Analysis of Post-tensioned Slab Bridge by Means of Specially Orthotropic Theory (특별직교이방성 이론에 의한 포스트텐션 슬래브교의 해석)

  • A post-tensioned slab bridge is analyzed by the specially orthotropic theory. Each longitudinal and transverse steel layer is regarded as a lamina, and material constants of each lamina is calculated by the use of rule of mixture. This slab bridge with simple support is under uniformly distributed vertical and axial loads. In this paper, the finite difference method and the beam theory are used for analysis. The result of beam analysis is modified to obtain the solution of the plate analysis. The result of this paper can be used for post-tensioned slab bridge analysis by the engineers with undergraduate study in near future.

A refined exponential shear deformation theory for free vibration of FGM beam with porosities

  • In this paper, a refined exponential shear deformation theory for free vibration analysis of functionally graded beam with considering porosities that may possibly occur inside the functionally graded materials (FGMs) during their fabrication. For this purpose, a new displacement field based on refined shear deformation theory is implemented. The theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strains and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. Based on the present refined shear deformation beam theory, the equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. The rule of mixture is modified to describe and approximate material properties of the FG beams with porosity phases. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions. Illustrative examples are given also to show the effects of varying gradients, porosity volume fraction, aspect ratios, and thickness to length ratios on the free vibration of the FG beams.

Wave propagation analysis of carbon nanotubes reinforced composite plates

  • In this study, analysis of wave propagation characteristics for functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) nanoplates is performed using first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and nonlocal strain gradient theory. Uniform distribution (UD) and three types of functionally graded distributions of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are assumed. The effective mechanical properties of the FG-CNTRC nanoplate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction and are approximated based on the rule of mixture. Also, the governing equations of motion are derived via the extended Hamilton's principle. In numerical examples, the effects of nonlocal parameter, wavenumber, angle of wave propagation, volume fractions, and carbon nanotube distributions on the wave propagation characteristics of the FG-CNTRC nanoplate are studied. As represented in the results, it is clear that the internal length-scale parameter has a remarkable effect on the wave propagation characteristics resulting in significant changes in phase velocity and natural frequency. Furthermore, it is observed that the strain gradient theory yields a higher phase velocity and frequency compared to those obtained by the nonlocal strain gradient theory and classic theory.

  • In the growing data saturated world, the question of "whether data can be used" has shifted to "can it be utilized effectively?" More data is being generated and utilized than ever before. As the collection of data increases, data mining techniques also must become more and more accurate. Thus, to ensure this data is effectively utilized, the analysis of the data must be efficient. Interpretation of results from the analysis of the data set presented, have their own on the basis it is possible to obtain the desired data. In the data mining method a decision tree, clustering, there is such a relationship has not yet been fully developed algorithm actually still impact of various factors. In this experiment, the classification method of data mining techniques is used with easy decision tree. Also, it is used special technology of one R and J48 classification technique in the decision tree. After selecting a rule that a small error in the "one rule" in one R classification, to create one of the rules of the prediction data, it is simple and accurate classification algorithm. To create a rule for the prediction, we make up a frequency table of each prediction of the goal. This is then displayed by creating rules with one R, state-of-the-art, classification algorithm while creating a simple rule to be interpreted by the researcher. While the following can be correctly classified the pattern specified in the classification J48, using the concept of a simple decision tree information theory for configuring information theory.   • This study was conducted to find out whether information based on norm activation theory affects personal norm and rule-violating behavior in a recreation setting, using the data collected from the Second Campground in Chiri-Mountain National Park in 1994. Of the total 280 questionnaires distributed, 253(90.4%) were usable for data analysis. Results showed that information did not increase awareness of consequences(AC) of their actions or ascription of responsibility(AR) for acts and consequences to themselves, and did not directly decrease the quiet time rule-violating behavior. However, it was found that respondents with high ACR(combination of AC and AR) or personal norms less violated the rule. Management implications of these findings were discussed.

