double layered tube through the corner filling ratio and the gap between inner and outer tube. Besides experimental analyses, the analytical model that can predict internal pressure for the hydroforming of double-layered tube was proposed and experimentally validated.

  • A new type baghouse with tangential inlet and inner tube was developed and it's performances were evaluated. Experiments with variable shapes of inner tube were performed to suggest an optimum shape of inner tube which might decrease the dust loading onto bag filter surface and the amount of reentrained particles by internal gas flow. The dust loading was lower when inner tubes parallel to outer casing exist. When an inner tube covering around the lower portion of bag filters was used, the dust particles detached from the filter surface by cleaning process were reentraind by internal recirculating gas flow.

  • A recent trend in automotive parts has been an integration of sub-assemblies with unified shapes. Tube structures also have been integrated to one body structure by using a near net shape forming instead of adopting welding. A cylindrical elastomer-forming process can be utilized to form a steel tube compressed in a radial direction. This process has some advantages compared to a hydro-forming or a swaging process in the viewpoint of a lower investment and a higher productivity. In order to predict a feasible specification of products within a work capability of the elastomer-forming equipment developed previously, effects of geometrical parameters of a tube on its shape accuracy are examined. Two characteristic parameters to account for the shape accuracy are chosen. One is the curvature radius at the corner part and the other is the straight ratio of the formed region. Careful examination of two parameters has led that the shape accuracy can be easily predicted by the regression equation obtained from the response surface method.

  • Analytical solutions for modeling geotextile tubes during the filling process and approximation method to determine the densified tube shape are reviewed. The geotextile tube filling analysis is based on Plaut & Suherman's two-dimensional solution for geotextile tubes having a weightless and frictionless inextensible membrane resting on a rigid horizontal foundation subjected to internal and external hydrostatic pressures. The approximation for the densified tube shape developed by Leshchinsky et al. was adopted. A modified method for approximating the densified tube shape based on an areal-strain deformation analysis is introduced. Design diagrams useful for approximating geotextile tube measurements in the design process are provided.

MF증발기 기초 형상 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Basic Shape of an MF Evaporator)

  • The evaporator is a key driver of an air conditioning system's efficiency. In this study, we study methods of maximizing the efficiency of a Massey Ferguson (MF) evaporator by measuring how the cooling performance of different shapes vary with temperature. We varied the tube insertion depth as well as the shape of the evaporator's header and tube. When we compare header shapes of "D", "Ellipse", and "Quadrangle" types, we find that the elliptical header creates the smallest pressure loss and the highest temperature difference. Between tube shapes of "Rectangular", "Projection", and "Circular" types, the "Projection" type tube creates the most temperature difference. We also investigated the depth of tube insertion in the header and find that tube insertion of 5 - 10 mm is feasible; we selected the depths of 5, 7, and 10 mm since they corresponded to approximately 30%, 50%, and 70% of the total width of the header. The tube insertion test demonstrated that a tube insertion depth of 7 mm creates the least pressure loss and the highest temperature difference. In conclusion, the optimal evaporator design uses an "Ellipse" type header, "Projection" type tube, and a tube insertion depth between 30 and 50% of the header width.

  • The tensile test is generally used to measure mechanical properties with conventional fracture test. This test is extremely certain method to measure Young's modulus, yield strength, tensile strength and so on. ASTM, by international standard, prescribes two classes of tensile tests in tubular products. One is method that specimens aren't done by any process with Tube-shape. The other is that specimens are made on process for C-shape. In this paper, we would like to present the new-shape specimens for the tensile test. The presented specimen's shape is that put two pieces of C-shape specimens together. Besides a load point and a support point are fixed like Tube-shape specimens. This shape of specimen has a difference that existing specimen is made on one-step process out this specimen is made on two-step process. This shape is considered that stress concentration phenomenon occurs at the reduced section if a specimen is made on one step process.

열교환기 튜브확관을 위한 맨드렐 설계 (Design of a Mandrel for Expansion of the Tube of the Heat Exchanger)

  • Specifically designed mandrel is needed to expand tube of the heat exchanger with inner grooves. Configuration of the expanded tube depends upon the shape and feeding velocity of the mandrel. 3D simulation software LS-DYNA was used to obtain optimum design conditions of the mandrel. We show how configuration of the expanded tube varies with different design parameters such as the approaching angle, diameter , and the feeding velocity of the mandrel. Material property data for analysis were obtained through experiments with SHPB ( Split Hopkinson Pressure Bars ).
