This paper considers the efficient design of routing path and wavelength assignment in the single-hop WDM optical transport networks. The connection demands between node-pairs are given and a connection between a pair of nodes must be made by only one lightpath. It is assumed that no wavelength conversion is allowed and the physical topology of the network and the number of available wavelengths of a physical link are also given. This paper proposes the method to route a path and assign a wavelength to the path, which guarantees fairness to every node pair. In order to guarantee fairness and maximize connections, an optimization model is established, which successively maximizes minimum connection ratio to the demand of each node pair. A heuristic algorithm with polynomial iterations is developed for the problem since the problem is NP-hard. The heuristic algorithm is implemented and applied to the networks with real problem sizes. The results of the application are compared with GAMS/OSL.

A hydraulic hose is an important part of the hydraulic system which transmits power using pressurized fluids. It allows relative motion between components at each end of the hose assembly, and it is much easier to route a hose assembly than it is to bend and install a rigid tubing assembly. Unnecessary loads, which drop the hose's pressure capability and shorten service life, depend on a hose-routing. Therefore, the Hydraulic system designers must be aware to consider unnecessary load does not affect the here. For this consideration in an early stage of the design process, CAD system must support the hose assembly routing design function which is to generate routing path and design fitting angle properly. This paper proposes 2 methods. One is to generate curves that are similar to routing paths of the real hose assembly using the energy minimization method and the optimization method. The other is to design fitting angles that are important design elements of a hose assembly using the Parallel Transport Frame. To implement the proposed methods above, commercial CAD software, CATIA has been integrated with our program.

Routing in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is highly challenging because of the dynamic nature of network topology. AntHocNet is a bio-inspired routing protocol for MANETs that mimics the foraging behavior of ants. However, unlike many other MANET routing protocols, the paths constructed in AntHocNet are unidirectional, which requires a separate path setup if a route in the reverse direction is also required. Because most communication sessions are bidirectional, this unidirectional path setup approach is often inefficient. Moreover, AntHocNet suffers from looping problems because of its property of multiple paths and stochastic data routing. In this paper, we propose a modified path setup procedure that constructs bidirectional paths. We also propose solutions to some of the looping problems in AntHocNet. Simulation results show that performance is significantly enhanced in terms of overhead, end-to-end delay, and delivery ratio when loops are prevented. Performance is further improved, in terms of overhead, when bidirectional paths setup is employed.

There have been considerable researches for solving large-scale separable convex optimization ptoblems. In this paper we present a method for large-scale nonseparable smooth convex optimization problems with block-angular linear constraints. One of them is occurred in reconfiguration of the virtual path network which finds the routing path and assigns the bandwidth of the path for each traffic class in ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network [1]. The solution is approximated by solving a sequence of the block-angular structured separable quadratic programming problems. Bundle-based decomposition method [10, 11, 12]is applied to each large-scale separable quadratic programming problem. We implement the method and present some computational experiences.

Recently, Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is emerged as a simple yet powerful optimization algorithm for routing and load-balancing of both wired and wireless networks. However, there are few researches trying to adopt ACO to enhance routing performance in WSN owing to difficulties in applying ACO to WSN because of stagnation effect. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient path selection algorithm based on ACO for WSN. The algorithm is not by simply applying ACO to routing algorithm but by introducing a mechanism to alleviate the influence of stagnation. By the simulation result, the proposed algorithm shows better performance in data propagation delay and energy efficiency over Directed Diffusion which is one of the outstanding schemes in multi-hop flat routing protocols for WSN. Moreover, we checked that the proposed algorithm is able to mitigate stagnation effect than simple ACO adoption to WSN.

Because BSP(Basic Support Protocol) of NEMO(Network Mobility) has important limitation of not providing route optimization, several route optimization schemes have been proposed. By analyzing and improving the limitations of the existing schemes. we Propose an advanced integrated route optimization scheme for the communication through both the internal and external routing of nested NEMO. Our proposal includes a secure route optimization protocol which connects TLMR directly to an external node CN without passing through any HAs. and allows TLMR to control the internal path without passing through the internet. Thus, our scheme can strengthen the security as well as improve the path and delay of NEMO communication.