Risk Analysis for the Rotorcraft Landing System Using Comparative Models Based on Fuzzy (퍼지 기반 다양한 모델을 이용한 회전익 항공기 착륙장치의 위험 우선순위 평가)

  • In the case of military supplies, any potential failure and causes of failures must be considered. This study is aimed at examining the failure modes of a rotorcraft landing system to identify the priority items. Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is applied to the rotorcraft landing system. In general, the FMEA is used to evaluate the reliability in engineering fields. Three elements, specifically, the severity, occurrence, and detectability are used to evaluate the failure modes. The risk priority number (RPN) can be obtained by multiplying the scores or the risk levels pertaining to severity, occurrence, and detectability. In this study, different weights of the three elements are considered for the RPN assessment to implement the FMEA. Furthermore, the FMEA is implemented using a fuzzy rule base, similarity aggregation model (SAM), and grey theory model (GTM) to perform a comparative analysis. The same input data are used for all models to enable a fair comparison. The FMEA is applied to military supplies by considering methodological issues. In general, the fuzzy theory is based on a hypothesis regarding the likelihood of the conversion of the crisp value to the fuzzy input. Fuzzy FMEA is the basic method to obtain the fuzzy RPN. The three elements of the FMEA are used as five linguistic terms. The membership functions as triangular fuzzy sets are the simplest models defined by the three elements. In addition, a fuzzy set is described using a membership function mapping the elements to the intervals 0 and 1. The fuzzy rule base is designed to identify the failure modes according to the expert knowledge. The IF-THEN criterion of the fuzzy rule base is formulated to convert a fuzzy input into a fuzzy output. The total number of rules is 125 in the fuzzy rule base. The SAM expresses the judgment corresponding to the individual experiences of the experts performing FMEA as weights. Implementing the SAM is of significance when operating fuzzy sets regarding the expert opinion and can confirm the concurrence of expert opinion. The GTM can perform defuzzification to obtain a crisp value from a fuzzy membership function and determine the priorities by considering the degree of relation and the form of a matrix and weights for the severity, occurrence, and detectability. The proposed models prioritize the failure modes of the rotorcraft landing system. The conventional FMEA and fuzzy rule base can set the same priorities. SAM and GTM can set different priorities with objectivity through weight setting.

A Comparative study on the pricing mechanism and social welfare in the Natural Gas Market (국내 천연가스산업의 도매가격결정방식 비교 분석)

  • This paper attempts to improve domestic natural gas pricing system, thereby optimizing social welfare. This is done by deriving theoretical frameworks of natural gas pricing, which make use of both Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule based on the theory of marginal cost. Allocative efficiency and social welfare between gas prices derived from the three pricing mechanism, present Cost-based pricing, Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule, are analysed and compared in the case study. For the city gas, allocative efficiency of Cost-based pricing is higher than that of Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule. In contrast, for the natural gas consumed for power generation, allocative efficiency of Cost-based pricing is lower than the other two pricing systems. It also turns out that social welfare is improved by the prices driven from Ramsey component pricing rule and Efficient component pricing rule rather than present Cost-based pricing.

Forced vibration response in nanocomposite cylindrical shells - Based on strain gradient beam theory

  • In this paper, forced vibration of micro cylindrical shell reinforced by functionally graded carbon nanotubes (FG-CNTs) is presented. The structure is subjected to transverse harmonic load and modeled by beam model. The size effects are considered based on strain gradient theory containing three small scale parameters. The mixture rule is used for obtaining the effective material properties of the structure. Based on sinusoidal shear deformation theory of beam, energy method and Hamilton's principle, the motion equations are derived. Applying differential quadrature method (DQM) and Newmark method, the frequency curves of the structure are plotted. The effect of different parameters including, CNTs volume percent and distribution type, boundary conditions, size effect and length to thickness ratio on the frequency curves of the structure is studied. Numerical results indicate that the dynamic deflection of the FGX-CNT-reinforced cylindrical is lower with respect to other type of CNT distribution.

  • The study concerns a design procedure of rule-based systems. The proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the efficient from of "IF..., THEN..." statements, and exploits the theory of system optimization and fuzzy implication rules. The method for rule-based fuzzy modeling concerns the from of the conclusion part of the the rules that can be constant. Both triangular and Gaussian-like membership function are studied. The optimization hinges on an autotuning algorithm that covers as a modified constrained optimization method known as a complex method. The study introduces a weighted performance index (objective function) that helps achieve a sound balance between the quality of results produced for the training and testing set. This methodology sheds light on the role and impact of different parameters of the model on its performance. The study is illustrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples.

  • Rule minimization technique adapted from rough set theory was applied to remove redundant knowledge which is not necessary to make a knowledge base. New algorithm to diagnose fault using Improved Fuzzy Cognitive Maps(I-FCMs), and Fuzzy Associative Memory(FAM) is proposed. I-FCM[22] is superior to gathering knowledge from many experts and descries dynamic behaviors of systems very well. I-FCM is not only a knowledge base, but also a inference engine. FAM has learning capability like neural network[12]. Rule minimization and composition of I-FCM and FAM make it possible to construct compact knowledge base and breaks the border between inference engine and knowledge base.
