However, until now, their actual conditions have not been surveyed at all. So, this study aimed at analysing the actual conditions and characteristics of rural village roads in the general terms to provide the basic information for the proper improvement policy-making. Case study villages were chosen in flat/mountainous/seashore/suburban areas, which be then classified as improved and not. In terms of road length per household, mountainous villages are highly dispersed and suburban ones moderately dispersed, while flat ones aggregated. Road widths in seashore/suburban/structure improved villages are narrower than flat/mountainous ones. Because about a quarter of road sites are registered as non-road, more positive scheme for transferring non-road sites into road ones.

  • Rural life improvement programs (RLIPs) have been implemented with a central goal of improving the quality of rural life and promoting rural welfare and cultural life. However, different factors may influence the effect of rural life improvement programs on rural communities or households. This study aimed to investigate the determinants of perceived effects of RLIPs on quality of life of rural women in South Korea. We used a mixed research design to generate data for this study. We collected survey data from 311 rural women who participated in the RLIPs and also conducted a focus group discussion. We analyzed the quantitative data using descriptive statistics and hierarchical regression to identify the variables that predicted effects of RLIPs on quality of life of rural women. Our study finds that age, type of residence in the community, leadership experience, level of education, community satisfaction and community participation influenced respondents' perceived effects of RLIPs. The results imply that the benefits of a development intervention could not be uniformly reaped by residents of a community.

  • The Facility Modernization Policy for Improvement of Fruits Quality was implemented to improve the competitiveness of the domestic fruit tree sector, and as a result of analyzing samples of participating and non-participating farmers, it is judged to have contributed to the improvement of high-quality fruit production. As a result of analysis using the propensity score matching method, it was found that the Facility Modernization Policy for apple farms contributed to the improvement of fruit quality such as sweetness and high-quality product ratio. In addition, the fruit tree high-quality facility modernization project was found to reduce working hours by about 30 hours per 10a. In the case of grapes, it contributed to quality improvement, including increased sugar content, and reduced working hours by about 15.5 hours per 10a. This study has a limitation in that the number of samples subject to the survey is not large enough, and because of this, it appears that no statistically significant differences in performance variables such as production per unit area and management costs per unit area were found between participating and non-participating farms.

For this purpose, the data of 403 persons from multicultural households and 348 persons from non-multicultural households were analyzed and several conclusions were drawn. Firstly, the family support variable had the greatest effect on the improvement in interpersonal relationships in both the rural multicultural and non-multicultural household adolescents. Secondly, the number of activities experienced at home significantly affected the improvement in interpersonal relationships in both types of adolescent. The effects of age, number of friends, and number of traditional activities on the improvement in interpersonal relationships differed for each type of household adolescent. And to conclude, the significant factors affecting the interpersonal relationships of the rural adolescents were their family and parents. Therefore, this study supports Bowlby's perspective on adolescents' interpersonal relationships. Based on the results, this study proposed plans to improve the interpersonal relationships of rural adolescents through family support and activity participation.