Single shortest path routing is known to perform poorly for Internet traffic engineering (TE) where the typical optimization objective is to minimize the maximum link load. Splitting traffic uniformly over equal cost multiple shortest paths in OSPF and IS-IS does not always minimize the maximum link load when multiple paths are not carefully selected for the global traffic demand matrix. However, among all the equal cost multiple shortest paths in the network, a set of TE-aware shortest paths, which reduces the maximum link load significantly, can be found and used by IP routers without any change of existing routing protocols and serious configuration overhead. While calculating TE-aware shortest paths. the destination-based forwarding constraint at a node should be satisfied, because an IP router will forward a packet to the next-hop toward the destination by looking up the destination prefix. In this paper, we present a problem formulation of finding a set of TE-aware shortest paths in ILP, and propose a simple heuristic for the problem. From the simulation results, it is shown that TE-aware shortest path routing performs better than default shortest path routing and ECMP in terms of the maximum link load with the marginal configuration overhead of changing the next-hops.

Nowadays, the Internet of Things (IoT) is adopted to enable effective and smooth communication among different networks. In some specific application, the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are used in IoT to gather peculiar data without the interaction of human. The WSNs are self-organizing in nature, so it mostly prefer multi-hop data forwarding. Thus to achieve better communication, a cross-layer routing strategy is preferred. In the cross-layer routing strategy, the routing processed through three layers such as transport, data link, and physical layer. Even though effective communication achieved via a cross-layer routing strategy, energy is another constraint in WSN assisted IoT. Cluster-based communication is one of the most used strategies for effectively preserving energy in WSN routing. This paper proposes a Bio-inspired cross-layer routing (BiHCLR) protocol to achieve effective and energy preserving routing in WSN assisted IoT. Initially, the deployed sensor nodes are arranged in the form of a grid as per the grid-based routing strategy. Then to enable energy preservation in BiHCLR, the fuzzy logic approach is executed to select the Cluster Head (CH) for every cell of the grid. Then a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm is used to select the routing path. The hybrid algorithm combines moth search and Salp Swarm optimization techniques. The performance of the proposed BiHCLR is evaluated based on the Quality of Service (QoS) analysis in terms of Packet loss, error bit rate, transmission delay, lifetime of network, buffer occupancy and throughput. Then these performances are validated based on comparison with conventional routing strategies like Fuzzy-rule-based Energy Efficient Clustering and Immune-Inspired Routing (FEEC-IIR), Neuro-Fuzzy- Emperor Penguin Optimization (NF-EPO), Fuzzy Reinforcement Learning-based Data Gathering (FRLDG) and Hierarchical Energy Efficient Data gathering (HEED). Ultimately the performance of the proposed BiHCLR outperforms all other conventional techniques.

It is a mainly issue that provide mobility smoothly in Mobile IP networks. The IP mobility support being standardized in the IETF utilized tunneling of IP packets from a home agent to foreign agent and utilized reverse tunneling of IP packets from foreign agent to home agent. In this paper, We propose that solve the triangular routing problem in IP mobility and that lessen the messages about IETF routing optimization. Through the Mobile Routing Table on the edge router, agent process the message instead of a end node when handoff occur and that lessen the routing path length by sending directly from FA to to Correspond Node's router. This action lessen the message occurrence frequency and the packet drop. We compare the standard IP, Routing Optimization of Mobile IP, Wu's method and the proposed algorithm. Finally, the simulation results are presented.

One of the challenging tasks in Mobile Ad hoc Network is to discover precise optimal routing solution due to the infrastructure-less dynamic behavior of wireless mobile nodes. Ant Colony Optimization, a swarm Intelligence technique, inspired by the foraging behaviour of ants in colonies was used in the past research works to compute the optimal path. In this paper, we propose a Recurrent Ant Colony Optimization (RECACO) that executes the actual Ant Colony Optimization iteratively based on recurrent value in order to obtain an optimal path convergence. Each iteration involves three steps: Pheromone tracking, Pheromone renewal and Node selection based on the residual energy in the mobile nodes. The novelty of our approach is the inclusion of new pheromone updating strategy in both online step-by-step pheromone renewal mode and online delayed pheromone renewal mode with the use of newly proposed metric named ELD (Energy Load Delay) based on energy, Load balancing and end-to-end delay metrics to measure the performance. RECACO is implemented using network simulator NS2.34. The implementation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing algorithms like AODV, ACO, LBE-ARAMA in terms of Energy, Delay, Packet Delivery Ratio and Network life time.
