A Study on the Dynamic Characteristics of an Externally Pressurized Gas Bearing (외부가압 공기베어링의 동적 특성에 관한 해석)

  • For the accurate run-out of a light rotor shaft the sliding bearings supplied with externally pressurized air are effectively applied, and it is important to predict the static and dynamic characteristics of rotor-bearing system. In this study direct numerical method is applied to solve the perturbed Reynolds' equation. To solve it the perturbed dimensionless mass flow rate is used as the boundary condition under the inherently-compensated restrictor. The dynamic characteristics of a rotor supported in the externally pressurized air bearings are analyzed, and as a result the orbit of the journal center is calculated. The theoretical results are investigated and discussed.

  • The aim of this paper was to expand on work already carried out on the modelling of the flow through a poppet valve using CFD software FLUENT V4.22. Several different models were run on FLUENT for various lifts of the poppet cone and various back pressures. The results for pressure and velocity obtained were interpreted. The results revealed the presence of cavitation downstream of the orifice around the cone tip, and the presence of a high velocity jet stream along the centre line. These results confirm what has been found to happen in practice.

  • During one revolution of a gear, the intensity of the gear-meshing noise or vibration will vary, depending upon the run-out in the pitch diameter of the gear. Here noise can be produced bu excentricity of the shaft with respect to the base circle and by pitch errors. According to the noise generated is clearly dependent on the force and the amount of energy expended in elastically straining the machine member. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the analysis of the noise and technical reduction of gear noise for machine tool.

  • KTX Railway rolling stock wheel run its course to corrode, deteriorate and wear away through out the time. So it is natural that the performance and ability of wheel gets declined. The frequency characteristic analysis were accomplished to above trend and shock wave flow to wheels were examined.   • An experimental investigation was conducted in order to figure out the multiple fire effects on the combustion efficiency and fuel properties of the solid fuel ramjet. Pure HTPB and metallized $B_4$C/HTPB fuel were studied. Fuel property effects were analyzed by using differential scanning calorimetry, The thermal or mechanical properties of the fuel grain were not affected and the combustion efficiency was a little increased.
