  • The integration of the landing gear system is a complex relationship between the many conflicting parameters of shock absorption, minimum stow area, complexity, weight and cost. Especially ground impact load and dynamic behaviors greatly influence design load of landing gear components as well as load carrying structural attachment. This study investigates ground impact load and dynamic behaviors of the T-50 landing gear system using ADAMS. Taking into account for various operational/environmental conditions, an analysis of shock absorbing characteristics at ground impact is performed with experience derived from a wide range of proprietary designs. Analytical results are presented for discussing the effects of aircraft horizontal and vertical speed, landing attitudes, shock absorbing efficiency. This analysis leads us to the conclusion that the proposed program is shown to be a better quantitative one that apply to a new development and troubleshooting of the landing gear system.

  • In this paper, full body modeling and analysis of nose and main landing gear's characteristics of a helicopter are performed using the dynamics analysis program ADAMS. Also, when land limiting about helicopter body's degree-of-freedom, compared the characteristics. In the case of helicopter, because there are a lot of dangerous missions under flight condition that is disadvantageous than fixed wing airplane, need more detailed research for a helicopter.

  • Underground pipe is an instrument to transport rapidly and safely a lot of fluid like gas, oil, water supply and drain system. It acts like blood vessels of human body in a modern industry. As in this country, the pipe facilities have been constructing since 1970's. The pipes constructed for a long time ago are already starting to reveal the problem like corrosion and most of them are built underground. So for companies, the managing of the underground pipes is very hard because it needs high technology and a lot of money. So we made a new robot system to repair and maintain the pipes at a low price. This new robot is devised using pressing wall type to work inside 700${\sim}$900(mm) size pipe. And it has good carrying and working power.

  • When it is considered that many vehicle rides on the road and ride quality is an important method to evaluate vehicle performance with handling, running-over-bump manoeuvre may be suitable for testing ride quality. In this paper, a computed model has roughly steering system and lumped mass, connected by joint each rigid body, and suspension that has beam elements and has shock absorber as force element to represent nonlinear characteristics. A computer simulations for passing over a bump were made with two velocities. One side of vehicle passed over bump in due consideration of driver's habit that driver is subject to avoid a bad ride quality. On simulation, vertical acceleration, pitch angle and roll angle were measured at the mass center of chassis each case.

  • The natural frequencies of a beam on elastic foundation are investigated in the present paper. The inhomogeneous elastic foundation can be modelled as a combination of distributed translational spring, rotational spring, intermediate supports and dampers. The natural frequencies and mode shapes of the system are obtained by using the Galerkin's method, and also compared with the results in the literature. Furthermore, the natural frequencies of the beam with elastically mounted masses, which can be used as vibration absorbers, are obtained by an efficient numerical scheme suggested in the present paper.

  • In the automotive suspension system, especially, Mcpherson strut type, if the resultant of the force through tire and the link reaction force is not coincident with the spring force, the side load against shock-absorber occur. The magnitude of side load is proportional to the difference between resultant force and spring force. To reduce side load, several method can be used, and one is to use the side load coil spring. This study summarize the development results of side load coil spring, i.e., how to design, analysis, manufacture, and test.

  • In this study, we tried to derive the most severe scenario and its critical speed by 1-D collision simulation with a variable formation vehicle in order to prepare for the change of demand in Seoul Metropolitan Subway Line 3, which is operated by fixed arrangement. After establishing various collision scenario conditions, the friction coefficient between the wheel and the rail was evaluated as 0.3, which is considered to be severe. As a result of analysis according to all scenarios, the most severe scenario conditions were confirmed by comparing rubber shock absorber performance and vehicle collision deceleration. In addition, a typical wheel-rail friction coefficient was derived through accident cases, and the analysis was performed again and compared. Finally, the criterion of the critical speed in the condition of the friction coefficient of the normal wheel - rail condition was confirmed.

  • This dissertation tried to analyze passenger behaviors after an accident with the possibilities of a variety of accidents open reflecting the phases of the times of increasing interests in safety of passengers as the use of means of transportation such as cars and airplanes is increasing. Because a lot of data on head-on collisions, broadside collisions and reverse side collisions have been gathered through lots of experiments and interpretations, I chose to study a relatively unfamiliar subject, dropping collision. For example, I tried to study passenger behaviors in seating position after a dropping collision in preparation for falling accidents due to recent frequently-occurring sinkholes, driver's carelessness or mechanical problems. I used MADYMO, passenger behavior interpretation program, and experimented with 2 meters high Drop Test device which I made in person to increase the reliability of the results. On the basis of these, I compared the real experiments with interpretations.

  • A semi-active suspension is an automotive technology that controls the vertical movement of the vehicle while the car is driving. The system therefore virtually eliminates body roll and pitch variation in many driving situations including cornering, accelerating, and braking. This technology allows car manufacturers to achieve a higher degree of both ride quality and car handling by keeping the tires perpendicular to the road in corners, allowing for much higher levels of grip and control. An onboard computer detects body movement from sensors located throughout the vehicle and, using data calculated by opportune control techniques, controls the action of the suspension. Semi-active systems can change the viscous damping coefficient of the shock absorber, and do not add energy to the suspension system. Though limited in their intervention (for example, the control force can never have different direction than that of the current speed of the suspension), semi-active suspensions are less expensive to design and consume far less energy. In recent time, the research in semi-active suspensions has continued to advance with respect to their capabilities, narrowing the gap between semi-active and fully active suspension systems. In this paper we are studied the characteristics of vehicle movement during the field test with conventional and semi-active suspension system.

  • In this study, we designed a drop test system considering lunar surface environment and tested landing gear of experimental lunar lander. The lunar lander would be landed at soil place for soft landing. When the lunar lander touches down, the acceleration of the lander is largely affected by mechanical characteristics of the lunar soil. Accordingly, a drop test using lunar soil is needed to verify the performance of the lunar landing gear. Because the lunar soil is not available generally, we developed a lunar simulant KAUMLS(Korea Aerospace University Mechanical Luna Simulant) based on mechanical properties of the lunar soil of NASA's LUNA PROJECT. In addition, drop tests on steel plate and dry sand are performed to evaluate impact characteristics by the surface environment.
